Resetting Battery Stats - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

Is there any way to reset battery stats manually.
I swapped the battery from my wife's phone into mine. Both had nice (read as similar) life in phones. But after I swapped from my wife's, her battery seems to be draining faster in mine. Mine is good in her's though. So I felt maybe my guage is messed up.
I'm on TMo S5 with custom ROM. She's on AT&T S5 rooted.

Since your phone has been rooted, you can do the following:
- Install Shortcut Master app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.shortcutmaster.lite
- Go to menu 'Secret Code Explorer'.
- Scroll down to the code 02288 (BatteryStatusEng), tap and select 'Launch 0' to launch it. You may need to grant root permission for it.
- Tap the Button 'Quick Start' to reset battery stats.

Delete the batterystats.bin file. Or use an app that does it for you e.g. Battery Calibration
.

Battery stats should reset on their own once the phone charges up to 100% (green LED or "charged" on the lock screen).

Headsup:
I reset the guage, and ran a full discharge n full charge cycle. Looks like everything is back on track now.

[Q] Problem with Battery

Just now 100% charging is completed and got the Beep but after unplugging the charger it showed 96% this is the 5th time I am getting like this..Any idea how to fix it? thought it is FW bug and changed to KI8 from KI3 still same
EDIT: Now I am rooted and did wipe battery stats still same problem
Do you have CWM? My battery went mad two days ago. All I needed to do was clearing the battery stats via CWM.

Even more interesting. If you phone freezes and you need to do a cold reboot (hold power until reboot) the battery level can drop like 20 or even up to 50% at a time. (it then slowly increases by itself).

Helped increase my battery life, others with the same problem as you said it worked too, good luck!

I don't know if the stock recovery has this option, so you should check it. If it doesn't, you could consider rooting your phone.
It worked for me, after my battery went crazy. It dropped from 100% down to 86% in 5 seconds. And when I checked the stats in the menu, I saw three lines if which one made an upside down looping. The first moment I was like "wtf?".
But if you don't want to, you should go have your phone repaired/replaced.

Ón my side it worked only with this steps:
1. Charge over night
2. run the app battery calibrator
3. unplug charger
4. drain battery all the way down till it shuts off
In this way yout phone can remember what is 100 % and what is 0%
PS: You need root permissions
I have asked Samsung Support on twitter about my problem they said: The device is fully charged, however, this is done to prevent overcharging which stresses the battery.

I usually have the same problem, but only when my phone locks up and has to hard reboot. I've never selected reboot and it's done that... odd...
Theres many threads about this, and our batteries do NOT need calibration. It's based off of battery voltage, and during intensive tasks (like booting) the battery voltage takes a drop which the fuel gauge reads from, which is why you can see your percentage going up for a bit, then going back down.
It's more apparent at lower battery levels. With that much screen time and usage, I'm not suprised it dropped that much.
Just a battery glitch, nothing to be alarmed about. You'll see that it will stay at the reboot level or even rise after it realizes the real level.
Calibration doesn't do anything for these phones either.
I agree. I have been having this problem. I tried battery calibration but it doesn't help. So now I just live with it, I just avoid rebooting my phone.
I also would be glad if someone comes up with a solution to this problem.
I think I have tried about everything discussed in the xda forums, but nothing helps.

If you need to reboot and your battery is below 75% connect it to a charger to avoid this.
It isn't something you can fix, search there is a few threads/posts about it.
Main post you should pay attention to...

It can't be changed without hardware alterations.
As with anything in engineering, there are tradeoffs. The positive aspect of this fuel gauge design is that it does not require ANY calibration. No wiping battery stats, no "always flash firmware at 100%" - none of that.
The negative is that in a few corner cases, it gets thrown off temporarily. This is basically the only known one.

This "problem" is a function of the device hardware. The only way to get rid of it is to smash your phone with a hammer.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA App
This really needs to go in the FAQ. You're not magically losing battery, just the estimate is dropping.
It only happens when there is heavy load (such as booting) right after a fuel gauge reset (such as a reboot).
So, either:
1) Don't reboot on battery <60% or so
2) Reboot while on a charger if you do reboot with low battery
3) Live with it, it'll resolve itself in an hour or two
It's a tradeoff - we have ONE corner case where the fuel gauge gets thrown off, in exchange for NEVER having to perform any battery calibration voodoo black magic. The fuel gauge will always converge towards truth, while other gauges will diverge over time, requiring periodic calibration cycles.
ohh, I didn't know we didn't need battery calibration, thanks for the information!

