My Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300, 16GB (UK - Everything Everywhere network formerly T-Mobile) freezes on the flash screen that says "Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-I9300" on boot up.
I can't get into the Recovery Menu. I can get into Download Mode. Phone has not been rooted, nor has it ever had a firmware upgrade before - I got it in September 2012 and am pretty sure its JellyBean so probably version 4.1.2.
I've tried all of the below using combinations of two different official Samsung USB cables and three different USB ports. I've also tried two different batteries but nothing works.
Tried Firmware upgrade via Kies - "This device's version cannot be updated"
Tried flashing stock ROM via Odin (I9300XXEMF1_I9300EVREMF1_I9300BVEMF1_HOME.tar.md5) - "There is no PIT partition"
Tried repartitioning via Odin (GT-I9300_mx_20120220.pit) - "Get PIT for mapping" hangs on that for 30 mins or more ...
Is there anything more I can do? I'm guessing the PIT file is the wrong one as the date is prior to the release of JellyBean but I can't find any others for a 16GB S3.
Any help much appreciated!

If you mean the stuff at the top left of the screen it says:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME:
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: No
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
Your emmc chip is damaged, new motherboard required. If less than 2 years old then contact Samsung for warranty repair.

Hi. I have a SGS2 for 6 months, and yesterday I tried to update from 2.3.5 to 4.0.3 ICS. I used Odin -> vol- -> home button -> power to get into download mode and did all those stuff. [It was the official Poland md5 file, no root]
It didn't work, getting everytime boot.ini error. After that, I tried exactly what's on the bootloop topic and then here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458 to get back on my 2.3.5. Everytime I got the samsung logo and yellow triangle [only when I used the stock kernel], others md5 file over 250mb never flashed/ passed odin.
+ the symptoms below
Enters Download mode but does NOT enter recovery mode (usually means a NAND rw corruption)
Doesn't flash
Bad flash in odin (FAIL after flashing, or the flashing suddenly stops)
I checked every USB port, uninstalled kies but not the usb drivers, used 2 different cables and only rear usb panels. Tried different firmwares for i9100, like 12 or something.
Now my battery died, [low battery!! can't download..]. I don't have any other i9100, so no other battery.
What can I do now beside praying that it's not broken?
One USB recovery jig to force download mode
Two Paid for JTag repair
Three Paid for service centre repair.
Four Donate a brick to the new XDA building .
jje
I'm able to enter in the download mode. Assuming I get a charged battery, what should I do next?
Last time I used stock 'Kernel_I9100XWLA4' and that yellow triangle appeard + 'GT-I9100_DBT_I9100XWLA4_I9100XXKI4_I9100DBTKH1', but this one failed.
Do I really need to take every update and see if it works on my phone?

Flash a stock GB firmware do not flash ICS .
Get the phone in working order is the first step .

I just downloaded the official gingerbread [2.3.4 september - i9100] firmware from samfirmware.com.
still doesn't work. stuck at boot.bin
l.e.
all these problems after I watched and did everything I saw on a youtube video [How to Unroot/Unbrick your Galaxy S2 i9100! [ICS]]
Now I got a battery charged up, I can use download mode, flash any stock kernel [but stuck at loading with yellow triangle], and never flashed an official update [2.3.4, 2.3.5, 2.3.6 or 4.0.3] stuck at boot.bin
I also found on another forum someone with the same problem on a i9100G. He used a pit file and repartition, but after all researching everyone says it is some risky way.
You said you tried 2 different cables... I would buy a brand new cable (can be generic microUSB) and try again. I've seen more than one person have to try three before they found one that worked.
The second usb cable was from a friend with an identical i9100. still tried with some no-name cable and no result.. also I installed usb drivers from samfirmware and tried different rear usb ports.
Now I flashed Kernel_I9100XWKI4. It shows Samsung logo and yellow triangle. If I try to flash any other firmware, it just fails.
You using a Windows 7 machine? Try running Odin as administrator. And I would STILL try a different, DIFFERENT cable.
yes, w7. tried to run it as administrator, still no result.
I don't think usb cable is the problem.
OK, but I'm just saying, there was a thread where someone had to try three cables before they found one that worked. I'd also try a different computer. Unless that computer/cable combination works with your friend's I9100?
hi,
i am new to this forum.
Only after buying the G-version of S2 in India and using it for a few weeks, I came to know that it was an inferior version to the non-G version (in the sense that it is not only under-clocked but has far lesser custom ROMs to choose for the updates).
I might sound silly, but AFAIK, there is no official Samsung ICS for this product. I don't want to get my phone bricked and I can't find a proper ICS Custom ROM either. From what I've been reading elsewhere, the Samsung Official ICS for S2-I9100G won't be released before May (After Galaxy Note in April)
Can somebody suggest me a STABLE ICS ROM for this device? And yes, you'd have already gathered by now, I am a newbie when it comes to the complicated issues of rooting/flashing/and what not.
Thanks in advance.
I read about villainrom 1.1, tried to flash it now but after 3 minutes of loading it failed. Now I'm back on stock Kernel_I9100XXKI3.
I don't know if that second usb cable was used for any updates through odin.

