I actually thought it meant, "Our original ICS version had at least 1 major bug that we discovered when testing in real-world situations and we aren't going to release it until it is ready for everyone."
Of course, they could have also meant, "At least one of our 'content partners' (who are paying big bucks to get their advertisement disguised as an application inserted into our release) hasn't actually sent in their app yet and we aren't going to release it until it is monefied for everyone."
LOL im so surprised people are surprised by lack of updates from telus/rogers/bell
we may get most phones before the usa, but we pay for it with our carriers holding back updates

who says you have to have or keep that stuff? root is there for a reason
throw on one of the highly debloated roms in the dev section based off LE2 leak.
or go one further and put one of the aosp based roms on there and be gone with all the ATT and Samsung bloat

I don't like AOSP ROMs, I was using OnlyOne HYFR B4, and it still has those AT&T things in Wi-Fi settings, and carrier name on the status bar.
Actually they were not big deal but it had some kind of bug, when I try installing an app from APK file, I can click "Cancel" but I can't click "Install".
So, I will be staying on rooted stock Gingerbread ROM with the holoNote kernel and wait for official ICS from TELUS.
Wow that's rediculous.....

This kind of BS is why I almost got the Galaxy Nexus instead of the Note since Samsung is so ****ty at providing OS upgrades for anything that isn't a Nexus device (due to Google). Add the typical carrier delay on top of that..

I'm confused. Gnex already came with ICS loaded in Canada??? That's what the sales rep at Rogers were telling me. She also said G Note is getting its ICS update in March.
So did she lie to me twice?

Gnex is ICS out of the box.
@JamieD81, we're in the same boat with bricked N7000's. I bought another N7000 with a cracked screen just for the motherboard, since the only place to get N7000's fixed is in Europe. Plus I went thru 3 mainboards on my I9000M. I still buy Sammie's crap, but I'm being a little more careful about flashing roms now. I'm waiting until the official rom is released, and played with enough before I throw my i717 on the line this time.

Yes its ics out of box but 4.0.2 to 4.0.3/4 took/taking longer then Google's branded gnex
And I can't find any damaged n7000's to salvage :-(

Oh well not the worst thing in the world at least we have leaks but maybe on the 12th we could see if the s2 X official ics modem will work with our phone for better hspa speeds as I'm sure allot of people on Telus don't have LTE available
Edit: S2X ICS was released today ahead of schedule before an ATT or T-Mobile release, so the future is looking friendly (<-- see what I did there)
They updated the schedule !

the custom sense rom in the international thread have everything working for tmo h1. they include wifi calling also. if you dont have the 1.29 update you probably wont get it being htc is releasing 4.2 in the next few weeks

Indeed 4.1.2 and 1.27.531.7 is what we are stuck with....
Just called T-Mobile and the woman saw nothing about the updates in their system...
She said if you can download the update and apply it from HTC's website that would work, but rooting and using different software would break the warranty.

head on over to t-mo's forum and let them know you want your flagship top of the line phone updates available when they hit 2.0 / 4.2.2

The rep would not know anything except an update currently in the pipeline, that is, already heading our way. Only someone at Tmo corporate headquarters would know the strategic deployment strategy, and they do not talk. TMO tends to release updates later than other companies.
t-mobile tends to release updates not at all...
a few years ago my smartphone was updated for all carriers except t-mobile. everyone went up an android version while I did not.
who cares how much difference it makes... t-mobile is clearly lazier about updating than other companies and need a push to do so.

Well, for my Amaze 4G, they released the upgrade to ICS after about 5 months. And then very recently they did another upgrade, which would be almost a year later. But that first major update wasn't that late.
The way I look at it, if you're using these forums, you shouldn't have to wait for carrier updates. HTC did announce that an update is in the works.

hello,
I converted my tmobile htc one into a google play edition a few days ago and for the most part i have no complaints. however, a few days ago i noticed that i wasnt able to pick up an lte signal. I'm not sure what is going on here. I'm on the southern california area(riverside) is the lte down or something. it was working perfectly a few days after i converted my one to the GPe so i don't think this could be a problem. I was thinking of running an RUU back to stock to try and see but i dont know what to do. Any ideas??
Do you still have the T-Mobile radio, or is it now switched to the GP radio firmware?

did you convert your htc one to a GPe? i have done everything but a reset which i might do. it also might be the signal might be down in my area. i had this problem happen before earlier in the year with my note 2 i didn't have lte yet but i didn't have any hspa service for two days so it could be that but since i converted my one i hope its not something hardware related
Good question. Though I'd give a t-mo radio flash a try. It's easy enough to flash back.

