Touchscreen issues? - Xperia Z2 Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
Just got this tablet for my Mother and when setting it up for her I've noticed the touchscreen can be a bit...iffy.
When I unplugged it from the charger the touchscreen because completely unresponsive.
Rebooted and all seemed fine expect it wasnt registering some keypresses, ok I thought it may be the protective cover i hadnt yet removed so took that off and...it still seems to be a bit iffy registering touches.
Is there any known issues with touch on this tablet or have i just managed to get a bad one?
Thanks

[Q] Touchscreen not responding

Hi folks
Just inherited a very worn out one year old Xperia X10 from my son. Been trying to resurrect it.
About 2 or 3 months ago the touchscreen started to become non-responsive occasionally. Admittedly, I didn't look at it for him at the time. Then he dropped it down the loo (think - hope! - there was only water in it at the time). We dried it out in the hotpress and it worked ok but still with intermittent touchscreen not working.
He got a Blackberry from Santa, so a couple of weeks ago I inherited the Xperia. The screen was cracked in several places and totally non-responsive. Rather than chuck it in the bin, I thought I'd try and fix it up. So I bought a new screen on ebay and the other night I dismantled it and fitted the new screen. Touchscreen is still totally non-responsive. There was a slight rust on the perforated metal plate at the back of the screen which I carefully cleaned with WD40. All the connections and circuits look ok. I've updated it successfully on both PC Companion and SEUS.. I've also tried flashing using instructions from this forum but cannot get it right (most flashtool symbols greyed out). I have a feeling that it's a simple problem but just can't get there. The screen display is fine, I can get the camera and the keyboard up using the buttons. But damned if I can get the touchscreen to work. I feel the problem harks back to when the screen was intermittent - it still worked after the water/screenbreak, but not that well.
Anybody got any ideas or should I bin it? (Can't seem to get any worthwhile advice on the WWW - happened upon this forum while searching and thought - "This is my MAN". (One suggestion I saw on the web was to try a new battery - can't see how this would make a difference, present battery working fine. Also, I wondered if the proximity sensor could be on all the time?)

[Q] Touchscreen wakeup issue

Hi everybody,
Recently I've been encountering a problem where my streak won't respond to any touches after I open the screen. Pressing the power button and waking the phone up again does not solve the problem. I've read about the static issue, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be the case here as the problem still occurs even when my streak isn't in my pocket.
Oddly enough, rebooting the phone solves the issue temporarily. The touchscreen will work perfectly until I turn the screen off again, but when I turn the screen back on, the phone doesn't seem to register any touches. The phone itself works fine as it still receives notifications even when the touchscreen is unresponsive.
Is this a hardware or a software issue?
I'm currently on DSC 2.2 and baseband 366. I'm going to try a factory reset right now to see if any will improve.
Thanks!
Edit: did a factory reset, problem is still occurring
I have the same problem, does anyone know how to fix this? thanks

Have you tried recalibrating your touch screen from the dell menu?
Its option 3, worked for me a few days ago.

Yeah I have. I'm currently assuming it's a hardware issue since I've reverted back to a stock rom along with several other custom roms but the touchscreen still remained unresponsive after waking it up. I'm hypothesizing its a bad connection somewhere, especially if the display and touch sensor wake up separately. Does anybody know anything about this and whether it can be repaired?
On the other hand, I might be completely wrong...
I noticed that some bags for DS5 produce static electricity, such as the original Dell Bag (Futon bag - ?)
The Leather Bag (with red fissure) does not produce static electricity even when having the DS5 in trousers.

I had this problem once, pried and screwed the Streak open, checked connection ribbons, and cleaned it with (a little bit) electric contact spray. This has saved my irresponsive power button as well! Success:good:

