Massive battery drain? - LG G Watch

Hey guys
So it was obvious having a smart watch would drain the battery but this much? I'm not sure
How about you guys?

You get 15 hours? I'm doing good with 6 hours at work. Maybe 8 at home.

Yeah, something's definitely wrong. My D6503 has been off the charger for 2 hours so far today and the android wear app doesn't even appear in my battery usage list. Screen shows 49%...bluetooth matches phone idle with 4%.

I get about 12 hours, sometimes less, depending on usage. I have a N5. But the android wear app definitely doesn't use 28%, more like around 10%

Yeah something is not normal. Mine doesn't use anything.
Sent from my LG-F400K using XDA Free mobile app

I had massive drain the first day of use. My watch was draining at a rate of 13% per hour with minimal usage. My phone was draining at 9% per hour with minimal usage. Top battery drainers were ANDROID OS and GOOGLE SEARCH. I factory reset my watch and restarted my phone. Re-paired them and everything was "normal." Phone drained about 1% per hour and watch at 2% per hour. Something about that initial pairing and maybe where the watch had to do an update out-of-the-box. Don't know... but maybe try a factory reset on your watch and restart your phone and then re-pair them.

Android wear dont even get dislpayed for me as battery usage and my phone G2 as been off the charger for 16h and I still have 53% of battery left....
Seem normal on my side.

Which watch do you have? Are you running Android L?

Which watch do you have? I have the LG G watch with always on enabled and neither Android Wear or Bluetooth are listed in the battery app after 8 hours of use. Noapps have been muted. Screen bring at 1.

Thought the battery drain might be a compatibility issue with the preview.

Well I have to correct myself now. Didn't have the issue before, but now it popped up. Not quite sure what I did to cause it or why it's happening now. Android wear now uses 50% of my battery, I only get about 8 hours from 100% to below 10%, that's half the time my phone survived before This sucks :/

Do you maybe have the app "wearable widgets" installed? I did, as soon as I removed it battery life went back to normal and the wear app doesn't use more than 1% battery any more

I had the same thing yesterday after I installed Wear Mini Launcher. A full shut down and restart of my phone solved the issue and it looks to be running fine again now.

Have this too. Massive drain from the Wear app on my phone. I uninstalled all Wear apps, cleared data of the wear app (settings were not reset, though), restarted watch and phone. No solution.

Had battery drain until i stopped using Wear Unlock and a couple other Wear apps. with just mini launcher, calc and calendar i'm doing good on battery.

my watch is draining
have an htc one m7 my battery had been lasting me a day, day and a half. since ive gotten the LG the phone has gone dead after about 8 hours. any suggestions?

Battery drains faster than usual

I have noticed my battery sucks lately. I know the battery isn't the greatest but I was able to get easily a day of use out if it. Now I can barely go a day. I purchased beautiful Widgets, battery indicator and xda app all last week And it seems after that is when my battery went to **** .I used launcher pro for a bit too but started having lag problems so I removed that. Today I uninstalled beautiful Widgets. I'm on wifi and in airplane mode. As I'm typing this I've lost %2 already. Wtf is going on? I have GPS Bluetooth and usually wifi off. I have use only 2G networks, sync only gmail and screen manually set and set to low 30sec TO.
Any suggestions?

Sounds like way more than that. I can certainly type a couple paragraphs before my % drops at all. You sure haven't installed something else? If not you could have a defect.? Possibly return it and get a new one?

Quick question, which ROM are you running? Ever since I switched over to leaked JI2, every couple days I notice that after running one of a few apps, the CPU just seems to go into overdrive. The phone gets really warm and the battery drains ridiculously fast. So fast that even plugging into my car charger won't charge the phone, even on idle. If I reboot, the phone cools down and the battery drain goes back to its normal, slow self.
I haven't narrowed it down to any specific app yet, but it seems to be either, Foursquare, Great Land Grab, or Bubble Blast.
Foursquare I have, I don't remember when I installed it. I am actually just running stock TW.