The people on all forums about the VZW S4 are a very small number of VZW users. Almost all people will not get a new phone until their current plan is up. Therefore the S5 coming out is irrelevant to when KitKat is released. The majority of people will update to KK when it's pushed and most have never heard of it, let alone care.
VZW taking longer also means Samsung has worked out some bugs in their initial releases. Bloatware doesn't have much to do with it, IMO, most apps are tweaked to work with new software fairly quick.

This is getting annoying. 4.3 update fixed none of the issues or bugs really.... and then they make the flagship phone wait for kitkat.

VZW has been known to only care about the brand new phones. I had a HTC Droid Incredible 2 and at the time the Inc series was their flagship, but the Dinc2 was still 3g. ICS was getting put on everything and they had their lists out showing what would and wouldn't and our Dinc2's were on the confirmed list just never received nothing . VZW passed blame to HTC and of course HTC passed it right back to VZW. Then about 6 months or so later or so VZW comes out and says our old flagship isnt gettin ICS at all, stated communication errors with just that phone. Wouldnt even release source for it. Now if it was the 4g model, which was the Incredible S, we would've had ICS and source. I dont trust VZW as far as updates and they'll probably state same excuse and offer us a discounted S5 or a free upgrade to switch our plan totally and for us to pay more in about 4 months. If KK drops just be amazed if we get passed 4.4.2. this phone probably wont see 4.4.3

I just purchased my S5 yesterday (April 17th), but I regret selling my M8. I thought the S5 would have more dev support and more ROM's than M8, but I guess I was wrong. On the T-Mobile M8 Android Dev section there is a GPE ROM and a RUU to covert the M8 to stock android.
I was expecting like 5-10 ROMs on the S5 already (as was with the Note 3), but I guess I'm wrong? Or can I flash ROM's meant for the non T-Mobile S5?
That's my main question.
Where are the ROM's?
wow really?
Impatient much?
You do realize that this phone came out less then two weeks ago.
And I am sure that not that many people have jumped to this since there were so many people that develop that are already on the s4 and the s5 is not that much of a upgrade for them to switch.
Not to mention that the AT&T and Verizon cariants are not rootable yet and more developers are typically on those networks to begin with.
Give it a little more time for the others to get root and developers to move over and get used to the different setup and roms will come.

Well just saying the M8 has more ROM's and even stock android flashability (made that up )
Seriously though, there is a GPE ROM for M8 that allows you to flash back to stock still, and the RUU Google Play Edition, which essentially converts the M8 on T-Mobile (and other carriers) to a GPE version of the M8 permanately.

I haven't tried it, but I would assume it works fine as long as you keep the T-Mobile firmware. There is some discussion in the general thread about people running the international ROMs as well as in the international forums, look around. I think we'll start seeing custom ROMs built from the T-Mobile base sometime next week at the latest, I'm content with root for now.

I guess I'll make a Nandroid to be safe.

There are no gpe version of the s5 so that makes getting that much harder. And really only 3 roms for the m8. The stock, the gpe, and venom (modded stock).
Not a great amount there yet.
Just need a little more time.

I agree, but the M8 Android Dev thread still has more threads, when it had a locked bootloader! You can argue since its easy to unlock etc, but come on. I remember when the S4/Note 3 had dozens of ROM's in like 2 weeks.

I'm thinking of upgrading as well, but coming from carrier specific devices (the Samsung Infuse, ATT only, and the Nexus 4 on Simple Mobile), there hasn't been different variants. So the T-Mobile devices is compatible with ROMs built for the international variant? Would the kernels for it be compatible as well? The only thing that would be lost would be the carrier specific additions such as built-in VOIP? No differences in partition layout?

Just flashed the Echoe ROM for my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5, and I can confirm I'm NOT getting 4G LTE. I'm only getting HSPA+
Not sure if I need to add an APN or what, but wanted to let you know that 4G LTE does NOT work immediately after flashing that ROM.

It did flash? Wonderful! Please let me know if the issue with 4G is kernel/radio based, or just due to a missing/selected APN.
Many thanks in advance,

APN shows T-Mobile, so I believe its just a kernel/radio issue. It's up to you if flashing a custom ROM is worth no LTE.

You need to verify the T-Mobile APN. Maybe the settings are not for T-Mobile LTE. I had the same issues after my flash but I am on AT&T. Just make sure the APN settings match that of T-Mobile LTE. Carriers have more then one APN.

Did you flash International S5 ROM on ATT S5? Which ROM did you use? How is the experience? Is everything working?
Thanks in advance

I am currently using AllianceROM. It works great. No issues.
I seriously doubt that since there is no root for the AT&T variants
