Alternative keyboards for TrueSmart - Ornate TrueSmart

I'm relatively satisfied using the Flesky keyboard with my Omate TS, but since Swiftkey just went free, and I use Thumb Keyboard in my phone, I've been wondering what is the experience of other TS users with alternative keyboards, maybe better suited for small screens. I tried minuum for a while but I couldn't get used to it.

Hi.
I've just installed SwiftKey but it doesn't work. It only displays two lines of letters. Not optimised for small screens by the looks of it.
What works for me is voice typing using the Google keyboard. Pretty good actually.

try flit keyboard :good:

I like MessagEase. The 3x3 layout fits in a small screen and gives me all letters in a single swipe (including french keyboard keys).

Interesting!!
I am using Google Voice because the Omate Fleksy is not in Spanish languaje.
I will try Minumm and Flit

Offence taken.

I preferred Graffiti
I preferred Graffiti to Flesky, Minumm and Flit on small screen of a smart watch, I never see anyone mentioned it though.
I seldom post and still could not post a url, copy and paste please.

I unchecked the Input Word Learning and Word Prediction in its Settings.

After reading around on these forums I went with "Thumb Keyboard". It works perfect and I even like it better than the Swype keyboard on my Droid. It's on the Market and is absolutely worth the $1.87.

I use uber keyboard because it always shows an option for voice entry. Same keyboard I use on my droid. You can get it from the marketplace... But you may need the market fix.
Alternate keyboard
I use SwiftKey.
You can load more than one language at once, scans your mail to anticipate on word patterns you actually use and also has the mike for vocal dictation.
Great keyboard. Available in the market.
Also had some success with smart keyboard but writing both in French and English, word suggestions were a hassle.

Swype on CM7 Android Touchpad...???

Is it possible to install Swype keyboard on CM7 touchpad & if so how do I do it?
I am using Flex T9 keyboard which incorporates "swyping" and it works great.
Thanks I will try that... Though I would prefer genuine Swype just cause used to using that one on my Samsung Epic.
The TouchPad's screen resolution is not compatible with Swype.
Another alternative would be SlideIt.
It will work if you do what I mention in this posting. However, cannot distribute the apk, because swype requests you do not.

TBO, SlideIT keyboard works much better anyway. You dont have to loop for double letters, and it seems to be a lot more accurate. Works right out of the box, no hacks needed.

The biggest problem with SlideIT is that there isn't a way to switch from SlideIT to a different keyboard easily. Since I use ConnectBot, that makes SlideIT too much of a pain to use.

Most keyboards have a button to bring up the "Input options" menu, which contains an option to switch input methods. SlideIT does not.
Download a keyboard, mostly all of them have Swype and customizable backgrounds and everything!
I have the GO keyboard. It's got Swype!!!
I'm having trouble getting it working to be honest :/
The GO Keyboard? It took some fooling around with, but I finally go it perfect.

Long press on any text input box and select "Input options." Select your favorite keyboard and continue typing.

I just downloaded the GO keyboard, but I don't see the option to turn on the swype functionality. Where is it located in the settings?

This isn't true, I had it included in my earlier releases of XRONified but since it isn't included with the Touchpad, the mods asked I take it out.
It worked just fine too....
Don't know that I could use swype on my TP. It's a little large. I am doing great with thumb keyboard.
I will be looking into this! Thanks!

[Q] Best keyboard app for Legend

I have problems writing text messages on my Legend (lots of mistypes). Of course main reason is small screen. Does anyone have suggestion which keyboard app is best for HTC legend?
Thanks in advance.
Swype. It's like autocorrect in a keyboard. Although I think it's only a closed-beta at the moment, so apply on their website!
Next up, I like HTC_IME for its customization and well-developed dictionary. You could type the worst misspelling ever and it will find it and correct it. It's somewhere around XDA.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868131
And then lastly, I like the stock Gingerbread keyboard found in CM7, or another 2.3 ROM. If you don't have it, (like Sense too much?), download a similar one from the Market, such as Perfect Keyboard Free or Gingerbread Keyboard.
Thanks for reply. I have been using Smart Keyboard, but I will try Swype.
I'll stick with SwiftKey X, because of the Good dictionary, prediction and learning sentences you type. Sometimes I get a whole bunch of words out by pressing space only!

I bought SwiftkeyX Keyboard. The Swipe input is not for me.
My vote goes for SliteIT keyboard.

