I got lazy and now I'm paying for it... Used the HTC One Click Root instead of doing it the old fashioned way. Now I seem to not have any image on the phone to boot from... I can not get into recovery only HBOOT.
Thank you in advance!

Don't do anything at all to the phone until (hopefully) bftb0 responds here with detailed instructions. Absolutely do not try to run the RUU from a PC to try to re-flash the stock phone ROM, it could brick it in this instance.
bftb0 will want to know what HBoot version you are on. 1.49 S=OFF, 1.47 S=ON, or what.

Thanks, like I said hopefully btbf0 will chime in here. He is the expert at unbricking. Be comforted by the fact that more than likely it is not really bricked, just a little hiccup that's more than likely recoverable.
btbf0's first step will likely detail how you can go from 1.49 S=ON to 1.49 S=OFF. Having S-OFF enables you even more choices for unbricking.
Probably the easiest thing would just to put the flashback pb(blahblah)img.zip on the SD card and boot with the volume button down.
But I'd wait for bftb0 to chime in.
hell i wouldn't mind getting s-off on my own phone... didn't realize we could do that... been a while since i looked into it though

How To Install Engineering bootloader FOR LEAK ROOTERS
@akajeeves, be very careful if you follow any instructions in that thread. I would still suggest waiting another 12 or more hours to see if bftb0 gives you specific instructions.

I will definitely have to do some reading there.
But yeah I have no intention of going forward tonight anyway it's late and the phone isn't being missed.
Patience is the better part of valor. At least that's what I hear.

what exactly does the phone do when you attempt to boot it normal? does it go to a black screen? does it go to splash screen at all? are you able to get any logcat?

Ok this phone is haunted.... I put it down the other day cause it was getting late and did not have time to get to it yesterday... when I went to boot it today it worked perfectly fine. I'm so completely confused at how it could just start working out of nowhere.
Did one of you break into my apartment last night and fix it?

Hope it keeps working for you!
I definitely appreciate the help even though the phone decided to fix itself... would you recommend flashing the s=off bootloader next time I update my ROM to provide increased recovery ability or no?
Addendum : from what I understand it will allow me to flash stuff from hboot or am I misunderstanding?
Edit 2 : does nand save the bootloader too?

I would recommend achieving S=OFF as soon as you're comfortable in doing so. Just please be careful and ask questions first if you have any doubt.
I'm definitely not the expert, so someone else might have to answer some of your questions.
1. I believe that's true re: flashing from hboot.
2. Nandroid does NOT save the bootloader, ever.

Define bricked for us. "Bricked" generally means that you can't get it to turn on at all. If you are getting bootloops or whatever, you still have hope!
Can you get to the boot loader? If so, have no fear. The path to redemption is probably going to be simple.

I am in the bootloader currently and i get a lit up black screen when i turn it on. But the bootloader seems to be glitching a bit but i relocked the bootloader and am retrying on the ics.

I hope you are doing the RUU. Follow these instructions closely and slowly and I bet you'll be back up and running in the hour.
Don't forget to check you MD5 after you put the RUU on the SD... just in case. And run the RUU twice, just like the instructions say. It's essential.

Its funny becasue iwas doing exactly that. Do i HAVE to relock?

I have to commend you on stressing checking the MD5! It seems people have completely left this important step out of the flashing equation. I forget who it was who said this, but it holds true. "Flashing a file without checking the MD5 is like having sex with a known prostitute without a condom" Classic awesomeness! It seems that running the RUU twice is getting by a lot of people. It is DEFINITELY essential!l,

Personally, i have NEVER checked the MD5 sum and never had a problem. Maybe i have just been lucky but i think that probably 99.9% of the time theres no point

It's just good common sense to check the MD5. It takes like 5 seconds and could save you tons of problems. Flash a bad file to your phone once and see how you feel about it!

