Is there a voice command to dismiss a notification that appears on the watch, or do I always have to swipe? TIA

How would the watch know which card to dismiss? Pretty sure you have to swipe..

I've only seen one notification displayed (a topmost one) at any time. If there are multiple notifications, another only shows up after the top one is swiped away iirc. I'd like to dismiss the topmost notification by voice ("dismiss" or something).

Alright, that would be possible. Altough I haven't seen it anywhere yet..

When the screen is locked, and a calendar remidner pops up, is the an option other than dismiss or snooze? For some reminders, I don't want to keep snoozing, and I don't want to dismiss cause it'll disappear. On the htc magic I would unlock the screen, check the reminder and then leave it or press home and it would stay in the notification pane until dismissed. But with the hero to even access it it seems I need to dismiss it. Any way around that?
On a completely unrelated matter, when you're talking on the phone and someone rings you, is it not possible to check the number afterwards? Seems that it doesn't register in missed calls.
Cheers.
I can answer the second question, when you go into your contacts (People shortcut), you can scroll to stuff in the bottom. When you slide all the way to the right, there is your call history. You can check incoming, outgoing and missed calls there.

Checked there, it doesn't seem to list missed calls that occurred while you were talking on the phone. So I hear the call waiting beeps, they stop, I end my call, and there's no record of the number that rang during my call.
the calendar thing is indeed a bummer, there should be the possibility to deactivate the alarm AND leaving the reminder unread, so it stays in the notification bar. i am wondering that i didn't notice this by myself yet, since i used to use the calendar this way all the time...
as for second question: just tried it, i see the missed call in the status bar, when i click on it i see it in the call history as missed call. i also see it when going by contacts -> most left icon in the bottom slidebar.
so far: 1. issue is a real annoying issue, 2. issue isn't a problem at all
hmm, thanks, maybe the beeping was in my head and not a call that was waiting!
On the calendar issue, seems to be an htc sense thing, as it worked fine on the htc magic that was plain android.
To not dismiss a reminder dont slide down but press the menu button on the lock screen, it removes the lock screen and takes you into the main screens.

Tried that, it still dismisses (or snoozes) the reminder. Which reminds me, in the calendar options, you can change the reminder display from 'show in notification bar' to ' show as alert' but both seem to do the same, at least when the screen is locked?!

What happens if you just hit the power/end button to turn teh screen off and then turn it in again?
same effect as snooze, pops up again a bit later
I just had an idea. Instead of texting by switching applications, what if you could just pull down the notification window, type a message and read it. If it worked with Google Voice, that would be very cool too!
I have no idea how to code this, but I am a designer and could create some pretty GUI for it.
You could try something like SMSPopup or the popup+quick compose shortcut that handcent has
Do you mean compose an entirely new message in the notification bar or reply to one you received?

I like his idea, I wouldn't mind seeing something official or official looking that popped up when long pressing an SMS notification that let you select reply, that kept you in your current app but popped up for replying like QuickDesk or SMS Popup does.

Maybe, but if you could send texts from the notification bar, next thing is someone else would want to send emails, someone else would want to make voice calls, someone else order pizzas and the next thing you know the purpose of the notification bar is lost in a jumble of features ... what's so difficult about pressing the sms icon to send a text?
Kind of pointless seeing how as you're one click and several milliseconds away from the full fledged SMS app. Remember, this isn't an iPhone, stuff works here - fast.
The notification bar is just that, a notification bar.

True. But I don't see why notifications can't have long-press options. The problem is, this would sorta have to be on a per-app basis. Meaning nobody would make an app that included a menu for the notification unless it was an official feature from Google, a part of Android 2.5, for example.

I was thinking that it would be a good idea to create something like what the OP wants, but I really like your response and you make a good point.
My two cense [yeah im UK so cant spell that word xD]
1) Popup SMS, I installed it very early on in my N1 career, never uninstalled it, its perfect for me.
2) While we dont NEED this, it would be interesting to see if its possible to type in the notification bar, as there may be other uses.
this gives me an idea too
i always hate going back to home or clicking music playing notification to change music.
If there was a little previous, play/pause and next icon it would be awesome. As the status bar is nearly always visible we never have to exit the current app we're in.
Hopefully someone can do this
but yeah sms would be cool too
A stinky note / drawing pad would be cool too. Just a way to quickly write a note, be it a phone number or grocery list, and view it anywhere without minimizing the current application.
Even though there are dedicated apps for all of this, the ease of use and speed of the notification bar are noticeable. The Framework is always running in the foreground.
This is just a real small nitpick, but I think it would be a convenient little tweak. I'm wondering if there's a way for a developer to create a working notification tweak for the SMS/MMS notifications so where it shows the message in the notification bar, but still says "New Message" on the lock screen.
I know there's a "preview message" option in the settings, but you can differentiate the two individually. So I guess what I'm asking is a workaround to select preview mode for the notification bar and lockscreen separately.
Anyone?
I agree. I have been wondering the exact same thing. I have been wanting to keep my message private to users that can access the lock screen yet quickly be able to read the message from the notification panel.

I third this motion...
The notification panel can be pulled down without unlocking the phone, so that was probably the thinking behind having both tied together.
Does the message still show on the screen with patter or pin unlock styles?

I would have thought that by disabling the notification it wouldn't show on the screen but it does for me but I'm currently just using swipe so that could play into it.
Hey All,
Is it possible to keep the notifications on the screen until dismissed. Or at least the notification count?
Sometimes during activity, walking/working the phone and watch will trigger a notification and it gets overlooked. But after 10seconds or so it clears off the watch face. Would be nice to see it stay until cleared.
Plugged through the settings and can't find anything.
Could be i am just blind or maybe it's not possible? Or perhaps it is with a root command?
Any help much appreciated.

Just like any android device, the notifications stay in the notification area (swipe from bottom) until you dismiss them (swiping to right).

For sure. That much is clear. But for instance the "lock screen" on a phone can also be configured to show notifications all the time so just glancing at your screen you can see that you have some without unlocking it.
On the watch I don't see any real way to , at a glance, see that you have waiting notifications without sliding up with a finger which requires waking the screen with the button or double tap.
Hey there,
I am not sure if i am doing something wrong here... but coming from OnePlus phone, I used to be able to either dismiss or mark-as-read messages for example right from the lockscreen, however, in Reno, when i pull down on the notification to reveal those 2 options, i am then taken to the bar notification screen where all the toggles are above, and only from there I can dismiss or mark-as-read.
Is this the case with ColorOS? or there is some settings need to be changed?

Yes I also found this very strange that u can expand notifications but can't use any action.
