So my attempts to return my phone back to unrooted condition (odin stock rom back in) so I can OTA update from Jellybean to KitKat failed. I now tripped knox (I suppose who cares right?) and the rom wouldn't install and discovered I had to reinstall a PIT file to be able to boot again. I don't think I have a stock one because now when I try to OTA update it tells me it can't because it's been tampered with. Does anyone have the stock Sprint Note 3 PIT file for Android 4.3? I'm hoping after putting a stock PIT in there the OTA update will work? Or is it because I'm rooted?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I did do a search didn't find any stock PIT files on this forum. If I missed the thread apologies.
Just tried factory reset, no go =(.

Odin stock tar, factory data reset, take the ota or download the nc5d update zip and flash in stock recovery, if thats what you are after. Then root. ota wont take if system status is custom.

Thank you sir. Actually turns out I was loading the wrong stock ROM. The right one was here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50486348&postcount=45
Hopefully this helps someone else out that stumbles on to this. If you appear to have bricked your phone with the wrong ROM just reflash the PIT then try this one (I was Sprint Note 3 Android version 4.3).
I'm in the middle of an OTA update now =).

try using odin and flashing back to stock with the tar file from there you should be able to download the update.

that is how i unrooted, was by flashing the stock tar in odin, everythings back to 100% stock besides the phone letting me update it
i wouldnt
i wouldn't update because unfortunately like myself and others update causes you to loose your root, and rooting capabilities and locks the boot-loader. If you want the new baseband there is a link in development forum to flash via odin just baseband not the hole firmware. just my opinion tho.
i dont want to be rooted, i just want to be 100% stock again.

I am trying to do the same thing. I flashed back to stock using "VRUAMDK_NoWipe.tar.md5",it successfully flashed and it was unrooted. I then factory reset the phone. When I try to do the update (over the air) it says update failed.
My phone has a broken proximity sensor and I have to return it. I want it back to stock before I do. My thought is that it is not stock if it won't take the update.
Always getting either "Not authorized by Verizon" or "Upgrade encountered an issue"
Hey guys, hoping someone can help me out with what appears to be a soft brick on my phone.
Background
Bought phone in January 2013, immediately rooted and installed custom recovery. Phone stayed this way until yesterday, when I restored with ODIN and then installed all OTA's to prepare for a replacement under a Best Buy service plan, expecting it to work like it used to where I go into the store and drop off the phone, then a new one is sent to the store. I then installed all OTA's up to 4.4.2 (I think that one is ND7 but not sure as I was using AOSP-based ROMS while rooted). The ODIN restore brought me back to saying the firmware was all official.
Currently
Replacement process changed and I am stuck with this phone for another week while a replacement gets mailed to my home, so I decided to play around with ODIN to restore to MJ9 since most root methods seemed to work for MJ9, but I accidentally chose the LJB image that I had downloaded yesterday for the PDA in ODIN. When running this, it failed on sboot.bin.
I restarted the phone and it said "Firmware Upgrade encountered an issue" and tells me to connect it to Kies, which I tried, but for some reason Kies just runs on Connecting to Device and won't do anything else. I didn't spend a whole lot of time on that though, as it also changed the "System Status" to Custom while leaving Current Binary as Official, and from what I read Kies will refuse to do a recovery if anything is Custom.
I tried to install MJ9 through ODIN and it also fails at sboot.bin, resulting in the same message as above. I downloaded the alternate MC3 from this thread and it ran through ODIN fine since it does not have an sboot.bin, but it gives the error about the firmware not being authorized by Verizon and changes both Current Binary and System Status to Custom (I think MJ9 was the first locked bootloader, so I would assume that is why, but I don't know for sure). There was no alternate for MJ9 so I tried to make my own by extracting, removing sboot.bin, and then putting the rest of the files in a new tar file, but ODIN won't run it and gives an error about the MD5 not matching.
At this point the phone working is not so much of an issue since I already have a replacement on the way to my house, but I would prefer to fix this so a) I have a phone for the next few days, and b) so I don't have to go short something inside on purpose to hard-brick it and prevent them from refusing my replacement claim.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael
Once you updated the phone to factory stock 4.4.2, you permanently locked the bootloader and you can't downgrade to any other pre 4.4.2 ND7 firmwares. The easiest thing to do now would be to use Odin to restore the device back to to factory 4.4.2 stock firmware. There is GhettoRoot for 4.4.2 if you're wanting to root the device again on 4.4.2... and people are reporting that safestrap works as well for flashing 4.4.2 touchwiz roms. Good luck!
Ahh, I wasn't aware that ND7 couldn't be downgraded at all; I thought anything past MJ9 would work since that was when the bootloader became locked. I don't see any ND7 ODIN images available anywhere and Kies won't allow me to restore the device. Is there another method I should be using to restore? My wife has an i605 on 4.1.1 right now (same background as mine, just not bricked and no OTAs downloaded); if we updated until ND7 was downloaded but not installed, would I be able to pull the OTA from hers and flash in ODIN, or are they not ODIN-compatible?

