I don't have enough posts to query the development forums, but can anyone confirm whether or not they've gotten bluetooth smart/4.0 BLE working with any of the available 4.3 based roms?
I've been holding out on buying a Bluetooth HRM for a long time, now (actually bought this phone BECAUSE it advertised bluetooth 4.0 as a feature....), and may be willing to lose touchwiz to use one, early.
Yes, I'm aware legacy bluetooth HRM's are available, but I know myself well enough to know I won't remember to charge it every day or two.
Thank you very much, in advance.

I really want to know the answer to this also.
I got an email from Runtastic July 31 claiming the following:
"
Runtastic Bluetooth Smart Combo Heart Rate Monitor
NEW - Compatible with all new Smaprtphones with Android 4.3. and
Samsung Galaxy S3 mini, S4, Note 2.
+ Compatible with iPhone 4S & 5
+ Low battery consumption
+ For outdoor and indoor fitness
activities (e.g. treadmill, ...)
+ Heart rate data transmission
+ Bluetooth Smart technology
+ Washable soft chest strap
[Buy Now]
"
I said, "Wait.... What!?" It seems like I've been waiting for this for years at this point. I wanted an H7, not an old zephyr hxm, but it hasn't been compatible. Now suddenly they claim the runtastic model works on the Note 2? There's no official 4.3, is there?? I searched these forums, best I could find was CM 10.2 derived ROMS, but they all say it includes CM's bug list--but I couldn't find that anywhere either. All I can figure is this was a misprint.
I'm with you, I care about this also, but I don't think enough people do.

I finally sucked it up and bought the legacy zephyr HRM.
It cost $15 more than the BT-LE version, and the battery life is crap, but I'm happy and endomondo seems a LOT more accurate, now.
This phone is dumb. Google needs to get their crap together, or put a leash on their representative manufacturers advertising unusable phone features.

It works great on any of the TW based ROMs, but as far as the 4.3 based ones, it is getting closer. Tried a few of the nightlies since a couple of weeks ago and my Fitbit finally shows up in CM10.2, but still won't pair. This is one of the few things keeping me from running CM10.2 full-time.
I keep flashing a nightly every few days just to check progress, but end up going back to my nandroid TW backup.
Does this work with CM 10.2 and/or CM11 nowadays? I'm thinking of buying a Fitbit and was wondering if it will sync with the phone.

I can confirm that the Zephyr HxM Smart does in fact work on 4.3 TW ROMs. Specifically RunDouble and Runtastic on Sophisticated ROM 2.5.
Hello,
I dont know if my topic fits here in the category (General)
But i have a fuw questions about my new smartphone (Xiaomi Mi3 WCDMA version)
Because i have always used a Google phone (android) MIU5 is a hole diffrent OS.
So my question is there a possible way to install Google Play, and that is very stable on it?
Because i know xda-board is a very advanced board if it is something about phones, so if somebody can help me out here.???

My Xiaomi Mi-3 Review.
New phone:
Since Xiaomi had released the Mi-3, there was an outbreak.
With the specifications and the low price Xiaomi had set an smartphone that is not only in China so populair but abroad the country to.
And you can see it with sales they made everytime the new stock was out.
In serval minutes there was a bunch of them sold out. The biggest one was more than 100.000 units in less than 90 seconds. You can see how populair the phone was. Because the new version with the latest highly clocked Snapdragon800 in it. Xiaomi set up an new variaty of people to there market.
Xiaomi is still out of stock in the most versions, and will be for a fuw moths.
Design:
The design of the Xiaomi Mi-3 is one of the most beuutifull phones ever made. The roundings the buttons the ultra-thin magnesium alluminum alloy gives the phone a very nice look. The roughness of the phone with his big 5 inch screens feels so nice in your hands. You dont have trouble with using one hand (only if you have big hands)
Hardware:
Xiaomi haves two versions of the Mi-3. The tegra4 TD-SCDMA only can be used in China, and the Snapdragon WCDMA an European/American/others parts of the world. Both CPU’s are diffrent clocked. the Tegra4 is clocked to max with 1.8Ghz, and the Snapdragon800 is clocked 2.3Ghz. The driffrence in the speed of the phone is actualy the same. Both versions are smooth tasking. There is no lag or something bothering you. With his 2GB on both version you are for now a happy guy. You can play the latest games on your phone as you want. With the new amazing LG Full-HD resolution IPS screen it makes the so beuatifull. The colors of the phone pop out. The angles on the screen are nice, somebody next to you will not having trouble to not see the screen.
Software:
Mi-3 is running on two diffrent android version. The tegra4 runs at an 4.2.3 android. And Snapdragon800 runs on an 4.3 newer version of the android. When you recieve your phone you can choose if you want to use it in chinese or English. If you choose english you still will see some chinese signs at the screen. This is one thing that the developers dont have chainged. But i cant hurt. You will not recieve Google App store on it, you must download it by your self. Xiaomi is very smart if you wanna use Google services, you must have an Xiaomi account, and trough the account you can download google installer. And from there you can use any google app you want.
Yes, it is possible!