I get 15hrs... I am not ROOTED! I did the drain battery life process twice. This is with moderate usage. I am planning to do the drain battery process once a month cuz I hear it helps with battery life. Possible that u install something that's killing your battery.
Solution do the master reset if that doesn't help then it can be the battery is no good. I know that this is with the stock rom. If u are using another rom that's maybe the problem. U can try switchig roms to see if this is the problem. I hope this information has been helpful.
Does the master reset remove everything ? I have all my pics/videos on my phone meM. I have music and avatar on SD.

It seems as though it drains faster in standby with nothing running. I removed FourSquare last night and have nothing running as far as widgets. I'm going to reboot and see. I've had it unplugged since 7am this morning, after a little over an hour I lost 2%.. not that bad I guess..

I've had this happen a few times. For me, it's usually because my battery status gets thrown off somehow. The phone would read that I have 55% battery life left, but it really only is at 25 or 30% and it always feels like it's draining fast. I usually turn off the phone, pull the battery out for a few seconds and then put it back it. When I turn on the phone the battery percentage is corrected and the phones seems to be back to normal battery use. I don't know why this happens.

This was suddenly happening to me today -- my battery started draining very quickly, mostly on standby (I usually have quite good battery life). No new or unusual apps installed in the past week (I don't use Foursquare).
I gave it a power-down/battery pull; no adjustment in the % as described in the post above, but it seems to be draining more normally now. Weird....

Same thing happens to me every couple days. Rebooting the phone fixes it every single time though, so it's not a big deal if I catch it in time. If I didn't catch it, I'd estimate my phone would be drained (even in standby) within 4 hours or so.

Same here, I rebooted after removing FS and some other apps/touitur and got 1day 13hrs on the next charge with pretty moderate use. So whatever it was, it's gone now. If it was FS hopefully it's fixed soon.
Had a similar experience, with battery % entering freefall every time I turned the phone on. Two things helped:
1. I did the drain cycle. Drain the battery completely till it shuts off and charge it to full while off. This does not 'fromat/form' the battery in any way it just helps the phone to calibrate the meter.
2. I uninstalled few apps that I suspected were draining the battery.
I advise you install JuicePlotter and see the graph of battery drain. You'll be able to tell if the phone is entering standby or not. Thanks to some culprit apps (still figuring out what it was exactly) my phone was not entering standby at all hence the crap battery life.

Do I have a faulty nexus 10?

Hi all was just reading this forum tonight using the xda app when suddenly the screen started flickering. At first I though it was an issue with the app but the screen kept on going black for a split second until the display totally disappeared and went black.
I then tried to switch it back on for which it didn't do anything. At the time I had around a quarter of battery life left, plugged the charger in and left it for a few minutes until it finally kicked into life but the battery was dead.
Does anyone think I have a faulty nexus?
I have also noticed once when I had switched the display off left it for an hour, came back and the back of the tablet was hot plus the battery was nearly flat.
Stan.

That happened on my original one the picking it up after a while and its hot part. Found out it was an appl apparently freaking out in circles. I looked in battery stats for what was drawing all the power and I forced stopped it. Can't remember which app it was though :/
Oh and it never happened again (week)
Android can get a bit screwy with reading the battery life. I had this problem on my Nexus 7 (fizzling out at around 35% battery). The issue was resolved by fully charging the device (and leaving it charging for around 2 hours after it reached 100% to be absolutely sure the battery was full - you might want to leave this longer for a N10 since the battery takes longer to charge) - and then doing a full factory reset. No problems since.

Ok, well fully charged up the device overnight three days ago. Haven't been using the tablet alot over the weekend only to use this morning. i noticed the battery hadn't changed percentage at all since yesterday and was on 48%, I only had a few apps running, facebook, mail and browser only to find again the screen started flickering like mad and then it went dead. It is currently charging up again for which I will leave it for a while.
I will have a look for that battery configuration app but if this happens for the third time I think I will speak with Google about this as it shouldn't be doing this!

