Hey All,
My phone is pretty much stock, (close to) latest HBOOT/Radios/OTA (ICS), although I have flashed whatever version of TWRP was around way back when the latest OTA came about and rooted it.
Anyway, I've got a peculiar thing happening that I only just discovered: When I pair and connect my phone's bluetooth radio with the audio system in my car (the car is a recent addition to the family), I can't get the phone app audio to work properly over the car's audio system.
One possible clue is that I do use PowerAmp to play music over BT, and it works fine. When I dial the phone and press send, as soon as dialing ensues, music is interrupted, the phone number I'm dialing shows in the radio's screen, but audio goes completely silent. I have to manually change the phone app's sound from BT to speaker to continue with phone calls.
Have any of your experts ever had, and solved, this issue?
Thanks!
john

Hi everyone,
Here is my challange:
I only use bluetooth with my carstereo (kenwood KDC-BT60U).
Everything works perfect, handsfree calling pairing ect. Now here is my problem, I like the BT stereo audio so I can play music from my LEO over my carstereo. BUT I cant get that function to autoconnect everytime I want to use it I have to go true all the menue's to turn it on in my phone. I have searched the reg but as a noob I cant find it.
I hope anyone has the answer to get it working like I want it to. (I have spent hours puzzeling)
P.S. I am on Artimis 22.0B Radio 2.12

Hi Jimi,
I'm starting to think that this is the case with most, if not all head units. I had, until recently, an In Phase IPS247BT head unit and that did exactly the same: automatically connects to the phone's handsfree, but I need to manually connect the stereo audio. I contacted the manufacturer and they said they designed it this way to save battery life on the phone. Some searching around on the internet shows that this is a common issue. On XDA, I found this application which runs in the background on your phone and automatically connects the Bluetooth streaming which it detects the handsfree is connected, but unfortunately, it only works on phones with the Microsoft Bluetooth stack and our HD2s have the Widcomm one. I have been looking into writing a similar program myself for the HD2, but don’t hold your breath over that.
Incidentally, I have been considering purchasing the KDC-BT60U myself – it looks like a nice head unit. However, in the Bluetooth compatibility charts on Kenwood’s website, they state that the head unit cannot automatically connect to the HD2s handsfree and that you need to do that yourself from the phone. Admittedly, they tested this on a 1.43 ROM whereas I’m using the latest 1.66 ROM. What has your experience been?

Hey amrbekhit,
I never had that the handsfree didn't connect automatically, as soon as I got my phone I flashed artimis so I dont know what it will be like with a 1.66 rom.
My personal guess is that it will work.
My neighbour has the same phone but its still stock and he has no problem with his pioneer unit.
I am not a programmer but a toggle would be a nice as a second option to activate the BT audio, I'll search for it when I have the time and post my findings here.
One thing that's weird is when you pair the phone for the first time the stereo also autoconnects but after that it almost never happens again...
thanks for your reply,
Jimi
I've just fitted a Kenwood KIV-BT900 to my car and started using BT for the 1st time. I've paired my HD2 with the headunit without any problems for the handsfree side of things but when connected, there's supposed to be an option for BT Audio in the headunit's menu but this never appears and I've no idea how to get any further.
Handsfree calling works fine, HD2 & KIV pair automatically when the KIV powers up.

