Does anyone know any current news about this function and battery consumption? Really it consumes more battery? I believe it was something to consume more battery, Sony would report this to enable the option!
It seems negligible. The phone still goes into deep sleep.
hi.im check .do not exceed battery consumption
I don't think this feature consumes a lot of energy. It's a great feature for me, btw. So why disable it? I'd rather use my phone 10 mins less than not using this feature.
Thanks guys for the reply!
I believe if consuming battery, Sony put a warning when activating this option!

I'm pretty sure it doesn't use battery either. Still goes into deep sleep for me. But if ever it DOES use battery life, it's probably very minimal anyway.

hi dear. i disable all other app and check at 2 period. first with 2 tap enable and then without 2 tap.
There was no significant change
Well I think it just keeps your digitizer on and uses a negligible amount of power ..but correct me if I am wrong !
In a device from Nokia that I can not remember the model has the same function and activate it the user is informed that this option will consume more battery than normal!
Simple! If you want to use such tech then enable it and take risk (if there's any like battery consumption and such), and if not, DISABLE it, cased closed.
I don't notice any further battery consumption using this feature. 3-4h with 1% battery consumption is really good.
Take it easy, pals! Why are you so serious about battery consumption? Be happy and use it.

It once raised this doubt in a thread and I had that in mind! I find it strange it consume more battery and Sony always worried about the battery do not put any advise to enable this option!
How do I activate this double tap to wake feature??
Sent from my D6502 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
@azeter go to settings - display - tap to wake up.
Just to let you know, I have completely forgotten about this feature and started using it since this Wednesday, after comming across this thread.
I have not noticed any effect on the battery life, not noticable as my usage pattern is quite consistant daily and I could tell...

Hello everyone,
From yesterday i started facing a strange issue due to which i am experiencing serious battery draining issues.
My battery started draining 1-2% every 5 min in idle mode after i played a game named crazy fist . next day i factory resetted my phone. In idle now it is not consuming any power but when i do some work on my phone , it consumes alot of battery and it.drins like 1% every 2-2.5 min.
Charging time is normal. But discharge is pretty fast.
So i checked thr battery usage inside settings.and noticed that my display is consuming about 41% of the battery and android os arnd 13%. I am not sure qbout os usage but thr diaplay is consuming too much power. I think initially it used to consume 13-20(max)%.
Or is the usage correct? I am using sgs2 stock midel and have no intentions to root it.
Kindly assist and reply asap. Thanks in.advance,
Siddhanth
the display on the galaxy s2 does drain alot of battery if your using it for quite a while..thats what they call screen on time..my battery was draining fast and i panicked... when you do use your phone how long do you use it? say do you use to browse like for a good hour non stop?
if you was rooted i could of gave you some options but here is a link to help you read and give you some tips on battery life...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1234264
charge your phone fully and drain it without switching it off..charge it again without taking it off charger i say leave it for a good few hours...do the same thing for a few charging cycles and see what the battery like is after that..but check the link
But this strange thing happened to me aftrr 1month.
I wss never rooted.
I mean this is the first time my display is consuming 59-61% of the overall battery. is this normal and does it hsppen to u too?

i thought the same as you buddy. never realised it in the start when i had my s2 but then checking the battery usage and i panicked...its normal for the display to drain the battery alot..
change your brightness to auto and there is an option in settings and display where you can tick to have the display autoadjusted. thats for brightness..
or do what i do and have your brightness on the lowest settings and see how it goes from there...fully charge your battery let it say for 6 hours then let it drain till it dies down without any breaks and then charge it again to the max..do the same thing for a few times and check whats the battery after a few days...

when calibrated your phone you leave it on of course and charge it without any interuptions...when you let it drain with out any breaks like switching it on and off, once it dies down then plug to charge it.....it will charge and it will give you the battery icon...once its fully charged you can see by the battery when its fully green switch your phone and your good to go...

hey buddy sorry for the late reply..go to market and download the battery calibration app by Nema..once you installed it charge your phone fully go into the app and just follow the instructions and then you should be fully calibrated..
but download the app first

I have read a lot of threads regarding battery life.. But I really don't care having 2 days with 3 or 4 hrs of screen time.
My deep sleep is actually very good 96%-97% in 8 hours... But I want to know what to do to minimize the battery USING the phone while browsing.. Screen brightness I always have it a lowest possible.. Also have it UV a bit, using LiLRom 1.5.1 with entropy 3/5 right now is dropping like 1% in 3-4min... Is there anything else I can do to increase the time for lets say around 6-8min ? I guess 10min/1% will be impossible..
80% of the power usage is due to the screen. That's the price we pay for amoled.
Disabling "Use Wireless Networks" under Location and Security in Settings helps.
That will stop the apps that you are using from unnecessarily polling your location. For example, I've seen Facebook turn on GPS every time I access it even when all I am doing is checking my Wall. Turning off above mentioned option prevents this.

