guys dont update to kitkat..i upgraded to kitkat and facing some issues..
cons
1) gaming is not at all good..lots of framedrops ..games like asphalt 7,8 ,hayday, subway surfers are playable with frame drops..i recommend stick to jellybean 4.3
2)you cannot change lockscreen wallpaper if the lockscreen effect is set to ripple effect
3) We cannot change RUNTIME ART or delvik
4) decrease in benchmarks antutu scored 17874 in android 4.3...but with kitkat it is 16985
5)decrease in the GPU performance..test it ur self with nenamark2
6) expected alot no s5 features ..or any new samsung applications SNOTE,,SCRAPBOOK etc.
pros
1)better multitasking
2) OK battery life
3)no heating issues compared to 4.3
if you want good gaming performence .dont upgrade wait for sometime
i think samsung underclocked the GPU that is why gaming has become a problem..waiting for update

If you want to improve gaming performance, try rooting the device and install Pimp my ROM from Google Play, then use that to tweak your GPU.
All is well...
Everything is running fantastic after update.
I have done hard reset first and then update from KIES (Yes...Kies...not from OTA)
It will take time...but it is perfect!
So...close your eyes and update. Battery backup will be better for sure!
confused

quite confused...go for kit-kat or not.....?Thanks anyway for notification....
Dont update
Do not make the update to Kitkat yet. There are too many problems and so far nobody has reported any fantastic advantage, something worthwhile upgrade.
Nor is there the slightest possibility of you returning to the Jellybean. Downgrade is not possible, because... hardbrick

G7102T
Upgrade doesn't work for brazilian Grand 2 Duos with TV (G7102T). If you have upgraded to android 4.4, don't try to downgrade, it may cause a hard brick...
I upgraded to kk i had no problems
I upgraded and I am very happy, almost similar to 4.3 and zero problems
KitKat is better :good:
Updated to KitKat
No issues for me. In fact KK is smooth and lag free compared to JB.
yes ya i to have same problem pls post me sme rectivication methods

Well i have rooted my phone and wanted to overclock my S2.. Now i need to install a custom kernel for that , so was thinking of going with siyah..
However i just wanted to know whether is it really worth overclocking? I mean i will go back to stock settings for day to day usage.. but like for playing games and stuff..i would like to overclock my cpu..
There are few 3d games mainly open world ones like gangstar rio city, amazing spiderman which lag a bit even on S2..
So just wanted to know whether overcloking to1.4 or 1.5 will show any improvements or not? Also how does it affect the overall performance of the device i.e. opening apps, swiping through home screens, home screen lag etc.
Answers would be greatly appreciated
thanks

well OC does improve performance of the phone while doing the benchmark test's,but the same is not recommended for longer use since it creates lots of isssue's like Random freezing, rebooting, overheating etc which is not good for ur phone.
hence the best thing is to try out some good kernels like Siyah, fluxi etc and see how ur games fare with there default settings and also u can set the Governers in the same(siyah, Fluxi kernel) and try, that way its safe rather than Overclocking
Well, more performance (but for me not that much) at the expense of battery life and a damaged chip set sooner than later in the future
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
So do u think installing siyah kernel will have a postive impact on the performance of the phone overall as well as games? by the way regarding OC, ofcourse i wont overclock the whole time , only when playing those demanding 3d games..
more replies especially from experienced overclockers would be appreciated, thanks..
I am not installing any custom rom currently as RR and few others have reportedly been not so stable for gaming..the games crash or force close etc..
so gonna stick with stock rom for now..but i do want a performance enhancing kernel
You won't need to overclock at all whilst playing games. The cpu will be more than sufficient and stock speeds. Also the gpu does main of the gaming bits and that will have no problem as it can play tegra games
well thats d prob..there are few games that do lag on d great s2 lol as mentioned in my post... so was wonderkng wheyher overclocking cpu and/or gpu will affect performance or not..
thanks for f replies though
well i was dispponted about my gameplay with this deveice
eaven with updated 1.16.xxx.xx ruu... still same problem and lags (battrey save off)
but now i want realy to cry ... wene i tryd putting live wallpeper on my screen (power save mode off and 200 ram free and nothing in backround)
and the wallpaper lag same as my games...
i realy start to warry maby its hadware problem and not software..... htc one x can run wallpapers smooth with power save mode on....
and i cant....
]=
tryd every other live wallpapers and they lag too.... scrolling in waebsites somthims lags ... thd games as dead trigger have shatters and lag's
(i most notice most of the time quadrnt get me score of 7400 and few times give me scores of 6200 and 6800 with power saveing mode off)
guys do u think its hadware or software problem plz i dont know what to do
I noticed homescreen lag with even the simplest of live wallpapers including the stock ones, gameloft games were also laggy as hell and nfs most wanted although smooth looked like i was driving in the matrix. As an experienced android user and someone subject to sense 3.0 (ugh!) i immediately rooted and installed renovate gaming boost which fixed all game lag, i then installed the insertcoin rom which fixed my live wallpaper issues, i am now very satisfied with my device.
sirusly? i will try it!
so im not the only one means that its only software problem...
btw do u get heat if u play?
my phone start the heavy lags after he got heat +- 15min
btw what about the battry life in this rom?
it's a software issue. It was well discussed in another thread. Problem is that the cpu and gpu clock are locked together. So when CPU does nothing, the clock goes down and the GPU scale accordingly. Quite stupid if you want my opinion, but it explain why my live wallpaper suck when it was ok on DHD. There's a "fix" running in the wild requiring root. Didn't try it yet.
Hi, i'm using one of the best roms for Xperia Neo, the AC rom (used to be PAC) the one ported by Kormatoes. But i'm getting a little lag when gaming, just installed vce city and even with low graphics i get lag sometimes. So i want to know what can i do to reduce this lag.
I changed the governor to performance (don't know if it's the best), and OC to 1.4 GHz, closed all apps before gaming. What else can i do?

