am unable to move any of my 3rd party applications from phone memory to external sd. I have checked the application apk file and the install location is set as auto, still am not able to move. Is this known issue in S3?
Thanks

As Far i Know there are few options but App2SD will not work as S3 has different mappings to external SD , there is a app which creates SymLink which can be used to move large folder out of internal to external card
Search for it in the forums

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
App to SD is a 3rd party software, thats fine, but when we got to settings application manager and open any one of the installed applications, we will have an option to move apps to extrernal SD. even that is being disabled in S3.
If moving applications from internal memory works on other phones like sony,HTC and even in samsung S2, Galaxy note etc, why it is not the same in Samsung Galaxy S3.
Note : ICS 4.0.4 is installed in my Samsung Galaxy S3. I have checked few other mobiles like Samsung Galaxy note, Samsung Galaxy S2, Sony Xperia Ion etc which has ICS 4.0.4 installed. In all the mentioned phones am able to move installed applications from Internal memory to external SD.
All i wanted to know is moving applications from internal memory is a core andriod feature or not. (if am correct this was released in Android 2.2). If it is a core android feature then why samasung doesnt provide that feature in Samsung Galaxy S3 alone.
Expecting your reply.
Thanks
Balaji
Hey guys.
As you might know , we , kitkat 4.4.4 users can't install app in our sd card , so I'm here to ask if someone know a way to get the possibility.
I'm pretty new into phones and android , so it's a bit confusing for me. Do I have to install a custom ROM ? Do I have to wait for lolipop ?
Good night.
U will have to root ur device then install folder mount app to move all your data to SD card
Even though you have to inform yourself first very well, using Xposed and a module called XInternalSD works perfectly for apps that can occupy a lot of space on the Data folder, which can be just moved to the External SD Card.
I'm having some problems as I need to move some obb files from my SD to my internal memory. I've been told to use foldermount but after successful install it does not load and just says there was a problem. I tried to use gl to sd as an alternative but even though I have given it permission with supersu it says it cannot find my micro SD card. I have checked that my root is working with root checker, tried uninstalling and reinstalling, tried restarting my device but nothing I can think of helps.
I have a Acer E380, android version 4.2.2, kernal version 3.4.5.
Thanks in advance for any help!
I know Android M has a new way to connect external sd cards, you can convert the external memory into internal memory but this is not what I need. The alternative is that only some directories are write-enabled on the sdcard but this in turn is not enough.
Starting with Kitkat (also working on Lollipop) there was a hack allowing you to use an external sd as read/write storage.
This hack no longer seems to work with marshmallow, if you go searching for sdcard fix you'll find that this fix does not work on Marshmallow.
Are there already apps fixing this problem ( no problem if root access is required since my phone is rooted).
Android 6.0 isn't yet available for my Xperia Z3 Compact but when it becomes available I'd like to have a way to go around this problem.
If it doesn't yet exist do you know names of developers working an such a fix?
+1.
However, for me the problem is immediate: I have a rooted HTC One M8 with a 64GB external SD card that I've recently upgraded to Marshmallow. Like many of you, thanks to rooting I was able to work around Google's SD card handling changes introduced in 4.4 KitKat, and the same fix worked in 5.0.
But I'm having serious deja vu with 6.0, because it seems the behavior is back to being much like KitKat again: Apps can only write to their own private folder under /data on the SD card. But unlike KitKat, I've found no simple workaround like editing a system XML file.
Some apps like ES File Explorer have a special 'root mode' option that enables them to write to any folder of both internal and external storage. For other non-root apps, there is a convoluted workaround the first time the user tries to use the SD card where the user must authorize writing to any folder by selecting the root folder of the SD card from a folder tree. The permission seems to 'stick' after that, but I don't know if it survives a reboot?
So I'm also wondering if any bright devs are working on a more general root workaround like we had for KitKat, perhaps as an Xposed module? And in the meantime, does anyone know what's happening behind the scenes when an app uses the "choose the SD card root folder" solution? Where is that new permission being defined/stored?
Assuming the additional SD card write permission is indeed persistent (or could somehow be saved and restored after a reboot), could we manually add similar permission for other apps that don't include the solution? For example, the QuickPic gallery app does have it, so I can now move and rename images from any SD card folder. But the Dolphin browser doesn't, so when I try to download a file to the SD card, I can only choose the single Dolphin-owned folder. (This wasn't a problem in Lollipop - but Dolphin now gives me a helpful explanation blaming Google for the restrictions added in KitKat, even though I'm two major releases past KK...). Until/if Dolphin adds code similar to QuickPic, it would sure be great if I could manually add a similar permission. I've spent hours searching, but haven't discovered anything. So any ideas would be very welcome!
No response in months. Is this xposed module what you guys needed? Or have you found other workarounds?

I've exactly the same problem! Has anybody got a solution?
There is a fix have a look at https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/fix-extsd-fix-v1-0b-2016-01-18-t3296266
this fix works for marshmallow and nougat
So yesterday, I flashed a custom ROM which is MERE [Most Epic Rom Ever] in my O+8.92 Android phone
Info:
Android 4.2.2 JB
Kernel 3.4.5
MediaTek MT6582
There were no problems at all until I noticed that I cannot move any single app into SD Card [Sandisk 8GB] either Movable or Not Movable it only says "Couldn't move app" I tried apps like Link2SD and etc. But it says [ERROR-FAILED-INSTALL-CONTAINER] (iirc)
Although the Entire content of my SD Card are still present after I flashed MERE ROM every apps that I installed go directly to Phone Storage (before) and now its labeled as SDCard0 while my external SD is called SDCard1.
Also the files associated with each apps goes/read/or create to the PhoneStorage[SDCard0] even my SDCard[SDCard1] has the files already.
Info about the ROM
Build #: MFS140802
I really need help with this I've been searching for whole day and nothing worked upon the methods I came across with.
Thankyou in advance.