If your browsing the forums, you need to use the black theme in Tapatalk (xda premium). Black is our friend for battery. Could also drop your CPU/GPU clock down 1 step, but the screen will be #1.

Yeah I have read your thread and is a very nice one but the problem on that thread is that it became some sort of competition of which combo rom/kernel have the better battery for a period of days.. And not squezing the most of screen ON but using the phone. I did some test a few months ago, and if only the screen is ON but without touching the phone it will get nice times. But once you start touching the phone is when the power consumption is bumped.
But will be nice to see a guide with some values to mess with freq,mv,etc.. to get a balanced consumption between usage and performance..

I am trying to crowd-source what people do to get good battery over here in an xda thread. If you add your settings to that form (after jumping to that post), it may help telling you and others as to what settings help towards and against good battery life.
The only problem of mine with SGS 2 is wake up lag. Pressing power or home button when screen is locked and after a call, screen wakes up 2 seconds later and this makes me crazy and i want to throw it when it happens.
Do u guys have any ICS ROM suggestion that has no wake up lag?
You're not going to remove wake-up lag without keeping a permanent wake-lock.
You can help to reduce it by not using a kernel which is by default utilising a governor inhibiting screen off CPU frequency.
No wake up lag = no deep sleep = battery draining very fast.
I guess you can grab an app that mantains a permanent wakelock and you won't have that lag. Your battery won't last long either.
I'm running Resurrection Remix 1.1 with the Siyah 3.0.1 Kernel. When you mention wake up lag, I can't even imagine what you are talking about because I have none whatsoever. And my battery goes all day with heavy usage and I still have at least 45% left when I go to bed....

i understand u tell me the only phone that has deep sleep is s2. dont other phones have no deep sleep? i think they do, but no lag for them.
I everyday charge my battery, sometimes twice a day. so charging isnt a problem for me.

Well, my battery was % 56 at 7.50 AM now it's 9.42 AM here and my battery level is on %55. I hope it lasts like that.
I couldn't find a thread on this and was just curious if NFC drains battery. If so, does it drain a significant amount or is it miniscule?

If it does burn any battery and I mean any I will be disabling it as I don't use it. If I ever need it I'll just enable it again. But until I hear that it takes any battery at all I'll leave it on.
No. NFC is completely off unless the device is on and unlocked when it is on consumption is very low.
They actually talked about this at IO as well - breaking down battery drain while the device was on and in use NFC accounted for 0.5% of power consumption (out of 100). Again this is while the device was on. Given that it's disabled when the screen is off you're looking at less than that averaged over regular use of the device.

Thanks for the info. I have been using NFC all day and haven't noticed any difference in battery at all. 0.5% is hardly noticeable and disabling it would be pointless. With that said, I flashed a new ROM before clearing the data from Google Wallet so I likely bricked my GWallet anyway so it wouldn't make much difference to me anyway.

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the LG G6's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I have been on and off mine all day without heavy use due to being at work, and by the time night came without me charging I was around 79%. This is from 5AM to 11PM. But I must admit... I went into the sttings and set EVERYTHING as inactive that I was able to do so and recommend everyone do it. The apps will never turn on or activate unless you manually open one in which case it will then stay active. It's great for apps that do crap in the background which you never use anyway. Oh, and I use Greenify as well, and always keep my tasks clear. So yeah... I'm used to saving battery by habit so my experience is different from most.
My standby time has been brutal... Would not be using my phone for around 1 hr and then id see my battery drop from a 36 to 30.... I closed all apps and even used the smart cleaner to get rid of some.. I dont know whats the problem to be honest. If they can fix the standby drain i could honestly reach for 5 to even 6 hours of screen on time
My standby has been really good, I can leave it off charge overnight and can only go down 2% or so, but once I start using it the % drops heavily after 5 minutes or so. I've got to go through the settings to turn off notifications because I've noticed apps like candy crush giving me notifications

Did you hook your phone up to a computer and use the ADB commands to enable Greenify's aggressive doze? That really helped me, Nougat's built-in doze is still crap compared to Greenify. Also, setting WiFi to inactive while display is off, as well as enabling data saver in data management to restrict mobile background data for all apps helps greatly with wakelocks. Also everyone should consider disabling certain notifications from apps like Maps and Assistant which can create a lot of wakelocks.
I wrote a few tips to help with battery life on Nougat in the G5 section, but it should apply here as well:

Standby time wears on you depending on what apps you got running
?????
I found the culprit. Apparently one of my skin apps was causing wakelocks keeping the phone awake the whole time. Deleted it and installed greenify, will see how things goes
