[Q] ARM to delvik revert back but storage still being consumed - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I decided to try the ARM which comes as an option in Kitkat
But it consumes almost 500 MB over the space already being used up in delvik.
My phone has only 2 GB of internal storage.
On reverting back to delvik, 100 MB is still unaccounted for.
Is it possible that it is being cached up somewhere in the phone memory that I can free up.
Did any of you face anything similar?
Any help is appreciated.

[Q] Avatarrom / JB 4.2: memory issues - not enough space

Several weeks ago I installed the Avatarrom with Jelly Bean 4.2 on my Galaxy S2 I9100. At first I was very pleased with everything. It was much faster, and in many ways better. Since then I've installed two updates. I'm constantly running out of memory. I cannot read my Gmail using the default gmail app anymore (your device doesn't have enough storage space to sync). Updating apps in the playstore doesn't work (Insufficient storage available). I removed many apps, cleared the general cache and that of many apps, moved numerous apps to the external SD, and that freed up enough memory to get the rest working, but not for long. With the second update, things seemed improved and I could open gmail again, but only for two days.
I've installed the app DiskUsage. This reports the following:
App storage (system ram I suppose)
Total 2015 MB
System data: 1645 MB
Applications: 309 MB
Free: 60 MB
Storage card
Total 11781 MB
Free 4900 MB
Storage SD card
total 14972 MB
6700 MB free
If I remember correctly the system data was "only" 1200MB when installing the avatarrom. Now it's 1645MB. How can that be? My phone has 2GB system memory, and if I'm correct there are not many phones with more than that. So if it grows 200MB with each update, something's wrong, isn't it? Or am I missing something? Should I clear some other cache or download folder? Does the free space on the storage card make a difference? Can I increase the system memory space, like resizing a partition?

Clear the cache files occasionally, every app generates cache data like Chrome Browser can generate more than 100mb of cache over a period of time.

Many apps store data on the system /data partition, the only chance to get more free space in the standard way is:
- remove unused apps
- move apps and/or data to sd (but not all apps will alow that)
This should give you some additional free memory, but yes, I agree, the /data partition is a bit small.
Hey, my friend has the same problem.
I installed him 3 different 4.1 JB roms, but the problem is same in all 3 roms.
We did factory reset and also wiped phone in recovery mode, but it didn't help.
We also tried this with sd card in phone and without sd card with phone, no difference at all.
What should my friend do to fix this?

[SOLVED][Q] Device memory eaten

The Device Memory section at the storage page in setting displays that:
Total space: 1.97 GB
Applications: 1.23 GB
Available: 49.52 MB
Where did the 700MB gone?
This happens when I upgrade the Android from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2. I've installed less apps in 4.1.2 than in 4.0.4 (I wiped my phone before upgrade).
I tried to wipe dalvik cache which give only 10~20MB. How to freed the eaten device memory?
Also, strange enough, I've move many apps moved to sdcard but it seems their data are still remain in device memory. I check one large apps' info:
Total: 165 MB
Application: 100 KB
USB storage app 51.81 MB
Data: 113 MB
SD Card 0.00B
Does this mean 113MB data still in device memory?
EDIT:
I finally found out what take up the near 700MB space.
I delete all files in /data/lost+found/ freed 666MB.
I use an apps called disk usage to locate this.
Jelly bean takes up a lot more storage space than ICS for a start. How many apps do you have installed? I have about 60 downloaded apps installed (not including the pre-installed apps) & I have 0.97GB free in that partition. Do you have a few hundred installed?

In my App To SD in ZDBox (an integrate toolbox apps with app2sd, taskkill, etc function), I have 43 Apps in phone (only 8 apps movable) and 41 Apps on SD Card, not counting android component. But in the "All" page in Application Management in Options, I got 200 Apps including android components.
I don't know which is more trustworthy but no matter how, many large apps have been moved to SD Card. Even from the "All" page in Application Management which includes many android component, I manually add up the space occupied. It is just 1.25 GB.
Where do the 700 MB gone and how can I get them back?
By the way, how many disappeared device memory do you have, Hopper8? I mean when you subtract the sum of all components including available space from total.
Weird. From what I manually added up all apps in phone and sd card, its just 1.25GB.
But there are 1.23 GB of Application in "Device memory" and 1.66 GB of Application in "USB Storage" in Application Management.
1.23+1.66=2.89 GB >>1.25 GB
I am driven crazy.

Hmm. Without seeing what you're adding up, its hard for me to visualize. It does sound like you're missing some space though.
How did you upgrade to JB? Did you flash via odin? Or accept a Kies/OTA notification? I'm thinking that a full wipe is in order. First step is factory reset.

I did a Wipe Data/Factory Reset and Wipe Cache and flash [Stock Official Firmwares] I9100XWLSW (4.1.2) - United Kingdom (XEU) [05-06-13] with ODIN.
It's difficult to make a list of my apps but as for my adding up, it includes all data except cache of all apps installed on no matter device storage or external SD card. I also checked the apps' cache size with a system cleaner. Only 30 MB of Cache in total.
Do you have device memory not inside any categories (not even in Miscellaneous or System)? Strangely I just have one categories, Application, except available under Device Memory (or Internal Storage in some version) section at Storage in Options.
Hmm. And you have used a few different system cleaners and such to have a look at what's on there?
As for my listings for the storage usage, I've got available, apps, and cached data for my internal storage. Nothing else.
I really don't know if I can be of any other help to you mate if there are any other posters who can help, please do.

