I was taking snapshots in Superior Auto mode outdoor today with Temp around 38 degrees Celsius. After 4 shots my xperia Z2 gets hot and camera keeps on closing down.
It means to say that this phone is useless for outdoor use during hot weather.
I have the same problem
Just had this yesterday !
the phone was rendered useless
how do they ship the phone to the middle east where summer temperatures are usually more that 40 and not manufacture the phone to handle such temperatures

Iam not sure if any of the one x+ owners out there have experienced this problem. When watching a video, for example using the YouTube app, depending of the type of scene being shown, whether it be an indoor or an outdoor scene, the phone has this gradual change of the the screen brightness level. Now mind you, the display brightness is set to about 15 to 20% and auto brightness is off. Its noticeable as the phone seems to take a second or two to adjust to the new environment within the video.
The dimming issue is also noticeable using the browser, especially when viewing a very dark image and then switch over to a bright one. The phone dims a little when you display the dark image and as you transition to the brighter image it will slowly brighten a little.
This problem can become distracting especially when watching videos that have a lot of transitions between light and dark scenes.
Its less noticeable at brightness levels above 60 to 70%, but i find using the phone at such high brightness level at night irritating to the eyes.
Its annoying since the screen doesn't stay on one consistent brightness level. all the phones i have used before, S3, EVO 3D, S2, NOTE don't show this problem. it doesn't matter what scene is being displayed on the phone, they all maintained constant brightness levels
I would be interested to know if its just my phone that does this or its common issue
So many views but not even one reply...surely i cannot be the only one who noticed this
So I have a XZ right now, but I'm Thinking about upgrading. One of my major gripes with the Z is that it gets crazy hot with barely no use. Now I understand 4K video recording heats it up fast, but how fast does it heat up in general, and how hot does it get?
I have acces to a Xperia Z2
it gets very hot with 4k recording but almost all else it gets a tiny bit warm at the most
4k recording # HOT
Gaming - cool
HEAVY gaming - warm
Everything else - barely warm at the most
Trying to play 3 games at once using mods - suprizingly just warm
52 degrees Celsius is the highest i managed to get it to thus far, aside doing things that "normal people do"
Can't comment on others but with my phone, 4K video only makes my phone warm, not hot at all and this was just under 15 mins straight of 4K recording.
Rate this thread to express how well you can see the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1's display outdoors. In case you've been playing Minecraft for 18 months straight, you might not known how to get outside anymore. Well, find the door and walk through it. A higher rating indicates that it has very high maximum brightness and thus fantastic outdoor visibility in direct sunlight.

A situation got to my phone.
This happened to my phone. When I was browsing while I'm on bus. Then max pro m1 screen suddenly started flickering, then it's touch sense gone, then bigger lines started appearing. I'm thinking that screen backlit panel was damaged due to the Sunlight exposed on screen in the bus, (since i got my phone exposed to sunlight over 30 minutes).
& I thought that after battery 0% restarting phone may solve issue, but no. Screen was still flikering.
I got my phone rooted & i'm in custom rom. So obviously WARRANTY is void.
So, my suggestion to max pro m1 users... Plz... don't expose screen to Sunlight for more than 15 minutes.:crying:

Most Samsungs over the last few years have been up over 800 lumens for me, but this doesn't quite reach 600. It surprises me as it seems very bright. Does anyone else measure the lumens?
Is it brighter than note 8?
Not as bright as my N8. The auto brightness is broken, I think.
My autobrightness works well on my note 9. I don't see much difference in max brightness when in auto mode outside between the Note 9 and note 8 though. When not using autobrightness, having both phones at max, the Note 9 is slightly brighter and slightly whiter IMO.
FWIW, displaymate has rated the Note 9 brightest, most accurate, best display ever. Just like they did with the Note 8 last year, S9 this spring.... Sammy always makes the best displays, and currently the Note 9 has the best display available on any phone.

Nope. I think it's a software bug, when toggling between camera and phone sometimes the phone brightness will be brighter than before.

I think when its in manual mode, you dont get access to the full range of brightness, only after putting it into autobrightness mode. Perhaps Samsungs way of not letting the phone get too hot and igniting like the Note 7?

Its normal, all phone manufacturers do that.
This is because an automatic brightness will be able to increase brightness if it is needed for a short time (like when you are outside in the sun and use it for a few minutes) but it wears out the battery and screen so it needs to cut back after a little while. when you are on manual, the phone cannot regulate so the maximum they can allow has to be a safe level. Most phones also dim brightness when you play a graphics heavy game since temperature is death for your battery. its like thermothrottling for CPU. Totally normal and necessary. otherwise people would complain why their battery capacity is down to 70% after 6 months.
Good visibility but i prefer to have the full control of the max brightness without auto mode
Some phones are great to take camping because if you play Asphalt 8 long enough, the back warms up to the ideal temperature that can bake bread. Rate this thread to express the extent to which the Google Pixel 3a stays cool under extended heavy use. A higher rating indicates that even when playing strenuous games for long periods of time, the phone doesn't get uncomfortably warm.

My A3 was really heating while charging, always around 41 to 43 degrees, and sometimes while playing to. The actual temperature here (south France) is around 30/34 degrees. I asked Google a replacement phone, they send me one new. Same temperature. So the problem was not the phone, just pixel 3a seems to be quickly heating up.
I found a video that I wanted a transcript of. I started Google recorder and then the video. Worked great for 10 minutes then recorder turned off transcript "due to excessive heat". Hahaha. I guess they never tested over 5 minutes. So I tend to give the app and the 3a poor marks in the heat category.

Same experience with recording long videos on my 3a. My Pixel 1 gets super hot when using the camera too. That Google computational photography burns a lot of CPU and battery!
