Hello, even since I got a Galaxy Note 3 I've been obsessed with red / black themes, but I don't use any, and I've been having trouble finding any, for really any program (that doesn't need access to Device ID & Calling info!).
I'd like to see a Red / black theme for Themer for night time use, as there is a lot of research that say that (other than no light at all) is best for night time. Colors like bright white, and blue tell the body to stay awake, and slow down the production of melatonin, and I don't want to do that.
I don't know anything about themes, and you all do such an AMAZING job, so far I have 4 themes installed, and like them all.
Last one installed is 'Wireframe' because it's mostly black.
The first them I installed was 'Dark Orange' I really like that!
Next was 'Blue Power' because I wanted a bright blue theme in the daytime,
Then the badass looking 'Callouts' theme (with both a red and blue side!)
and again, lastly Wireframe!
Thank you all for your OUTSTANDING work on making this INCREDIBLY easy, and so much variation!
I hope you all get around to a few more blue themes, and a couple dark red themes (as there are NO dark black / red themes)

Hi,
You can always change the colors of themes that you enjoy. We will try and include a red and black theme soon, but for now these videos should help: http://bit.ly/ThemerVideos

Good find, lets hope its true
Will not be amused if this is available a week after I get the blue one.
come on guys, this is just a site that does 3d animations for phones. Did you really think that samsung would not have announced a black version?

Neither will I However I think the listing could well be a mistake colour-wise. When I was looking at pre-orders, there were a couple of places that had white or black listed as colour options, but later corrected to white or blue. I think the blue should be dark enough in real life to pass as nearly black anyway.

Looks like the blue version to me.
Looks blue to me too
looks like blues clues to me i dont know about black..you know that fruit company might sue again
Also they don't even list the blue, which is a bit strange.
I'm calling BS
According to Eldar Murtazin, later it will be available in black too.

"Initially only two colors will be available - Marble White and Pebble Blue. Later on the lineup will be expanded and we will get a black phone among others."

Probably the crappy US Carrier versions.
Eldar Murtazin told me on twitter that the black version will be available for Christmas. Well, i want it so much, but i'm not going to wait :|
I have always had a black phone so ive decided this time it's gonan be different,i want the marble white SGS3 but the blue one looks really nice as well i just cant make up my mind.
Seems immeasurably stupid not to include a black version at launch. It harks back to the days of kids running around with bright red Nokia Xpress-on covers and potentially alienates a large portion of the market who want a sleek, back, professional looking phone - not a teenager's fashion accessory.
The inclusion of things like S-Voice are the kinds of things that look great in a shop but you end up never using in practice. For the same reason it boggles the mind why Samsung didn't give the option of a black version; part of the reason AMOLED screens look so impressive is the near seamless transition between black on-screen and a black bezel, made possible by AMOLED's superior contrast.
I had a very reaction when i saw the white and blue versions at the presentation. I hate white phones and thought the blue looked horribly cheap. Ive now seen a blue one in the flesh and its nothing like as bad as i feared. Its actually quite smart looking.
Many of the images of it make it look a lot lighter than it actually is. The front looks black in most lights an the pattern on the back is almost like metal.
I would still prefer a black phone though.
its the blue one!
Do you have such stains? I hear this is normal among AMOLEDs.
welcome to mass produced (aka economically viable) OLEDs...
Some patterning or colour patching is inevitable even from new. Blue or Grey backgrounds tend to show patches up more. Very low brightness shows a greenish cast on the left of the screen too.
It took more than a decade before LCDs could be produced in volume with a very low dead pixel yield.
We have a dozen GS2s at work and they all have minor screen issues. From new. They do get worse or even change position over time (many months) as the pixel level elements shift in luminosity.
Also note that if the phone is warm, the effect lessens.

