Hi All!
Please help me out, there is a hungarian news site called index.hu which forces mobile view to readers in a brutal way, and does not let you view it like on a Desktop PC.
I tried many browsers, always set the user agent to desktop mode, even modified chrome for android, but nothing helps and I'm getting retarded from this
I'm sure that I'm not alone with this, and probably there are a tousand more sh*tty sites like index.hu
Does someone have the guts to slave and force this site to desktop mode?
Any help would be appreciated!
My device:
LG G2 running KK 4.4.2 (rooted)
Nexus 7 (2012) running CM 4.4.4
Anyone please?

Try Lightning Browser.
I used version 3.0.5b and set User Agent to ''desktop'' before visiting the site.
In default UA mode you get the horrible site. In desktop mode you get the normal site.

Tried it, no luck. Still mobile site on every UA. I even downloaded the same version of the browser, but no luck.

Nobody?
Please, this subject is still actual, no solutions around the web, somehow nobody cares, but there are sites that drive me crazy as well. Tried a lot of browsers, PC version on, UA set to Desktop, still no luck.
EDIT:
Solved. Just change the browser's DPI to match tablet mode. More on how to:

Hi guys, done a search so don't think this has been asked before. Has anyone managed to get facebook places working reliably on the hd2? From my initial hunting around I've been trying various html5 enabled browsers with intermittent success. Any advice appreciated.

Hi Alan,
I too have been trying to get this to work, no success yet, may I ask which browsers you have had success with?

I'm sure I've read they have to support HTML5, so anybody know which ones do. HTML5 is very new and AFAIK there is no browser for WM with full HTML5 support, there may be some betas with partial support, they would need the geolocation part of HTML5 to be implemented. I'm about to try Iris now
maybe this'll help some of you (PM by Xenton; thanks!):
I couldn't post this as I'm new here and it has links so here ya go:
Right been at this most of the day now, the most promising course of action would be to google gears which adds geolocation functions to browsers. It only works with very specific browsers though, one being Opera Mobile 9.51 (Presto build 2.1.0+) it's available via Opera's FTP site at ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/winmobile/951b2 download "opera_v9.5beta2_gears.cab" and install launch the browser then goto gears.google.com and click install. It will prompt you to reboot your phone. Now relaunch the browser and navigate to touch.facebook.com try to use places, you should get a warning that your location information is being accessed via gears, click okay and you should be good to go.
I got as far as a suggested list of places for my location but nothing on the screen would respond.

It's been a while since I was trying to get this to working and I gave up, so this information may not be up to date but there were no apps that worked with places, the touch.facebook website did but needed a browser with HTML 5 support, I tried many browsers, finally a combination of browser and addon that should of worked but didn't. I think I'm correct in saying android and iPhone have browsers that work nicely wptg the Facebook touch site but WinMo has neither a browse nor an app that works wptg places. I did give up on this a while bin now, and would love for someone to tell me I'm wrong...
......EDIT: It works!!! I installed 4.1 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6392459&postcount=2 (this is the page the download app button on their facebook page links to) and it prompted me to update to the latest version and then, places was working, just like that amazing, I'm well pleased. Also had a play with the latest better, kept freezing and crashing but it looks very promising, an awesome app!
yeah i was using it for places but now when i go to places it locks up
It's still working for me, try uninstalling and they reinstalling, that might fix it, it is a beta still and is not rock solid stability wise yet.

Worked for me! thanks
Was wondering if you guys could help me to find an app to do this? Certain sites like ebay go straight to their mobile version when I try to access it on my phone... I want to be able to go to the full versions of websites ask the time. Is there an app that would block sites from being able to read that I'm on a phone? Thanks

You can change your browser settings to make it look like mozilla or anything you want. Try reading google or anywhere else instead of posting questions with answers everywhere.
@fenixnr. You can't do that on the stock browser anymore. Don't be a troll.
@ O.P. you have to use an alternate browser for that. Try dolphin HD. Then look in the setting and change the user agent to desktop.

If you're running any 2.2 ROM, you can use the stock browser to view non-mobile sites by typing "about:useragent" (without the quotes) into the address bar and selecting "Desktop" from the dialog that comes up.
Aside from that, you will need to use another browser from the Market.
The ucweb has the function you looking for. It is the most popular mobil browser in China. I don't know if there is a English version.
ok thanks guys... i have dolphin hd so i'll try that... i actually like the stock browser better so i may try that method as well, you have been a big help, thanks!
Sorry in advance, but I bought a gtab for the wife, and although I'm an engineer with many years of experience with PC hw & sw, this android stuff is all new, and there's no user's manual that I can find, and I'm too old for this sh#t!
So anyway, every few days she comes up with something she easily does on the PC but can't do on the gtab running tnt lite.
Today's is that she wants to email a link to the website she's on to herself or others without copy and pasting to an email client, and I can't see, or find, any to do it.
Help, please. And anyone want to buy a slightly used gtab!?!? j/k; she does like it - but I don't need the aggravation!
Thanks for any help,
Robb

I don't know if this works on the TnT browser (I don't think it uses the stock Android Browser).
But on stock android browser, press 'menu', 'more', 'share page'
Thanks, but menu button seems to be dead while using the browser.
Lol I was trying to do the same thing earlier today and can't figure it out either My HTC evo all u do is hold down the website link and it will pop up share page or copy page URL. I have tried everything no luck
You could just load another browser??
Opera, firefox, dolphin, Xscope.
They all have their advantages.
Firefox mobile has a 'share page' option; thanks! 1 down, a few more to go. I do see there are printing apps I'll need to check out.

You can do it on Dolphin too if you want your browser to support flash.
I'm not entirely sure this is only a Nexus 10 problem ... But I noticed yesterday that links have stopped working on some sites in chrome and boat browsers. The Guardian website for example. The link highlights on touch but does not open the relevant page. The only way I can get it to work is to long-press the link, then open the link from the popup menu.
This only seems to be a problem on the desktop version of a site, and is not happening in Firefox.
Can someone try this out to see of they have the same issue?
Thanks in advance

Thats exactly my first thought!
Its only happened since they launched their new mobile layout, but the desktop version is so good on a tablet.

sure, it does look good on tablet..
the new mobile is pretty cool on my phone
I love to read Charles Authur's completely biased one way thinking..an apple-nazi if ever there was one..
I have been searching for a solution, but its not so easy to analyse their HTML from my tablet..
when I boot up my PC I'll have a good look at their html to see why it's causing the problem in chrome
I do notice that the first time I go there the first link will work.
have you found any other sites where the links don't work?
T
Seems to be working again now.
Hi, was wondering if there is a way to permantly load full desktop websites in Firefox on my Sony Xperia tablet Z. I dont like Chrome, and all of the posts I seem to find for setting Chrome to desktop sites relate to a mobile phone not a tablet. You already cant seem to set a home page but I worked around it by adding a most used page to the home screen but even that I must always change to request the desktop site when I open it everytime. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