PS: You didn't flash any pit files previously, no?
Either you've got "hidden" apps or a piece of your nand is not reachable/writable

I've got the same problem. Running Revolt/JB ROM. But had the same problem with the previous ROM (AOKP/JB).
Storage tab in settings reports: total space: 1.97GB , Apps (app data & media.. : 0.95 GB, Available: 242MB.
So yeah. Android's using some fuzzy math here, or something isn't being reported properly.
I did a full factory wipe, no luck fixing the issue.
95 apps, rough count just flipping through the screens in the app drawer.

THL W100 Where did my internal storage gone?

hi
i have an un rooted THL W100 since 2 months.
it works great except i has only about 50 mega left in the internal storage.
Now, it suppose. to have 4 GB ROM.
what i actually have according to android system, (and other apps) is 2 GB of ''phone storage'' (internal sd for data), and 0.9 GB of ''phone storage'' for the system.
(i also have an 16GB micro SD card, which is only 50% full, and that is also my ''default'' for data writing).
Now, out of my 0.9 GB, only 450 MB is used, but i have a ''low storage''massage ,and all the storage apps indicate that i have only 50 MB left.x
So where did the other 500 MB out of the 0.9, gone?
(and where is the missing 1Gb from the 4GB ROM, for that matter).?
i shifted all the shiftable Apps to the SD Card.
and i have only very small size apps in the ''phone only'' section.
i also cleaned all the cash and data, that i could.
i try to attach some screen shots.
also, the phone crashes some times, i think because it is almost full (it crashes very little when i try to un install some apps to free memory).
pls. help
W100 owner ?
hi
2 days without comment.

thanks a lot.

try cleaning cache and dalvik cache
and double check is there any file on internel use any explorer apps
thanks a lot friend sangalaxy
The cash is cleared many times.
I am a beginner so i read just now about dalvik chache.
If i understand Correctly, since my phone is unrooted, i can clean it only from recovery, which in my case is still not usable because its in chinese.
I will install CWM soon, and then...
About your last remark, about files being Used, i am sorry, i don't understand, but my low mem. Condition is since 2 weeks, so mabe that answere it ?
I will try to post 2 new pics of info.
I see in them that i do have almost 0.5 '' internal ''data'' folder , and almost 0.5 of ''system'' folder , full.
If the system, and data, are 2 different folders, then i do have my 0.9 of internal storage.
Is it so?
Then there is no ''missing'' storage space.
Just 2 full half gig spaces.
Is it so?
Then i just need yo find how to clear some
Thanks again.
My phone is 8G ROM, but can use only 3.2G, what procedures are occupied so much memory?
the 500mb is mysteriously missing
i have compared my pics to my other phone, and it seems like the black pic of my internal storage is telling the story.
if you add the green (apps), and the cache, and the grey (''available space''), you should get the total which is 0.9 gb.
and i am getting only about 500 mb.
i have now only about 70mb. left available , instead of 570mb.
So 500mb IS missing !
WHERE ??
End of the story factory rest
Hi
After I could not find a solution, I did a factory data rest, and that seem to solve my problem.
I reinstall all my apps and now I have 500mb. Space available, instead of only 50mb.
I don't know what was the problem, but its gone for now.
Thanks.

Hello my M4 aqua is missing some internal storage.

so i just reset my phone to the factory settings, and after unistalling and deactivating some stuff i noticed
that i should have like 1gb free, but i still have 500mb. What the hell?
Android System - 4,03GB
Apps - 1,09GB
Available - 571MB
i even cleaned cache, but i still don't see my 1gb anywhere, this is strange because when i bought the phone i could get 1GB internal storage
by doing the same. Is this a visual bug or something?
Here the same, but i have the same freespace with 8gb internalstorage. I guess its a bug.
Same here.
Had 7.5 / 8 GB used on internal storage. You'd think I could install 400 MB system update, but no, I had to free 0.5 GB more.
Same here...updated the phone just now. Had to clear cache for all apps and remove a lot.
I wish there was a root for locked bootloader so I could remove all this bloatware.
Edit: After the update I have 6,53GB free..? How did that happen?

Andriod 6.0 keeps consuming internal storage after app updates

I have a stock Android 6.0 tablet iBall Slide 4G. When I reset the device, it has 10 GB free out of 16 GB total. I have less than 10 apps on it other than stock Google apps. The problem is that as apps get updated, it keeps consuimg internal storage to such an extend that within a month it consumes total 10 GB free internal storage. Even if I clean cache etc. using clean master app, it does not clear more than 200-300 MB and internal storage is full. I have other Android 6.0 phones like CoolPad Note 5 etc. that have 16 GB internal storage but its memory usage does not exceed more than 1-2 GB even after updating all apps through out the year.
Because of my above problem in my tablet, I have to reset my tablet every month. Please suggest a solution.

Disable automatic Updates from play store.
And only install those updates which are necessary or critical to the apps.
To disable automatic updates
>Goto play store.
>Goto settings from sidebar.
>There will be a option of 'auto update apps', open this
option and select 'do not auto update apps'.
Hit thanks if helped.

I have reeder tab it makes log files. One of them is 35 mb and a month later it makes 100 of them. Your problem could be something like this. I think you should analyze storage. With this you can see which file takes how many storage. To do that I recommend es file exporer. Install es file explorer (recommend v4.0.2 from apkmirror.com) press navigate button choose sd card analyst. If this not work no big files go to settings apps check youtube, facebook, instagram cache some cleaner apps cant detect their cache. Clear them manualy.
Hope these work for you
