I was just on the MJ9 firmware had no problem flashing other roms using TWRP. I read that TWRP was having issues flashing ND7 and seen that using Philz was the best thing to use, so I downloaded Philz and saved it, uploaded it to my external SD card along with the other required files for ND7. Rebooted to the recovery formatted the internal storage, dalvik and cache. First thing I did was try to install Philz. I instantly got failed and this message "assert failed: getprop (ro.product.device") I thought it had something to do with the Kitkat update. But, then I read on the forum that one user was having trouble installing Philz also and the user installed the ND7 first then Philz and it installed. So, I decided to try that. The update installed just fine but Philz still gave me the same error. I decided to try to install the radio that gave me the same error. I already had Liquid smooth 4.4 downloaded on my SD card and that wouldn't flash either but the gapps installed. I have installed the newest version of TWRP still no luck. I can't even use Airdroid to transfer to either SD card or internal storage (Later found out its an app problem). What else can I do to get the ball rolling?

Seems like you still have the wrong TWRP for your device.
Here is a Philz Zip with the getprop asserts removed, so it should flash just fine in your current TWRP.

That installed and worked. The ND7 Radio also installed. How do I fix the getprop asserts?

It is already fixed now that you have a proper i605 recovery installed.

I downloaded the Beanstalk KitKat ROM today and planned to install it to replace Jellybean. I copied the ROM zip and gapps to the internal storage, unplugged the phone and rebooted into recovery. I wiped the cache and data, but when I went to install the ROM zip it wouldn't work; it returns an error of "set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed" with a status of 7. Before I rebooted into Android to re-copy the files over, assuming something went wrong in the copy process, CWM prompted me saying that I might have lost root and whether or not it should fix it. I hit yes. Now, I cannot reboot back into Android. The phone hits the HTC loading screen, reboots, and then ends up back at CWM.
Is there any way I can get a ROM zip on my phone so that I can fix this? Or is my phone essentially bricked?
Any help is appreciated.
If you have adb drivers installed on your computer, you can do this: adb push path/to/ROM.zip /sdcard/ROM.zip make sure you mount data first. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37535001
Are you using the newest version of tour recovery? You need the latest cwm or twrp beta to flash kitkat ROMs.

I'm running CWM 6.0.3.1. I assume this is outdated now as I installed it a while ago. I'll find a download for the latest one and install that too.
Thanks for your help.

hi, hope someone can help. i'm sort of a newbie, so i might not even understand any help you give.:crying:
i have a optimus g e970. i installed the freeg app,
i've been trying to flash a custom rom, and have been unsuccessful. two things have happened.
1. with the freeg app, i click on the twrp block, and it says 2.6.3.3 successfully installed. so i reboot into recovery, and it says ver. 2.6.3.0 is the one i have. not sure if this matters, but figured i'd lay that out there.:crying:
and so i reboot into recovery, but when i try to install, the zip files i've put on the internal sd card are not recognized....it's like they aren't even there.
so, i try plan b.
2. i go back into freeg, and install cwm recovery, and reboot into recovery. now, the zip files ARE recognized, but every flash is aborted. unfortunately i didn't catch the exact wording of the warning it gave me, but i'm thinking maybe i had a rom not for the e970, but i'm not sure.
before i brick this thing, are there any suggestions? the rom on the device is Android version 4.1.2. i'm not big into flashing roms, but i have done so in the past if i have line by line instructions that i can follow.
Depending on what rom you are flashing You may need a more updated recovery.
Edit: nevermind you have 2.6.3.0, that is the newest version. However there is a kitkat 2.6.3.0 if ur flashing kitkat roms , use a recovery that support it

ok, i read that thread, didn't take me a whole lotta time. hahah. but next question.
the kit kat twrp....do i need that recovery if i am already on a kk, which i am not, or if i am going to flash a kk rom?
ok, this is where i'm at:
i have the kk twrp zip. i put everything on internal sd card. no recognition of zips.
i put everything on external sd card. no recognition of zips.
where i go from here, i'm all ears.

If you were already on kitkat you wouldn't need a kitkat recovery to run the phone .. If you're going to flash a kk rom you will need a kk recovery. The question is confusing ... So my answer may be confusing as well..

I don't know what internal SD card mean , the SD card or internal memory.. However regardless of the version of your recovery you should still be able to see the zips. If you are able to you may just put the kk recovery zip on your SD card, flash it , reboot recovery and see what happens. Also I think in twrp you are able to pick either to use internal memory or SD card too ( its in the options I think )
hey, thanks for your help. i know my questions can be confusing. such is being a newbie on this stuff, i don't know the precise phraseology sometimes.
nonetheless, i played around with that link you provided, and i think i might be good to go. i'll lay out what i did to help anyone who is in my positions.
i downloaded the zip for the twrp for kit kat. i was on 4.1.2, trying to flash a kk rom.
i put the zip on my internal storage, and rebooted into my already existing twrp recovery. zip not recognized. so i rebooted into cwm recovery, and the zip now was detected. i flashed the twrp for kk recovery.
rebooted into my new recovery. i wiped, and then clicked "install'. now, the recovery did in fact detect the rom and gapps zips. flashed, and rebooted system.
so i think i am good to go. not sure why twrp was not recognizing zips and cwm was. again, thanks. knowing there was a special twrp for kk got me going on the right track.

