[Q] SOKP M2 4.4.4 - i9305 - MHL Cable - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have purchased an MHL cable so when I transfer movies onto my phone I can watch at the girlfriends house however whenever using this rom, it does not work, and all i get is no signal, I tried on a mates phone and it worked perfectly, however he did not have the SOKP rom.
Is there a way to make it work on this rom (as it has the best battery life for me) or do I need to ask the developer? (not enough posts yet)

you'll probable need to go back to a stock rom as cm11 doesnt support it...

Nope.
If you could, there won't be a need to differentiate between 3g n wifi version rom, wouldn't they?
i don't know. I thought, the only difference is 3G modul and SIM tray. I really don't need it, so there won't be a problem for me if 3G wouldn't work.
I thought for sure you could use most of the custom ROMs here. IDK for certain though. I do think you will lose 3G.
I'd wait for some more replies or ask in a ROM thread to get a quick answer. make sure to read the op before asking so nobody gets upset if it already is stated. Some days we tend to be more rude with answers that have been posted before and get asked again. and it's a Monday here.
If you can read this it was sent using my GT-P7510.
Yes. Actually I hace a ICS Rom of my GT-P7500 that detect 3G. I tried a Wifi Rom that I think is the GT-P7500 model and worked for me. This didn't detect my 3G network.
Sent from my GT-P7500 using XDA App
Error: I think that the only WiFi rom is of GT-P7510

Yes you can, but you will lose your 3G connection. I've had wi-fi only ROMs on my 7500 before and they worked just fine.
ok, thank you for good news. At least i'm not afraid to flash different ROMs
You can flash ICS if you like, 3G was taken down on it for some fixes but I don't see the real big deal with 3G and Wifi models. Would be advisable to take a nandroid backup, just incase you get too excited
I'll give it a try for sure, but i'm tab owner for about week so first i want to live for a while with stock ROM so i can compare it then with ICS.

And by the way, you can have ICS and 3G too, just flash the 7500 ICS kang here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1461240.
I'm using it and it works really well for me.
Is it really smooth? No lags? What about freezing? Is it faster than 3.1?

In my experience it's much smoother (especially noticeable if you use a live wallpaper and some widgets). Haven't got a freeze yet, everything worked just fine.
Only noticed a few problems:
Camera not working (I don't really use the tab to take pictures, but it's nice to have it for chatting)
When you click on the "recent apps" button, the screen flickers sometimes
Games don't run as good as they did on The Overcome Experience v2.2.0 - stuff like Angry Birds etc. works no problems, but I did notice more stuttering in Asphalt 6
I think that's everything that didn't work for me, otherwise it's been really nice . Other users might report some other problems though. Best bet - take a nandroid backup to make sure you don't break something, then flash it and see how it goes .
ok thanx for sharing xp. First i'll try Overcome and then ICS
One more thing: Do you have any xp with adaptors like Samsung port -> USB port or Samsung port -> SD card reader?

an internet problem(new thread)

In short: after a while (I'm not sure how much can happen in an hour and can also within 6-10 ..) Internet just getting crazy and not work anymore, he decides not to work any more and even have signs of reception (also with full reception that is four bars) and even I connected to the quick (and the problem is not the network because it happens basically everywhere) I tried to fix it through the Recovery: <advence> toggle wifi premmision tried through the tarminal emulator things short, I can not find a solution and I'm sure the problem is the kernel that before I installed it and I just had the ROM with the web to work right without the kernel .. but this phone is worth 1 doller that the games barely moving .. so if possible I need a solution that will work on this kernel! Please Help
I have not officially released ROM CM7 of Mic

Try a different rom or kernel maybe?
I use this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1589710
I've never had a problem with WiFi with it. If you keep having the problem, it may be your phone that is buggy and if you have a warranty you should have it fixed.

Please only post once, when someone can help you they will post a reply.
Anyway onto the main topic, Basically as said above by Sirp0p0, I would try another ROM, Personally I have no idea what kind of ROM to try, just off the top of my head GTR (Gamer - Talho - ROM), but that is only based on the screenshots, I personally have not tried it.
Just from my own experience, try out different ROMs, find the one that you personally like and suites your own style. If any bugs / issues are found, read the forum / previous posts there maybe updates or updates coming.
When you say it happens everywhere, please describe what you mean.. If you mean everywhere _in_ your house then it maybe a router problem / DHCP disconnecting you, it could also be a screen time out issue, I know that when I am connected VIA wifi to my net, if my screen locks, my internet disconnects (on stock p500 GB rom ver, 2.3.3).
In short it could be various things, to be able to help you can you give us some more information, your rom, build number, can you provide any screenshots? Also how are you trying to access the internet? Through what application exactly? It is also possible it's a buggy app? but these are just my thoughts and ideas, maybe some other XDA members will be able to help you or give you more info than me.
everywhere=my house..school ..friend house and stuff like this.. and what you are talking about is wifi sleep policy i turn it to never so it isnt my problem..but ty for trying
any body else?plz help?

