I've searched many places to find help, but no matter where I go I can't seem to get my phone to read sd cards! I've tried my 8gb and 2gb but none of them work and it always says:
"Removed SD Card
SD card removed. Insert a new one"
I've also done the factory settings thing to no avail. Any help?
Sounds like either drivers or the hardware itself. I'd try flashing to a standard Tom, retrying, if still no joy it'll likely be a trip to a service centre, they'll replace the card reading chip itself
Problem is, how do I flash a rom when I have no memory card?
I assumed the flashtool writes direct, I'm sure I performed one change (whilst dicking around with various base bands) without the SD card present. Though I could be mistaken. Have you tried SEUS sand the repair option?
It won't let me connect to the computer without an SD card, sadly. I've heard about the SEUS method but I have no idea how to perform this??
It's Sony Ericssons Update Service, though it sounds as though you may need an SD card as well then. You can download it from their website. Install on PC then follow the instructions and itvwill take you back to a stock firmware. If it says you already have latest, then click, the repair option. Have you tried connecting in flash mode. Turn phone off, hold back button then connect USB when prompted by software, either the rom flasher Seus?

is that it?
Thats the one, download to your PC, run the program, make sure your phone battery is charged, then follow instructions
This is for all of you who have the "NO SERVICE" message when you insert your micro sim card.
IN THE FOLLOWING STEPS REBOOT IS A MUST
Step 1. Remove the sim and try it on another phone.
Step 2. If it works then check the sim contactors inside the phone (check if the pins are bent enough to touch the sim card).
Re-insert the sim and reboot. DO NOT USE AIRPLANE MODE.
IF IT WORKS STOP HERE
Step 3. If it doesn't work then go get yourself a sim replacement (preferably 128k). I got a regular sim and cut it down to size (worked flawlessly).
Re-insert the sim and reboot. DO NOT USE AIRPLANE MODE.
IF IT WORKS STOP HERE
Step 4. Get your phone checked up or replaced (lot of defective phone floating around).
Hi everyone,
after 1 year expericing with evo 3d everything is ok,
but in the last month some problems are killing me.
1- when i put the usb connection to download image, after i get sd error and cant see any images from gallery. (files are visible with android assistan, visible after rebooting, tried different cables, different sd, the system doesnt sees anymore images of applications, maybe some refresh problem?)
2- when i turn off the screen and connected to wifi or datamobile, both turn off till i turn on the screen, its a very annoying problem...
3- also the music application cant find my mp3 folder with music.
4- when i open gmail at first it says "no data connection", even if i'm connected, and clicking refresh works. (but i have to click everytime!!!,,,,
5- today i got also a strange grey icon of the battery with an ? on it, first time ever seen it.
other miscellanea information:
the phone is all original, i'm using apex launcher instead of sense, there is a lot of free space on sd, the phone never fell on the floor, nor in the water. camera is working great and all other function, no lag in applications,,
i hope some of you great xda master can help me finding a solution,
thanks to all.

ps. does exist an application that cancel all unused application files in the sdcard? thanks again.
1 and 3 sound like a bad sd card or card reader in the phone. The rest sound like an OS bug, which a factory reset should hopefully clear up.

Well, normally when you connect the USB cable and choose to connect the USB storage then the SD card becomes unavailable to the phone but the computer can then access it. Both the computer and the phone cannot access the SD card at the same time... I will spare you the technical reasons but you should know that this is normal. After you are done copying files with the computer then you must turn off this USB storage mode so the phone can access the SD card again and then it will see all your music and pictures again (all these are stored on your card by default).
This should all be fixed OK by a reboot of the phone though in any case. Are you sure you rebooted the phone completely? maybe you should try to remove the battery once?
If you've done all that then you can try to repair the SD card by taking it out of the phone and using micro sd to SDHC adapter and inserting it directly into a computer then using windows to run a chkdsk on it.
hi,
i've done all you said properly, you know the problem came out because there was a differente behavior than in the past.
i remove securely the phone from pc and then is not accessible,
i didn't tried to chdsk the sdcard i'll try, but it sounded strange to me because its brand new.
i also tried to contact htc , they said " try to reboot, or try to remove the battery and the sd and start the phone again, the problem wasnt gone.
thanks for the advice.

Well if it's just gotten corrupted then you can just reformat the sd card. You'll want to backup all your data first so if you can't do that from the USB connection to the PC then you'll need to insert it directly into a pc. Once you've formatted it you can put your backed up data back on the card and put it back in the phone and after a while it will find your mp3s again. If it's truly a bad sd card then the reformat won't help.
Do you have another sdcard? The one that came with the phone or any other? Try putting some mp3s and photos on it and then put that in your phone. If your phone recognizes the photos and mp3s then maybe your current sdcard is the problem. And can you tell the the format of your sdcard? Is it NTFS or exFAT or FAT32? If it is UHS-1 card there is a good chance that it is in exFAT. To make it work on Evo 3d, convert it to FAT32 .

Is there any way to prevent Xperia U to restart after sim card has been removed/inserted because this is very annoying although it has a hot-swappable sim-slot. I have seen that the restart is not required as the new sim is detected automatically when inserted & pin code is asked if required. But then the phone restarts.
AFAIK, no such thing as hot-swappable SIM card for Android phones. Some drivers need to be reloaded, gapps won't work if it doesn't restart, etc. Even dumb phones need to restart. The only time I hear this working is if the phone is dual-SIM, where you only swap out SIM2.
My Huawei P20 Pro fell on the floor and the screen broke. The new screen arrived and I'm having a problem now. When I turn on the phone EMUI eRecovery appears and it says "Data partition severely corrupted. To reset your device, please format the data partition." I have the options to shutdown or format data partition. When I try to format data partition the phone gives me an error. Since the phone doesn't have a microsd card slot I tired using a a usb thing that holds the microsd card and an otg cable to connect everything so I can update the phone but that didn't work, I also tried formatting the microsd card in exFAT but that also didn't work. I tried connecting the phone to my pc a couple of times and it only worked once (the phone can charge just fine) and when I tried looking what the phone has on it with file explorer there was literally nothing on it and I couldn't move anything in it.
