[Q] Best ROM - Battery wise?

Hi.. my first experience with S2 has not been great battery wise. I've found the battery life to be horrible. Even with all the battery saving features i.e. static background, widgets off, etc. etc., I have to charge the device twice a day. Its practically useless. I was thinking maybe there's some 3rd party ROM out there which would improve the battery life? I'm currently running stock 2.3.4. Any suggestions would be welcome..
try mikimod"s rom its really good for battery, and also sicopat<s rom< and modaco i find they are the best for longer battery
I've used VillianROM, Cognition, and CyanogenMod. I find that CyanogenMod gives the best battery, but your mileage may (or will, most likely) vary.

And you STILL do not know where to post? You have got to be kidding me. This belongs in GENERAL. Because I do not see how this is related to DEVELOPMENT.
Now that I have bashed your face in. I get 40-50 hours out of my phone. Try GREEN POWER from the market. It turns your data off when the screen are off. Also See my sig for what I run.
Hyperandoid1.3.2 with speedmodk2-1 gave me a battery life of over 2 days.

You will get mixed answers. People run different roms with different kernels. Some do a full discharge/charge before judging these kind of things, some don't. In the end the most important factor will be apps and usage.
Try what works best for you. And post in q/a section next time.

The best choice to make is on my signature.
Is not only the most battery wise, but also the most quick and the most smooth.

Best Rom So Fare.........
( SensatioN Rom 1.8 )
( Based on 2.3.5 XXK13 )
this is none wipe Rom.
Excellent review..
Try It..
Hope you'll Sensation Rom.
Before trying other roms/kernels check to see which apps are draining your battery so much, as for dual core phones the GS2 battery is really good, so in normal situations you shouldn't have to charge the battery twice a day.
I'm in Wanam 5.1 + siyah kernels and as many other users i get +2 days of battery.
@antiochasylum I've hardly had the need to post. In any case, any moderator can feel free to move this thread to General. @Sesshou about 57% is display. Rest of the entries are all negligible. Yet the batter evaporates..
Why no one mentioned MIUI ROMs..?
Are they not good in terms of battery life..?

4.4 unbeatable wakelock drain

Hey there,
Not really sure if I'm posting at the right place, but all the 4.4 ROMs for our device are just battery killers. I really don't want to switch back to older android because KitKat is just flying, but RILJ and PowerManagerService.WakeLocks are eating me alive. Both on ArchiDroid and temasek's CM11.0. Ain't a kernel related problem too since I've already tried several ones. Is anybody out there experiencing same nonsense running 4.4? 7000mAh battery gone in ONE day with 1 hrs of screen, sounds power efficient right?
Let me guess, your one of them nutters that overclock to 1.8ghz..
Oh and here's some harsh reality, 4.4 ain't ready for the S3 AOSP Just go back to touchwiz.. It may be a little slower but the battery is great and everything works.
You must be doing something seriously wrong if 7000mah is draining faster than my stock battery.. 2 days with 3 hours onscreen time on 4.3 MK6
As a fix, slap on Boeffla and turn everything down a bit

[Q] battery gone from 72% to 5% in 30sec -lagging-

Hey everyone
I got little problem here
So here is the situation it had happen 3 times this weak to me
When am using my phone (RR3 or facebook...) it freeze or lagged sometime,
That is natural to happen sometime
But in those 10 days when it lag it freeze for 30 sec/ 1 min
Then it restarts, but when it’s restarted the battery is gone, from 72% to 5% in, how is that possible ???? (pic 1)
And if I don’t put it in charge immediately it will just turn off after minutes!
_Still when I put it in charge and after like 20 min in charge I noticed that had already reached 80% just like if it had not started charging from 5% but from 60% !!! (pic 2)
_And sometime without any freeze or lag, it just turn off after showing that the battery is low 20%
So what is that?? A system / Hardware / or battery life problem??
I have this phone GS2 from 3 year now, and I’m using it like a geek
You could have a bad battery. When it drops to 5%, pull the battery before it fully boots. Wait 10 seconds, and put it back in, and then turn back on. Should help with the battery level indicator

Yes that's what I was just thinking about, considering that the life of the battery is normal if everything works fine. Well now I'm thinking that all what i need is to update from 4.0.2 to 4.2.2
So is there anyone like a best version of Android