Hi Major_Sarcasm,
In my Kenwood the option to connect BT audio is in the Phone selection menu
Press the horn, go to Phone selection press "enter", there I have something like choose Phone and beneath that I have select BT audio.
Not sure if the same menu is in your device.
I also can connect from the phone: go to settings (on the far right of sence), press the soft key menu than more and than you can choose BT, than go to go to your paired kenwood and press the "+". From there you can select Stereo Audio and it will connect.
P.S. did you check your supported connections? (*maybe you forgot to check the stereo audio).
Good luck, Jimi
Sounds like my Kenwood is slightly different as the BT Audio option is supposed to appear with all the other sources. Also, there is no Audio option on the phone's BT settings, only the HF. I'm not gonna let it worry me, the important bit works, it just irks me slightly that BT Audio is supposed to be there as an option and isn't...
Thanks for your reply though.
I havent seem to run in to anyone with this issue.
I pair my phone to my car stereo fine in the stock GB rom. Play music and talk on the phone endlessly.
But with any ICS version so far, even official. It causes reboots, randomly.
Am I the only one suffering from this?
Not the same, but something similar.
I can connect with my car stereo, have to do it twice (once for music streaming and once for handsfree). Once connected, i can stream music fine. Even the controls on my steering wheel work. When I receive a phone call sound is muted and i can talk fine as well.
After I hang up the phone, the music doesn't come back, only a 0.5 second stutter every 2-3 seconds. On my phone, in the music player I can see that it's my phone that has the problem; the visualisation displays exactly how i hear the sound.
This behaviour also occurs when I turn off my car and turn it on again.. there doesn't seem to be a single thing that i can do to get music to play again, just some fiddling usually gets it to work (but then i have to stop my car first before i can have music..)
If anyone has any ideas for troubleshooting let me know!
I honestly think ics has compatibility issues with certain bluetooth devices.
We can only hope they realize this and take measures to correct it.
Gingerbread is flawless.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Just a notice that this seems fixed for me now.
I've upgraded to the 4.0.4 Rom found here: Click!
Next to this i'm using the app "doubleTwist"
ICS talks a different language then gingerbread when it comes to A2DP, especially for the play/pause commands, which seem important to me..
A2DP issues
I find I have similar issue. I have a SONY bluetooth deck in my car and my phone will lock up and force restart mid song or mid phone call.
Anyone have any ideas apart from flashing that 4.0.4 Rom
Hi,
I have the following problem:
Everytime I pair my Samsung Galaxy SII I9000 with my car (Renault Fluence 2012) and its built in bluetooth System, it says that it's correctly paired (and honestly it doesnt even take a minute to pair correctly), but it plays no music. It just has no sound (even when the song is playing correctly on the phone) but everything else just works perfect. I mean, i can control the music (songs, playlists, etc) from my car, but the sound just wont come out. The only way to make it work is to 'unlock' the sound by calling someone. So when the call starts, then the audio starts working. That is, so far, the only way to make it work. And i have to do it EVERY SINGLE TIME that i turn on the car or that the device stops being paired with my car.
It does EXACTLY the same thing with my bluetooth headphones (Motorola S305), so I realized it was my phone. I have tried other phones with my car and they work just fine. I have tried other things with my headphones too (like my Psvita) and they work smoothly.
The weird thing about it, is that my phone used to work perfectly fine with both things, and just a random day it decided not to work anymore.
I used kies and re-installed android from 0, and that solved the problem for a few days and then it all started again. I have tried cleaning all the bluetooth devices that my phone is paired with. Going back to factory settings in my car, removing the battery on the phone, resetting the phone, taking everything out (including the sim card( everything. And nothing seems to work.
Please, help!
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy SII with Android 2.3.6 (it came with 2.3.3 and i upgrade it twice through kies) I have never rooted my phone or done anything to it, except for upgrading Android through Kies.
Thanks so much!!!

