I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Model P3113. I rooted it yesterday. I did install the ClockworkMod Recovery but, Did not install the firmware yet. I am very interested in keeping my stock firmware on the internal and running cm-10-20121106-NIGHTLY-p3113 on the sd or external. I found this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1866675 but, I do not know where to begin other than make the new partitions on the sd card. I'm sorry I'm very new. This is the first device that I've played around with. Thank you in advance for any and all help.
I explored CWMR and found that I can mount my sd card and when I do it shows the partitions I made. Would I be able to flash a custom rom to the external while I was mounted to it?

I cannot figure out how to edit my rom for dual boot. I'm using Baked Black Bean 6 and want that on the external so I can have the stock rom on the internal. The partitions are made on the sd card. I was able to run convert.sh through cygwin on Windows 7 and everything said it failed but was complete. After it was finished i flashed it in recovery and when i rebooted I think it flashed the internal because it stayed on the boot animation. The convert process did fail. Any help?? Thanks.

Hi Guys,
I recently got a ATT S2 and the first thing I tried to do is root it. I followed this guide.
wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II_%28AT%26T%29:_Full_Update_Guide
I successfully installed CWM, but I cannot flash a rom using my SD card. Whenever I click install from internal sd card, I get a mounting issue.
(e: Can't mount /emmc/)
I am using the INTERNAL Sd card mounting.
Also, I cannot connect to ODIN or SuperOneClick. FOr some reason I can only use Heimdall.exe to install the CWM.
I am totally out of energy guys. I am ready to give up and stick to stock.
BTW. my phone is not bricked, I can turn it on fine.
The sd card is also not broken; I have two of them that I tried, both the same issue.
You flash probably the cm kernel. If your phone works do a master reset or factory reset from settings menu that should bring you back to stock. If not maybe this will help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301682 is a bit old but should get you the proper kernel instale

I already know that I flashed the CWM. I want to know why I can't recognize my SD card so i can change a rom.
Choose Install from SD. Not from internal sd.
The mount points are off. Samsung mounts the external inside of /sdcard instead of at the root of the filesystem. The how-tos here were infinitely more helpful to me than cyanogen's, but that was months ago.

Error processing ROM Manager script. Please verify that you are performing the backup, restore, or ROM installation from ROM Manager v4.4.0.0 or higher.
I can pm my full recovery.log but I can't post as I'm being blocked as a new user.. Something about external links??
Guys Any help will be very much appreciated..

Same here with my SGS3 32GB with all cm9 nightlies with ROM Manager. Manual recovery and backup works without problems from recovery console.
With CWM 5.5.0 4 / CF1.5 / CWM3.6 i just getting a error that sd marker was not found but is backups everythong without problems. I use CWM5.5.0.4 as workaround for the moment instead of rom manager.
Tried the following to solve problem:
Reformated microSD 32GB (Patriot)
Flashed recovery several times (rom manager & CWM)
Bought new Samsung 32GB microSD
All above without sucess....
No idea what is the cause for that.
Any ideas?

Solved..
I re flashed root. Seemed as if I wasn't rooted properly!?...
I rooted with my Mac initially but re did it via Odin3. I used a different version of cf root. Just repeated the root process and was able to make a backup.
Still got an error stating ext sd couldn't be found but have read in forum that it's not a big deal!??
Sorry I can't shed anymore light on the issue. Good luck

Thanks for this small thread. I unrooted my phone with Odin and then rooted it again with Odin. Got the idea from here and now CWM backup works perfectly again
Hey everyone, I'm still getting accustomed to the intricacies of flashing custom ROMs on my S3. On my only other Android device, my Acer Iconia Tab A500, flashing ROMs and creating/restoring backups from the Ext. SD is standard practice. However, I have seen many ROM install instructions specify using the Internal Storage to flash ROMs.
TL;DR: Is it safe to flash ROMs stored on the external SD card? Also, is creating and restoring CWM backups from the Ext. SD a recommended process? My latest backup is 3 GB and I'd really prefer to keep it on my Ext. card rather than internal storage.
Thanks for any help guys

Don't know the exact version of mine, but it's CWM Touch 6.x (for some form of parity with my tablet).
Don't know if it matters, but I'd like to be sure it's safe first.
Thanks for taking your time to reply

Cwm touch 6.0.1.2 support ext sd card. So it should be fine for you to use ext sd card for backup and flashing.

Since my SGS III, I never flashed from internal, Everything is working great, so I don't think that flashing from either storage device is harmful. Just be sure not to remove your External SD card whilst flashing. But that speaks for itself, isn't it?

I have been having a weird problem installing roms to my rooted galaxy s3 I9300
i have the phone rooted, i have it backed up with nandroid, and i have clockwork mod recovery on the phone.
when i boot it into recovery mode the phone doesnt see the roms i have on the SD card. from all videos of "how to install" they were left in the zip folder therefore i decided to leave them there.
any ideas anybody?
Are you selecting sdcard then ext sdcard?
