This may be a dumb question, but is there a way to launch Wear apps without using voice? For example, Evernote Wear seems to require that I use voice or pull out my phone and open the Evernote app. That seems to defeat the purpose of having a screen on my wrist that responds to touch...
Is it there if you go into the voice search menu and then scroll down? That's where the settings and things are so I'd expect apps to be listed there.

Yeah, it appears you have to go to the voice menu, scroll all the way to the bottom and tap "Start..." to see the list of apps. Seems like kind of a kludgy way to do it, but I'm just glad there's an option.
I think the watch is mainly made to be navigated by voice.

This. It works just fine with voice, but it gets awkward in public when you have to say "ok google open notes". Hopefully they will add a feature to launch apps directly from the homescreen as the scrolling down in the voice menu takes way longer than opening the app on the phone anyway.

Hey guys,
i been lately thinking about getting a Bluetooth receiver in my car,
finally i found this good idea, bought it 2 weeks ago, and got it delivered today
http://www.ebay.com/itm/160918297575?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
so far I like it, and it charges with the same my phone charger cable, so no need for an extra cable in my car, it works great with my aux cable, the only issue i am facing is when i hold the function button to launch the voice search app, it brings up S Voice not Google now,
is there any way to substitute?

If you go into S-voice settings there should be a box to uncheck....?
You can turn off S Voice being linked to the home button, then search around on the Play Store until you find a third party app that lets you map buttons to launch apps. Set it to launch Google Now from the home button via a long press/double tap/whatever you'd like, and you should be all set.

Thanks for ur help,
i use Home 2 Shortcut app to launch Google Now with double home button press, but i need to launch Google Now from my Bluetooth function button without taking my phone out of my pocket
I personally prefer SVoice. One thing you can do on SVoice and NOT google....
"create a reminder for tomorrow at 11am.....call Rob about switching to Google Now"
SVoice will ask, "shall I create this appointment"....to which you simply say, "yes please"
Google will say, "I can't do that".....to which you simply say...."wish I had listened to that guy on xda forums".

I'm in the same boat as you. 95% of the voice commands I use are for dialing via bluetooth. My fiance is Asian and SVoice falls on it's face with her name whereas Google Voice never had an issue on my GNexus.
Just downloaded jelly bean hoping google now vpice is better then s voice

Google Now sets an appointment for me just fine on my S3 using this example exactly.
Requires Xposed Framework!
This module forces Google Search to show over a lockscreen. This does not include GEL since that's a security risk in a way (use App Settings if you believe otherwise).
This module also fixes Google Voice Search failing when launched while the screen is off (using the Pebble smartwatch in my case).
Compatibility:
Jelly Bean or any other means of having the new Google Search.
Source:
The mod is open source: https://github.com/MohammadAG/Xposed-Secure-Google-Search
You may NOT distribute this app on the Play Store, paid or free.

Yes, Xposed reports an error of incorrect name after hitting Download. You are missing the "r" in the word "search" for the package name.

Thanks, fixed.
The problem persists, and I've not installed this before.
Thanks for your work.

Just gave that a shot! The issue with starting is still persisting though. I have to open google search once (It'll play both the starting recording sound and then immediately after the recording cancel sound), then press back (App is unresponsive) and then open it again and it works as intended.

Yeah, I was aiming to fix that (and I have, but I guess it's a timing issue).
Does it happen when you launch Google Search with the screen off or on the lockscreen? I only handle it for the former since that's when it happens for me.
I tried with no luck getting this work using tasker to launch the voice activity when i plugged in my charger over my pattern lock screen. am I missing something?
EDIT: Missed the part about xposed app settings needed. Problem solved thanks!!
This is working pretty good for me.
I am waking the device using Secure Settings and then launching Google Search.
Would it be possible create another module similar to this but for Google Maps?

I cannot get this working, using nexus 5 on stock 4.4.2 rooted, I installed, activated in Xposed and reboot. I have app settings installed, am I supposed to put "show when locked" on for the secure google voice search app or on the actual google search app? I assume if I put on the actual google search app the whole launcher will show on the lockscreen which I do not really want for obvious reasons. Please help!

I'll second this. Nexus 4.4.2. Enabled in xposed, App Setting has Google Search show when locked. Rebooted.
I'm launching voice search via the DashClock widget on my secure lockscreen - but everytime I press it, I'm still prompted for my PIN. I have to be missing something simple. Any help or direction pretty please?

I read the first post again and I think I misintepreted what it meant the first time I read it. It says it does not include GEL, I thought that meant it does not include GEL meaning it will not install GEL (google experience launcher). I think it means it does not work if your phone uses GEL (which the Nexus 5 does) as it would put the entire launcher on the lockscreen. Seems we cannot use on Nexus 5 or any other device that has the GEL installed. Too bad :crying:

Ah. Thanks. I interpreted it as it would not work if GEL was your launcher. Since I use an alternative (Nova), I was hopeful. Looks like the integration into GEL is too deep on the Nexus 5 so this tweak is out. Too bad. Would love to have this. Thanks for the reply.