[Q] MHL Cable not working

Hello everyone. I bought a mhl cable but it doesnt seem to be working properly. Im running Rootbox ics v1.8 with latest siyah kernel. I connected everything as it was suppossed to be connected, even the charger. My wifi signal drops and the image in the tv dissapears every few seconds and sometimes it just freezes. Phone is working perfectly as always but seems like the tv's image can't keep up with what's going on. if i watch a video that i have in my phone it works fine, but once i start doing anything else, like browsing the web, tv screen just goes black or it just freezes. This is really frustrating. I also tried turning airplane mode on but that didn't help. I also tried to overclock my phone but that didn't help as well. Any help would be appreciated.

MHL doesn't work for mirroring the display on any ROMs that are not based on Samsung stock.
RootBox is not based on Samsung stock, so it is subject to the same issues and limitations that all other AOSP and AOKP ROMs suffer from. This is one of those issues.
If you want MHL to work for stuff other than videos, then you will have to go to a stock firmware, or a ROM based on Samsung stock.

I'm having a problem. I have a galaxy sII, but even watching a video in 1080, the image is horrible.
I use version 2.3.6 Gingerbread
UHKI1 I9100
2.6.35.14 kernel N.E.A. K-x 1.4.2
May be the kernel problem?

Is GB or HB it?

Very bored with the OS on my View 4G..
Any options for ICS? I need STABLE.. this is in my car as nav and multimedia, so it needs to be extremely stable.

I got tired of using gingerbread and wanted the USB Device Host feature so i can use my ps3 controller.
Installed Dexters Jellybean 1.7 , works great except, you cant make phone calls anymore.
3G works for web/ remote desktop, but once u call someone, theres no audio back and forth.
Gonna try a work around so i can use voip / call forwarding.

I believe the wired mic option works with Dex' build.
Hmm. Might have to check it out. Did you install on a View or Flyer?

No stable ics or jb rom? Not sure I agree with that statement. I recently installed YNC's CG rom, and it's been at least as stable as HTC's honeycomb build. Granted I haven't yet put the GPS or bluetooth through a good workout (both crucial to a setup in a car), but for everyday use around the house it has been rock solid.

can you give me the link? i wanna try it
There are still a few features yet to be implemented: front facing camera, usb otg, and a couple of others. So read the first post to see the full list of things that aren't yet functional. But if (like me) you don't ever use one of those features, this build is very good (and has been extremely stable for me). Here's the link:

which ROM does it not work for you with? Also the adaptor needs to be powered by micro usb , and the order that the cables get connected seems to matter. Connect to phone last, trial and error for other two.

I'm on CM 11-20140104-NIGHTLY-e970
Monitor: ACER AL1917W (DVI connection)
Micro USB-DVI adapter: iKross MHL
Connecting LGOG last indicates no connection. I am certain LGOG is powering since screen remains on.
It is why I ask if returning to SnowLeopords stock rom will restore MHL.

You could likely even just use a different AOSP-base rom, no need to go all the way back to 4.1.
I know for a fact that Houstonn's 4.3 PA builds work with MHL, and I believe the official CM10.2 build also work.

I can confirm it is working on Beanstalk 4.4 also , using Samsung MHL that came with Infuse.
Do you know what kernel has MHL support for CyanogenMod?

I installed the Beanstalk 4.4 rom which included the slimkat kernel. The mhl worked. I purchased a rocketfish adapter and plugged it into my hdmi tv and all seemed well. Unfortunately my LGOG started to get very hot. I reverted to my old CM 4.4 with cm kernel and heat problem solved but alas no mhl output.

cm10.2 mhl works. Joy.
Edit: Recent developments suggest I was wrong regarding the 10.2 rom. I reinstalled it and it seems to be working fine. I cannot get my dvi monitor to work but my hdmi tv works great. So I must purchase an hdmi monitor in order to have my LGOG serve as my desktop PC.
My thanks to OMGMatrix for suggesting 10.2 as a solution.
@XDFernando, try the 10.2. I think you will find it easy to get along with.
CM11 now supports mhl
I upgraded from 10.2 to 11 last night and tried connecting to my hdtv and lo-an-behold it mirrored my LGOG, even rotated the view.
I have also not working
CM11 MHL Working
I'm pleased to announce that I have reached my goal of replacing my desktop computer with my LGOG. I use bluetooth mouse and keyboard and connect my LGOG to an $80 LED HDTV via MHL adapter. I was inspired by this blog http://www.livingdigitally.net/2012/02/using-a-mobile-device-as-a-desktop-computer.html. YouTube videos now play through MHL without a problem. My thanks to the CM11 post by shellnut. I'm using the latest CM11 nightlies with the gapps-kk-20140105 and 3.4.0-CM+ kernel. Pretty neat.