Wow... That's very strange. First off, I'd be looking at compatibility issues. Do you have the BT specs for the car? Maybe they're the same as the headset and not quite 100% compatible with the phone.
Another possibility (although remote) is that the headset and the car are fighting over which gets to talk to your phone because phone services are much different than A2DP (Audio).
You might just have a flaky BT antenna in your device, or a bad (stock) modem/baseband.
I'd try rooting and see if a different modem/baseband clears up the issue. Then at least you'll know what the deal is.
Hey, I also found this on the Renault web site... http://www.renault.co.uk/bluetooth/default.aspx
>> Why does my telephone not reconnect to the system when the vehicle is started?
- In order for your telephone to automatically connect when the vehicle is started, it may be necessary to activate the automatic Bluetooth connection function on your telephone with the hands-free kit. For details on how to do this, please refer to the instructions manual for your telephone.
- Upon reconnection and if there are several telephones paired within the hands-free kit reception area, it is the one that was paired last that will be connected even if it is outside of the vehicle.
So it looks like it might actually be a Renault AND a Motorola problem.
There's also a list of compatibility files at the bottom of that page based on the system you have.
First of all, thanks so much for your help.
The problem with whats going on with my phone, is that it used to work just fine before, with those 2 things (my car and my headphones) Its not like they never worked, they used to work completely fine with my phone.
And i never use them together, like my headphones have never even come close to my car. And since i thought that it could have been a problem with they 'fighting' with each other, even if they werent close, i erased all the cache on my bluetooth settings and unpaired all devices that were ever set with my phone.
So its like if i had never used bluetooth. That obviously didnt work either
It turns out that your car likely keeps up to 5 phones in memory... Is there a way to clear the phone list in the car as well? Then re-pair from scratch on both sides?
well either the blueth is defect or ur doing some wrong settings, root ur device there r plenty of bt apps tht work more powerfull than the default...y possible ur car mus hav a reset buttun for bt so delete all pairs frm phone an reset ur car bt,,,,then start fresh.....hope it helps
I restored my car's settings and deleted every phone paired. That didnt work either... I also tried with a friends phone (iphone 4) and that worked completely fine...

Time for a warranty replacement I think.
Jeez... thats exactly what i was trying to avoid, because my cellphone company will have me waiting for like a month without my phone and will give me in return the ****tiest phone ever while they try to fix it and then realize they cant.