Is my battery damaged, or something else??

Seriously what is wrong with my cell?? I can not leave it idle/ put it to sleep! Whenever i do so, the battery meter drops to 0 and i can't even switch it on, without plugging in the charger and charging it for 5 minutes, after which the battery shoots to 100. Without letting it go idle, however, i can use it for 2-3 hours non-stop, during which it heats up a lot. Is the battery faulty, or something wrong with the cell itself?
I've tried changing the rom (stock to CM) but to no avail (nothing wrong with the rom)

Try resetting battery stats (that doesn't seem like it's the problem, as well as formatting system, wiping data, wiping cache, dalvic, voltage options (if you've even messed with those), and then booting up the phone once, turning it off, take the battery out for a couple minutes, put battery in (keep phone off), charge for 15-30 minutes, turn on, and see how everything looks then. If it seems to have resolved the problem, I suggest just turning your phone back off and charging it the rest of the way. If what I said above does not work, then your battery is probably ****ed, or possibly your phones battery connectivity port (idk too much about that). Since the problem persists on both stock and CM I'd say it's very likely to be your battery. Try buying a new OEM battery if what I said does not work. They're usually 30-45. You can buy cheapo ones too (probably won't damage your phone like others say - enough to care), but expect them to be a lot less efficient/weaker.

That's is very weird.
I don't want to conclude that your battery is faulty.
I think the reading is anyway inaccurate.
Try the following:
-We need to check the battery health.
-Dial *#*#4636#*#* on your phone
-select battery information
-tell me what you see under battery health

I think he mentioned he'd already tried that. Considering his battery health and everything seems to be fine, I'm wondering if it's somehow the transfer between battery and phone, though it seems very unlikely. I'm sure he'll post once he tries the new OEM battery

[Q] System Settings->Battery: Only shows 'Android OS'

Hi,
I flashed the latest Wanam ROM and latest Siyah kernel.
Flashed with 3 wipes, I know the drill still have the SGS2.
When I go to 'System Settings -> Battery' it only shows 'Android OS' up time.
The graph seems to be working well but there is no 'Screen time' or any of the apps I used or even "Call", just Android OS.
I tried 'Fix Permission' via recovery but it has no effect.
Looking for a solution.
Thank you.

CWM recovery - advanced - wipe battery stats. Problem solved.
After that i suggest u to discarge the battery till the shut down, charge it continously until 100%, disconnect and reconnect the charger plug until it stops again to charge, wipe again the battery stats and ur battery is calibrated again. Enjoy it.
The stats are wiped whenever the phone reaches 90% charge and have nothing to do with battery calibration. That's an urban legend Google dispelled a long time ago.
Could you try betterbatterystats and see if it can see anything (it partially uses the same stats file)? If so, then the app for reporting is somehow damaged

wipe battery stats from CWM is the only way I found to solve the problem in the battery settings, it happened to me few hrs ago. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32307574&postcount=25609).
About the the fact of battery calibration I do it once per month and I can see the difference in daily battery life, so I'm used to suggest it.
Can pls you post the link of the source where Google explained the uselessness of this action?

mm well... so why we got that strange issue? should solve it with a full chage so..
I noticed an audio wakelock. Try to adjust the volume for notifications and ringer (just switch it back and forth a couple times). You should notice a decrease in battery usage.
I had a similar issue while using siyah kernel. Battery monitor widget was recording all kinds of nonsense. I put it down to a jelly bean bug but haven't experienced it again since moving back to Perseus. It may be kernel related but I don't really see how. I also did a few other things sich as wiping caches and fixing permissions so I can't really say what fixed it.

Battery Drain Issue -- RESOLVED

I was having hell lot of Problem with Battery backup (using SamHD V3.2), tried using Calibration but didnt work.
Then I after searching/surfing the Internet, used a custom Method as mention below :
1. Charge your Phone to 100%
2. Download "ROM TOOLBOX Lite" from Play Store.
3. Go to ROM Management -- Wipe Option -- Click Wipe Battery Stats (DO NOT tick any other options other than wipe battery stats)
4. It will ask for Reboot, do it.
5. Then charge the phone to 100%
6. Calibrate the phone using Battery Calibration & then start using the phone.

actually, you people are under illusion that deleting batterystats.bin file would resolve the battery problem. lol if your battery is in good condition, android would automatically show the right percentage when you let it charge for a few hours and then drain it. if not, you need to buy a new battery. know that the lifetime of micromax battery is only 1 year and it won't last more than that.
