-I was using whatsapp with my number on my android handset till it lost SIM card functionality due to falling and stuff
-Put the SIM card in a Nokia phone but was still able to receive whatsapp msgs and updates on the android handset.
-I'm going home and would leave the old handset there (after doing a factory reset) and will buy a new one.
-So if I put the same SIM card in the New android handset then would I able to have whatsap with the same number?

Replace card that wont send SMS with another one (same number, but new SIM card). You can ask your operater to do that. Maybe they will charge you with some small ammount of money. That solved my problem.
no, its two diferent operators.
i install other rom...
same ****...
i realy dont know what to do.
i try diferent sim card from same operator and no music for me again.
Same problem. All options are checked up with the operator, changed SIM cards, but the problem remains.
You should change sms service center number with the one from your carrier.

I change 2 SIMs, 5 ROMs/radio, and every time check all settings (service center number included), but....
every time "not possible sending SMS"
For an app that I am currently developing we want to read data from the SIM card of the user, which works fine. We want to make it possible that the user can switch the SIM card while the app is running. While doing this the OS request a device restart and we cannot seem to suppress this message.
Is there a way to make it able to insert a SIM card while the app is running without restarting the device. I'm open for all options (rooting, custom rom, etc...)
Hi,
my no-brand Galaxy S III GT-I9300 was working fine running CyanogenMod-13.0 nightly with my Vodafone Italy sim card, until I used for some weeks a sim from the italian operator Tre. When that contract expired I discovered that my phone didn't accept anymore sim cards from the italian operators Vodafone and Wind (it shows a message complaining that there is no sim card), while it works fine with the italian operators TIM and Tre. Sim cards that my phone doesn't accept are well working in other phones.
Previously all sim cards of all operators where working fine.
I tried the following with no result:
1)- wipe all user data;
2)- install the original Samsung firmware JSS15J.I9300XXUGOE1, followed by another wipe user data;
3)- restore from a full nandroid backup, including modem, system, user, cache partitions and EFS, taken when everything was working fine.
I've checked my IMEI number on some websites and it seems to be clean.
All the hardware in my phone, including the sim card reader, should be fine because everything works when inserting TIM and Tre sim cards.
Can anyone give me some help?
Thank you in advance.
It is very possible that tre have locked the network lock but not only is it bad practice but also at the end of any contract, providing it is paid up in full, the operator is obliged to unlock the network lock free of charge.
The best way to start is to call tre and ask if they have put a lock on it but just habe a look at the sim cards first and make sure they are the same where the gold contacts are.
If the other sim cards were active and not used within a certain timescale, usually 6 months, the sim card will be remotely deactivated and the number returned to the pool for someone else to use. Im this case you must realise that you simply "lease" the number from the operator. You never own the number, only the simcard it was attached to.
If your rom is 4.2 you can unlock it yourself by changing a byte in nvram, very easy to do.
If your phone has ever seem 4.3 or later you can't unlock it without a proper network key.
A word of warning though. Be careful with the efs partition.

I was long time user of one telecommunication provider. When I transferred to the new provider I bought their SIM card with a temporary phone number. Because I wished to transfer my old phone number to use with my new provider, they needed a couple of days to do that and at that time I used both numbers (the old one with the old provider, the new one with the new). After a couple of days they transferred my number and I was able to use my old number with my new SIM card from my new provider.
When I was using the stock firmware with EMUI 9.1, most of the applications recognized and used only my old phone number (the one I transferred from the old provider and I use to make calls). It was (AFAIK) also the only number shown in Settings -> About phone -> Sim status (Slot 1) -> Phone number on SIM. On custom GSIs like LIR and CAOS most applications use my "new", temporary number.
Why is that and is there any way to fix it?