Nothing would show up on your lockscreen just by installing this, its a module for Xposed that allows Google Search to open while your screen is locked, without having to unlock it first.
I'm trying to use this on a Galaxy S3 to have Voice Search behave the same as the S-Voice defaults and open through the lockscreen on home button double-tap.
It will open Voice Search through the lockscreen, but the mic doesnt stay on to listen for your input. Any suggestions?
I've also tried to figure out a way in Tasker but cant get it right.
I know there's an app called "Home2Shortcut"...but thats not a very elegant workaround.
I am looking for a way to use it with the s-view cover. I managed to set up Google Now and get rid of s-voice. But now it will activate Google Now and after a couple seconds I lose connection, because s-view cover has a very short time out and that's not changeable..

Same here. Stopped working. Whenever I use the headset button at the lockscreen, it goes "please unlock the device"

I was able to use the watch today while driving and it was great. Nice to switch apps and send texts, navigate, send myself notes, etc.
Quick question. So if my phone screen is off and sitting in cradle, is there a watch command that I can "say" to turn the screen on my phone?
Thanks.

No, you have to tap the screen, or move the watch in a position like if you were gona talk to it. Wich is good, otherwise everyone would be able to start talking to your watch

I think the question was in regards to controlling the phone via the watch commands.
I haven't seen anyway to turn the phone screen on by a watch command. Everything I've told to open on phone will keep the screen off but load it in the background for when you turn it on. My guess is so you don't tap something you don't want pulling it out of your pocket.

Yes there is a way to do this. But it's a little more complicated. You will need tasker, autovoice and the xposed framework with the google now api module. Look over here and do the same with a tasker task to turn on the screen (secure settings plugin needed). I'm quite sure that's the only way, but you will have to disable ART and install all these apps (5 in total).

You're right, I misread the question... The only app that opens on the phone and turns on the screen via a watch command here is my navigation from google maps (navigate home, navigate to work).

Thanks for this, but I was hoping for something a bit more simpler, like "turn screen on."
I have been looking for a way to make suggestions to the Wear team but I haven't been able to find anything. Anyway, I thought that this would be a command that could be useful at some point.
So before, when I would swipe up to Google Now (Google Search), it would bring up my cards and show me everything and if I wanted to, do a Ok Google to do a search. Now when I do that, it only brings up voice search, meaning talk or type what Im searching for. I went back to a previous version and it worked fine. Upgraded and did the same thing. If I launch the app directly from the app drawer, it brings up my cards like its supposed to. Any ideas? I am running Jasmine 4.0.
Thanks.

Thanks tried that and no avail. Works once then happens all over again.
Think it might have to do with the Xposed module Im using for it. Saw another person in the G3 Toolbox say they were having same issue. Just not seen a fix yet.

Not sure if this will help, but depending on the ROM you have installed (ie Lineage, I couldn't get google voice to listen and follow instructions from any screen. On Eragon however (which I have on my phone) you have the option to use "OK Google" from any screen (and Voice lock can be used as well) & the Google voice menu is different in Eragon compared to Lineage. In Eragon - its under settings >> Google >> Voice
From what I saw in Lineage its kinda under Settings >> Google >> Search (and I saw a voice menu but it doesn't allow voice commands from anywhere on the phone, just within Google Now from what I worked out).. it was pretty confusing to me, but i guess each ROM has different google gapps etc..
But Eragon (for me anyway) didn't do this by default, what I did was install the Google Now Lanucher and use it maybe once, then Installed my usual launcher Nova Launcher Prime and I can use Ok Google commands anywhere on the phone, even at lockscreen, as long as screen is on , so you can unlock the phone with your voice if that's your thing.
I know the Google assistant is the new kinda Google Voice and I ain't to sure of the changes between them both if I'm honest. From what I have heard you can get a "light taster" of Google assistant in the Google Allo app (although I have not tried this). But I can use Google Voice anywhere on my phone with Eragon using the OK Google command, (infact I use it ALL the time in my car - only time i use it as its handy for making calls / texts especially combined with Drivemode app) (& no pressing of speech button) providing you install Google Now and then use your preferred launcher. Obvioulsy as its always listening I guess it will use more battery, but as I only use in car with charger, its cool for me. Anyway, hope it helps you somewhat

I couldn't get google assistant on Lineage at all I'm afraid (see my post above) , under Settings >> Google >> Search >> Voice on Eragon I get full functionality - unfortunately in Lineage it only has minimum Google Voice options (like you cant use voice from anywhere on handset - incl lock-screen)
There maybe a work around, (maybe ask in Lineage thread) but couldn't get it to work, I guess you can try and install Google Now Launcher (then just continue using your usual launcher) and see if it adds any further functionality - not an ideal solution as you have an extra launcher using resources in background, but worth a go
btw, there is another thread on the Elephone Forum which may help others regarding this: http://bbs.elephone.hk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=13230&fromuid=90419#.WMqlQTuLSUk