Buddy, you haven't seen the real part of Android yet. Considering your battery issue, remove the battery and simply touch it in the middle. If the battery is swollen or bloated, then you need a new battery (3 years of usage make your battery weaker and subject to faster draining due to deformation of the cells inside the battery). In no doubt, Samsung's Touchwiz is THE main cause of lagging and drain, so here are my suggestions on ROMs that can fix your problem:
1- For 2.3 GB ROMs, go for CyanogenMod 7.2.0 with siyah kernel 2.6 (google the kernel name to find it or ask me for a link just in case)
2- For 4.0 ICS ROMs, go for CyanogenMod 9 stable on get.cm and go for Siyah 5.0.1 stable for more hardware customizing.
3- For 4.1 JB ROMs. well, you can grab CyanogenMod 10 or SlimBean 4.1 old release for the I9100 but I recommend skipping this version of Android (it's too boring)
4- For 4.2 JB ROMs, try Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 stable. if you love Touchwiz and want a stock experience, try Revolution Rom UX build 2 which is too close to an official 4.2 stock update. When it comes to me, SuperNexus 2.0 is the best 4.2.2 ROM I ever used. Flash Dorimanx 9.43 stable to get more out of your device just in case buddy.
5- For 4.3 JB ROMs, go for CyanogenMod 10.2, or SlimBean 4.3 build 2.2 stable (too awesome), or PAC-MAN ROM, or Carbon, Cyanfox...
6- For 4.4 KK ROMs, try out Cyanogenmod 11.0 nightlies or sanpshots, or go for OmniRom 4.4, or Cyanfox 4.4, or SlimKat, BeanStalk...
It's your choice, and I would recommend installing Dorimanx Kernel above the ROM you choose in order to configure your CPU clock speed and processor governers according to your kind of usage. Good luck :good:

Always happy to help fellow users
Well, the thing is CyanogenMod is no no doubt the best, but as for the 11.0 version, no full stable ROM is out there (at least not the tag), but sure-thing it is stable and getting better through every nightly. To get the daily nightlies which are somewhat experimental and buggy, visit get.cm/?device=i9100 and everything is there.
The nearest or at least more stable version of CyanogenMod 11 is the snapshot release (labeled "M") and it's there too. In case your Internet speed ain't too fast, download it through this torrent file I did (It's CyanogenMod 11 M4): http://burnbit.com/download/280529/cm_11_20140308_SNAPSHOT_M4_i9100_zip
Happy flashing :fingers-crossed:

[Q] Battery drain when it's less than 40%

Hi. I'm having a big problem with my Galaxy SII GT-I9100. It works normally till the battery percentage gets 40%. After that the phone starts to slow down, screen starts blinking, signal gets lost and at last it turns off. All these happen in a few seconds' time. These are what I did:
1.Changed battery 2 times
2.Calibrated battery with 3-4 apps from play market
3.Wiped everything that's possible. Tried using NeatROM, Revolution , Carbon roms.
4.Took phone to master and realized that he knows less than me.
After all these procedures anything has changed. Please help me solving this problem.
Back to stock to test, still problems ? Replace USB board/port; KeithRoss39 has a guide in General that has all the info you need in order to easily do this yourself (it's not stickied, search for 'replace USB charger board' or similar).
My battery was like that, but I did not have any other problem except battery drain when battery reaches %35, %40. It was draining very fast compared to %80 or %70. First, I bought a fake oem battery, but I thought it was original, seller deceived me, it was worse than dead original battery. Than I bought a real original one and problem is solved. Be careful about those oem ones.

Hello,
In order to exactly help you, I advise you to post your currently used firmware (stock Samsung Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jellybean), or if you're using custom OS (CyanogenMod, SlimRom, CyanFox, OmniRom... etc) but anyway, I'll try and help as much as possible. When I had my phone upgraded to stock 4.1.2, I had smooth performance and good battery life. However, after a while, the OS becomes laggy and I get a lot of overheating when the phone should simply go to deepsleep. Simply, I realized that the battery wasn't the problem, but rather, Samsung's TouchWiz was causing the problem. Having owned my phone for a year and 6 months, I get terrific battery life yet through using DorimanX Kernel which can customize your hardware settings to match your kind of usage. Using official SlimKat 3.0 Stable on Dorimanx 10.43v88, I can ger up to 4 days of battery with slight usage even when using Android Run-time. I would rather change the phone's OS instead of buying batteries in your case since changing the stock battery is only optimal in case the battery is bloated (becomes swelled/thickens in the middle). Good luck

I'm currently using Revolution ROM UX 2014 Build 2 Android 4.1.2. It has touchwiz interface, but I've also used Carbon Android 4.3 ROM which had this problem too. I don't believe Dorimanx kernel will fix this problem, but if you're sure about it, I can try.

