I have encountered a problem on several different android phones. calendars are disappearing if I install+uninstall the Google Calendar App (the official one)
Steps to reproduce:
install some calendar app (i.e. Business calendar)
install Google Calendar
make sure that your google calendars are shown correctly in both apps.
uninstall google calendar
Now the calendars have disappeared from the other calendar app and there is no way to add them again (they are not showing up in the list).
I have seen the problem on Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Note3, Nexus4+5, HTC One
Installing the Google calendar app again makes it possible to first re-enable the calendars in Google Calendar app and then they are again possible to add in the other calendar apps.
Is there a way to fix this without having to have the google calendar app installed (dont want it installed as it is a huge BatteryHog using 30-40% of my battery for "StartingAlarmService").

And finally I found a working solution myself (of cause only after posting my question here after a lot of testing).
The simple fix (for others with the problem) is:
- go into setting-> applications manager -> all
- Find Calendar Storage
- clear cache+data and force stop
- wait a few minutes as the service will resync calendar data.
Now the calendars are available again
Thanks so much
Thanks man it helped me after some searching

Hi all,
Am running 4.1.1 on a rooted I9300XXDLIH ROM.
I have removed and reinstalled the Google Calendar app as it wasn't working, and still doesn't.
The phone is associated with my Gmail account, but it won't show ANYthing on the calendar. I have checked 'which calendars are displayed' etc but there are no options. Clicking on 'new event', it just hangs on 'loading'...
Any ideas? The Gmail calendar is so useful and I'm missing it!
Is the sync option checked in your google account?

Seems to be an issue on some ROMs. I had same issue.
1. Disable your Google calendar first. Uncheck in sync options
2. Then in all applications cleat data and cache for splanner and splanner widget.
3. Re add Google calendar.
4. Try the calendar now and if it doesn't load events just click sync in calendar setting menu
These steps worked for me

Thanks for the reply.
There isn't a Google Calendar sync option in the list for some reason. There's contacts, Gmail, Reader, books, etc. but no calendar?
Also, there's a SPlanner widget, but no SPlanner? I froze it with RootUninstallerPro, have unfrozen it but it won't come back.
Not only that but Google contacts won't sync for some reason, Fasterfix (improves GPS fixing) won't load, etc. I think I might go back to an earlier version of Android, or perhaps an earlier version of 4.1.1.

Click on your username on the attached picture at the top and it will give you sync options for contacts and calendar.
Sounds like you may need to reinstall. Once you clear caches it works fine

Hi there
I recently rooted my Samsung Galaxy S3 and I've flashed it with Codenamedroid.
I decided I didn't like the 'stock' agenda app so I deleted it.
I have chosen another agenda app now but it seems it doesn't sync anymore.
When I go to agenda's>agenda's to show the list is empty.
At the bottom there is a button that says agendas to sync I am directed to the accounts I added.
When I click on an account I can sync the contacts, e-mails and stuff like that but the agenda isn't in it.
I've searched for the standard Samsung calendar app (and found it), but when I try to install it it says 'app wasn't installed'.
is there another solution to this problem then reflashing the rom again (because I've synced all of my accounts, put personal preferences to apps and stuff like that).
Thanks a lot!

Is the only solution to flash my rom again?
Google Now (on Nexus 7) is not showing 'Next Appointment' card. I've tried several variations of test appointments without success. A friend with the Nexus 7 is having the same issue. My calender is sync'd across all devices (including Nexus 7). Calender notifications are also working across all devices. I suspect the problem is because Google Calender is not showing up in the 'Google Now' Tablet Search list. Not sure if the was the cause or it matters now to fix the problem, but I added Google Calender after setting up Google Now. Weird, Google Calender was not a default installed app. I believe if I can add Google Calender to the Tablet Search list in Google Now, the problem will be resolved.
Not rooted...
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Hi there!
I'm using Galaxy S3 I9300 with Revolutionary S5 ROM (it doesn't come with most Samsung apps and it didn't come with Samsung's calendar app with the green icon).
I've installed Google's calendar app (with the blue icon) but for some reason my calendars from Google won't sync with it. It's completely empty right now. When I go to phone settings > Accounts, "Calendar" won't appear under my Google accounts and when I go to the Calendar app > settings > my account, it sees my email, but there's no calendars inside it.
I've tried:
*Clearing data and cache
*Reinstalling the app
*Rebooting the phone
*Relogging into and resyncing my Google account when the application is installed
Does anyone know about this issue? Is there any solution?
Thanks!

Hi guys!
I recently bought the mi pad 4 and so far I'm pretty happy with it. I downloaded the Google play store installer from xiaomi's webpage and so I got the play store up and running.
However the calendar and contacts app by Google don't seem to connect to my Google account. Contacts stays empty (only showing the few contacts that use telegram) and the calendar app shows a placeholder account, look at the attached image.
I would really like to also use those two apps on my tablet and would love if someone could help me.
Thanks in advanceĀ”
Best wishes

i was facing the same problem, here was how i solved it:
Give all permission, or at lease the permission to modify your contact, to Google Account Manager, Google contact sync and the Google contact app.
Allow these app to started by other apps, in the startup settings.
Also I tried to install google contact sync version 9 but it doesn't work, i downgrade to 8 and contact appear in the google sync option.
As for the calendar issue, try login within the calendar app.
Try to install Google Calendar and Phone apps and they will ask for activating the calendar and contact sync. Of course you need to say "yes".
The above method works for me.
didn't get the prompt to grant certain permissions for those apps, but finally I've managed. Alot of permissions had to be granted manually to both contacts and calendar app and google services.
thanks for the help, guys!
work for me

I was able to make Calendar work using this method but I can't fix Contacts using this method. I wonder if I use xiaomi.eu ROM, will it fix contacts and calendar problems?
