How to move app+data to SD card? - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have rooted the phone just because I came to know it'll be possible to move all app and the data to the sd card after rooting and I can keep installing apps without internal storage space coming to and end. Now I dont understand how to do it. Somebody please provide a detailed tutorial or some link to such a tutorial. I am a noob, mind that.

I used folder mount and facebook application has 47MB of data. I set the from location as "storage/emulated/0/android/data/[req. folder]" (this is the internal storage) and to location was automatically created. It moved nothing to the SD card as the space before and after were the same on SD card. :/

If want to move user/app data (root>data>data) link from there, but beware because it could make the application unstable or slow.
Moving from (sd>android>data) will only move app data if the application stores it's assests at that location.
(BTW did not mean to thankyou)

Is there any alternative to link2sd? I cant pay for it (the plus version which has the data moving feature). And folder mount just makes fool of me and simply doesnt work. It does move but not in reality, no extra space on my SD card is consumed after it performs its job so its useless.

link2sd is far better than folder mount... u dont need to move it one by one... select all then link all thats it

I got the plus version. It seems to be nice as of yet. But it's kinda confusing. There are 2 options.. Move to SD n create link. Move to SD does the same job as the one available in the stock app manager. It doesn't move the data. When I use the create link option, it gives me 4 options. I check them all n create the link. This seems to be working. Does this create link procedure move all the data and app to the SD card? And leave nothing on the internal memory?

[Guide] REAL guide for FULL Apps2SD using Clockwork. [UPDT 9.28.2012]

This guide is bullet proof. It will not damage your phone in any way or make it run any risks as long as you follow step by step.
What you'll need:
Any Android phone with CWM5 installed
For S2E - A CyanogenMod rom running on your phone. (Doesn't matter if a custom rom based on CM7 or CM7 itself. If S2E doesn't work, contact your rom's developer.)
Step by Step Guide
This part of the guide can be used simply to just make a partition on your SD. You don't have to use S2E which is completely optional. You can use any other app that fits your needs.
Backup your SD card data to PC before start partitioning.
Power on your phone
Hold the Home and Power button
Use volume down button to go down to ‘advanced’.
Then press home button
Select ‘Partition SD Card’.
Select the ext size that you want (128M, 256M, 512M, 1024M, 2048M or 4096M). (I use 256MB)
Select 0M as the Swap Size.
Copy back your data to SD card.
That’s all
Next;
For S2E
Go to CM settings and check 'Application moving'
Install S2E
Check the'Applications' box
Check the 'Dalvic Cache' box
Reboot your phone
For INT2EXT+ (For CM10.1 check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37939052&postcount=1121)
Download from the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124
Place it on the root of the SD
Make sure you delete ANY A2SD you have in your init.d folder.
Boot up CWM5
Mount system and data
Look for it and flash it (In "Install zip from SD")
Format SD EXT (In mounts and storage)
Reboot your phone
For Amarullz
Download the file attached to the first post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310309
Delete any A2SD scripts you might already have on your phone in the init.d folder
Extract the zip and put the script in the init.d folder
Change permissions to rw-r-r or to rwxrwxrwx if the first one doesn't work for you.
Reboot
I DO NOT USE LINK2SD OR RECOMMEND IT EITHER SO DON'T ASK.
When you reboot, it will take some time because of the Dalvic cache being moved to the SD card. When you install something, it will be installed automatically in the SD card, resulting in a completely empty internal storage.
NOTE FOR S2E: Some widgets or applications that have widgets, don't work while installed in the SD card. Those must be moved to the internal storage. The same thing applies to any themes you're using, launcher, camera apps, or anything else you believe should be installed internally.
NOTE 2: Please also keep in mind that when you reboot your phone (or turn it on) anything installed in the SD won't work until the phone is done scanning the SD card and confirms the item is installed.
NOTE 3: To delete the partition, you'll have to format the whole SD card. For that you have to use the Android Settings>Storage>Format SD. Any other way and the partition WILL NOT be erased. Make sure you back up before doing this.
S2E and AMARULLZ work with CM BASED ROMS ONLY but INT2EXT is UNIVERSAL.
You can try DarkTremor's script which is the same thing basically but I don't really know how to set it up so you'll have to find your own guide. And Links2SD doesn't free up that much memory but at least its something.
Please read this post carefully before asking any questions. I will ignore EVERY QUESTION who's answer is on this post.
Thanks to DavySML125 for the CM10.1 tip.
Fun fact: I use my own guide every time I flash a new rom

Depends on how much memory you think you'll consume. I'd still say go for 1GB. I have 100+ apps installed and I haven't even used half that GB. I'm using a 8GB class 4 or 6 (I forgot) and I'm thinking of lowering it to 500MB.
Does that with cyanogen and not on stock rom.

Xperia Neo - Move application data to SD

Hi,
I have an Xperia neo running stock firmware 4.0.2.A.0.62, the phone is already rooted and I have been using Link2SD to move the applications to the second partition of my SD card (ext3 partition) and so far it was working fine until I installed a couple of games that created about 100 MB of application cache, Link2SD does not move app cache.
How can I move app cache to SD?
FIXED
Hi,
I just fixed my problem, I used Root Explorer to create new folder in the SD card second partition, them moved application data folder and finally created a link.
hi mate
can you explain a bit more detailed how you did that?
Did you just move the folder with root explorer?
cheers
Hi,
First at all, you need to have a rooted phone.
Then after installing the game and launching the game for the first time it will create the app cache folder. After that just close the game and use any root browser and look for the app cache folder. I)f you are not sure where it is you can use Link2SD and select your game and it will tell you all the application's directories. The app cache should be in a path like this: /data/data/<app name>.
Go to that location with your root browser and select that folder and move it to your SD card second partition (for example /data/sdext2/) the exact location of your SD card second partition will depend of the mount point for it. Be very careful with what folders do you move.
On the folder where you moved the app data folder look for it and select it and select "Link to this folder", go back to the folder /data/data and create the link.
That should do it.
Please note: All this process can be done from command line, but I really only use android command line if the phone is connected to my PC and sometimes I do not have a PC with me.

