i recently rooted my verizon lg enact and installed rom manager i go to install clockwork recovery and it gives me a list of versions which version do i need for my phone?
I'm not sure. Chances are it has a locked bootloader, so you won't be able to install a custom recovery. How did you root it?
I am also curious, what ROOT method did you use?

I keep getting these messages when I try to use Rom Manager. Screenshots provided. I need to know how to get ROM manager to work on my phone so I can boot into recovery and flash backup roms and stuff. How do I install a clockworkmod based recovery manually? Does my bootloader need to be unlocked is there an easier method to unlock bootloaders for lg l9 p769? [/ATTACH]
You can't get CWM recovery with ROM manager,
Use this---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095825
It's made for our phones
sent from my locked rooted P769 v20D

Didn't work for my rooted P76920d
I'm guessing I have to flash a .kdz that has recovery already on it?
You never really specify which correct busybox you have to have installed anyway, I think that may be it. What busybox do I install? Smart or nonsmart?

Honestly you shouldn't even have ROM manager unless you have an unlocked boot loader and its useless for our phones also if you want to install a recovery without unlocked boot loader try artas bootstrap and if you have unlocked flash the cwm or twrp image

I stopped using ROM manager, it was always useful for other phones but not this one.
At first I installed artas recovery. It didn't work, no flashing LED. Then I installed a different busybox. Now I get LEDs but when I press volume down button it stays stuck in the LG logo and I have to reboot. So I still don't have recovery with artas after switching busyboxes but LEDs flash so that's a start.
I'm just going to try to unlock the bootloader, I need recovery to work.
EDIT: Nevermind, I was using 1.3 version so I deleted the sys files and upgraded to 1.5. fixed, thanks.
Hello everyone.
I have installed CWM by artas182x for locked BL because somehow I couldn't install fastboot drivers.
However, I can't seem to flash latest official CM because of too old version of CWM.
Now, my question is if it's possible to install latest CWM for our phone which is downloaded from official CWM site in .img form via flashify app on the phone? Is it safe and are there any problems possible to encounter?

don't try to flash CM if your bootloader is locked, you'll 100% brick your phone. If you have a locked bootloader you can install only stock based roms...
Sorry about the newbie questions but this is my first HTC. In order to flash the Xposed installer does the bootloader need to be unlocked or is rooting the phone enough?
Also, once the phone is rooted can I flash the Xposed installer using the stock recovery or do I need to use a custom recovery? Thanks.
Device needs root and the Xposed can be install from custom recovery or apk installation. Stock recovery can't flash custom rom or basically anything other then stock ota.

Thanks. So can I root using TowelRoot or one of the other methods without unlocking the bootloader or is unlocking the bootloader necessary before I root?
Depends on hboot version. If you have newer hboot, weaksauce will temp root & firewater will soft. Older version needs romrunner. Guide out there
Hi Guys
Just got a used VZW G3, it currently has software version VS98512B. I am confused if I need to restore it to an earlier version or if there is a way to root and flash the latest recovery to start flashing a debloated rom?
I know the previous owner had rooted before and the recovery does say modified but I think it is all the stock recovery now as I could not get into TWRP or anything.
What should I be doing to avoid bricking lol
It does tell me a software update is available but I keep canceling
Thanks
Check with app root checker and if not rooted then use king root for rooting and flashify for latest recovery TWRP 2.8.7.0
I've done a lot of research about custom ROMs and recoveries on Samsung phones and I'm coming here to confirm what I've found.
There is no way for me to flash twrp on my Verizon SCH-I545 Galaxy S4 even though it's rooted and I have twrp manager installed.
Rashr says "partition flash successful" when I flash twrp recovery, but then when I when I reboot it says Odin error. So I'm guessing rashr cannot help me either.
I also can't make a nandroid backup because I can't flash twrp. And I can't use Android SDK Studio to unlock the bootloader because then it would brick my phone.
Is there any known reliable way of unlocking my S4? If not, I wouldn't be surprised.
Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately not. After the 4.2.2 MDK update, the bootloader was locked down and there was no longer a way to downgrade to that update or unlock the bootloader. So you'll see recent roms for it, but they are only for the people who managed to root and stop the official updates and updated manually instead.