Thank God I don't have dead pixels. At least this patch I got is visible only on dark-gray / medium-light (so-to-say, idk) brown. I'd rather have that than dead pixels .
Actually, if I start Screen Test, the patch is visible on ALL colors. On blue/red/green, it is less visible. On white, it is most visible. Also, when displaying full whites, the color is not homogeneous. Vertical and horizontal lines seem to be present ALL ACROSS the screen. These lines are visible on white, yellow and such colors.
At least I don't have ghosting effect and the whites are actually white, not yellow - as it was on Gingerbread (yeah, software problem, eh?).
So... the patch appeared to have vanished after running the fix (which rapidly ****s four colors) for half an hour, because the screen was a bit warmer... and as it cooled down, the patch has shown its face again. Oh well...
the galaxy note and s2 super amoled screens are prone to burn ins, very common, you need to eliminate risks involved.
Turn off auto brightness, lower the brightness level, shorten the time youre screen stays awake for, and if youre using themes, avid the blue themed ics ones, although they look nice, the blue themes are one of the biggest culprits of the burn in issue and before ya know it youve got a battery image burnt in.
i notice it looks like you have a blue theme or something, my mate had same issue, what can ya do, its a pain and well probably all suffer it, whereas htcs dont have the issue, they just suffer dead pixels a lot, but hey, id soone have slight burn in than dead pixels i guess

F*** !
MIUI uses white & orange. Are those colors dangerous, too?
I mean... what colors should I avoid the most? Besides blue - I get it, it's bad (again, F***).
Anything that turns the RGB elements hard on (!). So high brightness only and white is worst as this is RGB full on, then pure red, pure blue, pure green. Cyan, yellow and magenta are less risky. In theory.
In practice and the real world, just keep the brightness down a little and you'll get years out of it. And save battery - the screen is THE major power consumer...

+1 absolutely right, follow these simple rules and all should be good.
White requires all three elements (RGB), right? Blue = B. Which one should I stick to...? My logics tell me blue, but I hear AMOLED's blue color is so pure because of a compound from algae (rofl) and it wears off more quickly (if any of that makes sense).
Cyan, magenta, yellow... Yeah, I don't have that on AOKP, lol. And neither would I want a yellow theme. Magenta would be nice, though.
RGB... hell, those are the primary colors. How about we use black, with polarised glasses? That'd be a good deal, since I wear glasses, lol.
Seriously, guys, what do YOU do to make sure the screen doesn't get damaged over time? Don't tell me you're using a yellow-black theme. And setting the screen brightness to 50% or more is required outdoors, so...
-----
I just went to a showroom today. Seen the Galaxy Nexus there. It's on, with the brightness set to maximum, 12 hours a day, and it's been like that ever since they put it there - more than 3 months. Seeing anything strange here?
well, as a rule i dont have wallpapers that have bright vibrant colours, i find it annoying and painful on the eyes, and if you have shortcuts on the homescreen it gets to looking messy, so i stick with dark colours, to be honest most of my wallpapers are black or almost black and my brightness is set at around 20%, and i dont struggle to see it outside in sunlight or anything, but this is just my prefernce, im sure everyone has different tastes, i think you should just enjoy your phone and use it how you wish, but try to avoid having it too bright, it should be ok.

I'll stick to the stock AOKP theme (blue, that is); but I will be careful not to raise the brightness above the point of 50%. And even if I do, I guess setting it to the maximum point for a few minutes (when the sunlight is very strong) wouldn't hurt...
Oh and mind archiving your black and dark wallpapers and sending them over to me? Please (I'm always happy to pile up such wallpapers)
Hi, after two years with Defy I bought brand new Atrix 4G fw. 45.31.1.MB860.NonEFIGSRetail.en.EU, non rooted. The problem is that all dark colors like gray, dark-blue, dark-green, dark-red seems to be black. Rest of bright colors seems to be fine. For example gray menu with black letters is bright, clear and sharp but buttons like in Power Amp (dark buttons on dark background) has no borders and there is no difference between them and background. The same thing is with movies - daylight scenes looks nice but night scenes are so dark that it's hard to see anything. I installed Screen Adjuster too boost contrast and then all dark colors starts to be clearer and didn't split to black but rest of bright colors starts to be completely washed. Screen looks fine on bright background and it's alot better than washed up screen id Defy but on dark background there is no difference between dark colors, all looks black. Strange thing is that noone post this problem before so could it be factory damaged screen or maybe some software issue?? I really need help with it cause I payed for this phone the same as I sold my 1 year old Defy Plus and this Atrix is new so it would be nice to fix it, otherwise I need to return it quickly but I wont find that phone in the same occasional price.
So anyone can help??
Link to photos comparing to Defy Plus on the same frame.
Photos are not good quality but when You look on collar You should know what I mean.

