Hello!
I have a new GS5 t- mobile GM G900T Android Version 4.4.2.
I am a mac user (Mac OS X) 10.9.4.
I downloaded Towelroot, SupuerSU, WiFi Hotspot & Rootchecker. Everything worked great. I was rooted!
Later that day I noticed severe battery drainage and my G5 was warm to the touch. Concerned, I uninstalled everything and attempted to re-enstall all Apps.
Now when I download Towelroot it states that "this devise is not supported". SuperSU now states "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!
I would like to be able to root my GS5 again.
Please advise.
Thank you!

True! I do recall a recent update via KIES after I rooted.
So will I not be able to use Towelroot anymore? Is there a work-a-round? As a Mac user I've discovered rooting manually extremely challenging.
Please let me know & thank you for your response.

Did you check the info I mentioned in my post?
If you are on firmware/kernel June 3rd or after, you need to Odin back to Samsung Full Stock Firmware that is rootable.
Example is if you are currently on NF6, you need to downgrade to NE6.
You can then Root afterwards.
Or you can root via odin+recovery or cf-autoroot but that will void your warranty

King root works with 4.4.4 and below.
So does towelroot.
You should not be surprised. We already know this.
I can verify that Kingroot 4.1.0.703 will root a VZW S4 running 5.0.1

to replace the KingUser app with SuperSU if you want.
It roots 5.01

I was on 5.01 also.

Another confirmation that is does work on OTA 5.01. I was on Muniz_ri rooted 5.01 but after I saw this post I flashed the stock OTA with Odin and ran the Kingroot app. It's very simple.
EDIT: I used the process to replace KingUser with SuperSU. That was very easy also.

Hmm, last I checked ,5.0.1 doesn't have root. Then again, no one has used kingroot. I also didn't see 5.0.1. Gotta love mobile.

Verizon S4 with 5.01
I tried previously when I had 4.4.2 loaded and it failed. So I gave up until I read this thread and voila! it worked! just rooted 2 phones using kingroot 4.1.
Well, it looks like The people at Kingroot have managed to root this.
I can confirm as well. I'm on a Verizon S4 Lollipop and Kingroot ver 4.0.703 was able to root my phone without even having to use a PC. The app said my ICH-I545 was unsupported but like everyone says just hit the Root button anyway & it still works!
I dunno if therea any malicious code tho..
I found a site to download Kingroot faster and easier without all the confusing ads. Just be sure to download the latest version. http://androidxda.com/download-kingroot-application
Well it seemed to work for me, but now my phone is stuck in a reboot loop after trying to replace KingRoot with SuperSU. The phone boots, shows the lockscreen and works for about 30 seconds, then whatever app is running closes, then the System UI seems to crash and the phone reboots. Factory reset / safe mode don't seem to help.
I found a factory image and have consilidated the links here, if it helps anyone.
Wow...congrats to all the OTA takers!

The app downloaded a file this morning called "kmPlugins.zip.tmp", 12 hours after I used it to root. Not sure what it is but be cautious.

Yesterday I tried the Kingroot app. I downloaded and installed it over my already-rooted Galaxy S4 ( I had been having wifi / internet connection issues since installing a rooted lollipop). When done, I ran their Purify app. After a few reboots that threw it into a boot loop and a battery pull (which seemed to stop the boot loop and allowed it to boot normally) everything seems to work perfectly and my WiFi/Internet connection is solved... phone is much faster too.
I did notice their purity app automatically kills almost everything running in the background. I use the Automateit app heavily, and it took me a little bit to figure out how to set Purity not to kill certain apps that were running in the background.
Like the title... i have read some post in this forum about rooted S4 5.0.1 with Kingroot but I've tried many times and result is my phone can't root? Why?
i downloaded Kingroot app install and run it but when running at 51% my phone reboot and root failed... I've tried PC version but it isn't work, too?
Any support for me?:silly:

Just a question. Are you sure you're not on the new OF1 that was just pushed out. I've seen posts where people fit it without knowing. This will kill the ability for root for now.

I'm having trouble also but with a twist. I was rooted with kingroot and flashed stangs rom but something went wrong and I just got a black screen after boot. I flashed a stock vzw oc1 firmware via odin and now no root for me. I've tried about every version with the same results. I'm baffled why I can't root again.

So sad but it's true i hear everybody told OC1 now can't root... but you saw that in xda forum of I545 have a few post about rooted success OC1 Stock with Kingroot... i don't think it true.. because i've tried it many times...
I did root with kingroot the first time but when I had to flash the stock oc1 rom to my phone and try to root again, kingroot just can't do it this time
Here's a couple of questions regarding Kingroot...
1. How do we all know this is trustworthy? I have read many things across the net. Some good and some bad.
2. If it is trustworthy why is there not an English translation? There may be one but I have yet to find ot.
I am on a Verizon S4 running 5.0.1 OC1 and am wanting to root extremely bad but I also want to be cautious. I took the update via Kies so I know I can't downgrade to 4.4.4 or 4.4.2. Any help would be great.
Thanks

I have just re-rooted using kingroot, but had to use the desktop v3.0, and yes it is all in Chinese. I don't speak Chinese so it was definitely a trial and error process. As soon as you root you run an app called supersume to remove the kingroot files and superuser(kinguser) and it installs chainfire's supersu. I'm glad I have root access again.