Battery life not so great?

Hey guys
I got my ultra yesterday and it came with about 40% battery and it took nearly 2 hours of screen on time to kill it which was amazing
I've given it a full charge so this is my first cycle and battery life isn't great with just over 1hour and 10 minutes screen on time which is worse then my 18 month old s3
Will it get better over time? I've got all the power saving features on
Thanks

1 hour 10 minutes from 100 to 0%? You should get around 5-7 hours of screentime. Just keep using it though and it should get better in a few days.

Hard to tell if it's normal or not. Are you using any apps that updates themselves frequently in the background? Widgets? Whatsapp? FB Messenger? I've had mine in standby for 8 hours (while at sleep) at 100% before, and it was still at 100% eight hours later, so it shouldn't drop 1% in 20 minutes.
Just keep using it for a week or so, and if it isn't better, you might have a lemon. But again, it's incredible hard to say what it might be. You can also do a factory reset and see if that solves anything. It might simply be a bug or an app that's gone rogue.
Agree with LordManhattan and 3mL.
When I first got it, I had the same questions about battery life. I was literally seeing it draining a percent a seconds. There were some rogue apps, like whatsapp and pinger (textfree), that were constantly doing something in the background. Uninstalled those and got much better results. After about a week or so and a few battery cycles, the battery also improved drastically.
Try some of the apps that monitor and hibernate apps, e.g. greenify and wakelock detector. I'm sure there are others but those are the ones I use.
I had a 2 percent drop last night so not to bad
And im not rooted so I cant use those apps at the moment
Ill see how it gets on

I m on stock rom rooted. using stamina mode while allowing some of the apps to run in background. battery life is great
never let battery life go below 50%. on contrary to popular belief, it is not wise to let ur batter drain completely. for the first few cycles refer to the manual
I normally get about 1-2% drain over night, a bit more if the cell signal decides to play up a but.
Over this week I got 4d 12h on one charge with 12% still remaining - very light usage: 3 or 4 calls, a few emails, a few geo-tagged photos, a note or two with poor signal most of the working day.
Its been rather strange for me, on the first charge cycle I got 4.5 hours of screen on time and the 2nd I got 4 hours
Im now on my 3rd and im at 85% with only 48 minutes of screen on time which isnt too bad but I feel like I have to have low battery mode and stamina mode on just to get it through the day
Hopefully Sony release a fix or 4.4 with better battery life

Because it really matters what kind of activity regarding your battery life you're doing. Smartphones are not battery friendly, get your charger with you or buy a mobile charger.

[Q] Battery Problem

Hi
I bought this phone 2 week ago. already when my phone was in sleep with airplane mod , the percent of my battery was instant about 10 hours. but now when my phone is sleep with airplane mod and i dont use it , the percent of battery is decrease about 10 percent in 10 hours. i do factor reset. but the problem was not solved. i guess when i update the phone in update center, this problem was appeared. now the version of my phone is :
android version : 4.4.2
software version: V10c-AME-XX
how i can solve this problem? and how i can to return to my first version software and cancel my update?
Try getting your previous rom and flashing that, it might just work

I don't think Your issue is software-related. I've got my Mini for over a month now, and I was dissapointed about battery life on it's first days. Now I think battery shaped its own and there's no problem with battery at all - it lasts two days with moderate data usage.