[Q] Another Digitizer Thread or Maybe Different One

Hi, I have a quick question.
My digitizer starts failing. I know in the end it should fails cause most of them need to be replaced but maybe my problem is different.
Most of digitizers are stop working at all or only some parts of it. My digitizer is working fine but ONLY after turning on screen sometimes it's working like using it with wet fingers - it's crazy pointing everything without my control. After turn off and on screen it's working fine until next turning on.
I'm wondering can it be software problem?? I had similar problem in Defy+, leds under hardware keys stop lighting and before sending it on warranty I wiped it and now all working fine.
It's no problem for me to replace digitizer or wipe system but it would be good to know that it can be software problem before buying new digitizer.
Maybe you need to apply the raindrop fix. Been discussed already.
First, thaks for understanding what I mean. (Very poor english)
Second, this is exactly what I ment. I just copied tounchpad.cfg from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467696 and all looks fine now. No mess up on multitouch. I hope it will stop messed up touch while turning on screen, need to test it for a while cause this issue isn't appears on each turning on but ocassionaly.
Anyway thanks for fix. You saved my time (3 hours on wiping and bulding new system) and money on new digitizer.
One more thing. I'm using this phone from few months and everything was ok. The problem appears few weeks ago. So if it is bug in rom it should appears just after I bought it, not after few months. Or maybe it's not factory bug but just error in touchpad.cfg??
Sorry for post under post but I have few more informations.
After testing few days raindrop fix the problem still exist. Fix helped but not fixed problem. Still after turning on screen touch is acting crazy but after first touch it stops and before applying fix it stops only after turning off screen and turning it on.
I reflashed full sbf stock Gingerbread, full wipe including internal memory and still the same problem.
Strange thing I observed is the problem appear only when WiFi is on and it's searching or trying to connect. When WiFi is off or it's connected to router the problem never appears and when I turn on screen and after that turn on WiFi everything is ok. Only when I'm turning screen with WiFi on screen touch acting like crazy.
Is there any chance to fix it or should I buy new digitizer??
Ok, I changed digitizer on warranty and now everything is okay. Funny thing is that I have unlocked bootloader and they changed my digitizer without any problems. Less funny is that they broke both sensors changing it and I had to send My Atrix to Motorola once more after two days to change flex. But now I hope it should be working fine.
So after all it had to be popular hardware problem.
Thred can be closed.

[Q] Touch screen issues in X10

Hello. I have issue with the touchscreen on my X10. First of all this phone is already 3 years old, and I'm the second owner so problems might arise from age. But everything else works fine though.
Anyway, the issue with touchscreen is, when the screen get wet a bit (whether it's from sweat or moisture or something), the touch screen gets jumpy. It does respond to my touch, but it reacts to the different spot of the screen, making typing and scrolling impossible. Ghosting. Erratic. Something like that. Wiping the screen does solve the issue, but it's bothering. I've removed the screen film that came upon the phone, but it still happens. Shouldn't touchscreen phone respond touch well even if the screen is a bit moist?
Any help is always appreciated. Thanks before. :good:
I too have this problem, any solutions ?
Bump

Line on keyboard off calibration after screen replacement.

I just got done replacing my broken screen on my LG G3. I replaced the whole front panel and just transfered the guts. Everything checked out fine after replacement until i typed my first text message. row A-L will not goto screen unless I touch nearly inbetween the middle of the row beneath it. q-p work fine as well as z-m. What really has me boggled is that the screen accepts touches there in virtually every other app/drawing. Just the keyboards aren't allowing touch in that specfic row. any suggestion?
Found a few more bad section.. Pulled the back loudspeaker back out and tried reseating the cables and still had same issue. They're sending a replacement for free.
This was my first screen replacement, but not my first time dealing with small ribbon cables. All cameras function fine, hoping it was a defect in screen and not my screen changing abilities.. Any tips for the next one would be appreciated. Would like to have a fully functioning phone again sometime. This is nearly more frustrating than the broken screen.
I am having same Issue

Hey just curious if your issue has been resolved.... I am having same issue, but i took mine to a computer store i have been dealing with for years. about a year ago they started doing cell phone repairs as well. I had them replace my cracked screen on my LG G3 and that same row of text if off for me and there are a few other spots i have noticed are off as well .... very frustrating... Anyway the place I took it to has replaced 3 screens hoping they were getting defective parts.... they just called to tell me I can come get it but they were unable to repair the dead spots without going further into replacing boards or something.... I dont know... It is weird though cause you can get the dead spots to work sometimes by very lightly touching or just touching it in just the right spots like a calibration if off....

A review on G3 LCD's on Amazon reports the same problem "I installed the screen and immediately my wife mentioned that it seemed to have "dead spots" when she was texting / playing games. I noticed it myself when I tried texting myself as a test. Several of the letters on the keyboard just wouldn't register very well. She went into the settings and ran the "motion sensor calibration" test under general settings>gestures. This has resolved the touch screen issues. "
I don't see how that would fix it but I guess it's worth a shot.
