Is it possible to make a specific app never update? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I would like to know if there is a way to stop a specific applicaiton from updating. (that is not the disable automatic updates and manually update)
Some applications are frequently updated, and eventually you can reach a point where you have many programs wanting to update, and then 1 or 2 programs which you never want to update because the developer decided to remove a feature for no reason, or made a change that breaks compatibility with some devices.
Overall, I would like to be able to use the "Update All" button without having to worry about it updating the 1 or 2 applications that I never want updated.

When you press the update all button, it opens a popup saying that you disabled updated for certain app. It then asks if you still want to update it or skip it. Not automatic, but does the job

Figure out which apps have updated?

I get notifications that there are updates for some of my apps. When I go to look I don't see anything that says which apps they are. I've disabled Automatic Updates for everything that will let me so I can decide if I want to update, so maybe these notifications are for the ones still left on AU.
But even then, how can I tell which apps received updates? The dates never seem to correspond to the notification date.
BTW...not rooted.

Any apps whether you manually updated or downladed them or
if the auto update updated them would show up on your pull down
notification screen.................
When the notification comes in, I pull down the screen and it will say something like 2 apps updated. If I tap the notification, it takes me directly to my apps but nothing in there indicates which 2 were updated.

I don't know which custom rom you are using but when I manually do
any updates or if google auto updates any apps it shows the application
names and tells me if the update was successfully installed.
The only time the notification does not tell me app names is when
it only notifies me that there are updates to be downloaded.
If the applications have already updated it won't show you because the are already up to date. It only shows you if the application needs to be updated.
Like he said though, if it already updated, then it should show you what was updated.
I also have automatic updates turned off and when I see a notification that any updates are available, I simply go into the Market, click Menu and select 'My Apps' and will see what updates are available at the top of the list.
You should see this as well if updates are indeed set to be manually installed.
I'm experiencing the same behavior. Says updates are available. Go to my apps in the Market... no updates available. I'm pretty sure this is a bug. Not to worried about it though.

Try this,
Go to settings>applications>manage applications then click
the "ALL" tab and click on "market" and click on "Clear Data".
Then reboot the phone and see if the issue is gone.
To answer your earlier question, I'm not rooted.
But your clear data/reboot suggestion worked perfectly! There are 5 apps waiting for updates to be applied.
Thanks!

[Q] batch updating multiple apps - but not all

Lets face it,sometimes updating an app makes it worse. I try to read recent reviews before updating just in case an update screws something up. In those cases I'll try to skip those updates. Which makes it really annoying when I have 25 apps needing updates and I want to skip 3 of them.
Maybe I'm missing something, but the only ways I see to update apps in the market is to update one at a time or to update all. No way to select only those I want to update and do the batch. To make it worse, updating individual also requires accepting permissions....again
Ever since the market was updated from the white and green style (don't know version #), I don't see any way to update an app without selecting it and going through the permissions screen. In the old versions, you could long press and select update right from the 'my apps' screen, which it would then update in the background. So you could move through a list of 25 apps needing update and select as many as you wanted to update without the permissions screen, just the long press on each. But now, your only way to update them without accepting permissions again is to "update all". But I don't want to update all!! Just most of them. Grr.
Am I stupid and missing something? Any way to select most of a list and update a batch but not all?

[Q] Prevent single app from updating?

I tried to Google this but just kept getting results about what phones have what Rom updates and how to update apps.
The recent updates to the Trillian app are pretty terrible, I and many others are choosing to stick with the older version. Problem is I have many apps installed on this phone. Thanks to that update I am no longer able to hit "UpdatecAll" as I do not want the Trillian app to update, so I am forced to manually open the page for each app that has an update and update them one-by-one. A very annoying and tedious processes, especially since if I wait so much as a week there can be up to 20 updates to install.
Is there any way I can somehow block this one app from being updated or put it on a no update lust or something?
I don't like to have my apps auto-update.
Is there really no way to do this?
I would really like to know this too...

[Q] Is there any way to exclude a single app from "Update All"?

I have a HTC M8 running Lollypop.
Recently, one of my most-used apps got an update that is horrible, it completely changed the UI for the worst, is buggy, and removes many features. I couldn't stand it and downgraded back to the previous version.
Problem is, now the update appears in Google Play, and if I hit "Update All" it will try to update it again. Is there any to exclude just this one app from the Update All button, and allow all my other apps to keep getting updated?
Note that I am NOT talking about Auto-Update, which every single attempt to Google about this brought up. I am talking about manually being able to hit Update All but excluding specific apps from being updated that way.
Titanium Backup has a function "Detach user & system apps from Market". I've never used it but it may be what you're looking for.

Question Does the XT2093 have a history of forcing updates?

The Nord N100 was found to have a history with the T-Mobile and Metro versions of software to force updates even if "Automatic system updates" is togged off in Developer Options.
Does the XT2093 ever do that? Anyone ever heard of it doing that?
I haven't had any problems with forced system updates per se. While devops option to disable automatic updates COUPLED with the moto system update app set to disallow automatic installation, I find when there is an update it tells me so and I can then perform a manual download and installation. So it works.
Thank you very much for this tip. I need to go in and find that moto system update app and disallow it.
I am having a hard time finding this moto system update app. I see the "Moto" app on my phone but don't see anything in there about system update.
I think I figured it out. You mean this screen, right?

Yep that's the screen. I should had mentioned it's a menu option within the Android Settings menu screen and not a launchable app.
Keep in mind as is noted as a footnote in the Smart Update screen, security updates will download and install automatically even if the option is turned off. You might end up seeing a notification saying there's an update ready to be installed and suggesting you reboot the device. Outside of disabling the moto software update app altogether I've found no explicit method of blocking these security updates from auto installing.
