I want to buy a new tablet and upgrade from my old ipad 2!!
I was looking at the Z2 tablet and it looks awesome (specs, features etc)
But I would like to ask about other peoples experience with this tab??
Also any other better tablet out there?
No need for this thread. There is already enough info on the net, and there are already enough user reports in forums and reviews on Amazon etc. Don't be so lazy.

If you ask about the best tablet in an Apple forum - what do you think the answer would be ?
If you ask about the best tablet in a Samsung forum - what do you think the answer would be ?
If you ask about the best tablet right here - what do you think the answer would be ?
Just don't ask - try for yourself, don't listen to proud owners.

i just wanted to know if current are happy that they made the purchase and are not regretting it
Basically im not happy, i had the z1 which was great, i have just bought the new z2 and already had it replaced, but both have the same issue which seems to be software rather than hardware.
At then moment the tablet has got a terrible issue with the touch screen freezing and being non responsive.
Not sure how long or if its going to be fixed anytime soon.
Apart from that which is a bit of a let down, the tablet is nice and will be very good once this is fixed.
Sony? can you fix soon please before i send my tablet back?
I have owned several tablets, both Android and iPad and this is by far the best tablet out there. Just make sure you get the 32GB version

Hi All,
Is there any clue yet when the UK release date of the 32GB model may be?
I guess Asus themselves would be hard pressed to confirm given that they seem to be struggling to fulfil US demand at present.

I normally do check out other posts but I've recently started trying to use Tapatalk on my NS and I'm finding it hard work - especially with the diabolically slow/flakey 3G connection Orange furnish in these parts.
Maybe I'm getting old but the bigger screen of the ATP is something I'm really looking forward to!
I've gone back to my desktop to post this.
So.. i think I speak for a lot of hesitant people when i ask this.
Should I?
I had the galaxy tab 7", i now have the xoom (with EOS ICS), i'm not very dependent on the GPS (i use my phone), i am how ever very dependent on wifi, (but not BT)
So.. what do You guys think? if i can live with the GPS flaw and the wifi slowing down using BT at the same time-flaw, is the tab worth it?, would get it with the keyboard docking..
Regards
TES
it seems the problems are slowly being repared, i should w8 a week or two

I'm in the same predicament, though I have never had a Tablet, been waiting for the right one. However I'm a full endorser of Android. ICS has made tablets much more usable on a daily basis.
I decided I'm going to get one this weekend (ATP that is), I've read everyone's gripes on here and it still hasn't put me off, as long as I don't get a noticeable fault ie dead pixels.

Absolutely. It'll be June before the TF700 is officially released, and probably a few months later before it'll be readily available in stores. So, figure September or October. Of course, then, you'll be able to come back to the forum and ask if you should get the TF700 or wait for the TF901 that's going to be released in Q4. And then when that's released and available in January of 2013 or so, you'll want to hold off to see what's at CES 2013 before deciding, and come back to the forum and ask if whatever other Tegra 4 device that's announced is really going to be better than the TF901.
Rinse and repeat, forever, until we evolve into entities that can process information with our brains instantly and communicate across vast distances using quantum entanglement and thus won't worry about such mundane things as mobile devices.
Just get it. Life is unpredictable. Meaning you have no control in this world. Never know when your time is up! Lol

Exactly the reason why I've decided to get the 201. Though I don't know why they went from 101, 201, 700....anyone else know the reason for such a jump? lol.
Anyway yea, i think the design for the 201 is much nicer and the screen is still too small to make HD so much more appealing. besides that, I really don't know why the 700 is so much better.
ATP201 FTW

Well if wifi is important to him... its not worth the the risk getting an iffy tablet since he has a xoom for the meantime. Q2 is said to be the official release of the TF700T, do your math a year = 4 Q, 12/4 =3, Jan = 1, 3 = March. I think he can live with using his xoom for a few more months if wifi is really important or another android tablet with comparible specs as the prime comes out without the problems the prime is having.

I'd go for it. Wifi n device works great for me. Had it since 12/22. Its a great device with "Some" known issues affecting a "Minority" of users. Especially if not a GPS buff like some others..lol
Also beware, the dark side will try their hardest to convince you other wise. Make a decision based on both sides. Take a look at all the polls here n your decision will be very clear n easy
If you don't need GPS, get it. The quality issues are getting flushed out, with defective tablets going back. I have a working Champagne (minus GPS, which was still in the spec when I bought it). It's awesome.

True, but from their beta testers (consumers who have the primes) they are able to find out their fatal flaws of the prime. To come out with an actual tablet worth buying... I still say its the "fixed prime" others will disagree that its not the prime. Same hardware with a new backcover, a little better camera, and a little better screen. A pig in human's clothing is still a pig.
And they still screw up with the TF700T, Asus needs to consider replacing their QC.
Go for it. The tf700 is a fair bit more $$$$, and the nicer screen may just be slower/higher battery consumption. Wifi gets 4/4 bars and drops to 3/4 upstairs, so not as good as my laptop that looses no signal at such range, but consistently hits 5-8mbs down and 2 uo. Seems snappy when loading webpages and streams from desktop media just fine.
Cheers!

