So today i took the leap and rooted my phone. That went well and i rooted my phone succesfully. My next step was install CM11. Heres where the problems start. I used the CM11 installer and followed all of the instructions. The installer went through, it said it was succesful, and i saw the blue CM person on my phone and my phone started. As expected it made me run through all the set up options. But then, every 10 seconds i would get "google play services has stopped working" and my phone was running very slow. Going to settings, my phone was still running jellybean and nothing was new, now i was just at factory settings, google play services was broken, and my phone ran slow. I rebooted my phone. still nothing. I tried custom installing drivers and reinstalling CM11 using the installer. Same thing. Anyone have any ideas?

Install the latest version of PhilZ recovery from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/i93xx-philz-touch-t2002953
Go to this page and download a type of cm rom that you want:
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/
Put it on sdcard, go to recovery, do a full wipe (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache + wipe dalvik cache) then install it from " install zip "
done!

Ok so I am new to rooting in general, and using ROMs. After a bunch of research I picked the one I liked the best. I rooted the phone, and then installed a rom, I wiped the cache and everything else.
The phone turned on, worked great, but when I went into my Play Store to download apps, they just said "installing" and wouldn't complete. I went back into recovery, cleared cache and wiped the delvik and restarted the phone, which is when I got "Optimizing Apps" or whatever, after that was finished my Play Store apps finished installing.
Then the other problem arised, I couldn't send/receive text messages. I've wiped it about five times, even installed stock firmware and started from scratch, if it doesn't do the "Optimizing Apps" thing, texts work but once it does that texts no longer work but apps install.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong, I have tried this with two separate ROMs and had the same issue with both, am I doing something wrong?
Thanks!
April
I flashed the codefirex ROM with android 4.3 to my ltevo.
It worked fine at first but when the google play updates started to install it began force closing the play service and location service stuff.
Dialogs would appear and I'd click ok and it would come up again. Made the phone unusable really. Difficult to even reboot.
Anybody else experience this? I flashed the gapps from 20130813 jellybean.
They seemed to work fine until they updated.
Did you dirty flash? Maybe you should try reflashing Gapps to see what happens.

Try these, they've been good to me on 4.3 and 4.4 there are separate versions for each: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
This is the process I followed. I repeated it last night just to be sure.
Recovery is TWRP 2.6.3.0. The one for CM11 kitkat.
1. I went into wipe and advanced wipe and selected Dalvik Cache, Cache, Data, System, Android Secure.
2. I went into install and selected the ROM zip and installed.
3. I went into install and selected the gapps zip and installed.
4. I went into install and selected the supersu zip and installed.
5. I wiped Dalvik Cache and cache.
6. Reboot.
It then works fine till google play services auto updates.
Then I get closes in gsf.login, location and play services.
If I revert google play services it works again.
Thanks wolfclan68, I'll try those gapps later today.
Right now I'm setting up CM11 deck's build 2014-01-17.
Have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in?
Hi Guys,
Yesterday I had flashed my Galaxy S3 i9300 with a custom ROM from Flashing Droid. below is the link to it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-flashingdroid-v2-2-gs5-bug-fix-t2767784
After the flashing, the device worked well for sometime. Then i Started facing below issues.
1. Keyboard gets minimized while typing and doesn't come up. Noticed one thing during this is that my notification panel keeps refreshing.
2. Device hangs for sometime then resumes. Need to restart the device sometimes.
3. To open any app it takes time - message, call, settings, it is not as fast it is shown in the review video on the above link.
4. Music Player stops suddenly and while playing the tracks stick for a second in between multiple times.
5. Video Recording doesn't work and gives a failure message after few seconds.
6. Cannot turn off mobile data from the notification panel.
7. Also i am not able to change the clock speed of the processor.
Before flashing i ensured i had wiped the device, cleared the cache and followed the exact procedure as mentioned.
i have restarted the device almost 10 times since the flashing of the ROM. In fact i had flashed twice yesterday since it did not restore my contacts and messaged during the 1st restore option.
please help me understand what did i do wrong and please help me solving this issue. Do i need to reflash it?
What rom are you coming from?
Did you do a complete clean install?
What process did you follow?

