[Q] Not enough room on internal storage for titanium backup - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need to backup all the apps and data before wiping my Kindle Fire HD. I have it rooted with Titanium Backup installed. The problem is the internal storage is nearly full. Most of the internal storage is being used by the /data folder on the root of the internal storage. I can't just plug it into the usb on my laptop and copy the data folder because it doesn't mount.
I can't run titanium backup because it can only backup to the SD card and the SD card only has a little of 1GB left.
Is there any other option for backing up all the data that exists on the device right now other than uninstalling apps? My intention is to install the latest CM after the backup but I want to make sure and get everything first. It's not my device.

Move the titanium backup to ext sd. Then search somewhere under menu, setting for the default folder automatic. By me android 4.4 the app found this folder on ext andbackup to there.

you can use link2sd app from market, remember you need an extra partition in your sd card
Is there any other way to move apps to ExSDcard?
Hoe can I partition a 64 GB ExtSdcard for proper apps installation and how can I mount both partitions
TITANIUM Backup Pro has an option of Moving apps to SD ( I have done it BUT I dont know WHERE it PUTS THEM because I DONT find them in the ExtSdcard)

Look at the big thread about the sd card. Its a known issue with the s3 that apps cannot be saved in the ext.sd at the moment.

Cwm app size is 3.6GB in internal memory?

Hi all,
I have succesfully rooted my phone using the toolkit by mskips
After that, i noticed that my internal memory is occupied by CWM (under miscelleanus) with size 3.6GB. Since this is too big, i want to ask:
- is this normal? This tool and custom roms size are only around 1GB
- can i safely delete the folder/file? How?
- if cant delete, can i move it to external sd card using such as data bind?
I remember that went to recovery mode n backup my app. Could this be the issue? I also chose backup to external memory though
I also backed my data using titanium backup, and it stores more than 1.5gb backup data. Can i move this to external sd card?
Edit: i checked clockworkmod folder using ES explorer and found there is a folder named "blops" which contained files with total size 3.6GB. Can i delete or move this folder?

External SD Card and storage problem

Hello Folks!
i just bought a 32gig micro sd card for my S3. inserted it, formated. everything goes well. but now i have problem. is there anyway to change the settings of touchwiz, so it downloads and installs all apps on the external sd ? and how do i change the backup location in titanium backup ? titanium backkups take up quite some space, so it would be great if they can be stored AUTOMATCALLY on the external SD. Btw S3 is rooted.
Thanks Guys
Titanium Backup
Go on menu, then Preferences
Then Backup Settings, Backup folder

For the first problem you have go to the mods section and search for internal sdcard to external sdcard..you will get a zip which will toggle the memories so that your internal memory will be shown as external and vice versa ..all the apps will then be stored on the external sdcard

Hi,
Since I have similar issues and more, I jump in with my own questions...
It seems that my ext sd card is only partially recognized. For instance, Rom Manager does not see it, so when I want to install a zip file from Rom Manager, it will only browse for the zip file within the internal as card. I can however browse through the ext sd card from Recovery.
I can also reach my zip file stored in the ext card with ES file explorer, click on it and open it with Rom Manager to install it straight away...
When I do a nandroid backup, I get a message during the backup process stating something like "no ext card found"
I'm just wondering how the ext sd card can be recognized in any situation? Could this relates to how I formatted it? I did a standard formatting with my Windows 7 PC, so it was fat32 (or fat).

I have the same problem with my Galaxy s, but my memory card isen't being used. Like cmd, pictures, backups all saves in the phone. My phone made the internmemory as the sdplace. How can i make everything be in my real sdcard and not in the internmemorysd?

Deleting unneeded files/folders

Question: I want to just erase all of the useless folders and files installed by apks, with the exception of my apk+data backups in titanium, & install a fresh ROM. I've deleted the obvious folders/files installed by apks, but there are some I'm iffy on, and i don't want to risk deleting anything important. Would wiping my internal storage in TWRP before flashing a ROM delete my titanium backups? Thanks!
Wiping internal storage in recovery would delete EVERYTHING that is stored on the internal memory (16GB) of your phone.
If your titanium backup folder is located on your internal storage, then yes wiping internal memory will delete that folder.

So is this something you only do before flashing RUU from bootloader, as your custom recovery is then deleted? Curious now
Why aren't you saving your titanium backups to the external sd card? Then you could safely wipe your internal sdcard using twrp and then reinstall what ever rom your running and start with a fresh phone with out all those left over files from old installs.

[Q] Moving Apps to SD card and formatting

Hello Seniors,
I have some questions (basic newbie) if someone can clarify
1. Moving apps to SD card on rooted phones means - apps will be moved to Internal SD (USB Storage) or External SD card? Howto find the path?
2. If I move apps to SD card, will those be purged while I make wipe data+wipe cache+dalvik+Format System procedure to flash a new ROM? Or it'll remain in SD and catch up back when the new ROM is in?? Big confusion
3. What does a Nandroid backup normally take? Would it keep ROM+ Apps in System Partition or just the ROM?
Apologies if questions sound weir, but hope some can throw sense on it

1 - for phones having intetnal sd- apps will be moved to internal sd..
for phones without internal sd - apps will be moved to external sd..
2 - if you do flash a new rom, all apps irrespective of whether they are on internal storage or internal sd will get deleted.. you need titanium backup to backup and restore apps+ data..
3 - nandroid backup means backing up your rom+ apps.. the backup is stored in sd card.. if you restore the backup, all your current apps would disappear and everything present in the nandroid backup will reappear