It took me 5 months to realize that. After 3 months battery was not performing well at all and I understood that something is wrong with the battery. I looked very close to it, but it was still seeming like a original one. I put the original one and the fake one side to side, and I saw the difference. There are some small differences. You have to realize by yourself, because there are a lot of fake batteries.

If you're not sure on how to configure your CPU settings in STweaks, you wouldn't realize any difference, but I can help you with that. One day, I was an ordinary Android user on stock 4.0.4 and rooted my device just to get a game work better using a custom kernel (Siyah btw), and when I realized I could tweak CPU clock speeds and edit some values, I realized that Sammy ROMs are too crappy. At the end, that's what power saving option does, limits your CPU clock speed but still not too cool Anyway, no harm in grabbing a kernel and flashing but after reading your post again, it seems your battery is "hard-luck" one, better buy a new one if you really are facing issues unrelated to software

s2: drain problem!

ho to all i've bought an used s2 that has a problem with the battery. it drains very fast, even with al services disabled. i've bought a brand new samsung battery and also a non original battery with more mha, but the phone discharges always very fast. i'v try to recalibrate the battery with no results...i've last cyanogen rom on it
try change ROM or kernel
Wich rom and kernel do you suggest me
My suggestion:
1. check your battery stats and google fixes to apps that drain ur battery
2. install greenify
3. install custom roms, my suggestion: slimsaber + dorimanx
Whats dorimanx

Dorimanx is a kernel, not a rom.

Hi, I have got very same problem! I spent like last two years with trying different ROMs. I tried CM, Omega, NeatROM,... but never found one ROM which will not drain battery so quickly...
My girlfriend has got Alcatel OT6010 which has got similar specs as S2 and her phone lasts for 4 days! if she is not on internet all the time. Mine with new extended battery, lasts maximum 2 days max. I am really dissapointed about that
Therefore I would like to ask someone whether he/she can recommend some stable (not alpha or beta) ROM with Android 4.1 or above. Different Kernel is also welcome.
I am looking forward for any help on this!

Since you've tested many roms already, the problem could be caused by old circuitry on the phone. My phone last for 2 days max without using it too, although choosing the right kernel for you could slightly increase battery life (e.g dorimanx or apolo). In terms of stability, cyanogenmod is never perfect, don't use slimsaber, neat rom was quite stable for me, paranoid android was ok, never tried cyan fox, PAC rom isn't going to be updated for a while and is nightlies only, carbon rom is nightlies only. So yeah, just go with neat rom or paranoid android (stable)or cm11 (and wait for next snapshot).
Can i use paranoid with dorimanx?
I haven't had any problems so far with slim saber.
Have you tried the app 'Greenify' yet? It can hibernate apps that drain battery in background.
Another suggestion: Tasker app
Create profiles that for example turn on / off mobile data.
2 days battery life, that's epic for the s2..I get 1 day max at the mo ...and never had much more on any ROM/kernal
phantomEVO said:

Yeah you can. You just need to check what version of dorimanx you install.
There is one for ics/jelly bean and one for kitkat.
And depending on what version of s2 you have you need to check what rom you install. Not sure if dorimanx is available for i9100g
By the way in terms of battery drainage I faced the same problem.
For me it had several causes:
1. My mobile connection wasn't very good and therefore my phone got hot while searching good signal - I flashed a new modem to improve connection... If this won't help a new provider is needed I guess
2. Too many apps running in the background - as already said in a post above greenify will help there a lot as it prevents app from starting without you wanting it
3. Also I installed a new kernel - I'm using dorimanx too. It's battery profile can help a lot
4. Pure performances x (Zeno edition) my phone got a lot faster after flashing this. Also it drains less battery when being idle.
Hope this can help you.
