Hi,
I want to unlock an root my xperia U. So I can start delete some apps which I do not use. I thought using this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/themes-apps/tool-multi-xperia-tool-alexdroid00-v1-9-t2212734
The main reason is that i want to have more RAM, so it goes faster. When I for example push the phone widget it takes 4-5 seconds to see the keyboard (sometime longer) and the camera can take up to 10 seconds.
Which is for me just to long.
I have been reading a lot today, but still find it scary to just remove everything I saw in the thread of Divaksh with his tool speedy droid http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/u-development/tooljb-ics-cm-speedy-droid-v5-1-rom-t2135702
As for example I use the email that come standard and also the album.
But I would like to remove stuff like Chrome, Talk, faceboo.
So can anybody share his experience of what he has deleted so the phone goes faster. Because the lists I see don't always explain what they are.
Also, should iI first make a backup with an app called titanium backup? Because I assume it is to backup all the app in vase I want them back, rigjt?
Any help is welcome.
Thx

You don't have to uninstall any app, but you can do it by downloading a root uninstaller app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rootuninstaller.free&hl=es
Also you can stop some startup apps using All-In-One Toolbox https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=imoblife.toolbox.full&hl=es
Xperia U stock rom has got bloatware and you should replace some apps like the album if u want better performance.
Hope it helped to you!

Thank you jose and Fydo.
I have been starting to delete the apk. Well not deleting. i found another app, which is full free. And let you remove the apk and leaves it in a recucling bin. And them after a while you can delete it if you want so.
The list of Sony is huuuuuuge!!!
But as you said Fydo, it should be the same on my xperia U.
So I guess I will be starting delete all this stuff

Hi everyone,
I'm not sure how I "succeeded" in doing this, but it seems all the pictures from Timescape's Facebook stream are gone. There used to be the profile pictures on each little tile under the Timescape Facebook stream, but they are all the default blue background with white coloured heads now. I also noticed that if I go into the each individual contacts' details in my phone book, the Timescape - Facebook area shows no profile picture, but the Facebook app's area shows the profile picture.
I tried removing my Facebook account from Timescape and redoing my Facebook account in Timescape, but no joy.
Anyone experience this and know a fix? Thanks!

please specify which rom u r using and what apps have u removed...
timescape facebook contacts image is mostly due to SnsContactImageCacheProvider.apk if u have removed this app, reinstall in and move it into the system/app folder and it'll work...
Thanks for the tip. I'm using stock rom 2.1 with certain stock apps removed. I might have removed the apk you mentioned. I'll check and report back.
Pally777
I just checked. I didn't remove that apk.
it will be easier if u can tell me which other files u have removed...

I remember I encountered this issue a few times. All I did was to refresh a few times and reboot the phone and they all came back. I think it could be a bug in the firmware. This happens not only to the FB but also to the Twitter.
Hope this helps.
I relfashed with the stock 2.1 firmware using flash tool twice and the same issue still persists.

i'm currently using slade87's CM 7 MiniCM-v15.0 ROM, and it's the 2nd ROM i've tried (the first one being FroyoComb/CyaNoComb by D4rKn3sSyS).
in these ROMs i've come across a lot of apps that were pre-installed, but i didn't need them - so i decided to remove them. then i got the idea to build a list of removable apps for every ROM. here are the list's for these three ROMs. all ROMs have been tested to work without these apps.

disclaimer for X10 Mini!: do not uninstall "android keyboard", "latin input method" and "user dictionnary", you will not be able to write any word on the screen (e.g. text messages)
whatever you do, do it on your own risk! make backups!
these are only the apps i tried to remove. the list is far from complete, so if you've found any other apps being removable, please post below and i'll add them to the list. thanks!
edit: when posting other removable apps, note which ROM are you referring to, and for which phone.
added some more apps to the list for cm7 minicm, i believe the list is now complete for v15.0
You deleted kinda everything

and freed up surprisingly little space...
but minicm7 loads quite faster now, it's very smooth and benchmarks are higher, and absolutely no problems with the "missing" apps
Have you removed the DSP Manager anda are still able to use your headphones? Because everyone I do so, headphone support stops. Also, you can go to system/media and delete the ringtones for a couple extra MB
Sent from my x10 mini pro using XDA Premium App with Swype!
headphones work fine on minicm7 without dspmanager, just checked it. idk about froyocomb, never tried it because i don't use my phone as a player.
thanks for the tip

Sent from my U20i using XDA Premium App
thanks!
i suppose maps, places, navigation and latitude are all removed by removing maps? because there are'nt options to remove latitude, places and navigation, at least not in titanium?
yes with delete maps and praces i don't have navigation and latitude.
i remove it with systemapp remover (it's free and need root)

Don't uninstall these 2 you will get constant force close of latin input method
only reason I say keep user dictionary is because restoring latin input method didnt stop the force close problem but it stopped after i restored user dictionary
Tried and Tested on CyaNoComb 1.3
EDIT: Just realised this is in mini forum, im using the pro so maybe it works on mini. Delete?

it is in mini general forum.
idk what is the latin input method, i guess i don't use it because i don't get any fcs. i also don't use user dictionary, as i only use hardware or multitap keyboard.
i said i only remove those apps that i don't use and didn't get fcs on. they're safe to remove if you know that you don't need them.
this was tested on all 3 listed roms.

Ok, I was just saying I froze those using TB and got fc on input boxes using soft keyboard (android keyboard) as well as constant periodic fc messages. I don't use latin input (don't even know what it is) and i never use user dictionary, just that restoring both stopped fc. If it works for you great (which keyboard do you use btw?), but if you have problems like i did try restoring both to stop fc.
Wasn't trying to say you're wrong just helping trouble shooting.
Thanks for the confirmed list though i removed other stuff i hadn't tried before (like accessibility) and everything's fine, so thanks for the list.

as i said, i use my hardware keyboard, and default multitap keyboard when i'm too lazy to slide it out. i guess those 2 apps are somehow connected to using android keyboard, because i removed that too.
