[Q][KERNEL REQUEST] i9300 with ath9k drivers - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
After hours of pointless Google-ing, I have come here to make a request.
I own a SGS3, a TP Link TL-WN722N and an OTG cable. I would like to be able to use aircrack-ng from my Galaxy S3.
After some Google-ing, I've learned that you need a custom kernel with the drivers for your WiFi adapter. The only problem is that there is no kernel for the Galaxy S3 with the drivers for my TP-LINK (which would be ath9k). I have no idea on how to recompile Android kernels, so I'm making a polite request here for any dev's out there:
Would you be so kind to create a kernel for the Samsung Galaxy S3 with drivers for the TP-LINK TL-WN722N? Preferrably compatible with CyanogenMod 10/11.
It's a very popular phone, with a very popular WiFi antenna, on a very popular ROM. I'm surprised this combination doesn't exist yet.
Thank you!

[Q] USB OTG Camera ROM

Hi everyone,
Firstly thank you to all the devs out there: You have all made a great contribution of time and knowledge and it's appreciated.
I have previously been around these forums and I have learnt a great deal, but I'm currently trying to push the boundaries of my android knowledge.
I would like to use a USB inspection camera on my S3 i9305T (Telstra/Australian version). It would appear that I have done everything I can to get it to work without trying a new kernel or ROM.
I have had a discussion with Droidperception here: droidperception [dot] wordpress [dot] com/2012/11/27/webcam-attached-to-nexus-7/comment-page-1/#comment-140
(Sorry can't post a url properly whislt under 10 posts)
He has stated I need a different ROM as Samsung or Telstra have removed this functionality. I was looking into the rXTREME.v9.0 JB4.1.2 ROM but I'm starting to wonder that it may not work as it's based off of the Samsung ROM (I read that somewhere).
Do I need to find a Vanilla JB ROM for the S3? They should have the UVC/V4l drivers as UVC cameras appear to work with Nexus devices.
Thank you,
Ritzo90
Sorry, please move to Q&A if possible.
report it and ask
Update:
So I ended up installing SuperNexus, but it still has not helped. The camera is recognised but the UVC driver does not appear to be the ROM. I will try a couple of other ROMs tonight and see if I can find one. If worst comes to to worst I'll get a Nexus 4, though I really hoped that it wouldn't come to that because I like my LTE.
If anyone has found a guide on adding UVC drivers or V4L driver please let me know, I can't find anything as of yet.
Thanks,
Ritzo90

[Q] AOSP Kernel with USB Wifi Drivers

Hello all. Im trying to find some assistance from a developer. I have been attempting to compile a kernel for my SCH-i605 that has the usb wifi drivers for Ralink RT5370 chipset. I have been beating my head against the wall attempting this. This is my first attempt at building a kernel and quite frankly i'm overwhelmed at this point... I was wondering if a developer would be able to assist me in trying to build this kernel or point me to a guide that would be able to show me how to do this? I dont need anything fancy just a AOSP kernel with these drivers added to it... I am currently using 4.2.2 PacMan Rom (which I love).

Looking for xpad.ko for stock SGS2 with 4.1.2

I have a couple of generic Android tablets, one based on the Allwinner A10 chipset and the other based on Rockchip RK3066. With both tablets I was able to get hold of a build of xpad.ko, the Xbox controller driver for wired and wireless Xbox controllers, and with a little jiggery-pokery they both work pretty well with supported apps.
However for my SGS2 I have searched high and low for a build of xpad.ko that will work with the stock 4.1.2 rom I have on the phone and I can't find anything.
Does anyone know of a standalone download of xpad.ko I could use, or a kernel I could flash with it baked in? I really don't want to flash a whole new ROM though, I'm pretty happy on stock.
Kind regards
Dave
FWIW my USB OTG support seems to be working fine, I tried with a USB keyboard and mouse and a pendrive and all seems to be well.

How to configure and build the kernel for samsung galaxy s iii

hello all
i like to develop since 9 years old. Actually i am 24. I don't understand well the basics of Android and propietary devices. I used to install CM on all my family's devices, but always unofficial builds and not selfKANGs. Since 1 week ago, I am trying to build the the CM's 11.0 with no luck. Then i went to official google's developers site of android, and finally i got a system compiled and ready to install.
but now, before to push the flashing key, i am doubting about all... i mean, there'r a lot of steps I havent done:
1. obtain propietary binaries from my actual installation
2. not sure about if built the correct official version or compatible for samsung galaxy s iii (gt-9300)
3. i just wanted to add support for a S3C USB Host HUB for connecting my keyboard and mouse into my S3's micro-usb port.
so, now that i have obtained a lot of curiosity about that world, i want to learn more and more... but haven't anything clear at all.
then, can you please answer me the following questions?
1. why everyone is installing CM in S3? And not official android version?
2. how can I configure and add support to my USB host hub into the correct version of the kernel for the actual 4.4 KitKat software (CM-11.0) of my S3's?
3. can you explain me why can't I compile CM-11 or CM-10.2 with my Ubuntu Server 14.04 ? Lot of errors...
I would have more time to ask and ask, but I need to stop here.
Thanks to all for all the information in the posts I have read until now. And for the future's ones.
See ya,
Abel.

[Q] WiFi dongle on Android 5

Hey everyone,
So I'm running Android 5.0.2 on my GT-I9300 and I'm really anxious to get my WiFi dongle working. The reason behind it is that Reaver & similar tools don't work with the device's native WiFi.. adapter? Chip? That.
So I have a TP-Link TL-WN321G dongle that does what I need it to do, but my device doesn't acknowledge the dongle once connected via USB OTG cable. I understand I'm supposed to provide Android with a driver, but I'm unsure how would I go on about doing that. The best I got from around XDA was 'compile a driver to a module and load it into the kernel' but I haven't the slightest idea how to do something like this. Any newbie-friendly guide would be highly appreciated.
Also, if anyone knows of any monitor-mode WiFi dongles naively compatible with Android 5, please let me know.

USB dongle found here: TP-Link site
Thank you!

Hey Joseph,
I haven't, but I'm not sure how would that specific ROM work with other kernels. Also, I imagine it's better to know how to add driver to kernel so I can do it on pretty much any device running anything? But sure, if you have an idea which kernel to try, I'll go for it =)
Thanks!

You can for example try Boeffla Kernel CM12 NG.
To look for compatible kernels, you can:
• Search for a kernel index like this one
• Make a search for the word kernel in your ROM discussion and Q&A threads and see what kernels people are using.
• Look for kernel threads in the Development and Original Development threads
Hope it helps you in your search.

Thank you, I tried Boeffla Kernel and it didn't recognize the device still, but I'm searching for a kernel with the driver necessary. Still would be nice to know how to do it by myself, but I'm on it ^^
Hey i noticed your post is old but did you find a way to do that any supporting roms or solution i'm having the same problem