I am coming from Stock ROM Jelly Bean 4.3. Yes I did a complete clean install. Followed the entire procedure as mentioned on the thread.
I am using CWM recovery. Did wipe factory/data reset. wiped cache and dalvik cache a few times before flashing. Then installed the ROM from the sdcard.
Yesterday the device was hanging every now and then. Later at night i decided to install some other ROM i.e GlamourzS4 which again didn't work at all. Followed the same procedure as above. The installation was successful. But the after rebooting I could only the 1st flash screen i.e. device model no. and thats it - the device goes blank. i waited for more than 30 minutes. Later I again reflashed it to Android Revolution HD 52.0 - a custom JellyBean Rom. Lets see how it works.
Hey all
So after a botched Cyanogenmod install on my AT&T GS3, I am having some issues with the stock ROM. Here's what happened: I tried to install CM using the windows installer, everything went well until the end and then I got a prompt on the phone prior to it rebooting "Root access lost, fix? Yes/No". Regardless of choice, phone would always boot back to stock ROM. Asked for some advice on the CM forum and was told KNOX was the issue. I then rooted the phone using Towelroot, and then installed Super SU. Super SU when opened for the first time said KNOX was installed, did I want to disable it, I chose YES. Re-tried CM installer, same issue, just boots back to stock ROM.
At this point I gave up and just re-installed all my apps and settings, synched my Google account etc. Since then I can no longer download anything from any Google app, it just says "Download failed". So Gmail attachments, links, Chrome etc. nothing downloads. Although stock Internet downloads are fine. Swiftkey now errors saying "Cannot save language pack" then crashes, Swype keyboard keeps on re-enabling itself after I turn it off, and apps that worked fine before are crashing like crazy.
Last night I performed a wipe/factory reset after starting in recovery mode. This did not help. I also noticed that recovery mode boot screen is Cyanogenmod boot screen still, so guessing factory reset is not exactly a full factory reset and it just wipes data/cache etc.
Seems to me like some kind of permissions issue. I downloaded Root Explorer and had a poke around. Permissions look fine (read/write etc.) on Downloads folder. Only thing that looked odd was there are 3 different file system areas so 3 different downloads folders (ie sdcard0/0/Downloads, storage/0/downloads and storage/legacy/downloads). Not sure if that is normal.
Just want to put it back to how it was. Any suggestions what to do next?
Cheers.
Been running Jellybean 4.1.2 (CM10) on my XT912 for ages. Decided to try a Lollipop ROM for giggles so upgraded to Safestrap 3.7.5 and installed cm-12.1-20150606-NIGHTLY-spyder.zip Used PAGapps 5.1 micro from 3/15/2105 for the obligatory Google stuff...
Install went fine, phone boots up, got it all "talking" via the various data methods, phone works, SMS works etc...
Installed Google Play services and Play Store (Don't know why they didn't install since I used the same Gapps file to update my Samsung tablet 4-5 days ago and they were installed then. - but I digress)
First order of business was to get my data back so I installed Verizon Cloud. Went through the "Start" procedure and immediately upon trying to log in, I get an error that says the login process has stopped. Tap ok, message repeats. Tap ok once more and the app exits...
Ok, no big deal, I'll clear the apps' data and cache and try again. Same result.
Uninstall, power off, power back up, reinstall. Begin the "Start" procedure and now it says "Mobile number not found". Interestingly enough, my contacts, photos and music all synced in the background while I was messing with Cloud (No, I don't use the Google stuff for backups)
Uninstalled again, wiped Dalvik, reboot and reinstall. Start procedure blah, blah, blah and back to "Unfortunately, Verizon Login has stopped" again.
Anyone got Verizon Cloud running under 5.1.1? Everything else seems to work fine so far...

My Verizon broke on my Spyder after installing the 9 June nightly. The error was about missing the VerizonSSOLogin APK. Uninstall and reinstall of My Verizon did not help.

Interesting.. For giggles I tried the latest nightly yesterday afternoon thinking something was missing. No change but it now sucks my battery dry in a couple hours, even with all the same power saving "setup" I have under JB.
Booted back to JB for now.. Might set up another slot for KK just to see what that's all about...
Thx
I just uninstalled My Verizon to make the ANR error go away. The data usage widget was the only thing I was using it for anyway.

I don't use Google to back up my data so I'm kinda stuck with Verizon Cloud for now. I think I'll wait a week or so and try another nightly and see how it goes then.
