I was reading in the forum about a company out of Texas that can take your phone back to stock with unlocked bootloader. I even emailed them for answers to a couple of questions that I had and they answered me back with what I needed. I am now ready to send my phone out to be fixed. Now I lost the email and for the life of me can not find that post again. If anybody knows where this imformation is, please post it here for me or give me the link.
Thank you.

Because if you took the 4.3 or higher Ota or have a phone pre-installed with it, then you can't revert back to an older version of Android where the bootloader can be unlocked. This service is supposed to be able to do that with the hardware they have.

Seems kind of crazy that if you ARE on a forum like this AND own this phone you don't know this...it is ALL over the forum about Knox & 4.3. I heard the "other" phone is on sale if you decide to get one!
Well I have my phone back and as advertised, they took my phone back to 4.1.2 with the VRAMC3 bootloader which is as we all know, unlocked. I'll tell you that it was worth every penny. And it wasn't the "lazy way out". It was the only way out. There is no way to unlock the updated bootloader, which you would know by reading the threads for this phone. And by the way, here, or XDA forums, is where I found the information to even do this. I have my unlocked phone back and am happily flashing again.

Pleased that YOU had a good experience!
I'm surprised to see that someone else had a good experience with this company. So far dealing with this company has been a huge disappointment; not the impression I was under, considering all of the good reviews. I guess "service" just like products are like everything else...sometimes you get a lemon. I'm about to dispute the charge based on suspected fraud.

I can vouch for Josh. He does get busy. Just think about all the phone he gets sent. I will tell you that he is good for his work, will be fair, and if you have an issue, he will work something out with you (this is from my personal experience) He had my phone for over a month. But apologized for it and did not charge me the fee. (not saying he will do this for you) But I know it's hard but be patient and he will get back to you.

At some point this summer I plan on buying a new phone, likely an iPhone. My Samsung is currently running Cyanogenmod and the UI blatantly looks much different than a stock phone.
I'm guessing the answer to all this is they won't care, but if you bring in your rooted/customized phone and the people at Verizon are transferring data or anything from that phone to a new phone or otherwise messing with your rooted phone that works fine, do they care if they notice your phone is rooted? Does it violate any terms relating to your overall contract, or does anyone have any experience with them giving you a lecture about not doing that?
I'm not sure if we are violating our contracts... but I can tell you that the last time I was in my local Verizon store, 3 out of the 4 employees I talked to were running rooted phones. If you are nervous, just Odin back to stock before you go in.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA
it's in no way a violation of the contract. Android is all open source so you can do what you want. Most people think it's pretty cool if you have a rooted/rommed phone, although I'm sure a few Verizon people frown upon it. If you bought the phone it's yours, you can do what you want lol

They wouldn't be supporting it. They'd be transferring his account to a new phone, which means he's going to give them money which they usually like. If he was coming in for a repair then they wouldn't. You won't have any problem.

He was asking if he'd have any trouble with them transferring data like contacts to a new device. If the new device is an android, pretty much everything including contacts is backed up on Google servers so no problem, but if he gets an iPhone like he mentioned, I'm not sure how they would transfer contact data. But that's something it might be helpful to be back on the stock software for. Just my two cents, like I said I don't know how that data transfer between a fascinate and iOS device would go.

That's what I thought too, but didn't know if that app comes on iPhones. I thought they came free of any carrier software, which is something I've gotta give Apple credit for. Although knowing how simple they make iOS devices for technologically unsavvy people, I've gotta think there's a pretty simple way to get your contacts.
I'm not really sure what you'd need Verizon for when getting a new device either, the only thing I can think of is getting your sim card for an LTE device.

Well, I'm stock and I've had the issue of mobile data not working. Oh, and let's not forget the terrible awake times that drain the battery. It seems unfair that these forums would only be for those who unlock their bootloaders and install custom roms. Maybe you're right though and maybe I'll just go elsewhere if I need help.
Why call AT&T for regards to an update anyway. You will have much better luck calling the manufacture. Sometimes you can get them to throw the carrier under the bus. Sometimes they say the update has already been submitted to the carrier for testing. Of course they could be lying. My point is, you won't get a right answer for AT&T but you may get a plausible answer from LG.

Basically what he does is, he uses his JTAG device and program to reflash the bootloader/download mode to the device. This is why he has to open the phone up and solder wires directly to the mainboard. Once the bootloader is all working, he can put the phone back together and reboot the phone into download mode. From there he most likely uses LGNPST to flash back all the other partitions.
This is just my best guess from watching the video.

