First, you need to unlock your bootloader (if your bootloader could be unlocked). Refer to this link to check if you can and for instructions on how to unlock it.
Then root your phone with these instructions, read from "Rooting instructions".

The op has LOCKED BOOTLOADER, so before rooting he has to flash stock GB in order to use de xploit mentioned

Unlock the bootloader and root like classic (install the Koush SuperUser app and get the .zip file from it, then flash it via recovery).
You could use [email protected]'s 'Root MANY android' tool if you dont want to unlock the bootloader.

Vroot works... You can download through PCC when you change your CDA to 1276-0361 R5A.

No its not rooted. The advance is that you dont need to change your build.prop. You can flash every version on every phone.

Anyone has the changelog for this patch? I waited so long for update so I changed build.prop to Taiwan. Have been using .510 for a week and I'm loving my battery life. I'm worried they might do something stupid and my battery life would suck again. Today I got 6.5 hours of screen time. Beats my note 2! Love it

Worked fine on my c6806. I bricked mine after rooting previously. Managed to restore it. Had to re-root 2 days ago, did so on the latest version of VRoot and worked perfectly.

Can you downgrade firmware on Sony to a version below .257 and root? I have the c6806 and would love to root but I don't think a firmware lower then that exists for US version?

Great. I WISH I didn't update to 257. Now I've lost root. I've got a locked bootloader and refuse to unlock it.
Now those having a locked bootloader are not able to root at this time.