Yeah it happened to me once, I just downloaded an app called "Flashify" and used it to flash the KK TWRP.
Afterwards, reboot into the recovery and it will recognize .zip files.
Hello,
I want to mess around with WinSuk's great work (and the androidarmv6 team), but I'm a bit lost with recoveries.
I can't check right now, but I think the phone currently has 4EXT, or maybe an old CWM.
I've always used CWM, but I've been trying TWRP on my Moto G for a while and I like it better I think.
Will this TWRP 2.2.2.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886046 work?
Do I absolutely need this CWM 6.0.2.8 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474662?
Or is this one http://download.androidarmv6.org/_builds/liberty/recovery-liberty.img more up to date?
Thanks!
Edit:
I have tried all of them, and I cannot seem to install cm-11-20140726-NIGHTLY-liberty.zip
E:Error in /sdcard/cm-11-20140726-NIGHTLY-liberty.zip
(Status 0)
I have wiped and formatted everything before trying, I have also tried with cm-11-20140725-NIGHTLY-liberty.zip, I checked the md5sum both on my disk and on the phone, everything is ok.
It did work once, I think it was with the recovery linked in the thread, but then flashing gapps gave the same error.

I tried again with everything, and I was able to install the ROM with the recovery from androidarmv6.
But now it gives me the same error for the gapps, complaining about /misc missing in the logs.
Well I finaly did it!
Installed cm-11-20140726-NIGHTLY-liberty.zip with recovery-liberty.img from androidarmv6 and gapps-4.4-tocache-20140605.zip with cwm-6.0.2.8-UNOFFICIAL-liberty.zip.
It's still booting, and I haven't tested TWRP but the thread is more than one year old so I probably won't.
I was only able to flash the CM11 Nightlies using the recovery-liberty.img from androidarmv6.org builds, but as of 9/6/2014 it seems to no longer be there.
I also found that flashing CM11 Nightlies required that version of recovery, but in order to flash gapps, I needed to use 6.0.2.8 from WinSuk, otherwise I would get an error.
Hello,
My beloved Sprint Note 3 died on me today. After rebooting, it kept repeating an error message (should of written it down).
I used Odin3 v1.85 to install TWRP v2.8.7.0. That all seemed to work fine.
Using TWRP, I did an advanced wipe and cleared "Dalvik Cache", system, Data, and Internal Storage"
Then I attempted to install Freeza's "Galaxy-Note-frez-3-2.26.zip"
I get the error message:
"E:Error execting updater binary in zip '/external_sd/Galaxy-Note-fre3-2.26 zip'
and
Error flashing zip '/external_sd/Galaxy-Note-fre3-2.26 zip'
Any ideas what I should try?
Thanks!

I used to have this issue with Freeza's ROM as well, not sure why.... but just try a different ROM before you declare a time of death.
Thanks poncholo36. I installed a stock OS using Odin and that worked fine. What ROM are you using?

You could try mine, just click the 4.4.4 N K4 in my signature. Or try chaz187 Classic 4.4.4 NH7. . . However this would depend on what stock OS you installed. If It was Lollipop 5.1.1 you will have to flash back to stock 4.4.4 NK4 first, or you my end up with a bootloop. There is not a lot of custom roms based on Lollipop 5.1 as yet.

Hi, I am trying to install cynogenmod or mokee rom and the device always gets stuck at cyno/mokee logo. it never goes beyond that. tried to wait for half an hour(waited for one hour twice).
Here is what I am doing:
I used TWRP but it wasnt working so i installed CWM, in both the recoveries I was wiping everything except sd card storage as my zip files were in the card. after that i flashed zip files(ROM & GAPPS). after that i rebooted to system. Am I doing it wrong? I am currently on 4.4.4 stock rom. Need help.
Thank you.
No one to help?
How can TWRP not work on your device? Install again TWRP via adb.

The problem wasn't with the recovery and I wasn't doing anything wrong. It was really too bad to know that the rom version I was installing had a bootloop bug in it. So I had tried two previous versions but they too had the same bug. And unfortunately I tried CONTINUOUSLY for two long days to install those same bugged ROMS as if God has put me in frustration mode. Tech fooled me right, lol.
Grab the November 8 version of Cyanogemod. There are issues with the newer updates.
