I've seen a lot of posts bemoaning the fact the S5 camera has no manual shutter speed settings, there's a solution....
CameraFV5 offers manual speeds and a lot more besides
Also has a companion Video app CinemaFV5
Both are available on Google Play.
Oh, and I have no connection with the developer, I'm just a happy user....
I can confirm this as a photographer. FV5 is wonderful. Now we just need a better CMOS in the phone....

sorry to disappoint u ive been testing this app since long time and manual shutter control never worked :/
Works fine for me...
I;m not sure what's happening with yours but it works fine for me, including the custom shutter speeds...just checked again with 5 and 20 second exposures...definitely working..
Just given the app a try. Manual shutter control did work. Will give this a play, thanks for posting.

but manual shutter is not working, also on s4 and s3 it did not worked. no matter what exposure time you set it is always standard time, if i set 10 seconds image should be too bright but its almost black like in stock camera (dark room)
Manual shutter doesnt work

I agree with Yahyoh as well. Doesnt work on my G900F S5 as well. In fact, it if I select, say, 1 second shutter, the shutter appears to remain open for 1 second but there is no difference on picture quality.
Ya doesn't work. Manual speed doesn't really affect shutter times. The output is also limited to 2 MP. Would be nice to have a real option like in one plus one camera.
There's no shutter right now..
This thread might be one month old but still shows up on top of google when looking for samsung camera shutter speed, so I decided to clear some stuff up.
1. Manual shutter speed means that you can control how long your shutter is opened and thus affectt amount of light comming into it (= makes making night photos easier but might require a tripod).
2. Google added new camera api with Android 5.0. This API allows for manual shutter and shutter control and RAW file saving, HOWEVER phone maker must still update camera firmware for it to work.
3. Only few phones with Android older than 5 had those manual options, im speaking about those huge camera-phone hybrids like samsung galaxy camera for instance. So if you do not have android 5+ then there is NO real shutter control or focus control on your phone.
Now lets go to FV which is wonderful piece of software:
1. It is first android app to support Lolipops camera features, however for those features to work camera firmware must be upgraded.
2. Almost no one upgrade their camera firmware as of yet, FV manual options work only on Nexus5 and 6 at the moment. And this is a huge letdown and dissapointement. Another dissapointement is apathy from android community which does not seem what a great camera features they are missing because of oems lazyness.
3. If you do not have updated camera firmware then FV will enable a 'false' shutter mode, which is just capturing images from screen preview (thats why theres 2mp or so size limit) and then mixing them up together using image processing techniques - this is nowhere near how real shutter works.
4. Only time when you have a working shutter and manual focus is when you have android 5.0 phone with camera firmware that supports those changes, which are only few right now - nexus 5 and 6, maybe one or two other but for sure not our galaxy s5 ( I have s5 with official 5.0 and it does not have those features)..
I'm saying this from ex-windows phone user perspective, who is really dissapointed in how android develops at the moment. I've had windows phone and they have those features for at least 2 years now. (But then Nokia/MS used to practice dirty tricks as well, like in order to make new phones more appealing they reduce max/min possible shutter speeds on older phones).

but you cant make 1/8000s
its not real shutter speed, with proper shutter speed control as in a DSLR, the shutter opens and stays open for the time set, In FV5 is just takes a series of pictures very fast and stacks them, amounting to no difference in exposure, just blurriness.
So a 5 sec exposure in a very poorly lit environment still comes out near pitch black instead of properly exposed

