yes because camera and gallery is the same app.
we should blacklist the certain activities, not the whole app.
for instance is that camera + gallery case.
Great Concept!
Something i was waiting for...
Really nice !! Working good on Nexus 5 4.4.4 my little cusin will be mad because he won't able to mess with my phone while he is gameing
So this basically is Child Mode implementation if WP8? Or restricted profile in Android tablets right?
Great work for parents >)
Great app
Hi,
This is a great app and is working well but I just wanted to report a slight bug... if in kids mode the homebutton on my Samsung Galaxy S5 is held down then Google Now launches. This isn't so much of an issue but if a search is performed then Chrome opens and the kids are able to get on the Internet and mess with bookmarks etc.
Thanks for your great work on this

Hello,
On devices before s5 , long clicking home button started recents.
Didn't know S5 does that.
I attached below another version that should've fix your issue, care to try please and report back ?

What is exactly happening ?
Is it reverting to home screen, recent screen or google search ?
Can you explain a bit more ?
Thanks for making this module! I was thinking that this is just what is needed using Xposed after looking into the parental controls that are in Amazon tablets, and things like the OLPC tablet, and Nabi.
I hope that this can grow into a full featured parental control app with usage time limits, and tracking of what apps are used most. Then no matter what android device I use can be safe from the kids messing up the device, or going where they shouldn't.
If the app usage tracking is added, it could serve much the same purpose as the OLPC tablet does in helping to see what your children are interested in. You could make available many different subject learning apps and see which your kids use most, and help encourage them to explore more deeply into that subject. All without having to report this information to some huge multinational company like google, amazon, or MS.
Thanks for the module! Has potential, however it isn't quite working on my Nexus 4 N5X ROM 4.4.4. I am able to add shortcuts and enable kids mode, but when I press the home key it takes me to my stock home screen not the kids mode home screen!

In an attempt at obfuscation I thought I'd start a thread in hopes of getting some collaboration for improving my favorite Android ROM-- CM6. Sure I could stick with AOSP for better universal support but who cares? CM6 offers what I consider the best experience and the available code far surpasses what we would need to reinvent on a stock base.
Lack of time and knowledge has me realizing it's best to try to bring the community together so we can work on adding features in a hopefully less 'throm' way. Seeing advancements devs can do like MIUI's lockscreen and interesting home screen improvements, features we enjoy from the CM6 nightlies, etc. is the motivation.
I'll post my work and ideas and I'm hoping people do the same.
List of ideas and projects I'd like to get going:
Notification bar scrollable settings
MIUI and the new Sense inspired idea but taken to a new level with custom activity support similar to Bettercut and ADW offer.

Universal Firefox-style Google search from long-pressing text
Long press text in a web page, email, text box and have a context menu to search the phrase on Google similar to Firefox. It's a Google OS, let's add it
Smooth screen rotation transitition
Intercept rotation and instead shift the screen rotation without redrawing to improve speed on low end devices and prevent onResume() potentially wiping current saved state in poorly coded apps
This is a think tank and I hope to spin it into a development thread. I'm open to ideas like a Home button in browser, etc. Let's make this easy, open source and available for integration in ROMs to make things better for everyone.

gibe sense widgets on cm6 pl0x?

The one thing I've always wanted fixed in Android (since 1.0) is Artist sorting in the music player. Currently the scanner incorrectly uses the Artist tags for combination albums and splits them all up (should use Album Artist; check how iTunes/WMP sorts this stuff); its terribly annoying and has needed to be fixed for ages.

My 2 Cents
Sense like copy /paste In browser
Getting that search drop down on xda to not dissapear when I try to type in eing
Getting the gmail app to auto call phone numbers when you touch it, sense does this
When searching In google, the suggestions come up, I would like to be able to scroll to one of the suggestions, and this auto fills the search box for you, like it does in a desktop browser
Cm has thought of almost everything I must say though!
Here's an idea i'd like to see. I dunno if it should be implemented in Android in general or CM.
If you pull down the notification bar, swiping left or right to get another page with some of your widgets... OR switch between open applications using that.

Guys, was eager to flash JB to my new phone and did, but in the process I lost stock apps I want such as:
Smart Stay (automatically recognises when you are looking at the phone)
S-Beam (Just put the backs of two Galaxy S III phones together, connect, share and enjoy)
Pop up Play (Picture-in-picture technology lets you watch an HD video in another window while sending an email or text simultaneously.)
Best Photo (It automatically takes a burst of 8 shots guaranteeing the best one every time)
Social Tag (Social Tag lets you link the faces in your photo album with their social media streams)
Direct Call (simply lift the phone to your ear and Direct Call will dial a number for you)
S-Voice (Talk to your phone)
Smart Alert (Get a brief vibrating nudge to inform you about missed calls and new messages)
AllShare Play (Remote access to documents and multimedia files when we work on a different screen)
Buddy Photo-share (The phone recognises faces and links those for you)
How can I get these back while staying on my JB AOPK Rom?
Thanks for any help!

Some stuff like S-memo will work, but the rest of the apps basically require touchwiz.

To get most of that you'll have to wait until Samsung releases their own horribly mangled version of JellyBean and wait for people to make custom roms based on the new Samsung firmwares.

spamcakes is right in this matter. Just wait for the Official Smasung Jelly Bean update and then choose a CustomRom.
Pure Jelly Bean is much better in design and performance on the SGS3. Samsung Stock sucks, because of tons of bloatware and Touchwiz may have become better than it was then, but today is not as good.

