Hi!
I should probably start by pointing out that you need the Xpose Framework installed to use this! Click here for the Xpose APK and more information about it
I've been looking over the Xpose Framework recently and I've become really impressed with it. So in learning it, I went ahead and corrected a few of the things I didn't like about the stock TouchWiz ROM on our Note 2's. I thought I'd go ahead and share this mod because I think I'm not the only one who prefers google voice search over S-Voice. The best bit, though, is that long-press search is just a regular Intent that any app can answer, so you're not locked down to Google voice search either!
I've attached the HoldHome APK in the post below.
One of the other things I managed to 'correct' via Xpose was that snoopy SysScope app, incidentally. I'm a bit concerned about releasing that one though, for obvious reasons.
Hope you guys find this useful :fingers-crossed:

Will test this out after work. I have been using Home2Launcher, but would like not to... expect an edit around 2AM EST.
EDIT - unfortunately it does nothing for me, double press had no response. Disabled the home2launcher, rebooted after activating module, no luck...

Hmm. Did you disable the the S-Voice activation on home press setting in the SVoice app itself? (Menu button in the SVoice app -> Settings) You need to have that setting enabled so the mod can hijack the intent it generates.

I do not have S-Voice installed, guess this won't work for me...

Ah, there we go then. This is designed for the stock roms where S-Voice pops up if you double press the homebutton. Custom Roms would be too varied for me to target
Thank
It also gives option to other voice dialer like cyber on voice command,
Or can configure to voice calendar too.
Thank you.

Im running stock touchwiz on my Note 2, with the Xposed framework and I can't get this to work. The module is there and enabled. I have nova launcher installed but removed all gestures. I have disabled s voice option as you stated above.
Holding the home button simply brings up the multitasking menu. Double press does nothing now that I have disabled it in the s-voice settings.

Have you remapped the long press search? Long press home and you should see a magnifying glass. Hit that button and select Google Now.
Where do I remap the long press search? Like I said holding the home button simply brings up the multitasking menu. Double press the home button does nothing now that I have disabled it in the s-voice settings.
When you long press the home button and the multitasking menu comes up there should be 3 buttons at the bottom. One is a trashcan, one is to check the RAM and the middle button should be a magnifying glass. Hit that and set Google Search as your default. Here's two screenshots to show you before and after. It goes from magnifying glass to the Google logo.
Thanks works great for me ..t mobile note 2
Working as the dev says. Thanks

Works great here! Thank you!
Suggestion : upload your module onto the repo website so that it appears in the "downloads" section of Xposed 2.2...

You got it wrong... "s voice option" needs to be enabled.
Then next time you double click the home button, instead of having SVoice, you get a choice of apps which can react to a "search longpress" event (in TouchWiz ROMs, "double click the home button" = "search longpress").
For me, I could select among phone, widget locker, go sms, google now, secure settings,...
Select the app you want and click "this time" or "always" depending on what you want.
Done!
Very nice module!

Maybe I will try this out - could you set it to perform a 'secure settings' function, instead?

It seems so. But you need the PRO version of Secure Settings (which I don't have, so I cannot fully test).
Doesn't work work me. I still get the G icon instead of the magnifying glass. Svoice is enabled too.

What magnifying glass were you expecting? And where? "Long press search" is totally different than "search"...

This is the direction i'm following and i do not see the magnifying glass to set google search.
^
If you already have the G icon then you already have Google search... You don't need the magnifying glass. The magnifying glass comes up when you have S Voice disabled and nothing mapped to the search function. Disable S Voice and then use this module. Do you understand what this module is for?

One finger's enough, you just need to tap thrice quickly after enabling Magnification Gestures. It'll be harder to move, though, but you can zoom in/out.
I'm not aware of any app that provides magnification.
Hey guys. I don't know whether anyone knows or cares but I found a guide somewhere on the internet on how you can use the double tap the screen to turn the screen off while using Nova Launcher.
1. Download the app Screen Off and Lock by katecca.
2. In Nova Launcher go to Gestures & Input.
3. Under Gestures select double tap and then use the option to select an app.
4. Select Screen Off and Lock.
5. Tap the sheet out an empty space on your Nova desktop
What I Do is use the shortcut for hibernate and screen off on double tap with greenify
Double tap on status bar will screen off, either with Nova nor stock launcher...
I use Chronus time / weather widget and have the single-tap on the weather icons to launch "Greenify Hibernate + Lock".
Works really well - didn't even know about the Greenify apps until I read the post from @wadamean above.

Damn, I didn't know that! Had I known that I wouldn't of bothered with d/l a 3rd party app
Or you can set Greenify to turn off the display by swiping up from the bottom (instead of launching Google Search). That's what I do.
From a battery saving stand point, there is a view that you don't want to hibernate apps that you are frequently using in the day. Using the greenify lock and hibernate will reduce battery life compared to just locking the phone

Interesting. I hadn't really noticed a difference myself. Granted, I forget to lock it that way half the time, and end up just double tapping the status bar, lol.

none of these respect smartlock however.
i did find a method that does, but requires tasker and root. (unless anyone knows another way to accomplish this.)
create a task with action "code > run shell"
command: "input keyevent 26"
use root: yes
this simulates pressing the power button, respects smartlock, and can be set as shortcut through nova or anywhere else.

you can call system lock in tasker without a root, just declare it as device admin is ok, same action like you press power button and turn off the screen
Or just install Screen Off app from the Playstore, and press the button...

+1. Did this with Apex launcher too.
Nova Launcher has action Lock screen.
Hi, I really am disappointed that motorola didn't use all that space on the bottom of the phone as actual buttons. I know there is an app that turns the fingerprint scanner to be used as a home button, but is there one that will make double-tapping the sensor go into multi-task screen? That would be great because then I could disable the hideous soft keys and just use that! (I don't use the back key that often, it's a bit useless imo).
Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated.
This was the first result when searching the Play Store for "fingerprint gestures". It has what you want. The taps have to be kind of long for it to work. And in order for it to work properly you need to disable "Fingerprint sensor can lock phone" located in Settings - Security - Settings cog.

I just tested that app today but it makes the regular "home" on-screen button useless. Most of the time that button isn't working, the other 2 on-screen buttons do work properly though.
So.... It's really annoying me now.... How can we disable the shortcut on the power button that loads up the camera? I've never had so much of an issue with it but it seems since the Nougat update I launch the camera more than I lock my device!
Can't remember if I've enabled it somewhere or whether it's a default. Any help?
Open settings and search for camera. There you can disable the setting.
