Hello all,
I currently have a stock prime so far that I just started using again.
I am looking to unlock it and put on the 4.4.2 rom from j50036 called - CROMBi-kk
I am curious to know though if I can't get it working well since I will be using the keyboard a lot with it for school,
is there a way I can downgrade it and get back to a stock device?
I couldn't find anything in the guides so far other then the dos and donts that say not to flash the super blobs from asus.
How might I go back to flashing stock rom after I have rooted the phone if I need to?

Yes you can do just about anything once unlocked and you have made your nvflash backups....
The only thing you will not be able to do is relock you tablet....
There is a way this must be done and the info is out there but not in one nice place
If you would like help with this shoot me an email @ [email protected]
Thx Josh
Been looking through the stickies and a few searches. Can't really find much about how to do a backup through nvflash. I only see one thing about flashing unblobs or something called wheelie. Do you know where I can find out about the backup process?

I'm searching too for a method to leave my Transformer Prime TF201 as 'new' and factory default... what steps to follow? for example, how to make backup nvflash? and then, what?
Thanks in advance!

I have a quick question. Right now I am running the latest version of wookie rom. If I wanted to go back to Asus stock rom could I? Could I download the image from Asus website and use twrp to flash? I thought I read somewhere that I could brick my prime if I do that. If I can brick it, is their a safe way to go back to stock?
Thanks
Well if you are running a rom, i'm going to assume your unlocked.
If you unlocked then i suggest you get your NVflash backup files. Because as far as i know, that will make you unbrickable even from bootloader flashes.
As far as how to flash back i'm not sure, but I know there is a tutorial somewhere on XDA.

This will result in an unrecoverable brick. Try downloading the stock for unlocked, located in this forum.

1) this is not a development topic and should not have been posted in the development section, this should have been posted in general, or q&a.
2) follow the thread on getting nvflash access, that way you are protected from bricking once it is done, it requires being done first, so do that now. you cannot get nvflash access from an already bricked unit.
3) as long as you have the above you should be fine to attempt flashing a stock asus update. The problem with stock asus updates is still rather unknown, some units will flash it fine, others will brick, we have some theories, but nothing solid until we can get someone with nvflash access to get into this situation.

You can't. ASUS told me to send it to them to revert. I suspect the bootloader would still be JB so you would still be screwed.

You would have to ask them if it would still be JB bootloader if you sent it in. Nobody on here has posted a way to do it and believe you me, I have been wanting the same.
If you are worried about Brick-Proofing, unless you are flashing often its not that big a deal so long as you follow the directions.
No matter what you do, to flash you have to unlock. Once unlocked there is NO WAY to re-lock. The device will ALWAYS say "unlocked" on boot up so a TWRP backup will serve the same purpose to get you back to a stock OS.
Just don't do anythig stupid, follow directions, don't flash a ROM with recovery on it and you should be safe.
Hi guys,
im gonna cut to the chase. some time ago my tf201 was having problems and i went to asus site n downloaded and installed everything that had to do with the tf201. turns out that included the unlocker tool which as i understand voids warranty and prevents update? is there some way to remove this? and if not, is there anyway to install jellybean into my tf201 (currently ICS) i really want to install jellybean so any help is much much appreciated.
on another thread i posted someone mentioned something about downloading a rom from the dev forum? kinda have no idea what to do. hope someone can shed some light on this
Unintentionally unlocked? I would say it is blessing in disguised
Try custom ROMs like Androwook and Energy.
I am using Androwook. I am very very happy with the performance. The tablet feels definitely faster and smoother than stock. Heard that Energy is good tho I have not tried it yet.
Thumbs up for Androwook Hairy Bean!
Everything you need on the page to update to jb bootloader and rom. And a very helpful community.

