[Q] AdHoc for Kitkat (Pipo Tablet) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys
Wondering if you can provide me with something or help me with a problem i have.
My phone is a Nokia E73. I use Joikuspot with it.
Would like to to use my Nokia E73 as a Wifi hotspot using Joikuspot.
My tablet is the only device which doesn't see the Nokia in its wireless devices. I think this could be down to the fact it is Adhoc.
I have tried replacing the WPA Supplicant but it stops my wifi working all together.
Wondering if this is because i now use Kitkat.
Can someone point me in the direction if you have come across this issue?
Thank you.

Here you've got some info. Unfortunately you will have to wait for a root solution.
yes I tried some posts but nothing else
Yes we are waiting developers friends
Tried it using an aircard but android only picks up the usb stick.
I dont know if it actually help but I saw this on tech republic when they open the tablet.
3G-ready motherboard and case: Sony left an open spot on the motherboard and inside the case for a 3G or 4G card. The internal mounting bracket even has screw holes for it.
Dont know if it is possible to add an internal modem or install driver for that.

Maybe this will help you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25615728#post25615728
At least worked for me. It disables other functions of USB 3G sticks and leave them to be acting only as 3G modem, which then tablet recognizes.
Is there anything new? I have got rooted ICS on my tablet. Is it possible to use 3G USB Modem on my tablet? I have got 2 USB-Modems. The first is ZTE K3565-Z and the second is Option 4G Systems XS Stick P14. Is there a solution?

If darkjesus's method didn't work, then I'm not sure anything will. These modems are not easy to work on a lighter system like Android.
I'm happy to be proven wrong, of course.
In a german forum, i found an app called "UMTS Manager". With this app you can connect with 3G Networks with some Huawei-Sticks and maybe some other devices, too. They use mode-switch to switch device mode to modem only and then it works for them. Here's the link:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/asus-ee...-stick-zum-laufen-kriegen-17.html#post3236187
Of course, a lot of pages But some of them got ZTE K3565-Z working. For me it doensn't. Maybe we can find a solution
I found the reason, why it does not work on Tablet S. Our Tablet does not create ttyUSB*-devices when attaching 3G Modem to the Tablet. Normally it creates ttyUSB*-devices, attaches the Modem there and you are able to connect. I think it's a kernel issue or Sony modified the kernel. But with Custom Rom and Kernel which has got this "feature" it is possible to connect via 3G Modem. Maybe one of us could create this custom Rom..
So how?
Hi there friends

You will have better success looking for a portable 3G-to-WiFi hotspot device. Not only will you not have to worry about installing USB modem drivers, the device will work with a non-rooted tablet. Also, if you have a 3G smart phone, look into WiFi tethering.

[Q] No progress to connect Adhoc netwrok for S3?

HELLO PLZ HELP ME OUT..
After 3 days of research over internet i finally can tell that i have successfully rooted my SAMSUNG S 3(i9300) ver (4.1.1) but still i am not able to find any strong development on ADHOC enabler of galaxy s3.
I am not able to connect My rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 jelly bean with WiFi shared via Adhoc method from my laptop (Vista Sp-2) or can say that with Ad-hoc network. I tried to root my newly purchased S3 and installed WIFI adhoc enabler and also replaced the wpa_supplicant, But still adhoc network are not working.
I followed this method but no success on Samsung Galaxy (i-93000 V 4.1 Jelly bean )
Please help me out its very urgent as i am not having Wifi connection I am using USB 3g Internet
No solution that I know of...
There are some work arounds posted for WiFi tethering, but I have not seen a solution that provides ad-hoc wifi support for Galaxy S III or Nexus 7. Since these devices have been around for some time now, this is either not a important problem (perhaps work arounds make it less of a problem) or a very hard problem, or even worse... both.
I would like to connect to the Brookstone Rover 2.0 for example, but cannot unless I can solve the ad-hoc WiFi issue. The workarounds are not of any help so far.
I have not jumped into a deep technical review of the issue so I cannot comment. I was hoping someone already had this worked out or was working on it. If not then I will start looking more closely at the problem.
Still no response
Plz help me out still i am not lucky enough