Hello. First, I am sorry if I didnt get the right thread for this question. If I did i hope admin will move it to right thread, instead of removing it completely.
Second...
I was wondering is it possible that new and better cameras get even better functionality throught modding the cam application? If not in every HTC, then in new ones wich have enough power and abilities...
This is what I'm trying to say.
I own SonyEricsson K800i... I did complete work on it, new firmware, and inserted various patches for new options, adding more space for sms messages, more alarm options, different layout of home screen and so on, from better LCD display driver to amazing sound with modded equalizer. And then I found out about guy called Raiderski wich makes, better to say - remakes original camera driver, and adds various tweaks to the camera such as...
Balance: cyan - red
Balance: yellow - blue
Balance orange - light blue
CWB measuring: unlock - start - lock
Contrast: 1 - 30 - range
Color saturation: Neutral, Grayscale, 1 - 30
Focus: Infinity, Far, 1-30
EV compensation: from -2.0 to +2.0
Shutter Speed Fast: H SEM, H EM, from 1 - 6400 to 1 - 10
Shutter Speed Slow: SEM, EM, from 1/8 to 2sec
ISO sensitivity: 100, 125, 160, 200, 250, 320, 400, 500 - still very usable, 640, 800, 1000, 1250, 1600
Zoom: from 1x to 16x - digital only, stock SE comes with 8x
Autoexposure lock: Unlock - Lock
One feature it has - wich could be useful on new touchscreen phones: Instead of holding dedicated button for camera to focus and then shoot pic, and since Rezound doesnt have dedicated button as far as I know, and not having ability to have option of holding the button half pressed down, it could be added virtualy on the screen, since i dunno are touchsreen pressure sensitive, probbably not yet - it could be solved by 1-2 virtual buttons, like a unlocking the home screen - while holding the button, it focuses the pic OR previews the manual settings, and sliding it up or down or left or righ - shoots a pic. Or it could be simpler, 2 buttons, one for new autofocus/preview with ON/OFF state - and second for shooting the pic when taping it.
Why?
Imagine you want to preview your settings in realtime - before you want to shoot a pic. For night photos i choose SLOW SHUTTER SPEED to 3/5 and ISO 500 + zoom it to 3x and THEN hit dedicated button but only half way, and I see what the end result would look like.
This is what K800 has after modding it, and lowered JPEG compression ratio, and 30FPS recording and millions more stuff wich makes stock K800 and the rest phones look insignificant... Because now this K800 with 3mpx does better photos than 90% of the rest cellphones... I tried to make identical photo with Desire HD and K800... result was discusting when looking at pic wich Desire made, even small shake destroys the photo, and when holding it steady, again, doesnt make WOW effect while comparing the photos...
anyway, and so on and so on...
Basicly you get every option unlocked, you can have manual control over every aspect of the pic, every DSLR has this possibilities, and for years and years I use it in my old SE... So, why not make a mod for Rezound or some app wich will work on more HTC's wich have enough processor power and abilities? Big HD screen is here, its dualcore, 1gig of ram, it has great multimedia abilities, why not make it even better?
Is it possible to do or is it allready been done?
here's the "link" where I've been gathering info about this camera mod if someone wants to check, though it isnt great starting point if you want to learn what is it all about... link and news may be outdated because last time i checked, guy didnt have time to continue on developing the mod further:
Esato.com - Forum - Sony Ericsson - Software, Firmware and Drivers - Raider camera driver for K790, K800 and K810 (v6.6.5)
Well, hope someone can help you.

first, I think what you want is pretty cool, camera mods are always good to have.
second, I thin the reason you are getting negative responses is becuase of the tone of your post. This particular paragraph for instance..
'so why not make a mod...'
what do you mean, why not. We do not even have root yet, let alone custom apks and roms. Your tone suggests that nobody wants to do this and you are trying to convince the community to build this 'sweet camera mod.
Also, it is obvious by your post that you have not read anything on this forum in regards to development, if so you would have seen that we do not have any way to mod the phone currently and therefore your suggest is somewhat moot.
By looking at your overall writing style, I can assume English is not your native language and therefore the tone of your post is probably not the one you tried to get across. (the other option is that you are very young)
either way, welcome to the forums and to the rezound. my best suggestion for you is to continue to read the forums and follow the current development. When we get root and the ability to flash custom roms, perhaps your suggestion can be brought up again and will be better recieved.
Again, welcome and thank you for the awesome suggestion
Hey,
I'm thinking about buying the phone for mainly video recording.
I'd purchase a stabilizer gimbal with the phone, and use it 95% time in wide angle mode to record 4k videos.
As I don't yet have the phone it's hard for me to tell how good it is for that purpose, but I know that i'd definitely need the following things in video mode:
- turn inbuilt stabilizer off
- change exposures
- lock exposure
- manual ISO setting
- manual shutter speed would be nice, but not essential
- manual focus that stays focused on one place
- NO unnecessary focus hunting in automatic mode (God...that ruins so many videos!) - i hope the laser focus works here
These are usually fairly basic requirements for Photography mode, but sometimes they don't include these in video mode.
If they are not built in the default camera app, does other playstore camera app(like "Manual camera") work on the phone with these settings?
I currently have a Moto X Style that I love, but the video features are all automated and many of the above is locked
Thank you all for the answers

