I have AOKP 4.4.2 and it's awesome but my Phone keeps rebooting about every ten minutes. I have seen other people with this issue too. I am not overclocking my processor, so i don't know this is happening every time. I also tried reinstalling it but still.. I tried other roms (CM, Omni, Carbon) where i don't have random reboots at all. Please help me!!
Also i have an unofficial build (by NovaFusion) for the Galaxy S3 mini

Probably better to wait for the next build or try redownloading the ROM. Did you do clean or dirty install?

It could just be a bug so just wait for the next build
Stability issues. Mostly changing kernel will do the trick. Try a stable kernel.
Hit thanks if I helped
Sounds like kernel. Have you installed the boot.IMG from your custom ROM before flashing the ROM in recovery?
From fastboot install the boot.IMG do this:
You pick it out and extract it from your custom ROM zip.
Put it in your adb with fast boot.exe
Boot your phone into the bootloader (fast boot)
Plug in USB to PC and phone
In windows, open a command prompt and direct it to your adb with boot.IMG. "CD c:\adb" or wherever you placed your SDK or fast boot tools.
Type in command prompt "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
It should write your boot image and finish with a big OK!
If the kernel you're using is a zimage, you can Google a tutorial on zimage to boot.img
Boot in recovery and do all your usuals for ROM flashing. In recovery I usually wipe/factory reset, wipe cache, and dalvik . then flash ROM.
This is to ensure you have no issues with your ROM by flashing the kernel it comes with.
I'm still fairly new too but, if I have had any bootloop issues or random restarts, its because of the kernel.
Hope that helps mane!

I have the Evo LTE S-on (HTC bootloader unlocked) and TWRP installed. The only problem I'm having is that I cannot seem to get .zip files to open from the install menu in TWRP (recovery). I factory reset and try to open the zip from the install menu but it just says "Failed". Specifically I am trying Kushdeck's new CM10 ROM. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
PS. Not sure if this will help but on the install menu my files show up twice, the first time with the normal naming and the second with "/." in front of them.
Did u try and re download it again? Sounds like a bad DL if it keeps failing after a couple of attempts
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Ok I'm trying that now. I'm also wondering if there's a problems with my /ext-sd because everytime I factory reset it says it couldn't access that. Do you think that has anything to do with it? Is reinstalling TWRP an option?
Ok thanks so much the re-download did it. But now I'm at a black/blank screen after start up. I factory reset, installed the CM10 ROM then Gapps and wiped the dalvik/cache. Then when I reboot it just goes to the HTC screen and after that nothing. Ideas?
This is going to sound strange but try factory restet, wipe cache/dalvik and then just reboot without trying to flash anything.. I've been having some similar issues as mine isn't recoglizing any MD5 when i try to flash a new rom.. I wiped my phone and have tried to flash a few roms and it fails every time and in wiping my phone it somehow took out my backup so without any other options (that I knew of) I just rebooted and luckily it loaded a completely bare vipor rom like what I started out with when I originally rooted.. BTW, did you create a backup before trying to flash? Should always make a backup....
Ya I had backed up. Turns out I needed to manually flash the boot.img which fixed the issue

Thanks for this. I had the same problem, (S-ON, TWRP. black screen on boot). I was able to flash stock-based ROMs, but not CM10, so I suspected it had something to do with the things that HTCDev won't allow the recovery access to, but the logs from TWRP didn't throw any errors, so while I suspected boot, I didn't know what to do about it. And everyone knows that it's easy to be caviler with everything is working, but as soon as you start having problems, you get gun shy about trying things.
Your post was the solution for me. Extract the boot.img file found inside the zip or your chosen ROM, and flash it using fastboot:
"fastboot flash boot boot.img"

Hey out of curiosity did you like any of the stock based ROMs? If so which ones? I kinda wanna try one out but haven't settle on one
Hi all,
I've been on the CM 10.1 nightlies for some time now, but wanted to try out CM 10.2. I'm on the ICS bootloaders and was using TWRP 2.6.0.0. After wiping everything but the SD card, and attempting to install 10.2, I've had nothing but bad luck with any ROM I try to install. I can install and boot 10.2 Diamond ROM by AAcount, but as soon as I try to connect to wifi I reboot and get stuck at the CM animation. Any other rom (4.2.2 or 4.3) I try to install can't get passed the Samsung logo or the initial CM animation. I've wiped, reflashed bootloaders, tried CWM 6.0.3.6 and had to resort to adb sideloading my ROM's since I kept getting "failed" messages when trying to install the ROM from the tablet directly.
Does anyone know what I can do to help fix this? (At this point I just want ANYTHING to load/work)
I have the P4WIFI model.
Update 1:
One of the error messages I get when trying to install via TWRP -
"E:Unable to open zip file.
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/Download/gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip'"
And via adb sideload -
"failed to write data 'protocol fault (no status)'"

Last time I experienced something like that, the culprit was inadequate memory. Take a look at that.
Secondly, when you said you wiped everything, hope it includes formatting system under Mounts and Storages. If it doesn't then you need to do it for a clean installation.
Cheers.

