Ok, so for some unknown reason (believe me I've searched, but to no avail) I don't have the option to block or secure messages on my AT&T M8. The only option is All messages without a drop down.
A long press on one of my message conversations & the message options are:
Delete
Call
Open contact
Save to task
I called HTC & they tried to say the AT&T version doesn't have the secure box option. WTF?!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
It's built into the message app. You will need a custom Rom or convert to international or dev edition

Well, it should be built in, but in my case it's simply not there. I was hoping there was a way to make the options appear without going to an entirely different rom.

Nope. Its like the visual voicemail app. We have that, and Dev edition does not. It's programmed into the message app to display voicemail as well as text. The secure box is built into the international message app. I suggest you wait for a Dev edition Ruu, or flash a rom

So, nobody has that option on an at&t m8? I read on HTC's
Site where it shows it's the exact option/ process as the M7, so I just thought perhaps it was something that dropped off after rooting.
If I do flash another rom, are there also blink feed & zoe camera options that I can add? BTW, I currently have twrp as my recovery.
Thanks

In a reverse situation you would flash the stock recovery and perform a factory reset in HBOOT. You could always try that.

at this point I have no clue what you have done in that other menu that you had no reason to be in. What I would do is backup, install a Rom quick, and you will know if it's something you did. The menu and steps I listed above is the way you switch from 3g to 4g and back on any Rom pretty much.

So, I have used ARHD on my m7 for the longest time. Due to AT&T having an awful VVM app I reluctantly used YouMail. Having seen the AT&T new VVM app, I'm hoping to get it working on my m8 with ARHD. I don't know if any of the devs in this corner of the woods have some insight or not. I have installed the att_vvm.apk and it shows its installed, but no icon appears.

It seems the AT&T and WWE versions of messages are the same. That is of course if you were referring to the Messages.apk
Since I have no way to launch the VVM logcat is pretty much worthless to me right now as well.
Still no dice. Logcat only shows a few things about the att vvm app, no errors though. Not sure how to track down any more info.
Well I restores back to a stock rom to investigate, and it is definitely tied to the Messages.apk, if i freeze it in Titanium VVM also disappears.
Can someone please upload the messages.apk from the AT&T ROM?

Stock Messages app.

There must be another dependency outside of Messages.apk and ATT_VVM3.apk. I just wasn't sure where to look. Maybe as deep as SystemUI.apk?

That's why. ARHD is based on the international firmware. Your phone isn't recognized at being AT&T so the Play Store won't let you download it. For me, I had a Titanium Backup of VVM that I just restored. I'm not sure how you could get it. Maybe a build.prop edit or something probably. Someone else may chime in.
Still the proper goal is to get the HTC version of VVM running on WWE roms. It is much cleaner looking and is integrated into the phone app itself.
I don't want to bother Mike with such an unrelated task, but I know there are many ARHD users on AT&T.
I don't know how to track down dependencies so my only way to contribute is to blindly flash apk's from AT&T over ARHD until it starts working.
This is really bugging me trying to get this to work lol
I have two days off soon. I will spend some more time trying to get it working. Specially since we have system rw it should be a simpler process.
I just received my vzw one max replacement device today and when I activated it automatically started to upgrade the firmware to 4.4 I didn't want that to happen. I didn't see a way to stop the ota process so I turned off my device. It was at 10% when I shut it down. Is there a way to manually make the downloading process stop? If I have to let it continue will I still be able to root/unlock using the same method rum runner. I'm asking because I still have all of the files for rooting and unlocking that I used on my other max saved on my pc. Thanks I hope I didn't make this to complex.

It'll ask to install after downloading. So no worries. Just root as you did before. Download and apply update, reflash recovery/su. Then you should be good to go .

Obviously you have not "tried everything" based on the thread you created: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2795256
A pet peeve of mine when folks on here say they have "tried everything". Not only is this virtually guaranteed to be false; but it also doesn't actually tell us what you did try (making it difficult to offer any help).
So we don't have to convert to GPE in order to use the GPE custom Rom right?