I don't know if this is the right category for you question, but I'm not a moderator so I don't need to know that actually.
What I know on the other hand is that you can easily install Google Apps (GApps) on your Xiaomi Mi3. You won't need any experience with flashing gapps from internal storage or SD-card, it is easy as pie!
Once you have your phone open the MIUI Store and search for "Google". The developer Eric Xiang has put together an excellent Google Installer app. The name is in Chinese, but just search for it in English and you will find it. The installer will take care of everything else.
If that doesn't work, you should try rooting your device and flashing Gapps manually.
thank you in advance.
The GAPP store is in english right? Not chinese.
Hope i will can fix it. Uhm are there customroms made for the XIAOMI or not? So i can try that to if it doesent work for me...

and yet another one by a friend of mine:
I have the phone for about 3/4 days right now.
And the MIUIV5 launcher, if you using it for the first time. Its a little bit strange.
But after using it for a while, you learn fast and see how powerfull the launcher is.
The 1ste you always do is install gapps on your phone.
I Had to make some questions an supported boards, to get it work. But now i am pleased with the usage of the phone and the powerfull hardware whats in it.
Love the phone for now, will definitly stay at the MIUI community.
One thing: i hope they can fix an Android Stock 4.4 Kitkat OS with multi-lang....
I dont know why Cynogenmod doesent come for Xiaomi Mi-3, or other custom roms for it.
XDA-developers are the moest anticipated people for smartphones, i hope they will be release an Xiaomi mi-3 miuiV5 or later v6 CUSTOM ROM OR SOMETHING.
i tough there will be alot of them because it is Androind but nothing
A nice review. I have a great apetytna this smartphone. Are you able to compare its screen with LG G2 or HTC One? I wonder if it is comparable to, or better or worse.

The phone by it selfs is great, but there are some issues that i must solve before you can use the phone.
My issues are:
1. 3G not working well <- not solved
2. Ram is filling quikly <- not solved
3. Google account had some problems (was my fault because did not install google contacts.apk) <- solved
If these things are solved, than you have an bad-ass phone..

I'm using the latest MIUI version: 4.1.24 in Polish and I have no problems from the department in both the 3 and 2G. Everything in my MI 3 WCDMA works perfectly.
I have the CDMA version with miuiV5. It works great. No problems encountered. I just wish I knew how to make a custom ROM. I have a developer rom and the V5 rom. Tried both and they both work fantastic.
Maybe you know how to turn off the meter data. After exceeding the set limit further changes cause complications itelefon off my data transmission. I do not need to set this limit, I enclosed it with curiosity, and I have no problem.

It is not. Perhaps it's successor - the rumoured MI3S - might have this feature.
Btw. I have a 64GB Mi3 and so far I am very happy with this phone; even without LTE-support.
I am very happy with my phone. It is a 64GB Grey Mi3. The 3G on AT&T is fine but slow.
The Data speeds are not that fast but it gets the job done. I get some time out errors from time to time.
I like to be able to get the Temp that displays on the lock screen and home screen(default) to display current location instead of in China. Can't seem to get the default Maps app to work in the US even with it locking in on GPS it displays China. Google Maps works fine but a little show and sometimes has defaulted back to a Chinese location first until a signal lock happens and then it will find my current location.
Starbucks app doesn't work on my phone.
When I click on an autocorrected word that has a red underline on it the app will crash and send me back to home. Bug has been reported.
When saving pictures from the internet it doesn't default to a standard folder. It uses the cloud folder and even with sync to cloud off I have to move it to the main local folder to get the pictures available to send or attach to email.
Speedtest.net doesn't connect to show download speeds. It will show a slow upload speed.
Visual VoiceMail doesn't seem to work on AT&T's network. If I give them my old HTC One IEMI number the visual voicemail works but the DATA does not. I can live with it for now.
Anyone got the Visual Voicemail to work with connecting Data on AT&T? If so what phone did they put in the system to make it work? the HTC One does not work. Confirmed this twice.
If they release an LTE version that would work with AT&T here that would be killer!!! I really do like the phone. The size, the weight, the shape. I would love to see this one in White or Silver 64GB.