thanks anyway for your help!
So, I'm having a strange issue with my new Note that I can't quite determine where the root cause may be, or if it's a known issue.
If I register my Note with my car as both a phone and an audio device (how the Infiniti nav/stereo works) I can use the Note as a phone fine UNLESS I start an audio app, such as Pandora. Once a2dp audio starts the Note will no longer connect as a phone device, but it works fine for audio.
I had the phone paired with the stock ATT rom but only used it as a phone, so unfortunately, without a restore to stock, I can't tell if the problem exists with the stock rom.
I flashed to flappjaxxx's rom (which I love) the same day I setup the phone to run Pandora via Bluetooth and that's when I started seeing the problem.
I also see some random connect/reconnects that seem a bit more than usual.
So, I can't say there's a correlation, or if this is a known ICS beta issue or what, but I'm hoping it is and that it's not a design flaw
Way I see it it's either:
1. Flashing to any ICS beta rom has the problem, currently?
2. It's in flappjaxxx's build (doubtful)
3. It's user error...(possible )
4. It's an app issue (ie. Pandora is causing the problem?)
Anyone have any thoughts, suggestions or insights? I've done some searching but haven't found this exact issue yet on any posts.
Thanks!
I have a Kenwood DNX9960 in my Avalanche. It connects also for phone and for streaming media. I can be streaming media from either the stock music player or an internet site like pandora or TuneIn and my calls will automatically come through. When the call ends it goes right back to streaming.
It autoconnects to both as long as my phone is in range when I turn on the kenwood. I did have an issue at first where it would not autoconnect. I deleted the pairing from both my phone and headunit. Then when I repaired I paid close attention to check any boxes to "Always" allow connection and I haven't had any issues since.
I understand the normal pairing process, I've had several phones before that worked fine prior to the Note. So, I'm thinking that it is probably a corrupt bluetooth db... I'm going to be reflashing to Flaps new rom and we'll see how that does
Is there a way to delete the pairing from the nav? I would try that
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
There is. I've tried it all, on both sides of the pairing.
I've reflashed the phone to the B6 from FJ, still no joy. The pairing db was new (so no chance of corruption on the phone) and the pairing deleted on the device.
It seems to be a problem with the phone switching between a2dp and phone bt. When a call comes in (while playing say Pandora over bt) the audio cuts out and then the car shows "disconnected" and then "connection failed" if trying to reconnect to the Note as a phone (ie hitting the phone button in the car).
I'm hoping it's the current ICS build. Just have no way to really know. Hoping some other folks will have seen the same issue.
Going to run some tests with different audio sources and see if the behavior is the same.
Well things seem to be working now, for no obvious reason I'll have to assume that the reflash resolved the issue, I just can't tell for sure why it didn't work immediately after. I think it's due to deleting the old pairing on the car and not shutting down the vehicle.
Cheers.
BT connections
I have similar problem connecting to van audio system (vauxhall). After some experimentation it appears to be an ICS problem, if I reflash my note with gingerbread I have seamless connections for both audio and phone. As soon as I upgrade even with offical ICS bluetooth connections become problematic, I can pair but not autoconnect. Tried samsung and they just "fob off" with it's an incompatable device. Until a bug fix is issued it appears as though it's a choic of staying with gingerbread and have a working system or ICS and no handsfree.
I updated my phone to the new Jellybean, and everything works great except for one issue, which is a major one in my case:
I have an '11 Corolla with Bluetooth which has always worked great for me. It worked fine with my phone when it was on ICS. Everything came through the care stereo just fine. With JB, it works with some things, but not with everything like it did before. Phone calls still work fine, the stock music player works fine, and PowerAmp works fine. Problem is, that's the only things that still run through my car audio now. I listen to a lot of audio books on my commute to and from work. The app I have always used for this is Mort Player. Now, all I get when the bluetooth is on is silence. I have found this to be true with every other app I have tried as well. The music player in Motocast doesn't work. Google navigation doesn't work. I've also tried numerous other apps as well like Smart Audio Books, Akimbo, CoPilot, none of them work through the Bluetooth any more.
When I upgraded to JB, the only modifications I had made to the phone was rooting it, and I converted my Power Toggles app to a system app using Titanium so that I can use it as a one-touch switch for my GPS. However, before upgrading, I converted Power Toggles back to a standard app. So other than root, it was completely stock. I haven't found much useful information for this issue, probably because JB isn't widely installed on most RAZR's, but it is a little irritating. I've tried everything, including doing a complete factory reset, but it's always the same.
If I play another app while the stock music player or PowerAmp is playing, then the sound will come through mixed, but not on it's own. Another thing I noticed is that before, my stereo would just display a blank screen when something was playing, or "Pause" if nothing is playing, but now, it displays the name of the song that the stock player or PowerAmp is playing. If you pause it it on the phone, it continues to display the last song played. It only says "Pause" if you press the pause button on the car stereo.
Has anyone else had issues with their bluetooth audio with JB, or know of a fix for this issue?
EDIT: As an added note, I deleted the pairing from my car stereo before doing the factory reset, then re-paired the phone after the reset. Still the same result.
Same sort of issues
Well I could have tried to delve a little deep into this issue, as when ever i tried to pair my phone and send files to my fiance phone it would just not do anything and the issue of showing the same song that was last played shows up in on my sony ericsson blue tooth M600 as well.
But for now i am just complete stuck at the issue that i accidently pressed gsm band selection to USA or the gsm patch. which has caused my phone to just ignore the network completely now network is working.
I would suggest you should try to root and install safe strap 3.11 and then install a leaked jelly bean custom mod it might help but just check the details first and if you are not sure with any of the process let me know before trying. I had my share of issues so I can help you answer those before you try and make a mistake.
For now I am downloading unbrick and will see if i can get this phone to ICS and work again from there.
thanks
From my understanding, once you have upgraded to JB with the leaked OTA, you can't go back to ICS. I'm assuming that is because there has been an update to the bootloader. As a result, I'm hesitant to install any type of bootstrap because I'm not sure if the currently available ones (like Safe Strap) will be an issue and possibly brick my phone.
