I also had same problem with my last android phone.
Sometimes it is possible that bluetooth devices are not compatible.
I had a motorola which I wasn't able to connect it to my Macbook Pro...
I hve Samsung galaxy 2 for T-Mobile and on web os it connected.
It depends on what you are actually trying to do. My phone pairs but doesn't "connect" but when I send a file through bluetooth, then it connects accepts the file and then disconnects.

I wanted to do.the text messaging on tablet while connected to the phone. Like I said on webos it worked. Android side not so much. As for file transfers I haven't seen that work yet

As far as I know android doesn't have this built in by default. You need an app to do that. I use DeskSms on my phone to do this.

Mine pairs but says it doesn't connect. When I share a file through bt to the tp it accepts it and transfers.

So guys, I lost my Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 inside my house somewhere and I cannot find it. I know the GPS is on and the device is on with little battery. Is there any way I can find it? My Google account is on it so is there anyway I can find it with GPS? BTW, I do not have any texting apps on it. Any help? Thanks

You should call on police, and tell them, you have got a drags, they will give you hard revision!! And you will get your desired sgp!!
Have you turned on wifi before you lost?

Yes, I turned on WiFi. It's always on.

You might be able to use a laptop with wifi signal strength anaylizer software to locate your device???

Use your router to locate him, there should be singals of all devices connected to the router, so, you can easily locate SGP5

You can't use GPS to find it considering the accuracy probably spans the entirety of your home. You may be able to locate it with wireless information from your router. I'd hurry though in the case that your battery drains quickly with WiFi always on.
Worst case, you'll come across it while cleaning or just retrace your steps to when you last had it.
Well guys, I found it using using the Plan B app from Lookout Security. It connected to my Google account and found where the location was in my house. Any suggestions on how I can be prepared next time? Like a backup GPS?

you can get a communicator like skype, parlingo etc. and if you lost again, you will be able to locate SGP with one call/massage to SGP.
you cant use GPS, coz accuracy of GPS is nearly of 15m-10m,
you can use also a spectrum analyser or a wifi device with monitor mode on, but the first cost ~600$, the second is hard to do, those two need to have wifi turned on SGP.
A couple of options:
You could install skype, or some other app that lets you receive calls, messages, or whatever over wi-fi. Configure the app with an audible alert when a call is received, and then just call your player when you lose it.
Configure the email client to play an alert sound when a new email is received, and email yourself when you need to find your phone
Download google voice and get a free phone number you can text from your computer or phone. Couple it with groove ip app and you have a free wi fi phone service. I use it all the time.
OK, Thanks Guys!

I know it's bad form to resurrect old threads, but I noticed an app on Google Play apparently made for this exact situation. it's called "Wheres My Droid" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alienmanfc6.wheresmyandroid)
install app androidlost....it is not using any memory because its using google account and app after first time doesnt need to be even started as any process normal or background...and then go to www.androidlost.com ..log with your google id and you can do what ever comes to your mind with device remotely.I find my phone and tablet with that 10 times by now or scare my friend who use it because you can even play police siren remotey on device. And this free app is also awsome for spying your girlfriend if she has android phone..mine have no idea that i read all here messages and now who calls here and who she calls..but for now she is good girl

Wifi file explorer pro works beautifully for what you need. Or do u mean sending from phone to phone over wifi? In that case frostwire works.

Its been my speculation, htc has wifi direct, for something that eludes me, it does not work as the wifi direct in most samsung devices, i really dont know the purpose of it, probably for some stupid wireless device of theres, but our wifi direct is defeltly missing alot of stuff, iv tried multiple time to transfer stuff, between my bros vivid, and my rezound, but it never works, we can connect to each other, but files never get sent.
A workaround is simply to use wifi tether on one phone with infrastructure mode.
Then, connect the other phone to the wifi tethered phone.
Fire up Samba Filesharing on either phone. Connect with ES File explorer on the other , and you're good to go.

the only thing i use wifi direct for is occasionally with my hp printer works good though

So, I'm running OC5 OTA update, rooted of course, and have Hotspot working with the APN dun addition (not Galaxy Tools). Is there any way to keep Hotspot from turning itself off when I get a call while on a 3G network? Id like to keep it running until I choose to turn it off, regardless of the state of mobile data. See attached screenshot.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT:
Looks like it's not letting me attach my screenshot. See it here: https://www.dropbox.com/sc/73ot1zhyjhtnvrs/AABxxLdUh2USUIpwIddj3c0Ra

This. Only lte and Wi-Fi does your connection remain on, on 3G it disconnects.

Maybe I'm being misunderstood. I know data and voice don't work at the same time on 3G. I want the Hotspot to remain on, even without a data connection so the clients that are connected don't lose their connection to each other. Yes, I realize that they cannot connect to the interwebs but I use the Wifi AP to stream Plex from one device to another and it's a pain to reconnect and start the stream over. My kids also use it to play games together on their iPads.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.

My understanding is that if the data connection is lost, then hotspot turns off by itself. I'm not sure if I've ever seen any way to change this.
One thing you could do is use tasker or automate it to setup rules to turn it back on when your phone call has ended.
Sent from my SM-N900P using XDA Free mobile app
I'll give that a try. I don't recall it being that way prior to LP or on my S4. Oh well, thanks for the suggestion!

Accidentally set up email link for Opera browser only, resetting phone did not work, via Sony Customer support. Did a full reset, in which NFC no longer works for Bluetooth, to connect Sony MDR-10RBT and SRS -BTX500.
Both were working normally BEFORE reset. PCC repair was useless, as is Sony Support.
What is EXTREMELY STRANGE is my DSC-QX10 connected via NFC WITHOUT A PROBLEM, and started PMM app automatically.
Also, had to pair speaker ? manually via Bluetooth, yet cannot do the same with headphones. Both are within close proximity of my mobile phone. When using NFC, phone does vibrate, and tone does sound, yet CANNOT pair Bluetooth devices via NFC.
Right now I'm at my wits end, and would appreciate any help, and support, in this matter.
Sent from my C6806 using XDA Free mobile app
Finally paired ? headphones with XZU, but I'm still Pissed had to do this manually, as I used to connect via NFC without a problem, until the full reset.
Sony Non-Support is about as useful as ??

Are you using a custom rom by chance?
No, straight stock, with OS update.

Somehow, after Bluetooth pairing both speaker ? and ? headphones, NFC is working once again.
Have absolutely NO IDEA what caused this, or how this resolved itself.

Sounds like a glitch. Shouldn't be a problem unless it happens often. If it does, do a factory reset, which is the same as formatting your computer, which you should also do like once a year. It's perfectly normal that things start glitching and gets buggy the more you use it and the more crap you install. Also, if you didn't do a factory reset after updating to the latest Android version, you have yourself to blame. Always do a reset after jumping between OS-bases (4.0-4.1-4.3-4.4-5.0-5.1-6.0).
This occurred AFTER I did a complete factory reset.
It might have taken AFTER powering off my mobile phone.
Not sure, as this is still a mystery to me. As well as NFC working to pair with QX-10, yet unable to with other Bluetooth devices!!

Huh, then I'm not sure what it is. Could be the NFC chip acting up or something. Don't know, but if it's working now, good.