So even though there was no answer, I have went to a phone shop and tried it there. I found that in video mode manual settings are not possible at all, which is a big letdown for the G5.
I'm hoping at least that Open camera at least works on it. That should allow manual controls for video too. Has anybody tried it?
Hi!
Open camera is working fine. One of the few apps that also can use the wide angle camera!
When I want to record video with perfect audio I use my zoom h2n recorder as external mic and adjust the audio gain: perfect for rock concerts, etc.
Just buy a USB-C OTG adapter to USB 3.0 (normal size). Then connect the cable from the mic. At last - perfect audio!
the only advanced & working app I've found till date (which can EVEN change options during recording) is Cinema FV-5.
OpenCamera could be used too sometimes, if you dont have something better.
Ive mostly used 3rd party video apps with my G5, instead of the stock camera too, though its hard to find one that will use both lenses.

Hello dear friend, recently bought G5 and trying to find app that enable manual movie functions and uses both lenses, could you find any app???
Hey guys, last update of GCam for G7thinq working on out device! (not everything is working obviously).
Working:
- main camera with HDR
- wide angle
- portrait
- video at 1080p
- H265 video recording
- night sight (but lags)
Edit: apk with working wide angle (thanks to @Whoareyou)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kQq...w?usp=drivesdk
Enable Add AUX
Now switching between front and back camera twice is your switch to wide angle and back!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/themes/app-google-camera-gcam-lg-g7-thinq-t3855081
Cheers!
Here is an example of stock (top) vs Gcam (bottom). Gcam preserves more details (check bricks for example), and makes low light images a bit more clean overall.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/14j-1hnBAVNeIdqufDQP8F3UeH4swnZ7x/view?usp=sharing
The v40 has a very similar night mode, it just doesn't do much and conflicts with the flash. They seem to have tried but quit
I have an apk I found with working Wide angle but I am not sure which one it is (I've got a few in my downloads ?) I'll upload it here when I figure out which it is.
Edit: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kQqhAxvcDEQZN8MGu1Qg3WgtuiI7Cyex/view?usp=drivesdk
Enable Add AUX
Switch to wide angle:
Switch to ffc
Switch back to rear
It should now be using wide angle.
@Whoareyou great find man! Works well!
For unfamiliar folks, what makes Google Camera great is the software post processing, particularly Google's HDR, which I never turn off, and portrait - great results. Also somehow GCam manages to preserve more details compared to LG's camera. Now we have working wide angle, I can switch to GCam completely, at least for photos. Night sight working as well, we just have to deal with lag in viewfinder.

Thanks for the link, but am I missing something as far as fixing the extreme lag with the view finder and image capture? Between hitting the capture button and the actual image being taken is several seconds, and the viewfinder lag makes it very hard to use.
I have lag only in night sight mode.
Shutter button works only on second touch for me. And yes, GCam takes a moment to take a picture compared to stock camera, that's just how it works on on phone.

The viewfinder is laggy no matter what for me, and it takes much longer than a moment for the shutter button to register for me. Oh well, maybe I'll have better luck with some future modded APK. The camera that comes stock with the V40 is already pretty good, but having night sight and Google's HDR would be the cherry on top.