Sorry for reviving a very old thread but I too have a s3 (i747m with JB 4.1.1 stock rooted) that I've tried getting adhoc working. I've also tried everything the OP mentioned with no luck. I have a laptop (running WinXP) in my company truck that's has a 24/7 cell data connection. With my iphone5 I can connect using adhoc no problem but the s3 will not even detect the ssid. I've been reading for the last 3 days and haven't found a solution to this. I'm hoping someone has finally released some sort of patch. Failing that I'm due for a computer upgrade soon so hopefully I'll get win7

Unrooted yet Lollipop coming, adhoc patching, usb hardwire tethering other androids

Have we gotten to the point where the Android tools in general use are available for a capable android computer, like say a Z2 tablet or one of several Galaxy phones just to name a few?
My Z2 has 23.0.1.A.4.44 which I understand is not rootable. At the same time the Lollipop update is supposed to be just any time now. Should I root it now or wait and see what happens after the update, which I'll assume will be nothing to make it easier to root. Any suggestions as what to do? Root now and see if it will update and keep root or just wait? I can hardly stand the idea of this not being rooted.
Has anyone had any luck making a Z2 connect to adhoc wifi? I've studied the OLSRD patch and a few other methods and I'm a bit unsure about which method would be best and easiest. In fact, I have several devices I'd like to be able to connect to a simple adhoc wifi.
If anyone can point me to a ground level and upwards networking tutorial that doesn't carry a person too fast that is slow in that department, I'd appreciate it. I know the WLAN on most all of my androids tested will see adhoc wifi but the wpa supplicant thing seems to be the problem that google has ignored to the point they say it's now moot. I wish I could say I agreed.
Going further, if I make a usb micro to micro cable to connect these various devices, would it even be possible to hard wire tether the Z2 (and/or) other various android devices that way?
The only cables similar I can find are micro a to micro b and they are mostly called OTG. My understanding is that the Z2 will accept a or b and so will some of my samsung handhelds. I don't guess I know for sure.
Have we gotten to the point that hard wiring androids to each other would ever be of benefit? The wifi direct, near devices and NFC beam things on my devices equipped seem hit or miss at best if not inexplicably inoperative. Can you wirelessly one click root an android or flash a rom?
Please pardon my ignorance and thank you for your tolerance. I'd like my android world to be easier and more logical when it comes to simple things and it would be nice not to need a windows PC to tinker with my androids.

Ad-hoc WIFI is supported via WIFI DIRECT, look under Settings > WIFI > Advanced > WIFI DIRECT
Advanced is the 3-dot menu in the top-right corner of the screen.

Yeah support seem to be a hit and miss thing.
And as far as I you can not root a phone wirelessly.
I don't see that wifi direct is the same as actual adhoc. I have no less than 5 wifi direct devices, not all activated, and in the case of my spg512 cannot be activated, and it doesn't seem to work on any of them.
However, my pc's have zero problem seeing and connecting to the wpa supplicant skipped broadcasted wifi from my rooted s4 via barnacle.
Turning that off and trying the wifi direct with the same s4 and any other of my devices, gets nothing. None of these devices have any problem hooking up to starbucks or hotel wifi.
I have to wonder also if the infrared on the devices so equipped could be made to transfer data like a nearly 10 year old windows mobile phone can.
I must be doing something wrong or have many broken devices because the ones I can get to pair, all fail to transfer files to each other.
Of course the wifi direct sure isn't going to tether any of them to the internet.

[Q] Wi-Fi Issue on GT-I9300

rk3188 wifi, 3g issues

Hi! I bought HU for my bmw e46 and unfortunately my excitement about it soured a bit, when I realised that my wifi wouldn't turn on at all... I wasn't worried that much because I was gonna use 3g huawei modem anyway to have independent internet for the unit. Unfortunately it doesn't work either, because by instructions you need to turn wifi on as well... I had impression that it was software issue and tried looking for solution. I came across PPP widget, but as there is no way to get connection I cannot access play store and install through apk doesn't work. I then decided to give it malaysk rom with hope that this would solve my Issue, but it didn't. Its all the same. This must be a hardware issue with wifi adapter by my assumptions, but why dongle is not working when it has nothing to do with wifi? Does anyone know how to get 3g working? I just want my 3g and I dont think I'll need wifi that much. Also does anyone have stock 5.1.1 rom for eonon? I tried backing up, but it went wrong and I cannot reverse it in case Id need to send it back. Thanks for help in advance!