Can't root OC1... now i just waitting for OF1 Rooting.... :")
Cause i've just updated to OF1
So any word on rooting of1 yet? I just got this phone two days ago. Would like to try and root. And yes I went back to windows phone and came back to android again...
I think Lollipop 5.0.1 in S4 I545 so bad... why it doesn't run well like i9505? Bloatware about ~1.5GB in my memory.... not only it keep running background but also make my phone slow down, lag and so on.... i don't like it when the first I've seen =]]z:silly:
ugh. so frustrated! I got the edge Friday and rooted it using autoroot with no problems. I tried Saturday to install a custom ROM and got stuck in a boot loop. Finally flashed new firmware via Odin late Saturday night and was able to get it to boot. Since then I can't get root back. Every time I do, I get stuck in a bootloop. I get to the sprint spark screen and it reboots. I have followed the instructions step by step for root including the updated superuser. After I run autoroot via Odin, it restarts but then I boot into recovery, install superuser and reboot and it goes into the loop. I have to reflash the firmware via Odin to get out of it. I used N915PVPU4COG1_N915PSPT4COG1_SPR from the samsung firware website. My phone info is:
version - 5.1.1
Kernel - 3.10.40-5227917
Build, software and baseband are all - LMY47X.N915PVPU4COG1
I'm stumped. I can usually figure this out by myself and since I got my first Android years ago I've been able to eventually get things to work. I've tried superuser 2.16 and 2.46 with the same results.
The only thing I haven't done is try CWM and that's just because I KNOW TWRP works because I got it to work Friday.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not.../root-supported-kernel-5-1-1-testers-t3176651
I don't believe cf-autoroot is working on 5.1.1. Also since you took the 5.1.1 update you won't be able roll back to a different firmware. Just sit tight and wait for root to become available for 5.1.1.
The thread i linked to is for a root supported kernel. It isn't available yet but hopefully will be available soon.
Version 5.1.1. isn't able to be rooted yet. You just got the edge and it of course came with that ROM. Every one who had 5.0.1 was able to root (I'm still rooted because I didn't update), but there were ones that took the update and assumed that they could root like before. But that's not the case. Samsung did stuff to the new version to stop the old ways of rooting. There are a few that are trying to get root, but it's been a process since the update came out, and there isn't any word on success. And the new ROM doesn't allow you to go to an older version. Just like ones that updated to Lollipop from KitKat, they can't go back to KitKat, and anyone who has this new version can't root or go anywhere but wait and hope. It's not just you.

Have tried Kingroot now a few times on the Sprint Note 4 Edge, and isn't working.
I'm with the guy above as I've tried it for myself.
You should chime in and tell us a little about it.

Hello XDA-Forums!
Lately I've upgraded from Android 4.4.4 to Android 7.0 Nougat.
My old phone used to be rooted, which I was happy with.
Now I have a new Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F) which is running on Android 7.0
Straight away I tried rooting my device like I did with my old phone, using KingoRoot for PC. But unfortunately, that didn't work. I
also tried using other 3rd party software such as KingRoot but no luck either.
I had a look on this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...nt/sm-g930-exynos-cf-auto-root-t3337353/page1
So I tried rooting my phone using CF Auto-Root, with Odin v3.10.6, but that didn't work at all and also caused my device to go into a boot-loop and made a message appear. The message was "Recovery is not Seandroid enforcing". So I had no choice but to flash to Stock firmware.
My question is, why can I not root my phone properly? Am I doing something wrong?
Hope someone knows the answer to this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

Old methods dont work with latest devices, especially with latest security features and bootloader restrictions.
You can still root it using this guide.

EDIT
I've changed the title to be something informative now, rather than a question.
Ok, so I finally got it working using KingRoot from here (it's probably the official version, but I'm not sure). Since it's an online-based root, you need an active internet connection and that's all you need. Device will reboot twice during the process, in my case, on first reboot, I've re-opened the app and the progress continued. KingRoot conveniently handles the root authorizations itself, but you might want to install your favorite superuser app later on...
Tested on KitKat 4.4.4 version (see attachments)
That's pretty much it. Hope it helps

OneClickRoot claims to have support for the KitKat 4.4.4 version, but I haven't tried it because of a membership requirement.
I hope someone create a new rooting method for this device

Thank you for your reply. I also tried that, the one for SM-G850F (sltexx), but it failed. Also, there's no support for SM-G850A in chainfire's web page. Do you know other working root methods for this specific device?