How long did it take for the problem to solve itself?
I got my phone about a week ago and I was suprised that it was able to last almost 3 days before charging.
Currently battery life is just terrible (less than 24 hours while phone is practically idle, with low brighntness, disabled gps, wifi and data connection) which is quite strange because since then I have rooted my phone and got rid of bloatware.
I have read somewhere that you shouldn't allow li-ion batteries to discharge fully, unfortunately I did that unintentionally,
Is it possible that a single full depletion managed to damage the battery? Or is it possible that I deleted some crucial app?
Phone's electronics and software will protect the battery, so no worry about discharging.
Did you install any messaging app (WhatsApp, Viber, Skype, Tango, Facebook or similar)?
These are draining battery a lot.
No. I don't use those. I even greenified dropbox, pocket and some other apps,
I installed Busybox (I don't know if this is even relevant, honestly I have no idea what am I doing,
I just follow guides to achieve functionality I want )

I don't use custom ROM's, after factory reset my phone isn't even rooted. I'll check out BBS soon and post some logs, they might shed some light on the issue. Built in battery usage app shows that most of the battery (30-40%) is sucked by Android OS
Factory reset did help indeed but not for long, battery worked like a charm for 3 or 4 days but problem reappeared.

It depends on your usage and brightness settings.
Normally I keep my brightness below 40%.
If I play ingress in the sun with display at 100% brightness I will get the same results as you do.

I have an Xperia Z2 and the battery will usually last 36-48 hours on a charge, with my pebble connected all the time, but without the pebble connected i only get about 50 ish hours, so it doesnt make too much of an impact, im guessing the LG G Watch will do a similar amount of drain as its only pulling info over Bluetooth again so shouldnt drain too much.

Thanks for the info.
Just to throw in some info on the battery life of the watch. Mine has never gone below 40% by end of day with normal use so don't worry about the watch dieing, if that was even a concern. Its hard for me to weigh in on phone battery life, I have the Flex and I'm getting about 2 days one charge, unless I game for hours with it. I Think its adding a few hours.
Took my watch off charge at 7:50am today its now 15:10PM and I have 65% battery still.
Using following settings :
1. Screen always on
2. Show cards even when screen dimmed
3. Alert on phone and watch
4. Brightness level - 1
Usage has been quite High because its the first day I have used it, sent about 20 Texts and done some maths with it, also it seems there are problems with the software and after awhile it seems to disconnect from my nexus 5 even if the software on my phone thinks its still paired.
As for phone battery its reporting in battery stats nothing regarding android wear, and im at 60% battery from the morning and i have hardly used my phone apart from trying to figure out why stuff is refusing to pair or even work.
I also use CM11 nightlys and the snapdragon battery app on my N5 this might have something to do with all the disconnects

Screen on, brightness 2, been replying to texts all day, the G Watch has been off the charger since 06:00 and it's now 01:32 (19.5 hours on) and I've still got 40% left.
Can't really fault it. I just drop my G Watch on the charger every night when I go to bed. Easy.

Well I am glad to hear I won't have to worry about it during the day. My S4 however... Dead in 6 - 8 hours under moderate use. Hope this keeps phone screen off more to help

Ditching the Snapdragon app has solved some disconnects, however it still disconnects at least 2 to 3 times a day.
Still on the same CM build, untill its been running for a week will i swap to another CM build to see if there is issues with the CM bluetooth
Zero disconnects on stock. ?

How's the battery life on Nexus 5 when it's paired with the Watch?
I assume that, aside from bluetooth, the Watch will use up some portion of the phone's battery for location services and other partial wakelocks?

Do you leave it on charge all night? Is it OK to do this? I've been taking it off charge when it's done and then powering it off at night. There should be a way to power off the screen while charging.
9am to 8pm and still 65% remaining
7am to 8.30pm 83% with 'screen always on unticked'

Wear 100% / Nexus 5 100% Battery at 7AM
Its now 9:15pm and G watch is at 62% and Nexus 5 is at 68%
I reckon you could go 30 Hours before needing to charge both devices.
Wear from 8am to 9pm 55% remaining. Less than average day for notifications. It killed my G2 though. Had battery saving on for location. But it really chewed it. Just one day. I disabled location reporting again. Will see if that has any effect on phone battery vs any loss of functionality on the wear. But I'm very happy so far.

Watch on since 7am to 9:30pm. Watch at 13% and phone at 64% with 1.5 hours on screen time.
I am now using my phone about 50% less.
Love it!