I just installed TouchPal. Works for me. It is free!

I decreased the hight of the keys to see some more of the screen while typing. IF you used swiftkey for a while the autocorrection saves an huge amount of time.
Additional swiftkey has a funktion to detect where you hit the screen when you want to type a letter. This can increase your typing-speed too. See here w*w.swiftkey.net/swiftkey-x-update-brings-blog-learning-heatmaps-and-more
I use SlideIT keyboard on my Legend, got it when Google had the 0.10 cent apps. Great keyboard.

Swype Keyboard Comes Stock! (Sorta)

I have seen some people ask about the Swype keyboard and I would just like to point out that the Asus keyboard that comes on the prime actually has this option embedded in the software already.
1. Go to input options under settings and make sure that the Asus keyboard (not Android) is selected.
2. Then, under the keyboard settings option, choose trace route and the stock keyboard will function as the swype keyboard does.
This keyboard is not as good as swype in my opinion, but it is cool that Asus gave it a shot.
I also apologize if this is in the wrong place for this thread, or if this topic has already been discussed.
Jason
Yeah I noticed that also. stock keyboards still blow though. I'm using slideIt keyboard. Its better than swipe. very fast and easy to use especially if you put it in portrait mode. although I have big hands, I can slide faster in portrait mode. it can work by sliding or regular mode. landscape or portrait mode is good. I've been hearing a lot about that thumb keyboard also. I might try it out soon.
Bad Stock Keyboards
Yes, that is the first thing I noticed was the bad keyboards available stock. They do have a swype type option that works ok but still not very good. None of the keyboard have the push and hold type keys for special characters which is a real pain.
I really want a keyboard with cursor arrows on the primary screen. Isn't everyone annoyed when thay have to make a correction and have to try to tap the screen to move the cursor back to just where you need it????????
Any other suggestions on good keyboard options out there?
Thumb keyboard is the best imo.

The new swype beta is awesome on a tablet. It's an open beta, just sign up and download it. Many new features as well as new dragon voice recognition by Nuance. Alternatively, SwiftKey x tablet is awesome as well, you can split the keyboard like thumb keyboard as well, and has the best predictions I've seen on any keyboard.

What's Your Favorite Android Keyboad & Why??

Hey there guys, I have been on the hunt for the Best Android Keyboad, and I wanted to see what everyone here was using?? I have tried stock, predictive, and the slide type, (I have not had the chance to play with any of the other 3rd party keyboards, with all sorts of different technology's.
So, I was wondering if some of you fellow xda-ers wanted to weight in on this, and help guide me on my adventure??
Thanks in advance :cool

swype for normal language but my most preferred is hackers keyboard. latter has a full keyboard like on pc when in landscape mode. pretty awesome on big screens like galaxy note. also almost every keyboard has the stupid white text entry over the entire remaining screen where there is not the keyboard, which hides my chat windows away and makes landscape a pain. hackers keyboard does not do such. you have keyboard and chatlog.
I like Android 4.2's stock keyboard. It has everything you need. Predictive text, spell-checking, gesture typing, multiple finger gesture typing. I use English Azerty, and it is just great for me!
Swype, until I get 4.2
MultiLink keyboard

Swype, although the 4.2 keyboard's implementation of this looks nice. I also like Hacker's Keyboard on my tablet which is just a PC looking keyboard layout. If they could implement a Swype functionality with it then it would be my favorite.
Swiftkey 3 is my Favourite.
Simply because
1)It is more intuitive than the rest, thus producing more CORRECT Auto Correction
2)It learns your way of typing and in real time monitors all that you type and maintains your individual statistics
3)It individually Learns from your fb,sms, email and twitter threads.
4)It also provides a good number of visual customization options
Thus overall it proves to be the best package

Thanx guys for the input, and all the great info I find ShayonX, IMO, as to swiftkey 3, and as far as "prediction boards", go I think there is no better. I was actually going to go with swiftkey 3, but I just found it was lacking on skins, and customization. I like to be able 2 change the size, and width of my characters, (due to wide fingers), and skins are a great Addition
I tried Swift key 3, touchpal keyboard, go keyboard, and perfect keyboard, and ended up going with "perfect keyboard, bcuz the customization is very deatailed. I also tried swype style keyboard, but I found predictive to be the style for me.
I am running the Moto Phonton, so I won't be getting the 4.0 or 4.2 update, so is there anything else out there to look @??