Hey, guys. I bought a Droid DNA to use on AT&T. Everything is working fine, but it came with the older software version (1.5) and I'm not planning to root, so I wanted to update it to 2.04.
The problem is, it's not an option. It seems like it will only let me update if I have a CDMA signal. Anyone know a way around this? I already took out my SIM card and set it to CDMA mode. That actually lights up the "check for updates" button, but it still doesn't find anything. There has to be a way to update this phone without Verizon service.
You could root then flash the ota

It probably had something to do with the fact that I specifically said "without rooting" and that was the immediate response...IDIOT.
Example:
Question: "Can anyone recommend an action movie that doesn't star Bruce Willis".
Answer: "I recommend Die Hard".
Duh?
It's not helpful to suggest the one thing that someone says they don't want to do. That's what I would classify as smartass. I was trying to see if anyone else knew of another method. The friend sim card came up as an option later. I suggest you check yourself.
For those crying "root" because the phone was on a software version that allows it, I flip my phones pretty quickly and I don't want to permanently unlock a phone that I will probably be selling or trading sometime in the near future.

Said I was out of space for updates and so on. Couldnt get it fixed and flashed Mean Bean to it. This is really not a very complicated procedure. Everything you would have to do you can look up and find out how to do it via Google. Its better than having to pay $60 to have it JTAGed. I'm not even sure if JTAGing it would be the way to go seeing as how it giant hard bricked and the steps to fix it are fairly explained in that thread. If you cant do what the thread explains find a techie family member or friend, show them the thread and ask them to do it.

I have a very bad feeling about this shop, I'm pretty sure they're going to screw you pretty hard when you could've sent it off for $60 and had it JTAGed.

He doesn't like to listen to people on the forums who have gone through this **** before, he only listens to repair shops that don't even know what JTAGing is.

Romotx - You jumped into the pool when you started flashing, but then you didn't want to learn how to swim. Did you even try typing the commands in the linked thread? That's how it works you type commands carefully and when you get an error you look that error up and try it again. Got a new error, look that one up, and so on. The more you do, the more help you get here. But it sounds like you were not very careful to start with to bork your phone that bad.
It's too late for you, but for others, when something goes wrong take a step back and take a breath. Do some reading, make sure you understand where you went wrong, and what and why you are doing next to your phone. What ever you did should have been an easy fix at some earlier point in time.
But good luck in getting your phone repaired.

Yes and that link that was posted earlier tells you exactly how to fix it. You just don't want to use it. If you can't get into CWM or TWRP try it on what shows up when you boot into recovery, for Christ's sake it's even telling you to use ADB commands which is exactly what that thread tells you to do. If you had pages attention you would know that.
Instead of taking it to a "shop" that obviously doesn't know its ass from a hole in the ground you should listen to the people in the community who have been through this before.

We did help you! You now know that you don't take your phone to a "repair shop"! Lol.
But seriously, listen to dude above, or wait for droidstyle or kintwofan to pop in. They'll answer the same way they do every other time this happens. Search for "bricked note 2 xda" and add "kintwofan" or "droidstyle" to the mix (WILDCARD) and see how many hits you get. Doesn't matter if the symptoms aren't exact - TRY IT.
What bad can happen? You gonna brick your phone? Hell, it may even start working again!?

Its very odd that it was advertised recently then, hmmm I have to see what I can find out.
As for the option that someone else linked earlier, have you tried it yet? It seems like the perfect solution to your problem. Granted you can't get into recovery the screen it shows you tells you to use ADB which is exactly what the fix uses.
As for beating you over the head, what the hell do you expect? You come asking for advice and then don't take ANY of it and act like we are all fools.

I never acted like anybody was a fool. I have been lurking and reading for years on here. I respect everyone's advice here! I have a $600.00 phone that I screwed up,yes thats what you have to do with Verizon to keep your unlimited data plan that they grandfathered you into and now when you want to upgrade it's pay full price for the phone or you get 2Gb. plan, and I don't feel confident enough to fix it like you guys suggest. I have never used ADB, I have never had a brand of phone where you could unlock the bootloader, I'm not a command and scripts and whatever voodoo you guys do to these phones.kind of guy. I can build computers and I have rooted and put roms on 2 other phones. I can't afford to buy another phone and in this backwoods hick town when you talk to anybody about rooting a phone they have no idea what the heck your even talking about.