For an I9100G? There isn't one yet.
And it's rude to try to hijack someone else's thread, dude.
I solved it!!!!
Congratulations
Would you care to share the solution to the rest of us?
I chose randomly 'Kernel_I9100JPKF3' from a list [probably I should've checked that this was the very official version of my phone] and flashed it with some i9100 odin version from an arabic website/blog. After the reboot, I saw there was no triangle and it booted normally.
Thanks ctomgee and jje for your time!
Happy for you that you have solved your problem
Best idea, if youy have problems go back to stock, SHIPPED rom.... Never failed me yet...
yep. now I see that the wireless connection is not as stable as it was before. It has lots of moments when it's disconnected from wifi by itself.
I'm not using any battery life saver and the router is fine.

If you have the heart to venture that route again, to fix wifi issue you may want to use the ultimate kernel cleaning script and retry with the shipped or ICS kernels.
Also if you haven't yet, must read the guide to fixing unflashable soft-bricked phones.
My Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I1900 won't boot.
I tried to update to ICS with Kies which crashed, wherefore I unplugged the USB to start over.
Now my phone had no OS, and wouldn't respond to Kies anymore.
By mistake I flashed the downloaded original firmware into the bootloader section in Odin.
Now it just shows a screen that says Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100
Next I tried to recover with Odin. I flashed another firmware, and the old bootloader and attached a PIT file which worked for me earlier.
I want to now how I can make it work again.

At the moment, can you get into download mode or CWM at all? If not, you will have to purchase a jig or worst case, a JTAG.

I have downloaded the one for my phone which is
Android PDA CSC
4.0.3 I9100PXXLPH I9100PO2ULP4
Tried this twice and it failed me.
Also tried this through Kies and the same thing happens.
My player is still dead, and I noticed this new feature of Kies. Others have gotten the "Firmware Update and Initialization" working with the SGS3's and such, I tried it on my player by entering the model name as "YP-G70" and the serial number as it's listed on the box.
I'm in download mode via unbrickable resurrector, and when I try it in kies it comes back with "The model information you have entered cannot be verified; the device initialization cannot proceed." I also tried "YP-G70CWY/XAA" as shown on the box and it still doesn't work. I'm sure I have the serial number correct, maybe Samsung decided not to support these via that kies feature??
Has anyone gotten this to work?
If your in download mode just use Odin or Heimdall to flash a stock ROM, not sure whats out there for the 5.0 as I have the 4.0, Keis is a junk virtually useless app, and in a YEAR of ownership and an uncountable number of ROM flashes via Odin, Heimdall and CWM zips I have never once considered using Keis for anything.

I know, I hate kies too. The filesystem on my player is severely screwed though, if samsung released a way to put in two numbers and click ok I'm more than willing to give it a shot.
I got an SGS3 a few months ago, so while I'd love to have my SGP working again I'm not about to spend $50 to have it JTAG'd.

Hello,
My Galaxy S3 recently soft bricked after I left it uncharged for a couple of days. I have no idea what caused it, but it is now only willing to boot into download mode. I tried to replace the battery, but that didn't work. The phone was rooted about a year ago, but has always worked fine.
The phone is not recognized by windows or Samsung KIES, but Odin (multiple versions: 1.85, 3.07, 3.09) recognizes it. I am however unable to flash the stock firmware to the phone. The error message is "There is no PIT partition". I've looked around but cannot find the solution to my problem. I have tried multiple PCs, USB ports and USB cables but the problem persists.
I have not yet tried to flash a PIT file to my phone since I cannot figure out which version is the right one and I'm afraid of bricking my phone even further. The specs of my phone are as follows.
Model: GT-I9300
FCC ID: A3LGTI9300A
SSN: I9300GSMH
Thanks in advance for replying.

Looking through the threads in the general forum I can find many ways to flash to the stock firmware, but I cannot find a fix for the 'There is no PIT partition' problem. They just tell me to flash the stock firmware to the phone. I'm already at this stage, and am fairly sure I have the right firmware downloaded but it just hangs at this issue. Maybe I'm blind or just cannot find it.

probably you ticked re format if not then bad sign, phone´s partition table is messed up
i bet that you nand is bad and thats what caused the brick
the pit for your device is any pit for the i9300 but with the size of your device (i.e i9300_16gb.pit or i9300-32gb.pit)