I've the same issue, Chamelleon! have you found the way to fix it? now i'm running neutrino 2.9 CM7, so it doesn't seem to be a rom problem....
It must be kernel issue cause on AtrICS everything looks ok. Temporary solution is Screen Adjuster from Play Store and add some contrast. Colors looks more ****ty but You can see what is on the screen.

Im buying a L920. I've always been set on the red model, but having watched several video reviews im now in doubt.
- Smudgeprints are extremely noticeable on red
- It has a really big "wow effect", its very noticeable with such a massive, bright red glossy back
- Its not gonna match live tiles if I change the colors
Because of this, im leaning towards White, but I have some questions about it.
- Does it get dirty easier? (ie. dirt gather in scratches)
- I read white phones tend to turn yellow if exposed to certain things such as cigarette smoke. Is this true?
- Is there overall something I should be aware of when getting a white phone?
Thanks in advance.

I had the White for a week then swapped out to a Red one. I didn't notice anything unusual like smudge prints etc, that stood out on the white. But, I'm an office worker so I'm not generally exposed to much dirt or grime.
Of the 2 colors, I'm not sure which I really prefer. The Red stands out, but so does the White. There are certain theme colors that do not go well with either color...so it boils down to your personal preference.
Though liking both the White and Red, I have not regretted switching to the Red

Im gonna be using full body protection on the phone, including on metal+lens on the back from the Martin Fields protector. Im not exposed to dirt either (being home going till march...), but its still something I'd like to know, as I've never had a white phone.
Imo red stands out more than white. White is a fairly common color among phones (one reason I dont prefer the color), however the bright red is not. Im just imagening holding it to my ear and all ppl see is the bright back, heh. White just seems so...smooth, despite being common.
Bump for more interest.
Well I can't say anything about White vs. Red but I had a Cyan for two weeks and then I got RED .... I personally liking RED a lot more.

I would get the Red colour. My mum got a White 920 and I really don't like it. I also seen the Yellow version which I thought I would hate, but it actually looked pretty cool in person.
I have a black one which I would say is the best color to choose, either that or the matte grey model.
Between red and white, go red IMO.
I got the yellow one, and I love it - though most people don't (who cares - I love it).
Before that, I had the white Galaxy S2. Looks pretty fine after about a year of usage, besides the scratches it got from the one and only time I dropped it.
I wouldn't hesitate to go for white in means of dirt stains or so. As long as you're not a smoker it should keep it's color for some time.
I am coming from a white HTC One X and I decided to go with a red 920.
When the Lumia 900 came out, I fell in love with the white one. When the HTC One X came out, to me it was like a slightly more rounded "Android" version of the Lumia so I had to have the white one. I really like the color and the contrast of white and black. The only issue I had with the color I had was due to the invisishield protection I had on it. My jeans would stain the shield blue-ish so the phone was never a true white. I read that a naked One X will do the same thing, but that you can clean it off with alcohol. However, if you have a naked Lumia, I doubt that will happen because of the glossy finish.
The reason why I ended up with a red 920 is not because of that, however. I went to the store to check all the colors out and red really stood out to me more so than the other options.
So if you really like the red, get the red but if you really like the white, get the white. But be aware that invisishield-type protection on that phone might be really noticeable once it gets dirty because of the white. I believe the naked phone will actually look cleaner.
I have a white and a black. White stays white - no smudging. However, I will say that the colored ones have more 'grip' that the black - which is very slick.
To my first test drive with a red one then ended up getting a white one for the wife & I. Just came down to personal preference, the one thing I new was I didn't want another black phone
Hi guys,
I am considering to buy the galaxy alpha. I was looking for the black version, but when i saw it at a store (showmodel) it looked a bit grey-ish. Perhaps it was a worn out model. But i searched google images for the color and its in between, some photos look pure black others grey. Can anyone with a black version confirm this ?
Also can anyone with the extended battery pack tell how long it will last on full battery cycle (screen on time)?
Btw, I am developping with slimroms team, first thing I'll do when i get this phone is alpha slim 5.1.1.r2
Get the sleek Silver color, it looks the best.
True, Alphas balck is called charcoal black and indeed it looks more like charcoal Definitely its not dark black color.