where to i get that? how do i install it?? is tthere a STEP BY STEP guide? im afraid of messing up further. and isit jelly bean?? theres an app i wanna install but its onnly for jellybean
To: tuckermission. thanks for the reply on my other thread. thanks for the link but how do u get stuff like custom recovery??? im a complete noob. would appreciate any help
i see stuff like nvflash, custom recovery, unlocked bootloaded, jb bootloader. and its making me woozy
am i supposed to root first?
FYI:
Android version --> 4.0.4
Kernel Version --> 2.6.39.4-00003-g12de84f
[email protected] #1
Build Number--> IML74K.TW_epad-9.4.2.21-20120323
Pad EC version--> TF201-PAD-0215
So when have you unlocked your tablet or not? I'll help guide you through this process.
its been unlocked for quite some time now... sorry but i cant rmb the exact date
Alright so if you want Jelly Bean all you need to do is get the Jelly Bean boot loader. The easiest way to do this is to flash a rom that has this included in it. Do you have TWRP installed?
sorry was refreshing like an idiot n didnt realise it went on to 2nd page...
put it this way. i havent done anything other then unlock it
some people have been asking me to get hairybean from andro wook? isit the same?
I followed McJesus15's writeup (thanks btw) to install the twrp recovery. I used the Option 2 (Easy Option) to install the recovery and it was VERY easy and I had no problems.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998359
I then went to the below page, read through it and flashed Androwook 1.51 to my Prime. It's never run so good.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674827
I was always on the fence about doing this because I didn't want to screw anything up, nor void my warranty. I am glad I waited because I recently had an issue with my rear camera and had my Prime replaced under warranty. Now that I have a good working Prime and it's almost out of warranty, I said what the heck and upgraded. I also bought a dock and have finally put the 'Transformer' part of Prime to some good use. I LOVE this thing now.

Man, sorry I missed that. If I understand right, look into nvflash. I read with that, you can essentially never brick your prime and if you are still on ICS you can install nvflash. Once you get JB installed, you can flash to Androwook or other custom rom. I am not an expert so please research and good luck.
okay thanks
kay i gtg sleep have work tml. ill check back after work.
sorry for being a total noob and i appreciate all the help. anyway it sounds like nvflash is really important? and what are custom recoverys and how to get that onto my TF201 ICS? hope someone can help me.. thanks in advance!
helps plsss
shoild i install cwm??
I just got of the phone with a representative on ASUS SUPPORT. He asked
around his office to see if he could provide me with information on this issue
that is keeping those of us that went to the latest firmware without doing the
NVFLASH process... He said that this operation is possible and can be
done by unlocking the bootloader (which I haven't done for many reasons.)
But now that Androwook has come out with the Hairy Bean ROM, it is
crucial for me to be able to do this. Stock ROM is Just the worst that can be
with this tablet now a days. I want to know if there are any links to this process,
either flashing TWRP after unlocking the boot-loader, or using cmd, flashing one
of the other firmwares on ASUS's website, Or some other way that someone
has done. By what ASUS told me, this is possible. I need clear and thorough
instructions and proof of this. I am not a developer, just an amateur on this. Pretty
techy, so there is no need to dumb things out too much for me to able to follow. I
am currently on 10.4.18.... android 4.1.1. Any other relavent information can be
obtained by messaging me or something. A lot of us need this help so we can do
the NVFLASH process and go on to make this tablet that is no longer in style great
again.
When I sent mine in, I told them to downgrade to ICS. They did. I was excited to do NVFlash. But when I tried doing it, it just wouldn't work properly. I don't know why, but I just ended up upgrading to JB and doing the Androwook thread instructions.
Bootloader....

Maybe it is possible to downgrade the firmware to ICS but not the bootloader? possibly? I just want a basically indestructible Prime. (unbricable)... can you post the Androwook thread here so I can check it out.?
thank you.
Hmm, that could be a possibility but I'm not expert.

Hello again all, I just have a few questions about rooting my sprint gn2 before i get started. I have found several instructional guides through xda (thanks to all that post them would be lost without ya!) however i am concerned because i am running the new updated version that some of these methods may cause me some issues. I suppose my question is most of these guides were made quite some time ago, and this update has only been around a few months now, is it safe to follow for example this guide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9zF6x1MURM&hd=1&list=SPwCVKEYxr_z7FBQYT32dbYw_kdSJmSDH2Do I need to revert back to a prior update somehow? I have searched for a few hours now and there does not seem to be much information on rooting the device after the latest update. Looking forward to running custom roms thanks for the help.
PS if there is anything you think i should know before starting feel free to chime in i will definitely send a thanks your way!
PSS I see that 4.3 locks down the bootloader completely.... this is bull****...... Anyone know whether the phone i get through insurance when i "break" my phone would come loaded with 4.3 as well?

Thank you, I had read about kingoroot and am sure that is the route i will be taking (as it is my only choice) however would i still be able to backup using twrp? will i still be able to flash custom roms? these are really the only two things i care for doing.. and running root only apps like titanium backup but that is a given. Thanked for your help btw.

That I'm not sure. You would no longer have unlocked bootloader and I always thought the two ways to have custom recovery were if bootloader was unlocked or via a safestrap method. You would have root so I'd check and see if recoveries exist for sprint note ii after this root method of 4.3
I believe you would be unable to flash a new rom/kernel as they require a custom recovery to do so, and with out a unlocked boot loader you wouldn't be able to get a custom recovery.