There will be very soon, devices squad on snapdragon 800 SoC : xperia z1, zr (?), LG G2, Note 3 and more ... mean we can start poke their code to used as "base" to start write device tree on cm / aosp/ aokp. I have also very limited skill to write android code ... let us learn together. Mine on stock MIUIv5 and I satisfy with the phone performance. Miui serve what we need for basic computed including archiving/extracting files. It's handy i did not need to carry my laptop anymore when travelling
I haven't had to flash a rom since my Galaxy Nexus! I am only considering flashing to get lollipop.
I do have a few questions. I know there are no xposed modules. I see that CM has the hotspot hack already built in.# 1. Do all the other verizon g3 roms have this baked in as well?
What about the screen redraw fix,# 2. is that issue fixed on 5.0?
Also, #3. would anyone care to chime in as far as a comparison between the few 5.0+ roms that are available?
G3 tweaks box will no longer be usable. That is sad to me. However I wont need to worry about nav/status bar tinting as its built into 5.0. I am worried about battery life though. Right now with greenify, cf lumen, and amplify, I get 4 hrs of screen on time with the stock battery. And less than 1%/hr idle drain.
I downloaded bump'd TWRP, extracted the recovery.img and flashed it using flashify. I am currently on rooted 4.4.2 10b.
Lastly, #4 here's an important question. If i use SoftCard (formerly ISIS), how will I be able to use something like RootCloak to prevent it from knowing my phone is rooted? If after December 31st SoftCard still offers $1 off per transaction, I will definitely need to use this.
EDIT: I have discovered a similar alternative called Cydia Substrate and Root Cloak Plus. But upon further investigation I have not seen any support for android after kitkat.
Thank you all for your time. Merry Christmas + Happy Holidays
I loaded up liquid smooth and it was pretty sweet. My one word of warning. The camera gets nuked. Deal breaker for me. Back to stick rooted with g3tweaksbox.

1. Most have it baked in, but stability varies. Some have a tendency to cause a kernel crash every so often....at least they used to. Stability is getting better and better. Simple reboot fixed any potential crash.
2. I don't know what screen redraw fix you're referring to
3. I've tried quite a few different ones, and so far the slimlp beta has been the best as far as stability, with the new illusion rom following close behind and not being quite as stabile or oddity-free, but having a TON more features, so that's currently my dd. All others I either haven't tried for a while, had issues shortly after install, or couldn't stand the poor taste in boot animation (lol) and proceeded to uninstall haha
4. As you mentioned before, xposed is not compatible with the art runtime (aka the runtime 5.0 and beyond use). So, no art compatibility = no xposed. No xposed = no root cloak. No root cloak = no soft card. I fix the whole issue by using Google wallet, if for nothing other than the fact that I refuse to support Verizon any more than I already am forced to (coverage wise) as my hatred for them is sincere Lol
Edit: Referring to the above post - camera, wifi hotspot, mobile data, and bluetooth have been big sticking points for aosp on the vs985....however the current 5.0 roms have kicked about 90 percent (or more) of all the big rom breaking issues, so stability is definitely to dd status if you can live with occasional quirks, IMHO.
Yeah but the camera still hasn't been addressed. Stock camera takes ok pictures but laser auto focus doesn't seem to work. The OPO camera adds a few more features but still doesn't use laser focus. Both are slow to focus, featureless, and perform fairly poorly in low light. At least from my experience. The other past sticking points were non issues for me. I didn't try hotspot though.

Yes, those points are true....camera definitely leaves a bit to still be desired. However, it does seems to at least fc and/or give me the "can't connect to camera" error much less, if at all currently. That's more what I was making....basic stability, not true usability lol

Thanks for the fast reply. I really don't use my camera all that much. So the camera isn't a huge deal breaker for me permanently. Bluetooth would need to work most of the time for my lg g watch though. How has your battery life been?
This Cydia Substrate has me hopeful. Maybe there's a chance it will support 5.0+ sooner rather than later.