No, had an issue just flashing in general. I'm not sure how/why, but I wiped my entire internal SD and managed to install DiamondROM + PA Gapps and was able to boot up.
Hello
Today I've tried to unlock my bootloader of LG Optimus L9 (P760) and install a custom ROM. I managed to unlock the bootloader after a few hours (Windows 8.1 sucks in this and do it on Windows 7 netbook is even more harder) and install the CWM. Then I wanted to install CM11, but the installation failed. I didn't realize that I need special version of CWM for this.
Well, I wanted to enter fastboot again a flash CWM again, but I couldn't boot, because the system was now erased. I couldn't install stock ROM, because phone wouldn't connect, so I grabbed older CM9 and succesfully installed it through CWM.
Problem is, that even from there, I can't flash CWM (flash_image recovery recovery.img in terminal doesn't work - shows error "error scanning partitions failed with error -1" - yet another problem no one can solve). And also, phone won't connect to my PC properly, because there is no LG Software mode in CM. Because of that, I don't see the device in adb and can't reboot it into fastboot. I tried to do it via wi-fi adb, which however only reboots phone and doesn't put it into fastboot mode.
What should I do? I can't install stock ROM, which would help (LG update tool doesn't recognize phone now and any driver I tried for "LGE U2 Device" didn't work... If it was available as a rar installer for CWM, everything would be OK again), I can't reboot it into fastmode, I can't flash CWM in any other way and I'm stuck with CM9, which I hate.
I don't understand why there is no other way, how to get to fastboot. Every other LG Optimus has a key shortcut (vol -, power), except L models and that sucks... I'm completly desperate.

Fastboot on these devices is a pain... Make sure you have installed the fastboot drivers twice.
Try flashing the recovery.img with Flashify (root) app from the play store.

Thank you for your answer I got into fastboot afterall by using app named "Rebooter (fast reboot)". It allows to reboot phone and make it go immidiately to fastboot. So great, now I could rewrite the CWM and install ROM.
Unfortunately other problems appeared. I'm using the right version of CWM for installing KitKat Android ROMs (and I've tried others), but I'm still unsuccesful in booting them. Instalation goes OK (ROM + gapps), but booting then is pain in the ***. I can wipe dalvik, cache, system... and return the phone to factory settings through CWM as I want, but every ROM gets stuck everytime on the boot.
At first, it takes at least 15 minutes, until LG logo disappears and the animation of booting starts. I left all ROMs to boot for an hour. But it seems I'm without a chance. Did anybode have the same problem as me?
BTW: This is my 6th smartphone into which I installed alternative ROM. I swear, that this is the hardest piece of crap for installing those, I have ever seen
Edit: I tried other kernels, also without success. It's strange, that I can install only CM9 and PACman ROMs. CM11, Miui, Mokee - no chance

Nope. That was back when I had bad CWM installed. This one is however OK and install goes absolutely right. Right now I'm pretty sure, that problem isn't in kernel, cause I tried every I could find...

If I remember correctly I think the cwm for cm11 has a bug that doesn't wipe dalviks. So flash ROM with the cwm for cm11 then restore the other recovery to wipe data. Or use something like rm -rf /data/* through terminal adb and reboot.
Make sure you mount the data partition first if you use adb and terminal.

hello friends wanted to know if I could help with a rom I put my htc Rezound which was its official rom 4.0.3 with locked bootloader unlock with which HTCDev because my wifi and bluetooth problems and change the boot.img and the cell was bricked me in htc screen and there is no step more, then install android systen recovery and install the rom you liquidsmooth and kenel funky but the Rezound stays in the animation of the rom and there does not pass I wonder if someone could help me I'm s-on bootloader unlock if any rom that works well with me these try installing an exe ruu but I think the 115 Error error loading the image. Thanks I hope to fix my htc.
What recovery did you use? Did you ever flash the boot.img after flashing the ROM? Also, you can't run a RUU without really being S-OFF. If you want some good ROMs, try out Chucktr's CM 11, bunchies Liquid smooth 3.2, or some other newer ROMs. Any should do. But after flashing them in recovery. You have to flash the boot.img manually in fastboot. Or else you will be stuck on boot logo forever. If you want to get back to stock, we can do that after you get booted.

Ok guys, Heres what I do & what happens,
(model # C6833)
1- root device
2- install new boot kernel (adv-stock-v4) (( Even tried v5))
3- unlock bootlader (only had to do it the first time, bootloader stays unlocked)
4- install cwm/TWiRP
5- get into TWIRP or CWM & wipe as I should
6- install rom. (It wont install)
7- reboot
8- stuck @ sony logo. & then reboots,
9- reinstall stock rom
This happens every time I try to install a rom.
I also get the message before I reboot, no root, would you like cmw/twirp to fix it, I go with yes. & ive tryed no as well. no difference. Still get stuck @ Sony logo & get reboot loop.
Any ideas ?
Im not new at rooting & roming.
Hey, it sounds like you're installing NUT's dual recovery and are trying to flash a CM/AOSP based ROM? I didn't find it possible to flash non-Sony ROMs using that recovery, myself. What you need to do is to first flash the kernel (boot.img) from the ROM you're trying to flash. You can do this using fastboot with the phone set to fastboot mode. The FlashTool program comes with what you need, and there's a guide to using it in the development forum. The kernel contains the recovery (either CWM or TWRP), so after flashing that, you can boot to recovery and install any CM/AOSP ROM you wish.

I did the flashtool thing. ( I'll edit my post ) I did the boot.img & Im trying to use SlimRom. Everything seems to be fine until I try & install the rom. Then it goes to hell.
Btw, Slimrom is compatable.
So what's the actual error message you get upon installing a ROM?
Something like, installation canceled. could not install rom. It goes threw a few steps. gets a few things installed (or so it seems) & then it hangs & I get that message. I thought, at first, it may have been a corrupt download. But after a few times of downloading it. I kinda think its no longer that.
Have you tried another ROM? Someone else is also having boot trouble with Slim in its development thread.
No actually, I have not. I will soon though now. And report back. First I need a stock U.S. rom. Just in case. Cant seem to find one.
Been using a CE (Central Europe) based stock rom.