Hi there,
I wanted to start a discussion about stuff that we like/dislike about this phone, but not the obvious stuff - rather things that are not much talked about. When I read about this phone, most popular topics are about fingerprint sensor, screen resolution, 50x zoom, night mode...
So first, things I don't like:
1. Aspect ratio issues:
- No 16:9 photos aspect ratio.
- Screen 19.5:9 aspect ratio can cause issues in games/applications that only support 16:9 aspect ratio. It's not a huge issue, because most apps support wide screen. It's also the same for other wide screen phones.
- Screen mirroring to TV - because of 19.5:9 aspect ratio, there are black bars on top and bottom, so when you are viewing 4:3 photos on 16:9 TV, the photo is very small and shown only in the center of TV with black bars around it. I don't know how other wide screen phones work, but I guess the same way.
2. Camera:
- There is no way to force the camera app to use the optical 5x zoom in photo mode/videos when the light is low. For me it was a huge issue when I was recording a concert and the camera was jumping constantly between 5x optical and digital zooms. Digital had more view on scene where the light was good, so it jumped to optical lens, optical view is out of sync so bigger part of view was on the dark crowd and it jumped back to optical again. There was no way to record it with zoom.
- How different lenses view is synced - widescreen and normal 1x are in sync when changing between them, you get basically the picture in the same position, but 5x optical and normal are just so much out of sync, that it is very very visible how it switches when you go from 4.9x to 5x. Not a huge issue, but it could be better.
- There is no level indicator in other modes than pro.
3. Speaker:
- The quality is OK at most, when compared to Samsung for example (Samsung S10 has amazing speakers), but it's a phone after all, so I don't expect much anyway.
Now things I like:
1. Huawei Share. My god, this thing is amazing. You can just connect your PC to your phone with WiFi and browse files normally as if it was connected with a usb cable! That is truly amazing. I didn't have it in Xiaomi, newest Samsung phones also don't have it. Why nobody talks about this amazing feature?
2. Camera app:
- Amazing zoom possibilities, 5x zoom which I'm using constantly during my trips and I don't know how people can say they don't use it much. There is something called perspective and this photo shows what I'm talking about. You can get especially amazing pictures when you have mountains in the background. So much discussed 50x zoom is not really usable, but 20x still has amazing quality.
- All different modes, especially the light painting/silky water is nice. Also the pro mode with so many different settings and 30 seconds shutter time. There are much more modes and possibilities than most youtube reviewers show us. They usually just show night mode, 5x zoom, 50x zoom and that's it. Like that's just 10% of options in that app! When you really start knowing the app, it is just much better than Samsung or Xiaomi camera apps. You can shoot much better pictures when you know what you are doing.
3. EMUI:
- I really like this system, the icons, design, features, it's really nice. I don't know how anyone can 'hate' this system? I came to EMUI from Xiaomi and Samsung phones and for me it's just better.
Huawei P30 Pro is my first Huawei phone and I must say I'm really impressed by the price/quality ratio. What are your thoughts?
Point 2: tray to rec videos with opencam or edgecam. You can choose 1x camera and zoom in or you can choose 5x camera. No changes between they.
"2. Camera:

this to me is a huge issue...as i was trying to photo one of our dogs in evening time and it would only zoom via digital.....every now and then it would flicker to ultra clear optical but not for long enough to get a shot.
no workaround at all for it ?...i see no mention of it in google searches.
i can imagine being in the same situation as you recording a gig and that would be troublesome.

Yes, for photo it works, but then you get no AI... Also normal photo AI handles the 5x zoom when light is low better than pro, I guess it takes digital zoom which is bright and merges it with optical which is dark
As for the video, I tried the open camera, but from what I can see, it only allows to switch between normal 1x and 5x zoom, but when you zoom to 5x it works the same as huawei built in cam app... So it switches to digital and back to optical all the time.
Edgecam also allows you to use all the lenses
---------- Post added at 05:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:05 PM ----------
With edgecam or opencam you can choose the lense.
If you choose 1x lense an make zoom is only digital zoom.
For 5x optical zoom you must change to 5x lense.

Mine stays on optical all the time in video.
Yes pictures are generally better with AI but OC enables you to stay with optical even when light is low.
Issue :ghost notifications.
By ghost notifications i mean there is a sound and vibration but nothing else. Now I am pretty used to them, but from day one and after a couple of updates, they are still present. I have disable notifications from almost all apps except messaging ones, but ghost notifications keep going! Even during night with flight mode on. ?

Actually you can turn it off.
Go to Settings ---> Sounds (or Tones) then pick the last entry and deactivate Lockscreen sound.

Click to collapse
Go to sound > more sound settings > screen lock. Disable it and there u go.
I am really hoping you can touch to focus on video on the new 1 III model... If someone can confirm/deny I would be grateful.
In any way, uploading the stock camera .apk would be helpful for everyone curious to try it on other xperia devices.
There you go
You can touch to focus or manually focus during recording in the cinema pro app which is focussed on video capturing and editing.
However auto focus during recording didn't work too well in a quick first try. It just couldn't get a hold of the sharp point. But maybe I did something wrong or this will be fixed.
Manual focus however is a dream - wouldn't wan't anything else. You can even preset 2 focus levels and automatically switch between them.
I just downloaded this to my Xperia 5 ii it works I like how they made the basic mode and still have the other options

hi liggerz87, can you tell me if this new version of the app allows to launch the Camera with the dedicated physical button?
If you hit the camera button it pulls up the normal app but you can use the double power button tap to open it by default that way
Also someone made a macro that works only prob you can't use the standard camera app and it disables it