The only way to get all Samsung Note features (including mhl and reliable bluetooth) is to run a stock based ROM.
Most custom Roms will support most s pen features either natively or with the use of a 3rd party app.
Multitasking through halo/splitview/floating window etc. is available in many custom ROMs. There are also multi-window mods (2 different mods depending on varient) for the JB stock based ROMs that work identical to that on Note 2.
Speed/reliability varies depending on what you use your phone for and individual ROMs vary also.
Check out the Super Everything thread for the ATT Note i717 or search the android development thread for the features that matter most to you.
Edit: I hope this gives you some direction. Favorite ROM threads are not allowed and I think for most flashers their favourite is the one they flashed after they became bored with their last try.

I don't know the full names on these, just I have seen them inaction. My 717 is much faster running lollipop. but its not 100 percent stable.

I am deeply sorry, this ROM never saw the light of a proper release. After all the silence, everyone needs an update. I went through a great deal, involving becoming homeless and such, the phone I used to test was stolen, and I lost the computer with all the files for the ROM. Having finally became stable enough to develop, I no longer have anything I would need to develop ROM's for this device.
Without further ado, this ROM is EOL (End Of Life) and won't see any further updates, my development won't continue for this device any further unless anyone can help with donations toward a test device. (Not expecting it) PM me for more info if you wish. With that, I am once again, extremely regretful that I can't continue, but I have no means to continue. Thanks for all the support I once received, catch me on the S6 forums with some new stuff soon!

Hello all! I am introducing a new ROM that I have been working on behind closed doors to give us a great Note7/S8 Experience on our Note Edge devices.

Techinically yes, but this ROM is designed around a clean experience that just works. I do not use mods in my ROM unless they are a system tweak or a small addition to improve performance/battery.
I don't believe in mods because some of them have poor implementation and cause issues due to apps not being developed to handle these differences. A good example is people modding their ROMs to have more Nougat style notifications on Marshmallow. These are problematic as the weird set up of the notifications layout can cause problems with apps that don't recognize the change.
My ROM is close to being ready for a Public Release, but keep in mind that I and no other ROM maker are perfect and the ROM may have issues as it grows to fruition.
I will build on this thread once I am ready for release.

Unsure as to what you mean by built-in edge-panel, do you mean the Note 7 version, or the original Note Edge version. If it is the Note 7 version, it is already implemented, I can't implement the original Note Edge panel due to incompatibilities and Performance issues.

Unfortunately, I do not know how to support the SC01G, I can only reliably support devices that are supported by RamKernel, as that is the kernel my Rom relies on. You are free to try any kernel and data fix to see, but I can't be of service. I only build for devices I have nearby and are able to easily test.
Also, sorry friends, the testers and I are still working on some troublesome bugs that make deployment not possible yet. I am also exploring alternative packing methods to lessen the package size to make it easier on bandwidth as well. I don't have an ETA yet, but I promise that the ROM will be worth your while.
I only have one request.
No need to put another camera app on this ROM other than the stock note edge camera but please make it in full screen with no black bars on either side because aside from fingerprint issue that is the only thing that is not fixed on ported roms for our note edge. We will be very happy to see that.
if not possible then please at least make it run in 2560x1440 rather than 2560x1600 that creates a big black bar on the left. side. Thanks.

I implemented a Note 7 Camera into this ROM, I can't use the old Note Edge camera app because it relies on the edge framework from the old edge ROM. It has incompatibilities with my current ROM and can't implement it. Unfortunately, you will have to seek out a new camera app. Sorry I can't help you.
Screenshots look great! Can't wait mate
Hi, I want to test it and put it on my device a 915FY, here you have it at your disposal.
The clock night would be good to work.

Hi mate,
does this mean you have the Note edge cocktailbarservice running. Could you solve the issue with the swap from lock screen to the launcher? I have almost everything running except those issue.
Cheers.

It does not, I mean its a ROM built with support for Note Edge and is tweaked that way. The OS uses Note 7's cocktailbar service. And what do you mean by swap from lock screen to launcher?
Add support to the canadian model like seriously
Will it run on N915P as well?

Thank you for your answer mate. Yeah the switch, not easy to describe for me. If you're on lock screen you have on the edge the "Galaxy Note Edge" (or you modify it with "My Design". When you unlock the edge does switch to your default cocktail feed like CatchMe. This switch does not work on the port.

Oh, I understand what you mean. The reason that the Note Edge CocktailBar couldn't be ported is because I am using Norma's Note 7 port. Some may consider it cheap that I use a base and modify it heavily; but it makes no sense to try and reinvent the wheel.

AAAhhh, i also had problems to implement the Note edge cocktailbar to the Norma rom. That's why i did it with the X-Rom and Noble rom. And why not take a could base to modify, i think it is a good choice.
Thanks for your effort for our mobile.
Cheers