How can I create second partition?
I don't understand what do you mean by (for example /data/sdext2/) !
I have 2 partitions on my SD card, the first partition is the normal partition and a second ext4 partition on the SD card, I used the partition manager application in Fedora Linux to create it. There are some other applications to create EXT partitions from Windows.
In the Link2SD app description are more details on how to create the 2nd partition on the SD card:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD&hl=en
If you have a stock kernel then try using EXT3 or EXT2 for the additional partition.
I do not know if it is possible to create links on the SD first partition, never tried before.

I tried it but it will only work depending on the mount point used, titanium backup will not recognize the mount point created by Link2SD.

that is absolutely not true. you dont need a custom kernel to partition your sd card.
what you need is a class 4 and above memory card and a rooted phone.

Link2sd moves tha app on my ext sd card (not the phone sd card) but i know that it doesn't move it completly, it moves only a part, the other still stay on the memory's phone (or phone sd card i don't know).
I read a some post on this and in order to move totally the app to the ext sd card I know is necessary create a partition on the ext sd card and have a custom kernel (i'm not really sure about this last thing because a user over here says that it doesn't necessary and stock kernel is ok);
I only want to know if there is a alternative method to move the full app on the ext sd card (like the script in the post of the development section, but i don't understand if it's the solution that i'm seraching) or the only way is create a partition on the sd card (using a mod kernel or not..).
tnx a lot!

[Q] How to move Fb and whatsapp in SDcard

Hi
Someone plz tell me how to move fb and whatsapp in SDcard. From Manage Application Move to SDcard option is disabled also in App2SD unable to transfer it.
Is it possible????It consumes a lot of space....
For moving apps those do not support to move in SD by default, you need root access on your device & then use any app such as "DroidSail Super App2SD" to move them forcefully to SD card.

Moving facebook on sd card every time you open it, it will erase the data and you will have to repeat the account access.
If you have rooted device, you can use titanium backup to move them to SD.
The app has been moved to SD card, but i am not sure about data stored by these apps.
Data was still in phone memory, i guess.

Easiest way is to use cwm recovery..there is a option partion of sd card click that u will ask about the size, preferabaly give 512mb that it press ok ur sd card partition is over..otherwise use windows minitool partition wizard but u need pc to do it..just google it u will get the procedure to do it.. and one more thing ur sd card content will get erased so backup ur sd card contents to ur pc..

1) Root (I used twrp + magisk method)
2) Download "App2SD" (the original by Vicky Bonick; it's free) and follow instructions on how to create partitions
3) Use "folder mount (app analyzer)" feature, which apparently was not considered in the old posts in this forum, so I suppose it was recently added to Apps2SD.
It's like folder mount, but it's pre-set for some common apps, including Whatsapp. With this feature, you can successfully move Whatsapp media folder to SD, in one clic.
In my case everything worked fine. When I reboot I have to re-mount folder, but it takes one second (just open Apps2SD, tap Folder Mount, slide "whatsapp other").

Phone storage too low

Hello. I am really not sure if this is the right place to post my query. I am sorry if its not.
I recently downloaded PikaOS2 ROM for my CHD A116i. Everything seems to be working fine for 2 days. I am really loving the rom. Last night I downloaded NBA 2k14 from a torrent. It is about 600mb file. To my surprise there was just an apk file of that size rather then apk plus data which I was expecting. I tried to install the apk but I always get an error saying not enough space. My default write disk is external SD card which has a space of around 5 GB available and my phone storage has a capacity of 0.98 GB out of which 286mb is available. I have no idea why its trying to install the game on my phone storage even though I have selected external SD card as my primary write disk.
I was also wondering why is there another slot of internal SD card which has around 1.76gb space and not even a single mb is being saved there. From what I can see is that this 1.76gb of space is going waste as I have never seen anything being written or saved on this internal SD card.
Anyways, can someone please help me installing the game.
I tried posting this on the official PikaOS2 thread, but it won't let me post there.
Thank you in advance

Some space is also occupied by phone (not internal memory)
Go to settings- apps -downloaded
See the space there
Delete/uninstall few apps n then try
I somehow managed to get around 550mb available after deleting some rarely used apps. Can i delete some of the google apps which r useless. Also i dont unterstand why the app is trying to install in phone memory when i have selected tge default location as external sd card

So i am having the same problem with updating the apps and installing new ones which aren't that big. Now I read at several places that, swapping internal memory with external, theoretically should give us enough space to install and run all the apps. I followed the instructions and did it successfully. However, the real issue is still there. The thing is with Canvas HD, there is an additional partition created by the name of Phone Storage. After doing the swapping process, I realized that Phone Storage is still the same. Swapping only affected the internal memory and external memory.
My question here is, Is there a way i can make the Phone storage partition to increase (from vold.fstab, maybe)? If not then, i guess i'm stuck with this low memory since i have deleted all the useless app and cant delete anymore?
Try to use data extension of internal memory becoz m using it now
Now my internal storage is 2.25gb so u too try
