Can someone explain why this is important we already have root. Other than making it easier to root without a custom kernel what have we gained? Sorry I want to be excited like everyone us. Please be kind

I was stuck on NC4 and had lost root. It's good to get it back so I can do things again like Tasker, Titanium Backup and Ad-away. Not show stoppers but definitely conveniences I had missed a lot.

And yes, I can confirm that Towelroot worked successfully for a Note 3 running stock NC4 firmware and ROM. Easiest root ever.

I can't believe how easy and fast it was. I lost root yesterday when I soft bricked my phone. That silly Chinese root crap had popped up a bunch of unreadable prompts and in haste I accepted the official NC4 ota when I went back to MJE.
Well worth the donation once I get to a computer. So freaking easy I did not need a computer.

Removing all the bull**** bloatware, customizing your phone both aesthetically and functionally, using stuff like Xposed, custom roms built for speed/lean-ness, etc
The list goes on.
so i was stupid and isstalled clockwork after doing towel since i thought out bootloader was unlocked and now i have the bring to verizion store thing. so im downloading the ota for odin and im going to flash it, my question is once i do it can i then install towel, busybox, then safestrap and be okay?

I could be wrong but according to Hash instructions if the rom doesn't have busy box it says to install busy box so if it's a stock rom you'd need to install busy box then safestrap.

Yeah i tried it, works fine. The version I tried wasn't scaled for the DNA screen but the regular CWR wasn't at that point either. Regular CWM is now scaled correctly, not sure about touch version.

Once you are rooted and unlocked you do not want to ever take an OTA update. If you manage to take the VRALL4 update you will lose root and re-lock your bootloader. For now Adam Outler and his crew were able to adapt to this update but there is no guarantee that will happen with the next update. Below is a link that has the verizon modems if you want to manually flash the VRALL4 modem.

Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
The only way to get 4.1.2 on a verizon phone is to flash a ROM based on that version (Verizon hasn't done an official update to 4.1.2). I would suggest reading up on the 4.1.2 ROM threads and you can google the 4.1.2 changelog to see what changed. The update is pretty minor in my opinion but there are definitely people who will disagree and are on the new builds.

What baseband are you on? If you are on VRALJB then the update is for VRALL4 and you definitely do not want to take it as it is going to reload your bootloader and you are going to have to unlock again. As for what the VRALL4 update contains apart from the relocked bootloader, it was a very minor update to the radio. I didn't notice anything different but you can google the changelog for the specifics. It did not contain an update to 4.1.2. The link I provided above will get you to the VRALL4 radio if you want to flash it.

And you will get a boot loop with a custom recovery you will need to flash the stock the stock recovery first.

Yes, that is all that I do as well. I have had this phone since v10e and with every update I never did reflash any recovery but it's better to be safe than sorry. Also, don't forget to put all of the apps back that you may have deleted. And get rid of link2sd (unlink before you uninstall the program). And get rid of busybox. . .look it's just better if you flash a new ROM. Oh yeah and download and install voodoo rootkeeper then hit the save root button at the bottom before you do the OTA. Good luck everyone!

Yeah, I'm pretty confused myself about it. I have seen some complaints about 20f with the random rebooting issue and whatnot but nothing big. From what Kuma said it's nothing big at all. He said he was on it for a bit but not long enough to test it. So I"m assuming its still 4.1.2 but can't confirm just yet. I don't want to flash the ROM just yet but if I get bored tonight then I just might do so. . .
Whatever it is, t-mobile has the optimus l9 now listed as having 4.2.

I believe T-Mobile made an error. They have had it posted for like at least a month on their website that the L9 has 4.2, and nobody has confirmed getting 4.2. At one point, the listing even said the T-Mobile L9 had NFC as well as 4.2.
It still says that actually. Checked it today.

Here I have with me the engineering bootloader for our Galaxy Note 3. It is version NAB so as long as you're on a KitKat bootloader, you can flash this. I recommend being on software NAB or NABD already, but if you are on NA4 this should also work. Please note I will not handle support or take responsibility for anything you do outside of flashing this bootloader on recommended software versions.
WARNING:
This has the potential to BRICK your device, so use it at your own risk.
What is the purpose of this bootloader?
Well, I believe that having this bootloader will allow us to easily flash basebands in the future, as long as you don't flash any Odin TAR files, or take any OTAs, you will retain the bootloader. I do not know if you will be able to downgrade again in the future to this bootloader, but for now, you have it. It may also be possible to downgrade with this bootloader back to NA4, then from there back to MJ4. But, who would want to do that?
Who is this for?
Devs, enthusiasts, flashaholics, people that know what they're doing.
Who this is not for?
Average Joes, those who want to take very little risk with their phones, those who don't know what they're doing or what potential an engineering bootloader has outside of basebands, and those who don't like seeing a bunch of engineering text when booting up, into recovery, or into download mode.
Instructions:
Again, make sure you are already on NAB or NABD.
Flash with Odin.
Profit.
Download:
NAB engineering bootloader

You will want to be on a 4.4 ROM/bootloader already.
Check the general forum for leak thread alnog with the odin flashable TAR that is there. That will get you on 4.4.2 stock, then from there you can flash this bootloader and any other 4.4.2 based ROM. Since none exist right now besides AOSP, you'll be stuck on stock until the devs start to push out their 4.4.2 ROMs.

Did you boot into Download mode from a cold start? For the S4, a cold start reboot often made the modem flash stick (power down completely first then boot into Download mode).

Depends I have seen anywhere from 15 - 25 mins. As long as it's not hanging up anywhere let it run until it gives you an error or a success message. You could try moonshine because your on 4.1 and see how it goes.

Take a look at the "am I too late to root" thread in general.

If you do not gain s-off, you'll need to, fastboot flash boot boot.img
Using the boot.img from the Rom you flash.
Then it should boot.

I believe he's reffering to the one in the ROM.zip that you've flashed. Extract it from the ROM .zip - flash the ROM as normal - don't reboot, flash that boot .img THEN reboot
