[Q] Android L (Android 5.0) - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Everyone!
I've googled a little bit about Android 5.0 and found several informations, like this:
http://developer.android.com/preview/setup-sdk.html
But it's only for N5 and N7, is it generally possible to port something like this to any other devices, like the SGS2 maybe (how unexpected)?
Thanks in advance

Android Porting how-to?

Hi There,
Could you please kindly point me any how-to or tutorial which describes how to porting Android to NIKE? I am new to Android porting and I just bought a HTC Dual this morning. I wanna play it a little bit with Android. Many thanks. Also, if there is no such a how-to or tutorial, I'm gonna do one after I could manage to port Android to my Dual, to help others.
Bests,
WQH

I really went through the threads here very much and found several topics which are quite difficult now for me start the porting. Maybe I didn't go far enough in the threads. Anyway, I will try it again.

[HELP]Ports Ice cream Sandwich apps

Hi guys!
I have a question, I make roms for the LG Optimus 3D device, and let me know if you could carry aPKs ICS to Gingerbread, or is so hard it's not worth it.
Since I have searched and searched and nothing, so if anyone has done it I would like to guide me.
Thank you very much
P.D: If anyone is encouraged to port it too, here I leave:

OK well you wont be able to do a direct port, what it will require is using the Android compatibility libraries to replace the new API functionality (which GB doesn't have) The other option is to port the system.apk over (but i have no idea how one would do that)
This should all be pretty obvious to and Android developer though....
Questions should be asked in Q&A forums, not Development forums.

[Q] Are Themes phone specific?

Well I've been googling around for awhile now, and I can't find an answer for this simple query. I am planning to buy a GN2 (AT&T) and I am new to android in general. So, as the title says, are the themes on this site Android specific? I'm thinking that some themes are rom specific, such as cm9, aokp, etc; but I'm not even sure on that.
Thanks for any helpful replies or links.

Android 5.0 on Google Nexus 5 - Newbie questions / support

Hello everyone,
At first, as a new member, let me congratulate you for this amazing forum and the community that is built around it. A lot of useful and interesting stuff can be found here, and I know that it takes a lot of hard work to boost and maintain a forum to this high-quality level, create a community and share knowledge, so thank you for that and keep up the good work.
To get to the point, I recently became the owner of a Google Nexus 5 and 3 days ago I upgraded the preinstalled Android 4.4 to Android 5.0. Before that, I used a Nokia N900 phone with Maemo 5 and ArchLinux (desktop Linux Distribution), and this Nexus became my introduction to the Android operating system for the first time.
So as a newbie to Android, I want to ask toy a few questions on how to make some things done.
While I had my Android rooted before, after the upgrade it probably needs rooting again, so I'd be grateful if someone points out a link to a tutorial that describes this process. I also need to install an anti-theft application, and from what I've seen, Cerberus just does what I want, but I need to install it in a way that even if someone restored the phone to its default settings or even format it, the application woud stay in place. From what I've read, it is possible, right? I don't know how, maybe it has something to do with the ROM, which brings me to my next question. Custom ROMs, what are they? How do they get installed and which one do you suggest for Nexus 5?
As for now, those are my questions. I know that I could use Google to find out more about those stuff, but I really want to learn how they work, not just how to accomplish them, and all my searches in Google result in different ways to achieve the same thing, a fact that confuses me instead of teaching me stuff. That's why I ask here.
So, if anyone could point out some links or explain to me how to do the things I want, I'd be very grateful.
Also, besides all those things, any suggestions you might have of any nature, I'd be glad to hear them and they'll be much appreciated!
Than you very much in advance. I appologize to the forum and its moderators if I posted this in a wrong category or broke any rule. I assure you that if I did, it was not intetional.
Best regards,
Elias
Should I post this over to the Google Nexus 5 forums?
[SOLVED]
Ok, after a lot of reading, I finally understood the whole concept of ROMs and Recovery.
For anyone having trouble with his first steps on those issues as well, the following links would be very useful:

Need help with an... Interesting problem

Okay so before any mod deletes this, please. Read this post.
So, my brother recently picked up an iPhone 8 Plus. It looked genuine, but once I reset it to try and fix some problems with it, the issues became apparent.
The phone is NOT an iPhone... It is some sort of android Kitkat- based device that looks like an iPhone, and apparently even has iOS 11 on it...
Is it at all possible for me to install marshmallow on it? Because I want to get it working for him...
Any help is appreciated.