Here's a link to the Verizon stock 4.4.2 firmware from Sammobile. You'll have to register, but the download should be free. You should be able to use Odin to restore the device with this firmware file and the pit file from Droidstyle's restore guide. If Odin 3.07 doesn't work, try Odin 3.09 from Sammobile... or try Odin 3.10, which I've been using lately with no problems.
Thanks for that link, I was able to download and restore my phone with the ND7 download. I wasn't aware that SamMobile keeps a firmware database, so I also appreciate that piece of info.
Thanks,
Michael

If you haven't found it yet, Droidstyle's guide should help you restore your phone. You can find the guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34891181
Depending on what firmware version you were on (4.1.2, 4.3, or 4.4.2) you will want to restore the phone back to that firmware version that you were on. If you were on 4.4.2... then you can't downgrade down to 4.3 or any earlier firmware versions. Same goes for 4.3..can't downgrade to earlier builds. There are bootloader security measures in place that prevent downgrading.
I think Droidstyle's 4.1.2 firmware link is down.... so you can get 4.1.2 from XDA developer imnuts thread (under VRAMC3/Mirror 2) at this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35265728.
You can also get all the firmware files at Sammobile by clicking on this hyperlink HERE.
Hope this helps.
im on the nd7 firmware currently im thinking its the newest out so which one can i down grade to?

Unfortunately... if you are on ND7, then you cannot downgrade... it will fail in Odin every time because of bootloader security measures that prevent reverting back to earlier firmware versions.
If you were on 4.4.2, then you can download the firmware for 4.4.2 ND7 from Sammobile and use Droidstyle's Restore guide to flash the 4.4.2 firmware (including the step of flashing the pit file). His guide should still work to help you restore the phone.
After the ODIN flash is complete and you see a pass message in Odin, then power the phone off and boot the phone back up into stock recovery. Then do a factory reset to make sure your getting everything wiped... as I don't believe Odin wipes everything thoroughly.
After an unsuccessful flash of Xposed Framework with Chainfire's FlashFire Beta, my device wouldn't boot past the AT&T logo. I attempted to flash NB1 stock firmware using Odin from OC4, but I have the same issue.
Specifics
Device - Samsung Galaxy S4 AT&T (jflteatt)
Firmware - NB1 Stock I think, KNOX flag is untripped but download says I have custom Android version. Tried flashing with Odin and got reset/pass. KNOX flag was tripped before, I read its an eFuse so I'm confused
Should I try flashing again or what... I'd like a quick answer as I currently have no phone. Mod feel free to move this if its in the wrong forum. If you need more information just let me know
Samsung devices are know to have issue with xposed. They made changes to the art runtime and last I heard xposed has not fixed it yet.
So if I want Xposesd I should stay on KitKat
How can I get my device working... I've tried what other threads suggested (cache wipe, factory reset, battery pull for thirty seconds). Should I try the stock image again with Odin or try Kies?

xposed works fine on lollipop, but you have to use wanams version of the framework for tw
OK, thanks for the advice. FlashFire can run with a locked bootloader, right?
Also, I still can't figure out how to get my phone booting again I would greatly appreciate advice on how to get past the at&t logo
EDIT
My bootloader is locked so I can only flash with Odin and stock recovery. Took the AT&T OTA before I knew what I was doing.
I found the solution! I was trying to flash a MBL stock AIO with Odin, but after I took an OTA from AT&T a while back, they locked downgrading that far because it's vulnerable to Loki. I found a thread on another forums that stated the firmware was mislabeled. I feel lucky, could have hard bricked it! I managed to install a (proper) deodexed NB1 firmware, rooted it with Towelroot, and upgraded to Lollipop through a FlashFire flash. I was able to install Xposed successfully. Thanks for all the help! It's greatly appreciated!
Flashed stock Lollipop 5.1.1 ROM using ODIN, Device binary & status are CUSTOM? Help!
Hey guys! First time poster!
A few months back, I tried using CF-Auto root in order to gain root access on my phone, but I flashed something incorrectly and I was never able to get root working correctly. I know because of this, I tripped KNOX, and whenever I rebooted, there was a "Set Warranty Bit: Kernel" at the top of the device.
Due to the recent Marshmallow 6.0.1 upgrade, I want to unroot and get stock firmware, so I decided to do some research and go ahead and try to flash the stock G900T 5.1.1 FOJ4 firmware (tar.md5 file), so I can get my ability to update my phone via OTA updates. I looked up my matching firmware (FOJ4) through Android File Host and then unzipped it to my desktop.
I followed a guide and used ODIN 3.10.7 to flash the stock firmware file onto my phone. I also wiped cache/ factory reset before and after flashing the stock image.
Everything went well and I no longer see the "Set Warranty Bit: Kernel" when I boot. The problem I have is that when I go into download mode, the CURRENT BINARY and SYSTEM STATUS are both CUSTOM.
I was under the impression as long as you flash a stock firmware to your device, you will unroot and your device will be official, and then you'll be able to do OTA updates. Maybe its because I have KNOX tripped? Maybe can someone clarify that for me?
My main questions/concerns are:
1.) Is there anyway to make my device status/binary as OFFICIAL, in order to regain OTA updates?
2.) If I want to download the 6.0.1 Marshmallow update, should I just try through KIES or downloading the tar.md5 file to flashing via ODIN like I did with stock?
3.) Will there be any risk of bricking since my device is still "custom", if I go the above route?
4.) As a last ditch effort, should I just try downloading a different stock Lollipop firmware, and try flashing with ODIN again?
5.) What does this sub think of Marshmallow 6.0.1 update? Is it worth it?
Thank you guys in advance! Hope you have an awesome day!
@Root_S5_Please
#2 with Odin will work and is the correct way to go, #3 will not happen as long as you use Odin, you can't untrip Knox but that's OK since it doesn't have any effect on functionality. #4 is unnecessary and won't do anything to help. Someone else will have to answer #5, I Odined the update and immediately went back to CM13
