I'm sure this is one of the most frequently asked questions on this forum but is there a way to use S-View on CyanogenMod? I recently purchased an S-View case with my phone and now that i've rooted it, I want to get off of the god awful TouchWiz. Thanks. :cyclops:
Its a stock feature. Cm does not have it.

Hello, i hope this Question is in the right category/place, if not, Feel Free To Throw Candies~ :3
So, i have a Samsung Galaxy Fit S5670 Don't Kill Me QAQ7 and from what i saw, It is really similar to the galaxy mini S5770, we even got a Cyanogen port for mini working on galaxy fit, only things that aren't working are the Camera amongst other minor stuff.
My Question is, How do one port roms? and if possible, how to fix the bugs in the rom we already have, note that the two phones are really similar and the port was tested by quite a few people.
Any push in the right direction would help, thank you so much in advance~<3
p.s. i searched everywhere for pertinent info, couldn't find any, was really hesitant to ask ouo
Hi,
Does anyone know if there's going to be any development happening for the Rugby Smart? I have read that currently it's not even rootable, which is a big deal for me.
I currently have the Captivate and am looking at getting a new phone at the end of the summer, and I really like the whole rugged thing the Smart has going for it, but being able to put custom ROM's on there is a bigger deal.
Samsung Rugby Smart is rootable. Read this - http://androidforums.com/rugby-smar...30-tutorial-how-root-samsung-rugby-smart.html
I already have done some mods on my phone and it's workig fine.
Hey there, just acquired a new Galaxy S3, and I'm swimming through the roms and cannot figure out which one is best or, I should say, which ones are the most worked on and updated. I'm open to all suggestions. THanks!
Do NOT post threads asking which the best ROM or kernel is
I have done a lot of searching on this and everything i have found suggests this is not possible but those posts are dated I just want to be sure nothing has changed recently.
I like the stock feel of the i717 with the samsung mms app and the samsung calendar app, touchwiz, etc. There are no official samsung updates after 4.1.2, but is it possible to get the samsung apps/framework working on cm11/cm10.2/AOSP somehow? It doesn't appear that anyone is too interested in doing this, maybe because the level of difficulty, but I would just like to know if it's possible. Maybe port a rom from a newer samsung phone? If its possible but not been done yet, i'm willing to do the work if someone will just point me in the right direction. Thanks.
P.S. This is a Q&A help section and I have done proper research before asking my question. No insults about my lack of knowledge please. I'm not asking anyone to do work for me, I just want advice. Thanks.
i think the problem is that you're one of the few people who like the samsung apps. a lot of people root their phones or install custom ROMs to have the ability to remove those apps.
good luck, though.

I'm always a minority lol. And I don't like all of them, just a few. Mainly the messaging app, samsung keyboard, and the gallery. And touchwiz with landscape mod is nice too. I just like the feel of a touchwiz rom but with samsung's 18 month support policy, the i717 is left hung out to dry...I wonder how hard it would be to just back-port a i747 rom? Thanks for the reply
Hello there, new user here! It's wonderful to see a flourishing community of android users here!
I just received my Z ultra gpe last week, upgraded to kitkat 4.4.4, and managed to root it a couple of days later with towelroot thanks to this forum.
Now I've been lurking around here and there, and have found a number of users mention things like protecting your phone's IMEI, backing up your TA partition, installing super su (which i did but not exactly sure about its purpose), installing dual boot, flashify, TWRP...
My question is, is it necessary to do these things in order to protect my phone and preserve that precious data in case I send my phone in for repairs? Could someone please enlighten me? I'd greatly appreciate the help! Thank you!

Back up the TA partition now, then you don't have to worry about it latter. Strictly only needed if you unlock the bootloader to flash a custom ROM.
Install supersu as this app controls what other apps have access to root premitions
Think about dual recovery - this will allow you to back up the ROM and or your user data with ease, and allow you to sideload apps and mods and flash a new custom ROM (if you want to).TWRP and CWM recovery are the two recoveries in the dual recovery.
Don't for get to buy a nice case for your z ultra if you really Want to protect it

Thank you guys for the replies! I just rooted my phone to play some emulators and run sixaxis. I don't really plan on flashing custom roms and stuff because I don't really want to go through the hassle and I don't really know how lol.
And on that note, what case would you recommend? I just ordered a nillkin matte plastic case from ebay because it seems to have a cutout for the dock charger ( i bought one but it's 3rd party brand). Been looking at the dual case shine but it doesnt have a cutout for the dock and I'm afraid that other cases and bumpers make the bezel "thick" which would prevent me from charging it onto the dock station. Lastly, I saw the devilcase which is quite pricey or is out of stock but it does look cool. (cant post links... sorry)
Has anyone tried this? Any recommendations? Thanks again guys!
for cases have a look in the Xperia Z Ultra Accessories section