You don't purchase 4G seperately. If you have a 4G phone and a data plan, it is part of the deal.
So, long story short, took the Phone into Sprint so they could look at my headphone jack (was cracked and left ear bud would constantly cut in and out) because its acting up.
Gave the Tech the phone without the battery in it (since he didn’t need to power up the device to clearly see the headphone jack has a huge crack in it) but I left my SD card installed. As he was walking away, I asked him if I could remove my SD card and he let me, then seen that I gave him the phone without a battery. So, I ended up giving it to him (praying he didn’t turn it on and see ViperBoys sick ass ROM booting up) and he accidently pressed the power button turning the phone on. Promptly short after, he removed the battery when the phone was on the HTC screen, didn’t even get the boot animation. I was like OHH $h!t, that gonna mess up my phone & sure as $h!t, it did… Just loops in and out of that screen resetting each time with a little vibrate then looping.
I can get into Fastboot and use ADB, I’ve flashed RUU’s, put Stock image on root of SD and let recovery restore (losing my CWM & my HBOOT 1.400), unlocked, relocked, wiped, thrown, and screamed at it with no luck.
I did do a CWM backup before even setting foot in the Store, so I do have a backup. The 1st thing I tried was restoring it through CWM recovery and that didn’t stop the looping. I can still get into fastboot via power + vol down and adb functionality is still there.
HBOOT is 1.50 and s-on is enabled..
Been reading through threads since lunch and tried many different solutions without success. It seems once a phone is this far gone, people stop responding.
Anyone have any ideas?
New phone will be here tomorrow (free of coarse courtesy of Sprint insurance) but I’ve been without a phone all day and most of yesterday. I’d like to get this one back to stock and booting before I trade it in for the replacement tomorrow
So you ran an RUU and it still didnt work? And you're sure the RUU SUCCESSFULLY ran without any parts of it failing right?
If that's true, there's no hope AFAIK. Try to get it not to show the bootanimation by bricking it further.

My only explanation is that while he removed the battery some of your hardware got borked. This can't possibly be a software issue.

BUMMER! In case the question comes up I ran "RUU_Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.17.651.5_Radio_1.06.00.1216_NV_NV_spcs_1.42_release_233304_signed" and it ran just fine.
Hmm, hardware issue. Dont see how I can check for that if it doesnt boot.
Guess I'll just have to wait for the new Phone
try to fastboot oem lock it from fastboot. Then RUU, see if that works.
Why even get this one to work if you are getting a replacement?
Sprint is just going to put the phone back to stock....

The HTC unlock went as expected. Followed the directions to the "T", then relocked, checked in fastboot (not that I could check anywhere else, LOL) and the phone says "*** RELOCKED***". Ran 2.17.651.5 RUU successfully to the finish. Still looping

Because I just want to know WTF happened!!! Had this Phone since release, abused\used the hell out of it by flashing ROMs constantly, restoring backups, tethering like crazy, emailing, texting, FBing...
No reason for it to crap out on me from a simple mistake, not even of my responsibility, lol!
The only issue I've had with this Phone is that damn headphone jack 1/2 way failing..

DONT TEMPT ME DAMMIT! lol! Just been without a phone for almost 3 days. I'm also seeing a lot of new threads about people experiencing what I've gone through.
Woops, sprint\HTC! once again rooted, and running viperROM.... SWWWWWET!
HBOOT 1.5 and s-on is a *****!
Not to mention... But in Linux, I never got revo recovery to flash... You can do it in windows just do it via fastboot.
Took my Orig cwm bsckup "recovery" & "boot" .img and threw them @ the phone via command prompt.
After cwm was restored, I restored my 4\29\2012 backup that I made before I entered the Sprint store, now my phone is back to the exact same way
It was. Pretty Damn sweet!
So much info here!! I'm truly thankful!!!

WTF, so about 2 hours ago my evo just crapped out. Its S-off running Flex360s 1.72 rom. I was at the store and pulled out my phone, I hit the power button and nothing would happen. When I got home I noticed its stuck at the splash screen with no backlight. Held the power button till it restarted and it would vibrate and bootloop till it eventually get stuck at the splash screen. The whole time the backlight being off. It can go to bootloader but its like frozen and even then the backlight is still off. Too bad I cant pull the battery, also it will not just turn off
Time to plug in USB and run the latest RUU for Jewel?

You are not actually bricked since your device turns on and shows some responsiveness when doing so (i.e. bootloader) My phone is ACTUALLY BRICKED meaning it has no response of any type whatsoever. If you can successfully boot into bootloader then you'd want to select "fastboot" then run the Jewel RUU from your PC. You'll need all the necessary fastboot drivers installed beforehand.

bring it to best buy, you will get a loaner phone for 3 days and then get the new one. whats nice is there people at geek squad dont know how to check if the phone is even rooted, also you get the new one before the people get the broken one.
Ok, so here's my problem. I was running rumrunner trying to gain S-off on my evo LTE, but while it was sitting on my desk, the cat pulled on the USB cord while it was going through it;s second pouring and the cord came out. After rebooting it I had problems, Reflashed Viper Rom, everything seems to be working ok, a little sluggish maybe ,but not too bad. I was just wondering if I should try to fix anything or try to re-run rumrunner. It's my only phone and I'm afraid to screw it up more. Thank you for any and all help, I appreciate it.
