Hello!
I have P760 model for a year and a half now and it is starting to be painfully slow.
Do you suggest me to make only a HW reset or should I upgrade to some custom rom?
I you suggest to upgrade, can you please tell me where to start - I have seen that there is some L9 Toolkit - will it do all the things that are necessary to upgrade to custom rom?
Thank you ,
Z
I think you should try KitKat ROM. There's no slow or lag with it First you need to unlock your bootloader because it's required for flash custom ROM. Then install a custom recovery. After that download a ROM, flash with recovery and enjoy
P760 has nice support, for example you can start reading this thread.

Hi , I want to ask some question about flashing custom roms like cyanogen mod on xperia phones
Currently i have Xperia ray with unrooted gingerbread 2.3.4 , 4.0.A.2.0.42 firmware
I want to flash cyanogenmod 7 and my questions are --->
[1.] How can i unlock boot loaders without messing up DRM ? bcoz i heard after unlocking boo loaders update service and some apps wont work.
[2.] How to re lock boot loader in order to get warranty back ?
[3.] Will i need to root my phone in order to install CM7 because , in cyanogenmod wiki they not mentioned root, but i think i need to root my phone
If yes then can i use "Xperia 2011 Easy Rooting Toolkit" to root my phone running on gingerbread 2.3.4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320350
[4.] how to install full functional clockworkmod recovery on xperia ray ?
[5.] While installing cyanogen mod after flashing boot.img , will i able to make backup of my stock rom ?
and how to restore it even i bricked my phone ?
or is it possible to flash ftf firmwares anytime using flashtools, or wotan . is there any official firmware tool for sony phones ?
and how to get official firmware in FTF file format
[6.] When i successfully installed cyanogenmod , will i get all option to install another custom ROM over cyanogenmod (i.e. CWM recovery and rom manager)
No developer replied my questions , after hours of research i found answers
[1]. http://androidflip.com/unlock-xperia-phones-bootloader-without-losing-drm-data-track-id-working/
[2]. re-locking bootloader is not possible this time for xperia ray , sony will solve bootloaders issue very soon , then we will not need to worry about this, although we will lose warranty
[3].no need to root your phone , it is like installing ubuntu on windows without knowing passwords
[4]. fxp made CWM for ray but this time it only works with cm7 and MIUI, there are some experimental kernels with cwm are available but i dont recommend them
[5]. of course you can make complete backup of stock rom
to restore follow this = http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382088
you can also revert to stock using flashtool , follow this = http://androidflip.com/how-to-install-android-2-3-4-gingerbread-update-on-xperia-ray-st18i/
[6]. definitely you can flash any custom / stock rom over cyanogenmod
maybe u can try my tutorial, but that's language indonesian, u use google translate dude, hehehehehe....
Hello there, how are you?
My problem is, I received an Y300 as a gift, haven't yet received it but I want to prepare the necessary things to root it and install custom roms on it. No, this isn't the first phone I install a custom rom to, as I have already played with an Optimus L5 of a friend. Could you please answer this questions?
a) How do I root the phone and install CWM or other recovery? I have found many tutorials but they are confusing, and require waiting for 2-3 days for the code to unlock the bootloader. In case you need to know, it probably is the normal Y300, the international one, so no Asian Model
b) How many ROMS are there for this phone? I like Cyanogenmod and stock roms the most, I can barely stand the stock rom in the phone, so I would like to install a new ROM on it ASAP.
c) By flashing the new ROM, do I lose IMEI or something like that (EFS Folder in Samsung phones)? If so, how can I back it up?
Thanks for your help

Here is a GUIDE to unlock the bootloader and root your phone
Thanks, LS.xD
This was all I needed, I've found a CM11 Rom in the Modaco forums, hope it works well. Just got to wait until I get the phone
Okay, so I downloaded the latest nighly of the ROM, but it appears that CM11 is not very stable and has many problems with SystemUI (statusbar) and other things. Aren't there any ROMS for the Y300 on XDA? Also, will I lose my network connectivity if I do the wipes (data, cache, dalvik cache)?
Again, thanks for all your help, I appreciate it
EDIT: Found CM10.1 here in XDA but it redirected me to Modaco, however it is quite stable, downloading now. So which wipes do I have to do, in order to get everything smooth? Also, as I said will I lose my network connectivity or IMEI if I do these wipes, or I can do this without worrying
Can anyone suggest me the best Custom Kitkat ROM for my LG P769.
I already rooted my phone and hence also suggest me easy method to upgrade my rooted phone..

You can't flash any custom ROM on your P769 unless your bootloader is unlocked. Unlocking the bootloader on these L9's is almost impossible... On the newer versions of the L9, LG encrypted the bootloader. So unless someone figures out a new method to bypass the encrypted bootloader your stuck with it being locked and not being able to flash any custom rom.
There are a few ROMs for the P769 that work with a locked bootloader thought and would be your only option for a ROM other than 100% stock.
I use the Kumakan v3 themed ROM on my L9. There's another one, UltraRom which is based off of the kumankan ROM and a CM9 ROM, all are for 769's with locked bootloaders.
To install them, your L9 needs to be rooted, have BusyBox installed and you use the L9 recovery installer to flash cwm recovery.

If you already have CWM installed, then you're all set to install the custom ROM. Just make sure to run the Nandroid backup from CWM before the upgrade (better safe than sorry).

It means you have replaced the recovery to one that allows you to upgrade your ROM among other things (CWM that is).
Regarding custom ROMs - that's the big question: There are nearly no custom ROMs for this device, or rather to the L7 II series. If you browse the Android development section, you'll find some custom ROMs, but they are all based on the current 4.1.2 one. There's also an MIUI ROM for your device, about which you can read at the end of this thread. According to other threads here, LG has announced it would upgrade the L7 II series to KitKat somewhere round August (which should be any time now), so I guess the best thing to do would be to wait for it (as I do).

ooh thanx man , i was really confused about this , i hope they announce it soon
Hello L9 Community!
My old man has the L9 for a while now and it crashed lately (it gives a security error at boot).
So I decided to unlock the bootloader and then flash a new rom on it.
But before I get to that I need to know what the best ROM is. I'm looking for a fast and stable ROM, I don't need lots of fancy costumalization options. Just something fast and stable.
Are there also things I need to know about this device before I start? Because I remember from my G2 and G3 that it was different than flashing a OnePlus device.
Thanks for helping me out!
I use cyanogenmod 11. It's stable and it has some useful tweaks. You have to unlock your bootloader first, than flash a specific twrp from cyanogen post. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2547442
I hope this helped you