There are a few alternatives to do the same thing, the one I know:
Smart Stay - SmartStayEx or there's another I can't remember, I tried briefly and seemed to work.
Pop Up Play - Super Video on Market does it better, lets you resize etc
Direct Call - There's a few Tasker profiles/tasks floating around on XDA/forums of how to do it, may also be apps, not sure.
S-Voice - I think I managed to restore it from Titanium Backup to CM10 but I could be dreaming. Otherwise I found Google Now better anyway.
Smart Alert - Light Flow seems to have one to do it, haven't tried it though, otherwise again Tasker can do it
AllShare Play - Don't really know since I haven't bothered to use it but I use Splashtop for remote desktop and BubbleUPNP for DLNA playing, are they similar?
Hope that helps
Moboplayer is another alternative for Pop Up Play

Hi guys,
I did an article about the features I'd like to see built-in into Android here:
http://techcookies.net/top-10-features-id-like-to-see-built-in-into-android/
What do you think? Do I miss something?
Do you agree with my list?
Let's discuss!:
Up!
Are you just trying to divert some people to your personal blog to get more hits? XDA isn't a platform for advertisement.
Otherwise decent I guess, other than a few points not being "the norm" for most people (softkeys not on all phones, smart cover not needed on most phone but decent for tablets, screen rotation being just a 90 degrees rotation away).
I think the third party apps available fill the void quite well.

I'm trying to get some comments on my work.
Even if soft keys are not for all phones Google promote it a lot. All Nexus devices has soft keys.
I think smart cover is nice but maybe not really important. Screen rotation seems to me essential.
I don't want to have everytime to turn on and off the automatic rotation.
Anyway most of these features required root permissions and I think 99% of Android users don't even know what root is.
Do you agree?
the first one is actually built into 4.1.2, at least on samsung devices, just a fast swipe from the top and the statusbar appears

You could have copied your content here, anyway.
But no, I don't really agree. In the grand scheme of things, Google has to keep it pretty simple.
Per app rotation is complicated for the end user and furthermore some apps cannot be rotated because they weren't coded to be used in landscape/portrait.
As for the softkeys, there's more phones with dedicated physical keys than without. For the moment, I don't believe Google is pushing it much forward. If they wanted, they could make obligatory for OEMs to use software keys, but they haven't.
Theming is fun, but it's complicated and confuses the mass. That's why the theming without root is reserved to icons, wallpapers, sounds and such.
That's the beauty of Android though. Apps and mods to fill the gaps everywhere.
About soft keys maybe you are right : Google is not pushing that but it's teaching with Nexus devices.
The rotation can be implemented in the way it can take into account the apps manifest and allow users to do it when make sense.
Anyway this feature can be an advanced option.
Theming is probably the best one because actually you have to mess up with your phone to change battery icon or font. This features seems so basic to me.
What about screen recorder? Could it be nice to have like screenshoot?
If an app can do a work without root maybe it's fine but if it required root a lot of users will never have the possibility to use such a feature.

I present you FingerLock.
FingerLock is an Xposed module compatible with Note 4 which gives you the ability to protect your apps with the fingerprint.
FingerLock does not need to run background services. When you launch a locked app, FingerLock detects the event and asks for your fingerprint without impacting performances or battery.

1. nice catch! I have tried it and you are right! I will have a look at it for sure and the problem is that something is lost during the transition.
2. Yes, you are right and it is a sort of compromise between a running background service and something that is launched only when it is needed.
I'll try to explain you how FingerLock work.
When you open a locked app, the locked app calls FingerLock and kill itself. If you pass the fingerprint check, FingerLock will reopen the now unlocked app. So your feeling is not bad

I think it's better to have a solid base prior of building features that could potentially add new bugs

The concept of FingerLock is basically one. Being able of locking apps without having to constantly run a background service on your phone.
This is why FingerLock doesn't work without xposed.

There's an active work to port S6 firmware to our Note 4. It's called "GlamourROM" and it's made by the XDA user @henrylife
While the rom is working, there're actually some major bugs here and there:
1) Front camera doesn't work
2) Grid View in launcher
3) SMS crash while writing longer messages
4) Framework's missaligned layouts
5) S-Pen doesn't properly work/it's not enabled in settings
6) Lockscreen effects
7) Automatic brightness
You can see all the work here https://www.facebook.com/glamourrom Cheers

2) Grid View in launcher
3) SMS crash while writing longer messages
4) Framework's missaligned layouts
5) S-Pen doesn't properly work/it's not enabled in settings
6) Lockscreen effects
7) Automatic brightness
You can see all the work here https://www.facebook.com/glamourrom Cheers

The problem is 64bit libraries which are unable to initialize, I created the framework files from scratch, tons of class edit, with my Note 4 I'm not going to retry to hack kernel for 64-bit support, almost fully bricked mine, thanks to god that it managed to boot 3hrs later, it was in bricked-state already, if I can get another Note 4 for kernel hacking I would mess with it otherwise it's a big no...
All SPen support is in my ROM present, although with the Air Commander, it's not a ROM "port" it's a total recreation of the framework and hundreds of hours "test and trial", if I get Package update problems solved, a beta release will be uploaded...
Oh and btw Samsung totally cleaned the frameworks and apps from all the "Gimmicky" things, their listeners aren't there, that's a lot of manual implementing, but I will look into it when I'm done with the initial release of it, Cheers!

I said I can't risk with losing the phone, once I brick it it's gone and noone pays it back to me, sorry
@henrylife you made such an amazing work and put a lot of time of your personal life. Once you publish the Rom, I recommend you to put a Paypal donation button in your profile because you really deserve them. I don't have paypal and I dont have a proper age to donate but I know that a lot of people would donate to you without problem :good: .
What's the state of the rom right now?