Vice City is a pretty heavy game and it won't run on our devices smoothly, especially if you're on ICS/JB ROM.. Both are RAM hungry and therefore not enough RAM would be there for you to play!
If you love heavy games I recommend you to switch to GB ROMS..
I know that GB roms are lighter than ICS or JB, but how lighter they are? You think just the rom will make a big difference or there should another thing to do? What about the governor?

ROM definitely makes a big difference..
Try playing games on both GB and ICS and then try to compare between the two!

Well i would like to get the best performance without changing the rom. I think the AC ROM is well tweaked and maybe as lighter as a GB rom. Just want to know the best configuration (CPU governor, I/O) to get less lag. Should i restart the phone before playing too?
Hello guys.I have galaxy s2 with stock kernel 4.1.2 , rooted with stock cpu/gpu clocks. I use an app that's with lowest graphics of the game, 1.1.0 meltdown update. I still drop to 20-25fps and the average isn't much more than 35fps. This is definitely better than stock game but it's still not very playable. I saw a one year old thread where people ran the game with this phone and lowest graphics with 60fps. Is it just me or are you guys experiencing the same ? If the problem Is only mine, any tips to increase frames? CPU oc doesn't do much.

Well,I don't have a S2 but you can increase the performance with this MOD, it also increase the battery life too:

Hey folks , I got some strange problems with my phone here.
So,what's my story about. My gaming performance just suddenly got bad. Before,I was on official 4.3 with everything stock and games ran flawlessly. Then I flashed AOSP ROM and everything still worked as it should (games didn't lag) and I was on AOSP for more than 4 months.
Now,I flashed back stock sammy-based ROM , and only after 4 days,I noticed that gaming performance is really bad.
Let's start from the fact that only god knows what I've done with my phone today to fix that, but I was unsucsessful. I changed ROMs,kernels, tweaked my phone, overclocked it,but nothing , games still lag like hell. Real Racing 3 has BIG fps drops, dead trigger 2 (low) has some lag spikes and some fps drops, too. Now I downloaded modern combat 4 and it was unplayable! I haven't flashed stock with odin,as my computer doesn't read my phone in download mode (again!),so I'm lazy to do it on other computer. But still thinking of that. Maybe at least very official ROM is the last hope.
So,can anyone help me? This is the first problem which I can't fix and that's bothering me,though I already got used to fact that now I may have to live without gaming, lol. Not a big problem,as for now. But really? What can be the cause? What's wrong with my phone? Why is UI smooth, why can't I see any lag when watching HD videos and etc, but games lag so badly? Look how good my score in antutu is (no overclocking, cpu and gpu - everything stock):
If you are using a custom kernel disable zram. Real racing 3 will lag when offers are loaded at the title screen. If you get lag in game then you have something else going on.
System panel on the playstore can help you see what is going on. Also disable dvfs with the xposed module as that causes issues with overclocked devices.

I'm not overclocked.
Btw,will try and report back. Thanks!
EDIT: Helped partially, like 20%,but still lags, just less fps drop downs. Thanks for trying to help!
Anyone else. Would like to fix this issue.
No one?
I have similar problem (just posted a help thread about it), in my case it's thermal throttling which is scaling down CPU to 800MHz after 5 mins of playing heavy games. try running CPU analyzer from System Tuner and check if that's the problem.

Sometimes the games lag but not like u mentioned.. If u want a stock 4.3 that is flashable via recovery and you can have great performance then i have one.. I really have and own it
