Lock into LTE only Mode? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

Does anyone know how I could lock into LTE only mode? The phones I am using (T-Mobile & AT&T S5) is not rooted. Nor am I allowed to root it. I've search through all of the debug menus and its seems like I can only lock into certain bands. I havent had any success sending AT commands either....but I am not sure this would still even be capable as I do not know the Qualcomm AT commands to lock into a certain RAT.

Try this: Dial *#*#4636#*#*, look for LTE only option and select that. Hit home to clear out of dialer. Hope this works!

This works on most phones, but not the S5 for some reason. It must be another code.

Correct. That code will not work. I have tried that one. I have also looked through the menus of *#197328640# and *#2263#

I'll be following this thread. Hopefully someone figures it out. None of the apps on the play store work either since they all pretty much redirect to the *#*#4636*#*# code anyway.
EDIT: Oops..gave you a free thanks. Oh well

Ok, so I figured it out. If you dial *#2263# and select "LTE Band Preference" it will lock it into LTE only (I am using an unlocked T-Mobile phone, not sure if that makes a difference). I have confirmed this via AT Commands. I have a new question. I have queried what bands can be selected. Does anyone know which one would be for LTE Band 17? What is "41.WLAN_US_5000"...

[Q] MSL Antenna Hack

So, I went into the Sprint store and I sweet talked the girl at the store to give me my MSL for my phone.. is there a way i can change my antenna PRL like you use to on the HTC EVO and similar phones to get the 3G hack?
What are you talking about "3G hack"?
I imagine we'll be able to eventually...I guess you could try flashing PRL if you are rooted and have the CWM Recovery flashed. Not sure if possible while bootloader is locked still.
Do you mean the data hack to bypass the proxy server?
If that's what you are wanting to do go to the dialer and type ##3282# and click multimedia and then click menu and edit change both IP's to 0.0.0.0 and both ports to 0.

For anyone else wondering what this is for, Sprint downsamples and caches images going to/from phones, and this disables that.

Is there a way to do this Hack with the Photon if I have the MSL of my Phone?
Also is the EPST capable of doing it, or do I need to downgrade my EPST to 2.1?

How do I get my MSL number on Android? I tried using "getprop ril.MSL" but that doesn't return anything. Thanks in advance.
I just traded my EVO 4G for a new Photon.
Would my MSL be the same, or does a new phone mean a different MSL?

There's a MSL reader on the market that requires root or you can call Sprint CS.

New MSL. Root and get it with the market app.
Even though I'm rooted, the new MSL reader still doesn't work since it says that the /dev/smd0 folder is missing.

Call CS and ask them if they can please give you your MSL Code, If they try to say they cannot give it to you, tell them that your not getting service and you need to restart your antenna keys. Works 9/10 time if not just hang up and call again.
I think the op is asking if its possible to get in to diag mode and use qpst to write a new prl such as the 000001 prl that makes the phone run off Verizon towers. The proxy hack works sometimes but it doesn't really help if you have ****ty coverage like I do. Also it disables Sprint TV. So if anybody knows the code for diag mode that would be great.

[Q] Default to HSPA+

hey all,
looking at getting this phone this weekend, but curious about the LTE.. I live in a rural area that doesnt have LTE, we will be on HSPA+ for a while yet. Carrier is Telus in Nova Scotia.
I have read that LTE is a bit of a battery hog, if there is no LTE in my area will the phone keep hunting for LTE?
Can i "disable" LTE and have it default to HSPA+?(primarily for battery consumption)
Thanks
EDIT: sorry i just notice the post about questions going in the Q&A, sorry, if a mod could move it, that would be great
Yes you can disable it. which carrier are you with?
Hi, I have the AT&T S3 and I've used the code *#2263# and selected WCDMA and the frequency, and now it stays on HSPA
I hope it helps!
Thanks thats what I was getting at (wasn't sure if you guys had that option or not) OP there is your method.
You can also get the app Phone Info to change your settings
Excellent Info! Thanks
Do you think the battery life will be better ?

That link shows an LS990 ZV4 unlocked on an international carrier. Sprint has always been willing to unlock the SIM for use with an international carrier. Even with Google Translate, none of the posts on that site make any sense. Were you saying this somehow meant domestic GSM unlocking was now possible?

You need to fix the permissions to the build.prop to stop fc errors after editing the build.prop on the G3.
Everytime you edit the build.prop you need to fix its permissions before restarting your phone.

How to Flash U Firmware On AT&T and Keep Volte & video calling and get lte band 17

How to Flash U Firmware On AT&T and Keep Volte & video calling and get lte band 17
So after Doing some looking around i found out how to get volte and video calling working, and enable band 17 on G930U. I dont take credit for this. i seen it on a different forum and just wanna make sure people know how to fix it.

Okay so after you flash the U Firmware.
edit the others.xml in System/csc. Scroll to the bottom of the xml and change volte and video calling to TRUE. Save and then reboot. The options will be in settings and the video calling icon will be in the dialer.
and to re-enable band I7 Open the dial pad
Type: *#0011# to enter Service Mode (Be very careful with what you do here)
Note: You need to be rooted for this to work
Once in Service Mode, do the following:
Tap the menu button and tap Back
Tap the menu button again and select "Key Input" and enter an upper case Q and press OK
Tap the menu button again and select "Key Input" and enter 4 zeroes (0000) and press OK
Wait 5 - 15 seconds. You'll see the Main Menu

Choose option [1]: SETTING
Choose option [1]: PROTOCOL
Choose option [2]: NAS

Choose option [4]: BAND SELECTION
Choose option [4]: LTE Band Preference
Choose option [7]: LTE ALL (Or you can choose any band instead)
If you want to go back then tap the menu button and choose Back (Don't press the back key)
Once again guys i take no credit for any of this. ive just seen people looking for the information and decided to put it all together for you
I am just curious, what's the benefit of enabling B17 on the device given that AT&T has B12 MFBI enabled throughout its network?
Does this enable the enhanced LTE voice? When you go to About Device > Status does it show IMS registration status as "Registered"? None of the carrier specific features will work unless the IMS is registered on the AT&T network.

Denied by system in sammy service mode. Help!

I come across trying to fix my lte by selecting other bands by using the sammy service mode app to access settinga to change the lte bands but it says it's blocked by the system. So does anyone know how to get it to work correctly? Know what is blocking me from accessing the bands? I know*#27663368378# takes me to the main service menu but no bands under CDMA to choose. Then the *#0011# brings up a no service imei certi : na. So that way seems blocked to. So any help? ?

Try using shortcut master lite, the find the service mode manually, that's what worked for me