Yep, same on the official japanese Sony page. But they keep it very common, no specific countries or anythin.
So in conclusion, yes its coming but if our country is included remains a mystery for now.
If Japan will get in April, obviously other regions will also get by May for sure..

you think they make it ready and keep it in there servers without releasing it to us? And japan gets it, they send feedback, Sony improves and releases it globally.
yeah go ahead and sell it, buy one of those "It has the same look as Ipad" tablet
I sure wish they would "leak" an early release like Samsung does for the devs. Oh well.
There are some interesting goodies coming in the release. I love the ability to open small windows on top of your screen for the browser, calc, etc. I wonder if you will be able to drag the program to the new control bar and have small windows for any app.
I hope they update the remote app, it kinda sucks.
Gary,
Just wanted to see if we can get some sort of progress update... how is testing going, what fixes are being targetted, and what sort of ETA are we looking at for the next firmware? Also, is an official Jellybean release in the pipe?
Every day, more and more Prime users are unlocking their devices (and therefore invalidating their warranty) so they can install custom roms and not feel like they just thrown $500 down the drain. It's sad that people are being forced to do this to make their "premium device" usable.
I couldn't even play the games I bought from the play store on the stock rom. Normally, I'd have to reboot to get them to even launch, and then they'd flake out and force close shortly after.
So, any chance Asus can keep us in the loop better? The silent just compounds the pain people are feeling.
Thanks.
I second this - I have PMed Gary but no reply... Just would like to know something new!

Perhaps his point is that ASUS is able to get a product right when they want to and they apply themselves., which arguably they have not done for the Prime.

Truth be told, the N7 will be Asus' what? FOURTH cut at a Tegra3 tablet? I'd be stunned if it wasn't a bit more stable than the rev 1 product. Not that the obviously poor QA on rev1 is acceptable but that was them trying to force the product into a market window and shorting the QA. Google almost certainly forced decent QA onto them for the N7 in addition to their hard earned experience with the TF201.

.28.5 has came n gone. .29 is the next test release. I will be receiving it to test any moment/day now. I will wait till I find out more details on its changelog before saying what it addresses(they only gave me initial vague description. we need more details). I'd much rather they just jump head first into jellybean 4.1. start from a good stable base. I will try to push the jellybean idea. I already told them about I/O issues are main complaint and linked them to various threads and solutions found. So i would think they do know about it and working on it.
as far as the other support person. I think he operates more through PM and emails.
I think we will get jellybean soon. its a matter if developers or Asus will bring it first. I know AOKP and CM9 TEAM already plan on their future releases being jellybean based.
I can only hope that they do something about the IO issue in the next update. The prime becomes unbelievably slow at times when the IO activity rises. Doesn't matter it has a quad core if the bottleneck is elsewhere.
I'll be unlocking this evening too ... seems like there'll be some time again before the release of a stable stock ROM ...
Current release to AOSP /jb is now 4.1.1. Continuing to try and mess with the failed build of IML74K 4.0.3 imo is just a waste of time for Asus get to work on porting N7's 4.1.1 already

You mean their hard earned experience at our expense, right?
Except that some of the problems with the TF201 were amateurish - the kind of mistakes that anyone with any training in radio and electronics engineering should never have made. That was compounded by the equally amateurish QA process (hey, Asus isn't a new company - they didn't just start making these things last year - they've been making motherboards, desktops and laptops for a decade - it shouldn't take three or four tries to get it right) and the appallingly lame approach they took towards 'fixing' the problem after trying to deny it existed.
Then, to add insult to injury - they release the TF700 and TF300 - both of which have the problems fixed.. except the TF700 has a much higher res screen - AT THE SAME PRICE... and the TF300 is much cheaper... Both of which were announced less than a month after the TF201 was released - and after Asus has restricted returns of the TF201 making it impossible for many people to change their minds.
I get that a lot of people here just want to feel warm and fuzzy about their choice - I know I do - and if you want to deny reality to make yourself feel good, hey - that's why psychosis exists. But the facts speak for themselves.
Me.. I fully understand how he feels. I know I won't be touching another Asus product again, which is sad because I actually *like* the Prime - I just hate how Asus bungled it and haven't seen anything to restore my trust in Asus..

I agree! The time to fix 4.0.3 has come and gone many months ago when they had their lead developers focused on the TF201. I'd much rather be testing a beta release of JB 4.1.1 than a new beta release of .29 firmware.
Hey guys, my girlfriend is planning on buying a new phone, so I've been doing some research for her and looked at Xperia J, P and Sola. It seems many people have problems related to the wifi, battery and touchscreen (mostly wifi though). It seems they all agree that after updating to ICS, the problems occur. Otherwise, it's fine on GB.
My question is, are these problems fixed in the latest stock rom or in any of the custom roms? If not, I should probably stay away from it because my girlfriend isn't tech savy like I am, so she wouldn't know what to do or even want to bother with flashing kernels or mods or fixes etc.
You could say that she could just get something easy to use, like an iPhone or something, but that's expensive and out of the question.
Anyway I would appreciate if you guys could share your problems and feedback, thanks.
I would say none of these phones, she would be unhappy with all I think lol, get a HTC or Samsung
